Abstract

This research is motivated by problems related to Interpersonal Communication which is still not good at the Education Office of West Sumatra Province. The formulation of the problem in this study is How is Interpersonal Communication between leaders and employees, employees and leaders and between fellow employees at the Education Office of West Sumatra Province. This study aims to explore information about Interpersonal Communication at the Education Office of West Sumatra Province in terms of aspects of trust, including empathy and positive attitude. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The study population was all employees at the West Sumatra Province Education Office, totaling 165 people. Take a sample of 132 people using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a Likert Scale Questionnaire model with five answer choices, namely always (SL), often (SR), sometimes (KD), rarely (JR), never (TP). This research questionnaire was tested on 30 people and processed using the SPSS 26.0.0 program, the results of the instrument were declared valid and reliable. Data analysis techniques use the average formula (mean). The results showed that interpersonal communication in aspects 1) Interpersonal Communication between leaders and employees from trust, inclusion, empathy and a positive attitude with an average score of 4.23 is in the good category, 2) Interpersonal Communication between Employees and leaders from trust, causes , empathy and a positive attitude with an average score of 4.25 are in the good category, 3) Interpersonal communication between fellow employees of trust, cause, empathy and a positive attitude with an average score of 3.76 is in the good category. Thus it can be concluded that Interpersonal Communication at the Education Office of West Sumatra Province is in the good category with an average score of 4.08. Based on these results, the authors suggest that Interpersonal Communication at the Education Office of West Sumatra Province is maintained and needs to be improved again so as to create effective Interpersonal Communication between employees and leaders and between employees.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the problems found in Student Discipline Development by Teachers at State Vocational Schools in the East Padang District. This study aims to gather information about Student Discipline Guidance by Teachers in State Vocational Schools throughout the East Padang District in terms of exemplary, supervision, sanctions/punishments, and habituation aspects. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The research population was students at State Vocational Schools in the East Padang District, totaling 961 people. A sample of 104 people was taken using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a Likert scale model questionnaire with five answer choices, namely always (SL), often (SR), rarely (JR), sometimes (KD), never (TP). This research questionnaire was tested on 30 people outside the sample in the population and processed using the SPSS 26 program, the results of the instrument were declared valid and reliable. Furthermore, the data is processed by the average formula (mean). The results showed that the teacher's fostering of student discipline in aspects 1) exemplary with an average score of 4.15 is in the good category, 2) supervision with an average score of 3.68 is in the pretty good category, 3) sanctions/punishments with an average score of 3.98 are in the good category, 4) habituation with an average score of 4.21 is in the good category. Thus it can be concluded that Student Discipline Development by Teachers in State Vocational Schools throughout the East Padang District is in the good category with an average score of 4.01. Based on these results, the author suggests that the Guidance of Student Discipline by Teachers in State Vocational Schools in the East Padang District be maintained and needs to be further improved so as to improve the effective coaching of student discipline by teachers.

