JIPI (Jurnal IPA dan Pembelajaran IPA) aims to serve original articles on the latest issues and trends in high-quality research focused on technology-integrated science and/or science learning (chemistry, biology, physics, and environment). Technology integration includes learning media, curriculum, assessment processes and science learning outcomes, as well as the application of the latest technology in pure science research. The editors welcome submissions of papers on recent theoretical and experimental research related to: Results of theoretical and empirical research studies on science learning with integrated technology. We invite manuscripts that investigate science learning with the integration of web-based technology, Android, Arduino, nanotechnology, virtual labs, technological and pedagogical content knowledge research, STEM and/or STEAM, sociological issues, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other relevant issues. relevant to science learning. The results of research on the application of science learning media which focuses on studies related to the latest trends in the use of technology-based science learning media at all levels of education and in society. The results of research related to the implementation of the science learning curriculum (chemistry, biology and physics) have contributed to developing the latest trends in the implementation of the science learning curriculum with the integration of technology at all levels of education including science learning design, competency analysis and syllabus. The results of research related to the assessment of science learning processes and outcomes contribute to developing the latest trends in technology-integrated science learning assessment at all levels of education. The results of research related to science teacher education include original theoretical and empirical studies, including professional preparation of teachers, implementation of their work, and/or career development based on the latest technology. Research results related to technology-based science learning in everyday life outside the formal classroom. Papers should examine experiences in environments such as the community, home, internet, museums, and other aspects that develop interest, knowledge, and/or application of science. Science learning that emphasizes attention to aspects of problems and factors related to equality. Research results related to pure science research that is currently trending (chemistry, physics, biology and the environment).

Abstract

Most children are interested in comics so that the media has the potential to be used in the learning and teaching process at school. We have developed and implemented comic strips for learning related to disasters in the fifth-grade science subject at SD Negeri Buengcala, Aceh Besar District. The designed materials were validated by experts and the attractiveness of the comic media was measured based on class observation during teaching and learning proceses related to students’ involvement and responses through the questionnaires. Quantitaively the questionnaries were scored (1 to 4) from too bad to very interested. The experts concluded that the media are valid with unrevised criteria including the attractiveness of media and language used. Based on the questionnaires, the students also agreed that the class was very interested. Therefore, the comic strip media can be developed potentially for disaster education at elementary schools

Abstract

High school students should be able to think critically in responding to myths related to exclusive breastfeeding and family planning programs, because they are used to thinking scientifically. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of critical thinking skills of students on exclusive breastfeeding material and family planning programs in SMA Negeri I Bintan Timur. This quantitative descriptive study was conducted in the even semester of the 2018/2019 school year. The sample in this study amounted to 100 students who were determined using the Random Sampling technique. The data in this study are students' critical thinking skills. Researchers collected data using test instruments in the form of essay questions and interview rubrics. The instrument was developed based on aspects of  critical thinking, namely: (1) Basic clarification; (2) Bases for a decision; (3) Inference; (4) Advanced clarification; (5) Supposition and integration; (6) Abilities facilitate the other abilities. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using a statistical formula in the form of a percentage. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the critical thinking ability of the 11th grade students of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in East Negeri I Bintan is in the less category. Based on the aspect of critical thinking ability, the results obtained are aspects of basic clarification, bases for decisions, and inference in the good category, aspects of advanced clarification in the less category, while aspects of suppositionand integration and the abilities to facilitate other abilities in the middle category

