Spektrum Communication Journal is an academic journal published quarterly every year every March, June, September, and December by Stikosa-AWS in collaboration with ISKI-Jatim, APJIKI, and ASPIKOM. This journal publishes original researches in multi concepts, theories, perspectives, paradigms and methodologies in the communications studies perspective. The focus of this journal is in the communication studies perspective and the scope of the journal are: Journalistics; Public Relations; Broadcasting (TV and Film); Marketing & Tourism Communication; Media and Studies; Gender Studies; Advertising; Every received article should follow the Author guidelines. Any submitted paper will be reviewed by reviewers. The review process employs Double-blind Review that the reviewer does not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewers.

Abstract

Environmental problems are a major factor not only for now but also for the future. The problem of non-recyclable waste is usually due to plastic packaging that accumulates and doesn’t decompose in a short period of time, therefore the author chooses research at PT Virtus Venturama as an environmentally friendly packaging product, a type of qualitative research with study methods case. PT.Virtus Venturama strives to contribute to environmental sustainability by producing product packaging that is environmentally friendly, and safe for health, this research will discuss how the Marketing Communication Strategy implemented by PT. Abstract

Facebook has various functions including helping professional activities. As a social media used by 140 million Indonesians, Facebook has a significant role in helping journalists work. The phenomenon of using social media references is also widely practiced abroad. However, the convergence of the media questions the limitations of using Facebook by journalists in compiling news. This is because the convergence of media provides flexibility for social media users to be both communicators and communicators in it. This study used a qualitative narrative method which interviewed 9 informants for print, electronic and online journalists. The narrative method describes the practice of using Facebook media sources from the eyes of journalists who are used as sources in presenting news. Purposive sampling is a technique of taking the number of informants. The result of this research is that Facebook is used as a reference media by journalists in finding, managing and compiling news. Limitation on the use of references is in the activity of finding news objects and strengthening news writing data. There are two features on Facebook that are used as references, namely updates and groups. Journalists act as gatekeepers in distributing messages. Steps taken in managing news information on Facebook include: checking, filtering, crosschecking and writing news. Meanwhile, the criteria for information accessed are the weight of information with social impacts, proximity, the tendency of the media regarding news content, content uniqueness, extraordinary, high value and news.

Abstract

This study uses the theory of the Strategic Employee Communication Model for variable X, and uses the theory of factors that influence motivation from Khomsarial Romli. This research uses a quantitative approach and explanative research type. The population in this study were 55 employees of PT Joop Fine Interiors using census sampling technique. The data collection technique used in this study was a questionnaire, then the respondents' answers were processed using a Likert scale and the data analysis technique used was simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS version 20 for Windows. The conclusion of this study on the employee relations variable the majority of respondents answered strongly agree and agree with a total score of 2,946 with a mean of 4.12. On the employee work motivation variable, the majority of respondents answered strongly agree and agree with a total score of 3,207 and a mean of 4.16. The next conclusion, this study proves the influence of employee relations on employee motivation at PT Joop Fine Interiors. The results of this study indicate that employee relations has a positive effect on employee motivation at PT Joop Fine Interiors. This can be seen from the results of the simple linear regression test on the coefficient of determination is 0.462 which indicates that employee relations has a strong effect, amounting to 46.2% of the work motivation of PT Joop Fine Interiors employees and the remaining 53.8% is influenced by other factors outside this research. Based on the hypothesis test, this study proves that there is a significant influence with tcount> ttable (6,745.2007), so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that the regression coefficient is significant, that is, there is an effect of employee relations on employee motivation at PT. Joop Fine Interiors.

Abstract

The need for better relationship between students-supervisor intensifies especially during the final years. A good communication and better social interaction between students and supervisors will assure the research process and thesis writing executed effectively. However, the pandemic of Covid-19 has conjured several barriers. This paper explored the way in which barriers emerged during the mentoring process of final year students and their supervisors amidst the condition of Covid-19 pandemic. It doing so by generating interviews as well as focus-group-discussions with 24 final-year students. This paper concludes that at least five communication barriers are identified during the research process in April-May 2020. They are semantic, individual, interpersonal, physical-media and technological barriers. The need for viable solution is suggested, especially in the hands of the University boards.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The existence of influencers is important in information disclosure in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because, influencers are people who have influence in disseminating information and experiences in a persuasive manner. This research uses a case study method with informant interviews, namely influencers who are officially collaborating with BNPB as volunteers of the COVID-19 Task Force. The results of this study show that the role of influencers has a significant impact on their followers. Content created by influencers in an effort to prevent COVID-19, uses an approach that is persuasive or solicitous in that each content is inserted with education and prevention socialization as well as content that does not contain conversion. To reach people who cannot access the internet, influencers go to the field to communicate directly to meet community leaders, public figures and regional heads. This creates trust between users and their followers, so these influencers have succeeded in having loyal followers. Keywords: Influencers, Persuasive Communication, COVID-19