Abstract

This research is motivated by problems related to the low managerial competency of school principals in managing teachers at SMKNs throughout Pariaman City. The formulation of the problem in this study is how is the managerial competency of the Principal in managing teachers at SMKNs throughout Pariaman City. This study aims to dig up information about the Managerial Competence of Principals in Managing Teachers at SMKNs throughout Pariaman City in terms of the aspects of coaching and professional development of teachers, utilization of teachers, giving rewards/awards, and motivating teachers. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The study population was all teachers at SMKN in Pariaman City, totaling 346 people. A sample of 83 people was taken using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a Likert scale model questionnaire with five answer choices, namely always (SL), often (SR), sometimes (KD), rarely (JR), never (TP). This research questionnaire was tested on 30 people and processed using the SPSS 26.0.0 program, the results of the instrument were declared valid and reliable. Data analysis techniques use the average formula (mean). The results showed that the principal's managerial competence in aspects 1) coaching and professional development of teachers with an average score of 4.53 was in the capable category, 2) utilization of teachers with an average score of 4.39 was in the capable category, 3) giving rewards/awards with an average score of 3.95 was in the capable category, 4) motivating with an average score of 4.11 was in the capable category. Thus it can be concluded that the Managerial Competence of Principals in Managing Teachers at SMKNs throughout Kota Pariaman is in the capable category with an average score of 4.25. Based on these results, the authors suggest that the Managerial Competence of Principals in Managing Teachers in SMKNs throughout Pariaman City is maintained and needs to be increased again so as to improve the managerial competence of principals in managing teachers.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tentang pembinaan disiplin peserta didik melalui keteladanan, pengawasan, punishment/hukuman, dan reward/ganjaran. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi 1.260 siswa dengan sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 93 siswa, penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik Proportional Random Sampling. Instrumen penelitian adalah angket model Skala Likert yang telah teruji validitas dan realibilitasnya. Data hasil penelitian diolah dengan menggunakan rumus rata-rata (mean). Secara keseluruhan pembinaan disiplin peserta didik oleh guru di SMKN 5 Padang tergolong dalam kategori baik dengan skor rata-rata 4,10.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the Class Climate of State Vocational Schools in East Padang District is viewed from the aspects of speed, cohesiveness, democracy, and the physical environment of the class. This research is quantitative descriptive. The research population was 961 students of Padang Timur District State Vocational School and a sample of 102 people using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a Likert scale model questionnaire. The results of the study found that teacher perceptions in aspects 1) cohesiveness with an average score of 4.27, is in the good category, 2) speed with an average score of 4.19, is in the good category, 3) democracy with an average score of 3.94 is in the good category, 4) the physical environment of the class with an average score of 3.96 is in the good category. Thus it can be concluded that the Class Climate of State Vocational Schools in East Padang District is in the good category with an average score of 4.09. Based on these results, the authors suggest that the Class Climate of Public Vocational Schools in East Padang District can be maintained and needs to be improved again so as to create a conducive Class Climate.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dari hasil pengamatan yang peneliti lakukan di SMKN 9 Padang, terlihat bahwa pelayanan guru praktik masih belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pelayanan guru praktik dalam proses pembelajaran di laboratorium yang mencakup responsiveness, reliability, tangible, assurance, dan emphaty. Ada 5 (lima) pertanyaan yang dijawab dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: 1) seberapa baik pelayanan guru praktik menurut siswa SMKN 9 Padang tentang sikap responsiveness (daya tanggap) guru, 2) seberapa baik pelayanan guru praktik menurut siswa SMKN 9 Padang dilihat dari segi assurance ( jaminan) guru, 3) seberapa baik pelayanan guru praktik menurut siswa SMKN 9 Padang tentang sikap emphaty (empati) guru, 4) seberapa baik pelayanan guru praktik menurut siswa SMKN 9 Padang mengenai tingkat reliability (kehandalan) yang diberikan guru, 5) seberapa baik pelayanan guru praktik menurut siswa SMKN 9 Padang mengenai ketersediaan tangible (berwujud) yang diberikan kepada guru. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi siswa kelas XI PH3, XI PH4, XI K1, XI K5 di SMKN 9 Padang yang berjumlah 135 orang dengan sampel 101 orang. Besarnya sampel ditentukan dengan menggunakan proportional random sampling. Instrument penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket dengan model skala likert tentang pelayanan guru praktik di laboratorium yang berjumlah 40 item. Sebelum angket tersebut digunakan sudah terlebih dahulu diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Data yang terkumpul diolah dengan mencari skor rata-rata dan tingkat capaian rata-rata. Dari hasil pengolahan tersebut diperoleh bahwa pelayanan guru praktik dilaboratorium SMKN 9 Padang dari aspek pelayanan guru praktik di SMKN 9 Padang dilihat dari dimensi responsiveness guru (cepat tanggap dan ketepatan). Menurut hasil penelitian siswa memperoleh skor rata-rata 3,95 dengan kategori baik. Pelayanan guru praktik di SMKN 9 Padang dilihat dari dimensi reliability guru (terpercaya dan kehandalan guru). Menurut hasil penelitian siswa memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,01 dengan kategori. Pelayanan guru praktik di SMKN 9 Padang dilihat dari dimensi tangible guru (ketersediaan fasilitas dan kesediaan personil). Menurut hasil penilaian siswa memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,03 dengan kategori baik. Pelayanan guru praktik di SMKN 9 Padang dilihat dari dimensi assurance guru (kemampuan tenaga guru, keramah-tamahan, dan komunikasi). Menurut hasil penelitian siswa memperolah skor rata-rata 4,00 dengan kategori baik. Pelayanan guru praktik di SMKN 9 Padang dilihat dari dimensi emphaty guru (perhatian terhadap siswa dan pemahaman kemampuan siswa). Menurut hasil penelitian siswa memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,002 dengan kategori baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian penulis dapat ditarik kesimpulan 5 indikator dari ₉ sub indikator yang penulis teliti mencapai kriteria baik dengan skor rata-rata 4,002.

