Abstract

The main issue of this study was the view most of the students and communities that physics was a difficult subject and filled with so many formulas that cause students to be less motivated to learn physics, especially in senior high school. To increase student motivation, it was necessary to use innovative strategies in teaching physics. Has done a study of 65 students of class X SMA 8 Pekanbaru. The students were divided into two groups to determine the increase in motivation to learn physics with the implementation of peer tutoring strategies. ARCS motivation questionnaire used as research data collection instruments and the data was analyzed descriptively by calculating the gain motivation to learn phyiscs in the experimental group and the control group. The results of descriptive analysis showed that there was an increase in students' motivation of experiment group with motivation gain obtained amounting to 0.418 with a middle category. In the control group, as well as an increase in students' motivation to gain motivation of 0.244 with a low category. These results indicate that the use of peer tutors learning strategies in physics learning tend to increase the students' motivation. Keywords: physics teaching, learning motivation, peer tutoring

Abstract

The problems in this research was the factors that influence students’ learning motivation at economics department in faculty of teachers training and education of Riau university (i.e: motivation to learn in the classroom (Y1), motivation to carry out structured tasks (Y2), and motivation to learn independently (Y3)), particularly from external students (ie: the quality of lecturers (X1), the lecture method (X2), the conditions and atmosphere of the lecture hall (X3), the library facilities (X4), and the conditions and atmosphere of the park study (X5)). The participants of this research were the students of economics department at faculty of teachers training and education in Riau University in the academic year 2012/2013, the number of students is 294. This research was conducted in 50% samples (147 students), it was taken by the proportional technique of purposive sampling. The data were taken by using a questionnaire with four alternative answers. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis, regression, and partial correlation with the level of significance of 5%. The result of descriptive analysis found that the students generally have high motivation  (to learn in the classroom, to do structured task, and to learn independently) respectively 86.4%, 87.1% and 88.4%. They also said that the quality of lecturers, the classroom conditions and atmosphere, as well as the library facilities are good, respectively 66.7, 59.2% and 45.6%. While the lecture method, as well as the conditions and atmosphere of the park study is enough to learn, respectively 59.2% and 51.7%. From the multiple regression analysis found that all of five independent variables (X1, X2, X3, X4, X5) have a significant effect on Y1, Y2, and Y3 with donations amounting to 22.8%, 24.2%, and 22.0%. While partially X1 and X2 have a significant relationship with Y1, Y2, and Y3. Unlike  X5 which has a significant relationship with Y2 and Y3, but not significant with Y1. Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of TGT learning models in Mathematical Economics course. The experiment was conducted at Economic Education Program, the Faculty of Teachers’Training of Education, Riau University. Subjects were students of the second semester of Economic Education Program attending in Mathematical Economics in Academic Semester 2011/2012, totaling 36 students, consisting of 28 (78 percent) female students and 8 male students (22 percent). The research was conducted in three cycles, each cycle includes the planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The results found that the implementation of TGT learning in Mathematical Economics can improve student learning outcomes. Using TGT as a learning model for improving student learning outcomes will be effective if supported by the following: the ability of lectures to create lesson plans based on the TGT model, and the involvement of students in proportion to the activity in the learning process. Abstract

This research was intended to find out the disparity of motivation of achievement of the 7th term student selected out through PBUD selection and ones picked out through local selection at the study program of PG PAUD in FKIP UR. This paper was a comparative research that it compared the indicator and variable to agroup of respondents. The data was collected by using an instrument in form of serveyor, in where the serveyor was developed from a variable of motivation with three indicators. Indicator I: the risk taker consisted of 12 discriptors; Indicator II: ones who needed feedback consisted of 8 discriptors; and Indicator III: ones who considered succes consisted of 8 discriptors. The number of all discriptors was 28 units. After being tested for the validity, 4 of them were invalid. The population of this research was 94 student who 42 of them were the students from PBUD selection and the other 52 were from the local selection. The sample of the research was 64 students, 30 of them were from PBUD selection and the other were from the local selection. Based on the data collected, the score of motivation of achievement of the PBUD studends was 79.833 and percentage was 83.16%. The number of percentage was “very high” after being matched with criterion. While the score of local selected students was 76.4112 oe the number in percent was 79.63% which was considered in the level of high. While in the hypothesis of search testing with computer calculation, it was showed that there was a disparity of the motivation of the students selected through PBUD selection to the ones picked out through local selection at the study program of PG PAUD in FKIP UR. Based on the calculation of thitung, the result was 3.698327 higher than ttabel which was only <3.698327> 2.617 in the level of significance 0.01. Thus, Ho was rejected, which meant that there was a disparity of motivation on achievement of the 7th term students of PBUD selection and the students of local selection. Abstract

The aim of this study was to gain an overview of the perception of physics subject and performance of their physic teacher. The sample of this study was 342 students of one of Junior High School in Pekanbaru. Data were collected using a questionnaire perceptions of physics subject and physic teacher performance. Both instruments were qualified with valid and reliable test of the validity of the questionnaire using the product moment correlation and reliability using alpha Cronbach. Descriptive analysis of the data showed75.8% of students have a positive and highly positive perception towards science in daily life, 83.9% of the science and technology, 85.3% of the science influence on other subjects .Only a small percentage of students who gave a negative and very negative perception of the three indicators of perception. Meanwhile, 45.53% of students stated that the performance of their physics teachers are in the category of very high, 47.95% were in the high categoryand6.51% at the low and very low categories. These results indicate that the students of junior high school in Pekanbaru have a good perception of physics subject and physics teacher performance. Abstract

This study aims to increase learning motivation and outputstudent of Economic Education FKIP Riau University through contextual teaching learning. This study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) in the Evaluation of Teaching Learning Economics course of the school year 2011/2012, which was as much as two cycles. Number of students in this class there are 41 people consisting of four men and 37 women. The results showed that the activity of lecturers on the course with contextual teaching learning model becomes more comprehensive, that there are only four activity to be 10 activity. In cycle 1 activity lecturer achieve enough good category, while in cycle 2 increased to good category.. Student motivation to learn before the implementation of the action is low, while in cycle 1 had increased into enough categories and in cycle 2 increase in the high category leads to very high. Knowledge and skills learning output of students before the implementation of the action only in the category is quite low, in cycle 1 had increased, although still quite enough, and in cycle 2 increased to good category leads very well. Increasing from prior cycle  to cycle 1 and from cycle 1 to cycle 2, indicating a significant improvement on the significance level of 0.000. Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify solving problem technique to improve the competence of students in Senior High School. Data were collected by using survey and descriptive research in 36 Senior High School in 12 regencies, Riau Province. The results of this study showed solving problem technique to improve students’ competence were: (1) Repairing in components; (2) Standard process. 3) The standard of educational management.