Abstract

Youth is the most unique stage of development, full of dynamics and problems throughout human life. During this period there were fundamental changes from various aspects, including biological, cognitive and social. Young people in the digital era are trying to find their identity through social media, including YouTube. An interesting phenomenon is the emergence of viral content entitled “Kids Jaman Now”. This study aims to see how the identity of young people is constructed through the contents of "Kids Jaman Now" on the YouTube channel of Ecko Show and Fikrifadlu. Researchers use textual analysis which aims to make it easier to interpret text as a social reality that has and produces meaning. The results of this study indicate that the content leads to the formation of negative youth identities as narcissistic and individualistic generations, the hedonism generation, the decline in moral values ​​and the emergence of the LGBT phenomenon. Abstract

Societal gap is a phenomenon that exists between the layers of society which creates mass significant differences between it. Through the movie Parasite, Bong Joon Ho successfully portrayed a visualization of the societal disparity issue that happens between two South Korea families with different economic backgrounds. This research’s sole purpose is to analyze and evaluate the representation of societal gap which is depicted thoroughly in Parasite’s filmography. This research uses the method of qualitative research with John Fiske’s semiotic analysis. The subject is the movie Parasite which is directed by Bong Joon Ho. The data is obtained by the method of observing and documentation. The data’s unit of analysis is picked solely by the scenes that interpret signs of societal gap, which rounds up to 31 scenes. The data’s examination technique uses the technique of source’s triangulation. The research has brought up a few results such as, (1) The reality level and societal gap is represented in aspects of appearance, the way each families speak, behavior, movements, expression, and the environment that they reside at. (2) The level of representation and societal disparity is illustrated through aspects of the film such as, camera, lighting, music, and voices. (3) The level of ideology and portrayals of societal gap values can be assured to contain values of socialists and capitalists. In the aspect of socialists, the societal gap is seen as something that stands out because of the significant differences that exist between the different layers of society. Meanwhile, the capitalist values can be seen in how the movie has portrayed how a person with a higher position in the society is the capital holder and the ones that exist in the middle to the lower class of society depends themselves on the ones that resides on the higher class of society.

Abstract

Today's social media cannot be separated from daily activities, so that currently the penetration of social media is increasing and giving birth to a new phenomenon, namely the disclosure of one's identity or self-disclosure through social media, especially Instagram. This phenomenon encourages researchers to study the behavior of students in the city of Bandung in expressing their identity. This study used a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm and a phenomenological approach, while determining the subject using purposive sampling technique, namely three students from three universities in Bandung and active users of Instagram. Data collection was carried out by interview and observation to strengthen research data. The results showed that self-disclosure through social media Instagram was carried out only in the open self area starting with a sense of wanting to share moments, experiences and feelings and was deemed worthy to be shared through social media. With the aim of simply sharing information with followers, while maintaining a confidential identity which is a personal identity and can lead to misunderstanding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui Strategi Komunikasi pencegahan trafficking yang dilakukan oleh Dinas Sosial Kabupaten Garut dengan merangkul komunitas masyarakat di Kabupaten Garut. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, studi pustaka, dan dokumentasi untuk pengumpulan data agar mendapatkan data yang objektif. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa besarnya partisipasi komunitas masyarakat lokal dalam upaya pencegahan trafficking turut membantu pemerintah menurunkan angka tindak trafficking yang semakin tinggi. Fungsi organisasi dalam KPI (Koalisi Perempuan Indonesia) dan FKPM (Forum Komunikasi Polisi Masyarakat) di Kabupaten Garut berjalan cukup efektif dalam Pada fungsi informasi, KPI dan FKPM menjadi mitra dinas Sosial dalam menSosialisasikan tindak trafficking pada masyarakat. Pada fungsi regulatif, KPI dan FKPM turut memberikan edukasi berupa Sosialisasi UU berkenaan dengan hukuman yang bisa dipidanakan kepada pelaku trafficking. Pada fungsi persuasif dan integratif, KPI dan FKPM selaku mitra dinsos mengajak dan membuka diri pada masyarakat untuk tidak segan melaporkan kasus yang berkenaan dengan tindak trafficking di lingkungannya masing-masing. Hal ini sebagai upaya untuk memutus mata rantai tindak trafficking yang selama ini tidak disadari oleh masyarakat awam.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of the system, actors in the PSBB Total Jakarta conversation communication network on Twitter, and the contents of the conversation on Twitter about PSBB Total Jakarta which was reintroduced on September 14, 2020. This research method is quantitative with social network analysis techniques, visualization of the network will be in the form of a graph. This research will use a realist approach with a population of netizens from Twitter who have activity on the hashtag #TetapDukungPSBB with 1000 tweets taken on September 14, 2020, on an unpaid netlytic.com account, the results of crawling data will be limited to 1000 tweets and data retrieval in the past 2 weeks. The results of this study show that the system-level communication network in the #TetapDukungPSBB conversation has a diameter of 16 points. The network has a slow deployment, with dominant tweets having no reciprocity, no dominance of actors on information flow, and consisting of a core group of nodes. At the actor level, 5 accounts are considered as a popular actor. There are 1 account intermediary relations on this network that can connect one account to another to communicate with each other. In this network, actors can be said to be quite free in communicating and 5 actors are considered important in the network. Discussions on the network tend to discuss other matters and support the re-enactment of the PSBB.
