Abstract

This article highlights the inexistence of balance among the various education models in Indonesia. In one side, there is a practice of education that hardly emphasikes on studying and education of values and religious and ethical attitude and behavior but it is not balance with enough attention to the expansion of human basic potencies, like critical, creative, discipline, spirit [off achievement, and others. On the other side, there is an opinion of more emphasiking on improvement of thinking quality, expansion of rational attitudes, analytical and critical, but, according to him, less to care to saving effort and exploiting the student fitrah.

Abstract

The research is done in Pondok Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) al-Mansur Popongan. The objectiveofthestudyis to elaboratehow pesantren stands in providing the religious education service to society. This study is carried out with qualitative approach. The result of the study shows that the religious education particularly if it is service model provided by pesantren up to this time has been sufficiently adequate, seen from its availability of the supporting facilities aspect, infrastructure, service and theresponsiveness tothesantri. Theeducation service held by pesantren is Pre-School, MTs (Islamic Junior High School) and MA (Islamic Senior High School), Madrasah Diniyah (School of Religion),Tahfiz al-Qur'an (Memorizing al-Qur'an), Tarekat and Majlis Taklim. Abstract

Fazlurrahman in his conception always emphasizes on the understanding of science from the wide meaning and context. The science cover all dimension of life. There is no dichotomy between the secular science and the Islamic one. Accordingly fit can be realized in the concept of Islamic education universally, hence during brief time Islamic education will possibly become competitive compare to the west education. Integrated approach which integrates the "secular science" and Islamic science will probably bears Moslem scholar in the future.

Abstract

This research is aimed at studying the model of development for teachers at Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School). The research was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hakim Lombok where thousands of young generations of Moslems have been studying Islamic knowledge and science. The research used qualitative method with interview as main tool of data collection. The research found that Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hakim where Kyai (Moslem intellectual) is regarded as a model of education is one of the biggest pesantren in Lombok. The research also found that most of the teachers were graduates of universities and teaching subject in line with their educational background.

Abstract

The role of the pesantren is not only concerned with educational and social-religious aspects but also broader, namely social transformation. In developing pluralism awareness in multicultural era, the pesantren has the important role. At the pesantren, there are many values that can be applied to meet the challenge. The existence of the pesantren, nowadays, is closely related to social affairs. Thus, to optimize this role, it is necessary to make a serious, .gstematic and sustainable effort because not all of the pesantren has the urge to do it.

Abstract

The education is well-administered in the event that Islamic school as education administration is able to provide a qualified teaching staff with the support of condition of the school environment and community surrounding the school which in fact lives in order and stability. This condition would be complete if; one of other determining factors, parents' involvement which in this matter is represented by the Islamic school committee is also able to perform properly its four main functions as advisory agency, supporting ageng, controlling agent', and mediator. This research attempts to measure the effectiveness of performance of Islamic committee by way of observing the extent to which the foregoing functions may be appropriately performed.

Abstract

The results of this research indicate that Islamic schools' preparedness in attaining the minimum education service standards (educators and education personnel according to Education National Standards) is categorked as fair. However, the Islamic schools' preparedness has not either reached ideal condition or maximum level as there are still weaknesses found in several components in terms of educators I teachers, Islamic school principals or supervisors. Teacher competence (at Islamic Elementary School and Islamic Junior High School) is categolked as fair with an average score of 3.9; school principal competence (at Islamic Elementary School and Islamic Junior High School) is categorized as fair with an average score of 3.8; meanwhile, supervisor competence is categoned as fair with an average score of 3.6.

Abstract

An image of Islamic school as high-qualiry institution will he meaningless i fit cannot be identified and the community cannot gain overall benefit. The irony is even the actors of education in Islamic school are unable to recognke and feel the benefit from such quality, hence the development of Islamic school either in the context of state intervention or community participation is not always directed toward a- constructive way. Therefore, the further challenge faced by the education institution of Islamic school is how to make the image of Islamic school as a high-quality institution is recognked by the community. Furthermore, how the image be in- line with the mandate of National Education System Law. This paper actually strives for reviewing the- extent to which a strategic position in national education may be identified and interpreted into a good image design by the community. In addition, it is also prepared to find strategies which may be elaborated in the context of developing the image of. Islamic school so as to be able to give a meaningful contribution to improve the life as a nation.
