Abstract

This research aimed to reduce misconception and improve the scientific process skill in the X MIA 2 graders of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta through the application of E-Module based on Problem-Based Learning. This study was a Classroom Action Research consisting of 2 cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of research was the X MIA 2 graders of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta consisting of 42 students. Techniques of collecting data used were multiple choice test and observation to measured scientific process skill, open-ended reasoning of Two-Tier Diagnostic Test to measure misconseption, and interveiw as the proponent data related learning process. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative technique consist of three component: data reduction, data presentation, and taking the conclusion. Data validation was carried out using triangulation method. Target of research was 20% to reduced misconseption and 30% to increased scientific process skill at the end of the cycle. The result of research showed that there was a decreased misconception in ecological concept: population of 51.31%, community of 43.73%, ecosystem of 39.36, and science, environment, technology and community (salingtemas) ecology of 54.33%. On the other side, the  result of research also showes that there was an increased scientific process skill in all aspects: observing of 36.52%, categorizing of 19.95%, predicting of 32.92%, interpreting of 33.75%, measuring of 35.66%, communicating of 38.31%, designing experiment of 48.80%, experimenting of 41.38%, asking question of 31.02%, hypothesizing of 31.62%, and applying concept of 39.38%. The conclusion of this research describes that the application of E-Module based on Problem-Based Learning is able to reduce misconception and improve the scientific process skill among the students. Keywords: E-Module based on Problem Based Learning, scientific process skill, misconception.

Abstract

Keywords: antagonistic, Trichoderma harzianum, Colletotricum, antraknosa

Abstract

Biology learning especially high plant system courses needs to be applied to active learning centered on the student (Active Learning In Higher Education) to enhance the students' learning activities so that the quality of learning for the better. Outdoor Learning is one of the active learning invites students to learn outside of the classroom by exploring the surrounding environment. This research aims to improve the students' learning activities in the course of high plant systems through the application of Outdoor Learning. The experiment was conducted on students of fourth semester Biology Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Veteran Bangun Nusantara Sukoharjo Academic Year 2014/2015. This research is a measure that consists three cycles and each cycle consists of four phases: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The technique of collecting data through observation using observation sheet to measure students' learning activities. Data analysis was performed in a descriptive study using the technique of the percentage of students with an analysis of the level of activity in the learning process. Targeted research is an increase in activity score learn every cycle and meet the performance indicators that have been defined. The results showed that the Outdoor Learning can improve students' learning activities. The increase occurred in the learning activities of students from the first cycle to the second cycle of 4.5% and from cycle II to cycle III by 2.2%. Score each learning activity indicator also has met predetermined performance indicators.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the profile of the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) as well as the potential for blended learning development in students of Biology Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of UNS. The research is descriptive research. The sample used is biology education student consist of students in 2nd, 4th, and 6th semester totaled 90 students on academic year 2014/ 2015 .The survey proportionally was done in March 2015. The data of the  research described qualitatively as well as using descriptive statistics. The utilization of information and communication technology on biology education student of is quite high and mostly used for purposes of social networking which is indicated by average of social network account ownership is more than 4 social network accounts. In addition, the frequency of internet access per student are also high that is once a day as many as 35 students (38.89%) more than once/week as much as 9 students (10%), once a week as much as 1 student (1.11%), and the rest with a frequency not necessarily as many as 45 students (50%). The development of blended learning in Biology Education is possible to do. This is supported by the existence of various activities the use of ICT for the purposes of teaching and learning for example for assignments submitting via e-mail, accessing material of the lectures of lecture’s blog or another site suggested by lecturer, accessing the journal research or subject content, discussion through social networking guided by the lecturer. The form of the development of blended learning which most allows is to use the LMS (Learning Management System). Keywords: utilization of ICT, blended learning

Abstract

The main problem in the cultivation of African catfish is a disease MAS (Motile Aeromonas Septicemia) Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria attack. In addition, other problems that also resulted in the successful cultivation of this fish is the high price of fish feed and the cost of production for the procurement of the feed. Needs to be studied the use of feed raw materials that utilize industrial waste as well as the use of vaccines in controlling disease MAS. This study aims to apply feed made from 3 waste, namely chicken feathers, pulp, and trash fish, then add the vaccine (vaccine feed) and tested in the field. Field test conducted in the village of Bangsa, District of Kebasen, Banyumas. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment consisted of P1 = vaccine feed 10 days; P2 = vaccine feed 15 days, and P3 = no vaccine feed (controls). Feed was given as much as 5% of the weight of fish / day. Research using plastic tarp length x width x height = 80 x 60 x 60 cm. African catfish which used a length of 10-13 cm with a weight of 7.3 to 21.1 g. Fish reared for 8 weeks. Parameters measured were immune response such as antibody titer, weight gain and length, specific growth rate (SGR), as well as survival. Parameters measured were supporting water quality parameters include water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT test) with a test level of 5%. The results showed that the vaccine could increase the production of antibody titers (P <0.05) compared to controls. The use of artificial feed of chicken feathers, pulp, and trash fish are added the vaccine (vaccine feed) can be applied in the field. Keywords: Aeromonas hydrophila, Banyumas, field test, vaccine feed