Abstract

Practicum is often not carried out in schools because of the limitations of practical tools. Therefore, it is necessary to develop practical tools to make it easier for students to understand the concept of thermochemistry. This study aims to produce a valid and practical thermochemistry practicum tool. Validity is measured from the material and media aspects using a validation sheet. Meanwhile, practicality was measured using teacher and student response questionnaires. This type of research is research and development (research and development) ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The results of the analysis show that the thermochemical practicum tool developed is declared to be very valid with an average value of 0.94 and 0.92. The results of the practicality test obtained very practical criteria in the initial field trial and the main field trial an average of 94.64% and 97.92%, respectively. Thus, the thermochemistry practicum tool developed is suitable to be used as a medium for learning thermochemical material.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku saku pada materi Reaksi Reduksi Oksidasi yang dapat digunakan di MAN Model Banda Aceh. Pengembangan buku saku ini dirancang sebaik mungkin agar dapat menarik minat siswa untuk membaca dan mempelajarinya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Development (RD). Buku saku ini diujicoba dalam 2 tahap, tahap pertama diujicoba pada kelompok kecil dan tahap kedua diujicoba pada kelompok besar, sebelum diujicoba buku saku divalidasi oleh 3 orang tim ahli. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIA-3 (Matematika IPA-3). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa lembar validasi dari tim ahli dan wawancara, selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif yaitu persentase (%). Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh, hasil validasi tim ahli pada buku saku pertama diperoleh nilai rata-rata persentase dari ketiga tim ahli sebesar 71% dengan kategori Baik, kemudian buku di perbaiki dan divalidasi kembali dengan nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 94% dengan kategori Sangat Baik. Hasil ujicoba pertama pada kelompok kecil dengan jumlah 3 orang siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 74% dengan kategori Baik, dan hasil ujicoba kedua pada kelompok besar dengan jumlah 30 orang siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 98% dengan kategori Sangat Baik. Dengan hasil analisis data tersebut maka buku saku pada materi reaksi reduksi oksidasi dapat digunakan di MAN Model Banda Aceh.

Abstract

The 21st century is the century where science literacy into focus on science education or science. The results of the test PISA the year 2018 showed that the literacy skills of students in Indonesia are still low. The average scientific literacy of Indonesian students is 396 and still below the score specified by the OECD 489. Compared to other countries, Indonesia ranked no 9 from the bottom to the aspects of assessment science. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of the influence of the teaching materials of integrated IPA learning outcomes and the improvement of scientific literacy of students in SMP/MTs. This study used the effect size analysis method that studied 20 articles. Based on the results of the research that has been done can be known as 1) the use of integrated science teaching materials with literacy has a significant effect on the aspects of the theme, especially on the theme of motion in everyday life with an effect size of 4,41 in the high category, 2) the use of integrated science teaching materials with literacy has a more effective effect on Grade VIII level aspects with an effect size of 1.80 high categories, and 3) integrated science teaching materials with literacy have a significant effect on aspects of learning outcomes, especially knowledge aspects with an effect size of 1.80 high categories

