Abstract

Abstract

This community service aims to help train the community, especially housewives and farmer groups in Sidorejo Village in carrying out waste sorting independently and intensively as well as providing information on utilizing household organic waste as liquid organic fertilizer. This is because there is still no training on the importance of an effort to utilize waste, especially inorganic and organic waste produced by household waste. The methods used are lectures, questions and answers, forum discussions, and workshops on independent waste management training practices. The strategy for managing inorganic waste such as plastic can be done by recycling and depositing it in a waste bank to reduce environmental pollution. Inorganic waste is difficult to decompose by nature so that plastic waste can be used as handicraft products to reduce waste. Meanwhile, organic waste can be utilized by making liquid organic fertilizer based on EM4 bioactivator which can be applied to plants. With training and information on waste sorting independently and intensively, it is hoped that the community will be more concerned about the environment and be able to manage waste independently so that they can protect the environment and nature. Information in the form of processing organic waste into liquid fertilizer is expected to be continued into organic waste management into liquid fertilizer so that people can increase their income and become business opportunities that can improve people's welfare in the future.

Abstract

One of the determining factors the success of aquaculture is the provision of fish feed. There are many types of fish feed sold in the market, ranging from natural feed to artificial feed. One type of natural fish feed was Daphnia sp. Growth of Daphnia sp can be maximized by utilizing livestock waste as an additional nutrient. The aim of this community partnership program was to socialize to the public about Daphnia sp natural food and provide training to the community on how to cultivate Daphnia sp. The main target was an aquaculture stakeholder namely Women Farmers Group of Permai Tani which was in Gandusari Village, Bandongan District, Magelang Regency. The stages of this activity include tools and materials preparation, program of socialization to partners, implementation, and evaluation program. The working steps of implementing the activity were preparing the tools and materials needed including Daphnia sp seeds, livestock waste (goat manure, chicken manure and eggs) and catfish cultured wastewater as a culture medium. This activity has been carried out well, socialization and training attended by participants from Women Farmers Group of Permai Tani members. The enthusiasm of the participants was very good. This can be seen from sharing and asking activity about how to cultivate Daphnia sp. The results of this activity can increase the production of Daphnia sp which was used as natural fish feed in Gandusari Village, Bandongan District, Magelang Regency.

Abstract

Feed is one of the main components with important function to support the freshwater fish culture success. Sufficient feed quantity and quality can ensure the fish culture cycle continuity. Feed occupies the highest position, which spends 60-80% of the total production cost requirement in intensive fish culture to support the fish growth. The high feed cost is unmatched with the fish selling price, resulting in a minimum profit gain. Based on this condition, a community service, focusing on self-produced feed training needs to be implemented to increase the cost efficiency and effectiveness in freshwater fish culture. This training was conducted in Gunungpring Village, Muntilan Sub-district, Magelang District with fish cultivator communities. The feed used as the object for this training contained artificial and live feed. Training activities contained surveys, field observations, outreach, counseling, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. This training could clearly introduce the community to the use of alternative feeds for ornamental and consumed-fish commodities. Live feed production training included Azolla sp., Daphnia sp., silkworms, and earthworms, while artificial feed included pellets of pf500-1000. This training program increases the community understanding and skills, followed by the quality and quantity of fishery products. As the training also has an impact on the regional food security with massive community assistance, so harvest failure can be minimized optimally.

Abstract

In Indonesia the marine and fisheries sector has a strategic position both for foreign exchange contributions and for improving people's welfare. Therefore increasing the competence of the marine and fisheries community is an important thing that must be considered. To accommodate the increase in science and technology in the marine and fisheries sector, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries through the Marine and Fisheries Research and Development Agency in the 2013-2014 period published a KP Technology Recommendation book. The book contains 71 technologies that have been tested and their benefits recognized. Unfortunately, not many of these technologies have been introduced and adopted by society. Moving on from these conditions, in 2021 will carry out KP Adaptive Technology Technical Guidance activities which aim to socialize these technologies so that they can be adopted as needed at the location. This technical guidance activity was carried out in several locations, one of which was in Tegal City, Central Java. The main objective of this activity is to increase the competency of extension workers as a link between researchers and the community while also improving their work ethic. Technology material in this Bimtek consists of: 1). Tiger Shrimp Cultivation with the IMTA method; 2). Application of Pato Aero Probiotics in Catfish; 3). KGM as a breakwater; 4). Srikandi Tilapia Cultivation in Ponds; and 5). Aspects of Institutional Development and Business Control. Based on the results of an analysis of the pre and post test scores conducted by Bimtek participants in Tegal, most of the participants had an increased knowledge score in the range of 50-75% on 3 items and a score of 0-50% on 1 item. The lack of transfer of knowledge and technology can be caused by many factors, but the most important is the instructor's personal motivation in participating in this technical guidance activity. Recommendations that can be suggested for the implementation of this technical guidance activity in the following year are to focus more on technology material that will be transferred according to the needs at the location so that it can be effective and useful.
