Abstract

The aim of this research was to describe the short-short story (al-qisah al-qasirah jidan) of Morocco in Ha’al-Hurriyah anthology by Muhammad Said ar-Rihani by using structural approach. This approach is selected to show the text objectively. This paper analyzed the short short story using the theory of Rimmon-Kenan naratology and Qalyubi stylistics. It tried to find out how the storytelling models in the short-short stories entitled Haitsuma Kana al-Zulmu Fatsamati Watani and Ghidza’ al-A’mal in the anthology are and how language style are used in both short-short stories. The results of this research show that for storytelling, both short-short stories uses narrative and dialogue technique, each of which lead to the centralization and compaction of the theory. Both short-short stories contain structural aspects of metaphorical repetitions whereas in the imaginary realm, there are characteristics of title selection, the use of majaz (metaphor) and itnab (hyperbole).

Abstract

This article aims at describing women existence as reflected on Bride Song poem written by Christina Rossseti. Rossetti’s view on women’s lives was inspired much by her awareness toward the their conditions in Victorian’s era. In the meantime, women were shaped to be an individuals who fulfill the ideal standard as preferred by men. By Bride Song, Rosetti tried to break patriarchal domination toward women. She wanted to turn back the existence equivalence between men and women based on human rights. She also attemped to open the world’s perspective to accept women’s existence as important as men’s and not just a binary opposition of it. Women’s existence in Bride Song is not only a struggle against men’s domination in Victorian era, but it also  has relevance with contemporary issues on women’s struggle to show their existence in this modern era.

The findings of this research show that there are 309 data of words containing spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. Four translation techniques are used by translator namely graphology normalizations, established equivalent, compensation, and deletion. The translation method used tends to be established equivalent with domestication ideology. The translation of words with errors by graphology normalization techniques produced accurate translations with decreases in acceptability. This is because the translator removes the autism markers from the source language to the target language.

Abstract

Adaptation, as one form of response to literary texts, is a matter that has been much discussed in the world of literature or the world of art in general. An interesting case of adaptation is the adaptation of al-Fil al-Azraq's novel to a film showing the effort of an adapter to preserve the novel story as well as transforming it into a new work with a variety of creativity in it. This study aims to reveal the individuality, effects, and meaning of the text contained in the novel al-FÄ«l al-Azraq as the background text and the film al-FÄ«l al-Azraq as a foreground work as well as the media changes occurring in the adaptation work . To see this process of adaptation, the theory of aesthetic response from Wolfgeng Iser. The results of this study indicate that the adapters do dialectic with the source text and then display it in their adaptation work through changes in the text in the form of allusions, negations, and blank filling. These changes also affect the individuality, effects, and meaning of the adaptation work to the point of shifting from the source text. This shows that the work of adaptation is a new work that has its own individuality and creativity, a work of repetition without replication.
