Abstract

Practical skills play an important role in learning to achieve maximum learning outcomes. Lack of involvement in skills activities has an impact on learning outcomes achieved by students.This study aims to analyze the improvement of science process skills and student learning outcomes by applying the discovery learning model and the use of a virtual laboratory. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population was 165 students of class XI IPA who came from two schools. The research sample was 113 students, 57 experimental group and 56 control group. This research was conducted in MAN 1 and MAS Oemar Diyan Aceh Besar, Aceh, Indonesia. The research was conducted in the even semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Year. The parameters measured were science process skills and learning outcomes, data collection instruments were multiple choice questions with pretest-postest techniques. Science process skills data and learning outcomes were analyzed using parametric statistics using the independent sample t test. The results showed the correlation between science process skills and student learning outcomes was obtained r = 0.842, this indicates that between science process skills and student learning outcomes has a positive corelation with strong interpretation after being taught with the application of discovery learning models and the use of virtual laboratory on excretory system topic

Abstract

Abstrak: Indonesia merupakan negara dengan keanekaragaman etnis dan budaya yang tersebar di berbagai daerah. Potensi dan kearifan lokal yang dimiliki oleh berbagai suku bangsa belum secara optimal diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran di sekolah sebagai sumber belajar. Dadiah merupakan salah satu makanan tradisional dari Sumatrera Barat yang biasa disajikan  sehari-hari pada berbagai acara adat secara turun menurun. Dadiah merupakan produk fermentasi alami berbahan dasar susu kerbau murni. Proses fermentasi terjadi pada wadah berupa tabung bambu. Hasil penyelusuran ke sekolah pada materi Biologi khususnya Bioteknologi,  dadiah sebagai potensi lokal khas Minangkabau tidak pernah diperkenalkan, padahal dadiah merupakan potensi lokal yang perlu dilestarikan. Membelajarkan pembuatan dadiah melalui praktikum dapat menggali dan  melatih keterampilan proses sains (KPS) siswa. Oleh karena itu tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan sumber belajar biologi berbasis potensi lokal untuk meningkatkan kemampuan keterampilan proses sains siswa. Metode pengembangan sumber belajar yang digunakan adalah metode ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Sumber belajar yang akan dikembangkan berupa rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP), Lembar kerja siswa (LKS), bahan ajar, evaluasi (soal keterampilan proses sains). Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh sumber belajar untuk membelajarkan bioteknologi sederhana pada biologi khususnya materi dadiah yang valid. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa KPS siswa mengalami peningkatan pada katergori sedang dengan N-gain 0,61. Kata Kunci : sumber belajar, potensi lokal, dadiah, Minangkabau, fermentasi, keterampilan proses sains

Abstract

Critical thinking and computational thinking are important abilities to have in this century. The reality showed that learning of critical thinking and computational thinking have not been optimally accommodated. This study aims to analyze the learning needs in improving the critical thinking and computational thinking skills of elementary school students. The research subjects consisted of 144 grade IV students and 38 grade IV elementary school teachers spread across 12 districts in Kebumen Regency. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire on student and teacher needs as well as semi-structured interviews with grade IV teachers. The data analysis technique was carried out in a descriptive qualitative manner. The results of data analysis showed that 65.7% of teachers wanted interactive multimedia and 77.1% agreed that meaningful learning could be created using the inquiry method. Based on these needs, the media to be developed is a combination of interactive multimedia and inquiry method namely inquiry based interactive multimedia.

