Journal of Community Service in Science and Engineering (JoCSE) publishes articles on community service and empowerment results that are problem-solving, comprehensive, meaningful, and sustainable, with clear goals. Community service and empowerment activities must have novelty, innovation, and creativity. The manuscripts do not just replicate the same activities in different places, have measurable results and impacts on society, and support achieving the goals outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs are a global plan agreed upon by world leaders to end poverty, reduce inequality and protect the environment. The SDGs contain 17 Goals and 169 Targets, so each article must be linked to these goals and targets (as stated in the contribution statement).

Abstract

This community service program is carried out as drawing training using Advanced AutoCAD for teachers and laboratory assistants at a vocational high school in Serang Regency, namely SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Kramatwatu. This program is carried out to improve vocational students' ability and readiness in the world of work and industry. The training materials provided in this training are introductions, drawings, sketches, modifications, and 3D AutoCAD. This training activity is implemented using the method of presentation, tutorial, practice, discussion, question and answer, and exercises. The results of the training showed an increase in the ability of participants in the introduction of the AutoCAD application. The achievements of the activities in this training were realized by the results of the participants' work after the training. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan menggambar menggunakan Advanced AutoCAD pada guru dan laboran di salah satu sekolah menengah kejuruan di Kabupaten Serang, yaitu SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Kramatwatu. Program ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan kesiapan siswa SMK dalam menghadapi dunia kerja dan industri. Materi pelatihan yang diberikan pada pelatihan ini yaitu tentang introductions, drawing, sketch, modify dan 3D AutoCAD. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan ini dilakukan dengan metode presentasi, tutorial, praktik, diskusi, tanya jawab, dan latihan. Hasil pelatihan didapatkan peningkatan kemampuan peserta dalam pengenalan aplikasi AutoCAD. Capaian kegiatan pada pelatihan ini diwujudkan dengan hasil kerja para peserta setelah pelatihan.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the pattern of cannabis and tobacco use among adolescent students in Sokoto and measure antinutritional factors in the two drugs. Qualitative and quantitative standard methods were applied. Reagents and materials of analytical grade were used to evaluate the antinutrients. Signs of drug abuse among adolescents are untidiness (33.3%), blackening of lips and toes (24.2%), poor concentration (20.0%), poor/foul odor (12.1%), false images (6.7%), hostility (5.5%), and reduced weight (1.2%). The perceived causes of drug abuse are peer pressure (36.4%), poor parental guidance (30.3%), labor/work (15.2%), learning musical art (9.1%), unemployment (6.1%), and sports (3.0%). The submitted effects linked to cannabis and cigarette revealed are health effects (27.3%), followed by poor academic performance (24.2%), confusion (21.2%), school dropout (16.9%), disrespect (7.3%), and lastly disrespect (3.0%). The preventions are strict restriction on drugs (33.3%), education/awareness about the effects of drug abuse (26.7%), religious intervention (21.2%), avoiding deviant peers (9.7%), and poor parental guidance (9.1%). Substance abuse is a menace among the studied adolescents, and antinutrients present in the drugs affect the users, especially their academic performance. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola penggunaan ganja dan tembakau di kalangan pelajar remaja di Sokoto dan mengukur faktor antigizi pada kedua obat tersebut. Metode standar kualitatif dan kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Reagen dan bahan kelas analitik digunakan untuk mengevaluasi antinutrien. Tanda-tanda penyalahgunaan narkoba di kalangan remaja adalah penampilan acak-acakan (33,3%), bibir dan jari kaki menghitam (24,2%), kurang konsentrasi (20,0%), tidak sedap/bau busuk (12,1%), citra palsu (6,7%), membuat keributan (5,5%), dan penurunan berat badan (1,2%). Penyebab penyalahgunaan narkoba yang dirasakan adalah tekanan dari teman sebaya (36,4%), bimbingan orang tua yang buruk (30,3%), buruh/bekerja (15,2%), belajar seni musik di tempat yang kurang baik (9,1%), pengangguran (6,1%), dan olahraga (3,0%). Efek yang diajukan terkait dengan ganja dan rokok yang terungkap adalah efek kesehatan (27,3%), prestasi akademik yang buruk (24,2%), kebingungan pada tujuan hidup (21,2%), putus sekolah (16,9%), tidak peka (7,3%), dan terakhir rasa hormat rendah (3,0%). Salah satu upaya pencegahannya yaitu pembatasan narkoba yang Ketat (33,3%), pendidikan/kesadaran tentang dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba (26,7%), intervensi agama (21,2%), menghindari pergaulan yang menyimpang (9,7%), dan bimbingan orang tua (9,1%). Penyalahgunaan zat merupakan ancaman di kalangan remaja yang diteliti dan antinutrien yang terkandung dalam obat-obatan tersebut mempengaruhi penggunanya, terutama prestasi akademis.

