The correlation between humoral immune response with the level of of thrombocytopenia on dengue hemorrhagicfever patient The aim of this study was to know the correlation between humoral immune response with the level of ofthrombocytopenia on dengue hemorrhagic fever patient. This is a cross sectional analytical study on internal inpatientsof AwalBros Pekanbaru Hospital in August-November 2008. Population was all internal inpatients of AwalBros PekanbaruHospital with working diagnosis dengue hemorrhagic fever. There were 4 pattern of anti Dengue antibody : IgG-/IgM,IgG-/IgM+, IgG+/IgM-, IgG+/IgM+. Most of patients with IgG+/IgM+ and have secondary dengue infection Thoseresult were analyzed by Friedman statistical test. There isn’t a significant correlation between the level ofthrombocytopenia and anti dengue antibody. It show that there wasn’t a direct correlation between them. It could bedue to a cross reaction between anti dengue antibody with thrombocyte (autoantibody).

Open surgery urinary tract stones are classified as clean-contaminated surgerywheresurgical prophylactic antibioticsare recommended.The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern and correct use of surgical prophylacticantibiotic in patients undergoing open surgery urinary tract stones in Arifin Ahmad Hospital.This research is a descriptivestudy using secondary data from medical records of patients who underwent open surgery urinary tract stones, with atotal sample amounted to 82 people. The precision of the use of antibiotics assessed based PermenkesGuidelines Useof Antibiotics.The results showed the use of prophylactic antibiotics for urinary tract surgery have not been preciselyclassified according to the indication the use of antibiotics andthe timing of antibiotics.Even though the durationantibiotics, dosage, and route of administration of prophylactic antibiotics are appropriate under the guidelines.Theuse of prophylactic antibiotics for open surgery urinary tract stones need improvement.

The prevalence of stress on medical students is very high, especially on first grade medical students. Theproblem to adapt to new environment is the most common cause of stress occuring on first grade medicalstudents. Stress can become negative effect to person. The aim of this study was to understand the stresslevels on first grade medical students of Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau. This study used descriptivedesign with cross-sectional approach. Samples in this study were 166, using total sampling technique. Datawas accumulated by using Medical Student Stressor Questionnaire (MSSQ) that had been modified forstress levels. The results showed that 57.23% had moderate stress levels with stressors related academicand stressors related teaching-learning relationship as the highest stressors.

Membaca menjadi dasar dalam belajar dan dengan perkembangan teknologi komunikasi informasi (TIK), membacasecara modern sekarang ini menjadi pengalaman yang lebih menarik dibanding sebelumnya ( misalnya membaca secaratradisional); akibat ketersediaan bahan bacaan elektronik di internet. Meski terdapat potensi efek yang tidak diinginkan,hampir tidak mungkin membatasi penetrasi TIK dalam hidup keseharian kita. Pilihannya lebih kepada kendali atas efekyang tidak dibutuhkan dan disisi lain memaksimalisasi potensi e-reading di internet untuk keuntungan pembaca.

The use of herbicide paraquat dichloride by farmers, is one of effort to increase the production in agricultural sector.Herbicide paraquat dichloride often used by farmers carelessly and there was caution ignorance. Herbicide causemuch adverse effect to organs, especially in liver through oral. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect oforal herbicide paraquat dichloride to hepatocyte swelling and sinusoidal congestion in liver of male rats (Rattusnovergicus) Sprague dawley strain. In this experimental study, 25 male rats (Rattus novergicus) Sprague dawleystrain are divided randomly into 5 group and treated for 2 days. K1 is group of controlled, K2, K3, K4, K5 are givenherbicide paraquat dichloride 25 mg/kgBW, 50 mg/kgBW, 100 mg/kgBW, and 200 mg/kgBW. The results showedthat the average number of hepatocyte swelling and sinusoidal congestion in liver was increasing. In Kruskal Wallistest and Post Hoc Mann Whitney test found significant difference p=0.000 (p<0.005). There are significant effect oforal paraquat dichloride to hepatocyte swelling and sinusoidal congestion in liver of male rats (Rattus novergicus)Sprague dawley strain.