Abstract

Kelangsungan pendidikan selama pandemi ini tergantung pada berbagai faktor, salah satunya kesiapan guru. Dengan diberlakunya belajar dari rumah, guru difokuskan untuk menerapkan pembelajaran daring kepada siswa dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi/platform yang tersedia untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas pembelajaran. Persoalan yang muncul adalah apakah sekolah-sekolah di Aceh Utara beserta sumber dayanya sudah memiliki kesiapan untuk mengembangkan dan melaksanakan pembelajaran daring, dan sudah mampukah guru-guru di sekolah menyiapkan diri untuk mengimplementasikan pembelajaran daring. maka perlu diadakan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai analisis kesiapan guru dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran daring di sekolah se Aceh Utara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan ex post facto dan survey. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner yang disebarkan di seluruh guru di Aceh Utara khusunya guru bidang IPA dan Matematika yang berjumlah 100 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur kesiapan yang dikemukakan oleh Aydin dan Tasci yang memiliki beberapa kriteria yang menjadi acuan dalam penilaian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa skor rata-rata kesiapan guru dalam implementasi pembelajaran daring adalah 3,91. Berdasarkan kriteria yang ada maka kesiapan guru matematika dan guru fisika di Kabupaten Aceh Utara dalam penerapan pembelajaran daring adalah siap namun memerlukan sedikit peningkatan kemampuan dari guru dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring. Aspek kesiapan guru dalam penerapan pembelajaran daring yang memerlukan peningkatan kemampuan dalam skala menengah, diantaranya yaitu kemampuan guru dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring yang dapat meningkatkan proses belajar mengajar, kepeduliaan guru dalam penerapan pembelajaran daring di sekolah dan kemampuan untuk memadukan pembelajaran daring dengan pembelajaran di kelas.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the positive countries for the corona virus (Covid-19). Experts cite several reasons for the increasing number of cases, one of which is the attitude of the public who careless about minimizing contact between people, the lack of sanctions for violations of self-quarantine, and the lack of location information that the community must avoid. The attitude of caring society, especially education actors, is certainly one of the important things that needs attention. Environmental care and responsibility are character values that need to be developed. Students can get character education through the learning process and learning resources, one of which is textbooks. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an integration of character values and what is the percentage of integration of character values in high school chemistry textbooks that have been used by teachers in learning, especially the character of environmental care and responsibility. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using the questionnaire and observation sheet instruments. The sample in this study is the class X chemistry textbook that is most often used in teaching and learning activities at SMA Negeri 2 and SMA Negeri 4 Langsa City. The results showed that there was an integration of the character values of environmental care and responsibility in the X grade chemistry textbooks used by teachers of SMA Negeri 2 and SMA Negeri 4 Kota Langsa. The integration of environmental care character values is 38%, while the responsibility character values is 63%. The integration of the character values of environmental care and responsibility in the class X chemistry textbook appears in the column project activities, student activities, content content, and evaluation.

Abstract

The assessment tools must be developed to measure the competencies in 21st century skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving. Critical thinking is seen as a prerequisite for problem-solving abilities. Therefore, this study aims to produce critical thinking test with problem-solving context on the salt hydrolysis material, also measure students’ mastery of the critical thinkings sub-indicators and problem-solving indicators. The research method used the development and validation. Participants involved in the test were 42 students of class XI who had studied salt hydrolysis at a high school in Bandung. The product from this research is critical thinking skills test instrument in the context of problem-solving as many as 10 multiple choice with an open reason on the salt hydrolysis material. Based on results of test quality, the developed test has good and decent criteria. The instruments declared valid based on the content validity at the CVR value and the empirical validity on Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient, and reliable with Cronbach Alpha value of 0.823. Criteria for empirical validity and reliability test as a whole are included in high and very high. The results analysis quality of the items as a whole have medium difficulty level, very good distinguishing power, and good distractor effectiveness. The results of level student mastery in the critical thinkings sub-indicators and problem-solving indicators that are most mastered are to express problems and mention facts related to the problems. Meanwhile, the least mastered are drawing conclusions according to facts and checking the feasibility of the solutions made.