Abstract

This community service aims to assist fish farmers on how to cultivate fish properly. Good fish farming certainly requires a place for breeding, hatchery, and growing fish. This service aims to assist the community in cultivating catfish using biofloc media. This assistance has an economic impact on the community, namely helping to meet food needs without buying fish at the market. In addition, it is also efficient to make because all the ingredients for fish farming are easy to get and are readily available around the house. This community service activity included a group of fish cultivators (Pokdakan) in Tanjungkalang Village, Nganjuk Regency. This activity results in a biofloc media with specifications of 4 m in diameter and about 0.8 m – 1 m in height. One biofloc can accommodate as many as 4000 catfish seeds. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendampingi petani ikan tentang bagaimana cara membudidayakan ikan dengan baik. Budidaya ikan yang baik tentunya membutuhkan tempat untuk penangkaran, pembenihan, dan pembesaran ikan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat dalam membudidayakan ikan lele dengan media bioflok. Pendampingan ini memiliki dampak ekonomis bagi masyarakat yaitu membantu memenuhi kebutuhan makanan tanpa harus membeli di pasar ikan. Selain itu, juga efisien untuk dibuat karena semua bahan pembuatan tempat pembudidayaan ikan mudah didapat dan sudah tersedia di sekitar rumah. Peserta pada kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah kelompok pembudidaya ikan (Pokdakan) di Desa Tanjungkalang, Kabupaten Nganjuk. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu sebuah media bioflok yang memiliki spesifikasi yaitu diameter 4 m dan tinggi sekitar 0,8 m – 1 m. Satu bioflok bisa menampung ikan lele sebanyak 4000 benih.

Abstract

The development of the tofu and tempe industrial business in Bangkinang Kota District, Kampar Regency, is mainly carried out on a small and medium scale business, so in production and management, it experiences several limitations such as limited production equipment, production processes carried out traditionally, and limited knowledge in terms of management and treatment of waste. This community service activity aims to carry out activities to assist soybean grinding machine equipment and diesel motors in the Tofu-Tempe Industry Mrs. Helma and Mr. Ayusman to assist partners in the production process so that production activities can be carried out more effectively and economically with maximum results. In addition, this activity aims to provide information and training to the two partners on the handling and processing the resulting waste, which can be processed into organic liquid fertilizer. The results of this dedication show that the two tofu-tempe industry partners feel very useful with the activities that have been carried out because of the assistance of production equipment in the form of soybean milling machines and diesel motors as well as training on handling and processing the resulting waste into organic liquid fertilizer. It is hoped that this activity will create a positive synergy between tofu and tempe businesses and agricultural businesses around the tofu and tempe industry. Perkembangan usaha industri tahu dan tempe di Kecamatan Bangkinang Kota, Kabupaten Kampar banyak dilakukan dalam skala usaha kecil dan menengah sehingga dalam produksi dan pengelolaannya mengalami beberapa keterbatasan seperti keterbatasan peralatan produksi, proses produksi dikerjakan secara tradisional, serta keterbatasan pengetahuan dalam hal pengelolaan dan pengolahan terhadap limbah yang dihasilkan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk melakukan kegiatan bantuan peralatan mesin giling kedelai dan motor diesel di Industri Tahu-Tempe Bu Helma dan Pak Ayusman untuk membantu mitra dalam proses produksi sehingga kegiatan produksi bisa dilaksanakan lebih efektif dan ekonomis dengan hasil yang maksimal. Selain itu, kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi dan pelatihan kepada kedua mitra tentang penanganan dan pengolahan limbah yang dihasilkan yang dapat diproses menjadi pupuk cair organik.  Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan kedua mitra industri tahu-tempe merasa sangat bermanfaat dengan kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan karena adanya bantuan peralatan produksi berupa mesin giling kedelai dan motor diesel serta adanya pelatihan tentang penanganan dan pengolahan limbah yang dihasilkan  menjadi pupuk cair organik. Kegiatan ini diharapkan munculnya suatu sinergi positif antara usaha tahu-tempe dengan usaha pertanian di sekitar industri tahu dan tempe.

Abstract

The legal awareness of the village community already exists and is quite good. However, people still need clarification in applying this knowledge. A simple example is that many village people already know about halal certification and its benefits. However, only a few know the procedure for obtaining a halal certificate for an item. Therefore, this community service program conducted a legal literacy program (LLP) for the people of Mekarsari Village, Carenang District. The method used in this service is socialization and demonstration. Legal literacy socialized in this activity is halal certification, drug prevention, and sexual harassment prevention. Apart from that, this activity also contributed to elementary school students in the village through reading corner activities and study assistance. Kesadaran hukum dari masyakat desa telah ada dan cukup baik. Namun, masyarakat masih mengalami kebingungan dalam menerapkan pengetahuan tersebut. Contoh sederhananya yaitu banyak masyarakat desa telah mengetahui tentang sertifikasi halal dan manfaatnya namun hanya sedikit yang mengetahui bagaimana prosedur mendapatkan sertifikat halal untuk suatu barang. Oleh karena itu, program pengabdian masyarakat ini melakukan program literasi hukum (LLP) untuk masyarakat Desa Mekarsari, Kecamatan Carenang. Metode yang digunakan pada pengabdian ini adalah sosialisasi dan demonstrasi. Literasi hukum yang disosialisasikan dalam kegiatan ini yaitu sertifikasi halal, pencegahan narkoba, dan pencegahan pelecehan seksual. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga memberikan kontribusi untuk siswa-siswa sekolah dasar di desa tersebut, berupa kegiatan pojok baca dan pendampingan belajar.