Adequate nutrition is one of important factors in immunodeficiency repairment. Soybean and tempeh contains proteins,zinc, ferrum, vitamins and isoflavon. Fermentation in tempeh makes it having better nutrients digestion and absorptionthan soybean. The objective of this study was to compare the effects of soy and tempeh emulsions on total lymphocytecount in rats treated with prednisone. The test was done on 24 male white rats divided into four groups. Group A wasgiven distilled water and group B, C and D had prednisone 2.5 mg/day for 6 days. After that, group A and B werecontinued having distilled water while groups C or D was fed with soy or tempeh emulsion 0.71 mL/day for 10 days,respectively. The results shown that soy and tempeh emulsion could increase total lymphocyte count significantly (p <0,05) but there was no significant difference of total lymphocyte count between soy and tempeh emulsion groups (p >0,05).

Sore throat and hoarseness are common complications after endotracheal intubation. The incidence of sore throat andhoarseness after endotracheal intubation varies from 14 to 75%. Although regarded as minor complications, sorethroat and hoarseness contribute to postoperative morbidity and patient dissatisfaction. The aim of this study were todetermine the incidence of sore throat and hoarseness after endotracheal general anesthesia and to describe associatedrisk factors at Arifin Achmad Public Hospital. This study used a descriptive cross sectional method. A total of 88patients who underwent endotracheal general anesthesia were enrolled in this study. Data of the patient such asgender, age, duration of intubation and endotracheal tube size were collected from medical record and direct observationat the time of operation. All of the patients were interviewed within 24-36 hours after surgery to collect data such assmoking history, sore throat complaint and hoarseness complaint. The evaluation of sore throat degree was accomplishedwith a Capan’s scale for sore throat and hoarseness degree was accomplished with a Stout’s scale for hoarseness. Theresult showed that 18 patients (20.4%) experienced sore throat and 34 patients (38.6%) experienced hoarseness aftersurgery.

Prevalence rates of myopia in many Asian urban countries reaching epidemic proportion. It has long been observedthat myopic children have higher IQ, and association between myopia and higher level of near work. This study aimsto quantify the association myopia with school achievement and near work in Riau University medical students. Theprevalence rate of myopia in Riau University medical students was 31.4 % (76 students). Myopia students as casesgroup compare to emmetropic students as control group. This study showed that high significant association myopiawith near work profile and no significant association myopia with school achievement. Myopia students more likely tohave risk near work profile than emmetropic students (x2 test P < 0.001) with odds ratio 6.12. Myopia students morelikely to have high GPA than emmetropic students (OR 1.34) but interaction between myopia and school achievementwere not significant (x2 test p> 0.05).

Inflammation plays an important role in the development and progression of a variety of cardiovascular conditions,most notably coronary atherosclerosis and congestive heart failure. A number of inflammatory molecules have beenimplicated in these processes, including interleukin-1 (IL-1). IL-1 receptor antagonist is an endogenous inhibitor of IL-1, which competitively binds to the IL-1 type I receptor without activating it. Anakinra is a nonglycosylated, recombinantform of human IL-1ra that, like endogenous IL-1ra, competitively inhibits IL-1 by binding the IL-1 type I receptor.

Cesarean section is a high risk operation for the development of surgical site infection. Routine prophylaxis withantibiotic may reduce this risk. Antibiotic administrations in presurgery and postsurgery are widely used to avoid andto treat surgical site infection. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the administration of prophylactic antibioticsfor cesarean section at the Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. This study included 485 patients who had beenunderwent cesarean section for one year period (January 1st – December 31st 2014). Data were collected using patient’smedical record. The study showed that prophylactic antibiotic was given to 43.7% of the subjects. All of the prophylacticsubjects received seftriaxon as prophylactic antibiotic. About 75.0% antibiotic was given <60 minutes before incision.All of the drugs were administered by intravenous route. It can be concluded that there are some inappropriate use ofprophylactic antibiotics. The greatest inappropriateness is inappopriate duration and indication of prophylacticantibiotic.