Abstract

Student who do not have an interest in lessons will find it difficult to achieve optimal success, and the way students learn also affects student learning outcomes. The research aims to determine the effect of interest in learning and how students learn in understanding student concepts. The type of research used is survey research. The  research subjects were 60 students of class X Ar-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School Dau Malang. The research instrument was adapted and developed from previous research.The concept understanding instrument was adapted from the Energy Concept Assessment and Energy and Momentum Conceptual survey questions. Data processing using multiple regression analysis. The data analysis technique used multiple regression analysis. The data analysis results show that the value of Fcount = 46,946 Ftable = 4.001, these results indicate that there is an influence on students' interest in learning with concept understanding. Obtained the results of testing how to learn and understanding the concept of Fcount = 55.364 Ftable = 4.001, it can be concluded that there is an influence on student learning and conceptual understanding. Furthermore, the results of testing the effect of student interest in learning and learning methods on concept understanding were obtained Fcount = 40.153 Ftable = 3.150, so that there was an effect of interest in learning and learning methods on understanding the concept of business and energy theory

Abstract

Learning process during Covid-19 pandemic should have been anticipated because the 21st century and IR 4.0 era obligated teachers to facilitate student-centered learning and used of IT-based teaching materials, according students' needs and characteristics. Although, often found unqualify teaching materials. So, learning outcomes' target and students self' learning aspect will be obstructed. The research aimed to improve students self' learning and learning outcomes by implementing e-module. The research was final step of previous research (R D) which has produced a valid e-module. The research was the quantitative descriptive method. The research type used was quasi experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample technique used was purposive sampling with 30 students of SMPN 2 Kandis as sample. The data collection technique was used questionnaires of students self' learning and tests of learning outcomes as instruments. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics (percentage) for questionnaires, and paired sample t-test and N-Gain for tests. The results showed that students self' learning increase after using e-module from 64.69% to 81.04% (medium-high category). Also with students learning outcomes, obtained t0 = 7.55 ≥ ttab = 1.69 (dk = 29, α = 0.05) which means there was an increase. Based N-Gain = 0.76, the increasing in medium category. Thus, the implementation of integrated sains e-module with connected type on energy subject can be an alternative to improve students self' learning and learning outcomes

Abstract

The emergence of the 4.0 industrial revolution requires university graduates to have 21st-century thinking skills that can support them to compete globally. However, the low 21st-century thinking skills of prospective teachers in the group of ways of thinking (critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making) make the learning process should be able to train and develop these thinking skills. One way to train prospective teachers' 21st-century thinking skills is through the textbooks used in lectures. This study aims to develop textbooks based on socioscientific issues on the topic of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study used the RD research method with ADDIE design which is composed of 5 stages: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. textbooks were applied at the implementation stage by involving second-semester prospective teachers who contract Environmental Knowledge courses. The instruments used in this study included textbook validation sheets and essay tests. The validation results were analyzed using descriptive analysis, while the essay test results were analyzed using SPSS. The results of the study showed that the socioscientific issues-based textbooks on the SDGs topic received a very good expert assessment and had met the standards of the appropriateness of the content, language, graphics, presentation, and socioscientific issues. Prospective teachers' 21st-century thinking skills in the group of the way of thinking  also improved significantly after using socioscientific issues-based textbooks. These indicated that the textbooks which have been developed were effective in practicing the 21st-century thinking skills of prospective teachers.

Abstract

Many students in Indonesia are not responsive about the environmental problems around them. This study aimed to (1) analyze environmental literacy differences between male and female students, (2) analyze environmental literacy differences based on gender and parental occupations, and (3) analyze the influence of the interaction between gender and the parents’ occupations. This study used a quantitative approach. This study consisted of 70 students in 11th grade as a subjects. The subjects were determined randomly in three majors, i.e. multimedia, nursing, and pharmacy. Students' environmental literacy was measured using the MSELS instrument developed by McBeth, 2011. The results study showed that no significant difference in knowledge and cognitive skills between male and female students, but there were significant differences in attitudes and behavior. Moreover, there was no significant difference in knowledge, attitudes, and cognitive skills between students whose parents work. However, there were significant differences in behavior between students whose parents' jobs were different. There is a significant relationship between male students in the aspects of knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and cognitive skills, but not significantly related to female students' behavior. There was no significant interaction between male and female students and their parents' different environmental literacy occupations.