Abstract

This study determined the levels of metals (calcium, magnesium, potassium, cadmium, chromium, lead, copper, zinc, and iron) in well water obtained from three secondary schools in Sokoto East district, Nigeria. Standard methods, procedures, and analytical grade reagents were used to determine the metals in atomic absorption spectroscopy. The results were expressed using calculated mean and standard deviation and tested using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and found to be significant . The ranges of determined potassium, calcium, and magnesium are  ppm,  ppm, and  ppm respectively; the ranges of zinc, copper, and iron are:  ppm,  ppm, and  ppm respectively; and the ranges of determined cadmium, chromium, and lead are:  ppm,  ppm, and  ppm respectively. Thus, the water contains heavy metals that can elicit adverse effects on school-aged children, especially chronic exposure; therefore, treated drinking water should be provided to safeguard the health and academic capacity of students and other school actors. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kadar logam (kalsium, magnesium, kalium, kadmium, kromium, timbal, tembaga, seng, dan besi) dalam air sumur yang diperoleh dari tiga sekolah menengah di distrik Sokoto East, Nigeria. Metode standar, prosedur, dan reagen kelas analitik digunakan untuk menentukan logam dalam spektroskopi serapan atom. Hasilnya dinyatakan dengan menggunakan rata-rata yang dihitung dan standar deviasi dan diuji menggunakan analisis varians satu arah (ANOVA) dan ditemukan signifikan . Kandungan kalium, kalsium, dan magnesium yang ditentukan masing-masing adalah  ppm,  ppm, dan  ppm; kisaran seng, tembaga, dan besi masing-masing adalah:  ppm,  ppm, dan  ppm; dan rentang kadmium, kromium, dan timbal yang ditentukan adalah:  ppm,  ppm, dan  ppm. Dengan demikian, air tersebut mengandung logam berat yang dapat menimbulkan efek buruk pada anak usia sekolah, terutama paparan kronis; oleh karena itu, air minum olahan harus disediakan untuk menjaga kesehatan dan kapasitas akademik siswa dan pelaku sekolah lainnya.

Abstract

Children prefer to play games on gadgets rather than explore the environment around the house. This situation is exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic that is happening around the world, which has caused the children's play environment to become more limited. The passivity of these children is, of course, very bad for their development and growth. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce fun activities that can be done around the house to avoid the coronavirus. The activity introduced in this community service activity is farming in polybags. The plant introduced was ginger because this plant has many benefits, including as a body warmer. This service activity received a positive response from the children who took part in the event. This introductory activity is expected to raise children's interest in simple farming around the house. Saat ini anak-anak lebih memilih untuk bermain game di gawai dibandingkan dengan melakukan eksplorasi lingkungan di sekitar rumah. Keadaan itu diperparah dengan pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi di seluruh dunia, yang menyebabkan lingkungan bermain anak menjadi lebih terbatas. Kepasifan anak-anak tersebut tentunya sangat berdampak buruk bagi perkembangan maupun pertumbuhan mereka. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengenalan aktivitas yang menyenangkan sekaligus dapat dilakukan di sekitar rumah agar terhindar dari virus korona. Aktifitas yang diperkenalkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah bercocok tanam di polibag. Tanaman yang diperkenalkan yaitu jahe karena tanaman tersebut memiliki banyak manfaat, di antaranya sebagai minuman penghangat tubuh. Kegiatan pengabdian ini mendapat respo  positif dari anak-anak yang mengikuti acara. Kegiatan pengenalan ini diharapkan dapat memunculkan ketertarikan anak-anak untuk bercocok tanam secara sederhana di sekitar rumah.

Abstract

Computer-aided design (CAD) is one of the competencies taught to vocational students. The software commonly used is Auto CAD, which focuses on constructing two-dimensional (2D) drawings. AutoCAD can also create three-dimensional (3D) drawings, but its features are limited. Based on these conditions, through community service activities, Politeknik Kampar improves the competence of students of SMK Negeri 1 Bangkinang Kota, Department of Mechanical Engineering. This activity aims to strengthen the CAD competence of vocational students using Solidworks software. The results of the training activities show the level of success with indications of a positive response from the participants and the participant's understanding of the material being taught. Computer-aided design (CAD) merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang diajarkan kepada siswa smk. Software yang biasa digunakan adalah Auto CAD yang fokus pada konstruksi gambar dua dimensi (2D). AutoCAD juga dapat digunakan untuk membuat Gambar tiga dimesnsi (3D), tetapi fiturnya sangat terbatas. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, Politeknik Kampar turut serta dalam meningkatkan kompetensi siswa SMK Negeri 1 Bangkinang Kota, Jurusan Teknik Pemesinan melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kompetensi CAD dari siswa smk menggunakan software Solidworks. Hasil kegiatan pelatihan menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan dengan indikasi adanya adanya respon yang positif dari peserta serta pemahaman peserta terhadap materi yang diajarkan.