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian dengan suatu perangkat pengamatan fenomena konveksi Rayleigh Benard. Perangkat pengamatan terbuat dari kotak kaca yang dibatasi oleh dua plat, yaitu plat bawah dan plat atas. Plat bawah lebih panas dari plat atas yang berfungsi untuk memanaskan lapisan horisontal fluida dari bawah. Media yang digunakan untuk mengamati dinamika fluida adalah air yang dicampur dengan serbuk gergaji kayu jati sebagai representasi dari partikel air dengan massa jenis reratanya ρrerata=0,99 g/cm3. Variasi ketebalan air (d) yang digunakan 5 cm dan 6 cm dengan variasi perbedaan suhu (  T) rata-rata kenaikan 5oC. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati fenomena pusaran air. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan handycam dan dijalankan dengan shoftware windows movie maker yang meiliki ketelitian waktu sampai 0,01 sekon. Hasil pengamatan diperoleh bahwa peningkatan perbedaan suhu (  T) antara dua plat berakibat pada peningkatan kecepatan gerak partikel air dalam konveksi yang digambarkan dengan sebuah diagram percabangan. Fenomena pusaran air teramati pada saat T30°C, d=5 cm dan T20°C, d=6 cm, dengan nilai R107. Selanjutnya fenomena ini digunakan sebagai representasi pembelajaran terjadinya angin puting beliung sebagai suatu peristiwa akibat perbedaan suhu dan tekanan dari suatu fluida.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia and around the world is still on going. Teaching and learning activities in schools require a change, one of which is by using the internet network (online) to maintain the implementation and quality of learning outcomes. Lesson Study can improve student collaboration skills, teacher collaboration and implementation of learning. The implementation of lesson study (LS) at SMPN 1 Palangka Raya in collaboration with Palangkaraya University has been carried out in 2 cycles. The implementation of LS in Natural Science (IPA) material is carried out by 4 model teachers and 7-8 observers. Each cycle consists of stages: Lesson Design, Redesign, Open Class, and Reflection. The implementation of learning and collaboration of teachers or students is measured using an observation sheet. Observational data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed that collaboration skills between teachers were obtained in the first cycle of 85.94%, an increase in the second cycle of 96.88%. The activity of teachers in one LS Team reached 100%, while during the Open Class in the first cycle it was 80.08% and the second cycle was 76.83%. The implementation of learning for 8 open lessons from 4 teachers for the first cycle was 93.75% and the second cycle was 95.83%. Students' collaboration skills increased from cycle I (77.08%) to Cycle II (91.67%). Thus, the application of LS to online science materials at SMPN 1 Palangka Raya City can be applied to increase collaboration during the covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan metode eksperimen dapat mengatasi miskonsepsi dan meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada materi rangkain listrik di SMA N 1 Jaya Kabupaten Aceh Jaya, Aceh. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah one group pretest and posttest design. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan pusposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes pilihan ganda beralasan. Angket yang digunakan  angket tertutup dengan jawaban sangat  setuju, setuju, tidak setuju dan sangat tidak setuju. Hasil uji normalitas nilai pretest dan posttest berdasarkan rumus chi kuadrat tidak normal, akan tetapi uji normalitas menggunakan rumus Lilliefors menunjukkan data yang diperoleh adalah normal. Dari hasil analisis data, dapat disimpulkan sebagai hasil identifikasi miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada konsep rangkaian listrik sangatlah bervariasi. Hal ini disebabkan siswa yang menjawab soal berdasarkan intuisi yang salah, reasoning yang tidak lengkap/salah, pemikiran humanistik dan prakonsepsi siswa sebelumnya. Hasil analisis data siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi rata-rata sebelum diberikan treatment sebesar 42,14% dan setelah diberikan treatment rata-rata sebesar 14,64%, sebanding dengan minat belajar rata-rata siswa setelah dilakukan treatment mengalami peningkatan yaitu  rata-rata 67,75 meningkat menjadi 84,67. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan penggunaan metode eksperimen efektif untuk menurunkan persentase miskonsepsi dan peningkatan minat belajar siswa.Kata kunci: Metode,  eksperimen, miskonsepsi dan minat Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of experimental methods to overcome misconceptions and increase interest in learning the material electrical network in SMA N 1 Jaya district of Aceh Jaya, Aceh. The design used in this study is one group pretest and posttest design. The sampling technique pusposive sampling. The data collection was done with multiple choice tests reasoned. Questionnaire to determine the interest of the students after using the experimental method using a closed questionnaire with answers strongly agree, agree, disagree and strongly disagree. Normality test results nilau pretest and posttest by chi square formula was not normal, but the test for normality using the formula Liliefors shows the data obtained was normal. From the analysis of the data, it can be concluded as a result of the identification of the misconceptions that experienced by students on the concept of electric circuits vary. This is due to students who answer the question based on intuition is wrong, reasoning incomplete/false, humanistic thoughts and preconceptions of students before. The results of the data analysis of students who have misconceptions before being given treatment by 42,14% and after being given the treatment by 14,64%. Average interest in learning the students after using the experimental method is higher than the previous 67.75% increase to 84.67%. Keywords: Methods, experiments, misconceptions and interests