Abstract

The background of this research is the problems found in the use of BOS funds in State Senior High Schools in Pariaman City. This study aims to gather information about teachers' perceptions about the use of BOS School Operational Assistance Funds in public high schools in Kota Pariaman in terms of 1) utilization for the acceptance of new students 2) utilization for library development, 3) utilization for carrying out assessment activities and evaluation of learning, 4) utilization for the professional development of teachers and education staff, 5) utilization for maintenance of school facilities and infrastructure, 6) utilization for financing school management, 7) utilization for procuring consumable learning practicum equipment. This type of research is descriptive. The population of the study was teachers at Public High Schools in Kota Pariaman, totaling 263 people. The sample in this study were 73 people. The sampling was carried out using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. The instrument in this study was a Likert scale model questionnaire with answer choices, namely Very Good (SB), Good (B), Fairly Good (CK), Not Good (KB), Not Good (TB). This research questionnaire has been tested for validation and reliability, then the data is processed using the average formula (mean). The results of the study indicated that teachers' perceptions of the use of School Operational Assistance funds in Public High Schools throughout Kota Pariaman in aspects 1) Utilization of BOS funds for new student admissions with an average score of 4.11 were in the good category, 2) utilization for library development with an average score of 4.22 was in the good category, 3) utilization for carrying out learning assessment and evaluation activities with an average score of 4.16 was in the good category, 4) utilization for the professional development of teachers and education staff with an average score of 3, 94 is in the good category, 5) utilization for maintenance of school facilities and infrastructure with an average score of 4.07 is in the good category, 6) utilization for financing school management with an average score of 4.03 is in the good category, 7) utilization for the procurement of consumables for learning practice with an average score of 3.94 is in the good category. Thus it can be concluded that the use of BOS funds in Public High Schools throughout Pariaman City is in the good category with an average score of 4.06.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh belum oprtimalnya pembinaan disiplin siswa pada SMK Negeri Kecamatan Padang Barat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh infomasi tentang pembinaan disiplin siswa pada SMK Negeri Kecamatan Padang Barat yang dilihat melalui aspek pengawasan, motivasi, keteladanan dan pemberian sanksi/hukuman. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Jumlah populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 766 orang siswa dengan jumlah sampel 88 orang siswa. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket atau kuisioner dengan model skala likert. Analisis data dengan menggunakan rumus rata-rata (mean). Secara keseluruhan pembinaan disiplin siswa pada SMK Negeri Kecamatan Padang Barat termasuk pada kategori baik dengan skor rata-rata yang diperoleh 3,84.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan rendahnya semangat kerja tenaga administrasi sekolah di Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri se-Kota Pariaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa tinggi semangat kerja tenaga administrasi sekolah di Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri Se-Kota Pariaman yang ditinjau dari dari indikator antusias, inisiatif dan senang terhadap pekerjaan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, yang memiliki populasi sebanyak 64 orang tenaga administrasi sekolah. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 41 orang tenaga administrasi sekolah. Dalam penelitian ini instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket dengan menggunakan skala likert dengan jumlah soal 46 item. Instrumen pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan lima pilihan jawaban yaitu selalu (SL), sering (SR), jarang (JR), kadang-kadang (KD), tidak pernah (TP). Angket penelitian ini telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, selanjutnya data penelitian diolah dengan rumus rata-rata (mean). Dari hasil pengolahan data didapat bahwa semangat kerja Tenaga Administrasi Sekolah di Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri se-Kota Pariaman pada indikator 1) antusias dengan rata-rata 4.26 pada kategori tinggi, 2) inisiatif dengan rata-rata 4.23 pada kategori tinggi, 3) senang terhadap pekerjaan dengan rata-rata 4.20 pada kategori tinggi. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa Semangat Kerja Tenaga Administrasi Sekolah di Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri Se-Kota Pariaman beradap pada kategori tinggi dengan skor 4.23. Dari hasil yang didapat maka peneliti menyarankan agar semangat kerja tenaga administrasi sekolah dipertahankan serta perlu ditingkatkan lagi.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the results of the author's observations which show the poor role of the principal as a motivator in public senior high schools in Pariaman City. This study aims to dig up information about Teachers' Perceptions about the Principal's Role as a Motivator in State High Schools throughout Pariaman City in terms of the aspects of Giving Rewards, Providing Examples of Discipline, Creating Fun Working Conditions/Atmosphere and Providing Encouragement to Progress. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population of the study were 247 teachers from State Senior High Schools in Pariaman City. A sample of 75 people was taken using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires and the results were analyzed by calculating the mean score. The results showed that the teacher's perception of the principal's role as a motivator in public senior high schools in Pariaman City was in the good category, with an average score of 3.91. Based on these results, the authors suggest that the role of the principal as a motivator in public senior high schools in the city of Pariaman is maintained and needs to be increased so as to increase teacher motivation so that performance becomes efficient and effective.