Abstract

The lithium-ion battery context can be implemented in learning by using green chemistry in analyzing students' scientific literacy. This study aims to investigate the scientific literacy profile of students who appear in lithium-ion battery learning with a problem-based learning model in high school. The scientific literacy indicator is used based on the 2015 PISA Framework. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted in one of the high schools in the city of Bogor, West Java. The research subjects consisted of 27 students of class XII MIPA 6. The instruments used were observation, LKPD, and audio-video during the learning process. The data obtained were analyzed using Transcript-Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA). The results showed that the 4 indicators of scientific literacy appeared in the learning of the first meeting and the second meeting. The results show that the profile of the emergence of scientific literacy of students at the first meeting is an indicator of scientific knowledge (39%); indicators of science competence (38%); context indicators (13%); and science attitude indicators (10%). The profile of the emergence of scientific literacy of students at the second meeting, namely the knowledge indicator (37%); competency indicators (31%); context indicator (25%); and science attitude indicators (7%). The overall results show that the 4 indicators of scientific literacy that appear are related to each other, but are still low. The low achievement of students' scientific literacy is because they are not used to expressing what is in their minds and teachers have not been able to ask questions that encourage them to be scientifically literate. Analysis of scientific literacy activities and dialogue during learning can be used as a reflection for teachers to evaluate and improve further learning.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk  menginvestigasi kemampuan daya serap serbuk gergaji kayu damar laut (Shorea sp) dan merbau (Intsia sp) terhadap logam Pb(II) dari larutan, dan mempelajari pengaruh kondisi percobaan seperti pH larutan, waktu kontak, jumlah adsorben dan konsentrasi adsorbat. Efisiensi adsorpsi maksimum  berturut-turut sebanyak 95,72% pada pH 4 dan 98,78% pada pH 5 oleh damar laut (Shorea sp) dan   kayu merbau (Intsia sp). Adsorpsi timbal oleh kedua adsorben meningkat dengan bertambahnya waktu dan pH (dari 1 hingga 5) dan menurun dengan menurunnya kekuatan ion. Data kesetimbangan dikorelasikan dengan isotherm Langmuir dan Freundlich. Kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum berdasarkan isotherm Langmuir untuk serbuk kayu damar laut dan kayu merbau berturut-turut sebesar 45,45 mg/g dan 14,706 mg/g dan berdasarkan isotherm Freundlich sebesar untuk serbuk kayu damar laut dan kayu merbau berturut-turut sebesar 1,2475 mg/g dan 1,616 mg/g. Dari hasil tersebut disimpulkan bahwa model Langmuir adalah yang terbaik.Kata kunci: Adsorpsi, damar laut, merbau, isotherm, serbuk gergaji. Abstract. The aim of this work is to investigate the performance of damar laut (Shorea sp) and  merbau (Intsia sp) sawdust  for the adsorption of  lead(II) from aqueous solutions, and to study the influence of the operating conditions such as solution pH, contact time, amount of adsorbent, and concentration of adsorbate.  The maximum adsorpsi efficiencies were 95.72% for damar laut (Shorea sp) at pH 4 and  98.78% for  kayu merbau (Intsia sp) at pH 5.  The adsorption  of lead by both sorbents increased with an increase in contact time and pH (from 1 to 5) and decreased with an increase in ionic strength. The equilibrium data has been correlated with both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms.  The maximum adsorption capacity of the sawdust evaluated by Langmuir adsorption model  by damar laut (Shorea sp) and  merbau (Intsia sp) sawdust was 45.45 mg/g and 14.706 mg/g respectively and by Freundlich adsorption model by damar laut (Shorea sp) and  merbau (Intsia sp) sawdust was 1.2473 mg/g and 1.616 mg/g respectively. The results indicate that the Langmuir model fits the data better.Keywords: adsorption, Shorea sp, Intsia sp, Isotherms, Sawdust.
