Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to examine Phaleria macrocarpa fruit powder mixed on feed in order to cure infected sangkuriang catfish by A. hydrophila. The advantage of this research was as an alternatives method using Phaleria macrocarpa fruit powder to cure sangkuriang catfish infected by A. hydrophila. This research was conducted on Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Determination of hematocrit and total leucocytes were conducted in UPT Klinik Sriwijaya University, Indralaya from October until November 2014. This research was  designed based on Complete Randomized Design with six treatments and three replications. The fish was infected by A. hydrophila with density of 2.2.106 cfu.mL-1 using injection method. The catfish has been reared for 31 days and fed with pellet enriched  with 0 %, 1.2 %, 2.4 %, 3.6 % and 4.8 % Phaleria macrocarpa fruit powder. Feeding frequency was three times a day. The parameters observed on this research were injury diameter, the percentage of cured fish, hematocrit concentration, total leucocytes, survival rate, growth, feed efficiency and water physical and chemical properties. The result showed that the addition of P. macrocarpa fruit powder on feed was effectively cured the infection caused A. hydrophila revealed by decreasing of injury diameter. The best treatment was the addition of 2.4 % P. macrocarpa. This treatment could increase hematocrit concentration and total leucocytes, gave the highest results on survival rate (95 %), absolute weight growth (22.4 g), absolute length growth (5.38 cm) and feed efficiency (77.9 %).     Keywords : Aeromonas hydrophila, catfish, infection, treatment, P. macrocarpa

Abstract

ABSTRACT Snakehead is one of fishery commodity that has a good market prospect and potential to develop as a culture fish. One of the problem in rearing of snakehead was low in survival rate. In the begining of rearing, snakehead did not respond to commercial food, because of that many culturists have not succeeded on rearing snakehead in intensive culture. Mixing of snakehead and tilapia in one pond or polyculture will affect feeding respond to commercial food. The aim of this research was to determine survival rate and growth of snakehead reared as polyculture system with tilapia due to different density percentage and similar size of snakehead and tilapia. The research held in Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program, AgriculturalFaculty, Sriwijaya University in November to December 2014. The research was designed using 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were P1 (100% snakehead), P2 (75% snakehead and 25% tilapia), P3 (50% snakehead and 50% tilapia), P4 (25% snakehead and 75% tilapia) and P5 (100% tilapia). The result of the research showed that different density percentage was not significantly different in survival rate and growth of snakehead. The highest survival rate of snakehead 83.3% was shown by treatment of 100% snakehead (P1). The highest survival rate among polyculture treatments was found for 75% snakehead and 25% tilapia (P2) namely 79,1%, and the lowest value 74,7% was indicated by treatment of 25% snakehead and 75% tilapia (P4). The highest absolute weight growth and absolute length growth  was shown by treatment of 100% snakehead (P1) namely 2,61 g and 1,9 cm, respectively the highest absolute weight growth and absolute length growth among polyculture treatments was indicated by treatment of 75% snakehead and 25% tilapia (P2), which were 2,51g and 1,8 cm, and the lowest values were 2,39 g and 1,7 cm for 25% snakehead and 75% tilapia treatment (P4).   Key word: snakehead, tilapia, population percentage, plastic pond

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the effect of natural  honey to male percentage of betta fish by masculinization. This researchwas conducted at FisheriesBasic Laboratory,  Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University on January– February 2018. This research  usedcompletely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment in this research was4 day of betta fish larvae  that submersed in 5 ml/L  natural honey with different immersiontime.The treatmentconsisted of P0 (without natural honey), P1 (12 hours of immersion), P2 (16 hours of immersion), P3 (20 hours of immersion),and P4 (24 hours of immersion). The observed parameters were post-immersion survival percentage, percentage of male betta fish, post- rearing survival percentage and water quality. The result showed the percentage of male betta fish was 47,50 % (P0), 66,35 % (P1), 73,51% (P2), 75,37 (P3), and 85,14 % (P4). Water quality during maintenace were temperature 27,4-28,8 oC, pH 5,3-5,8, DO 3,43-3,59 mg/L and amonia 0’001-0,002 mg/L. Treatment of P4 (24 hours of immersion) indicatedthe best treatment with larval survival percentage andmale percentage were 90.00% and 85.14% respectirely. Keywords : Betta fish (Betta splendens), masculinization,natural honey

Abstract

An effort to prevent  Aeromonas hydrophila diseases  in catfish (Mystus nemurus)  performed using antibiotic was less safety. Prevention using natural substances mix with fishmeal could overcome the problem. The study was conducted to investigate fismeal potential containing herb of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) and leaves of Jambu biji (Psidium guajava) with different dose given to fish aslong as 60 days. Treatment P1 (without sambiloto flour and jambu biji leaves), P1( 10 g of sambiloto flour + 10 g of jambu biji flour/kg of fish meal), P2 (20 g of sambiloto flour + 20 g of jambu biji flour/ kg of fish meal), P3 (30 g of sambiloto flour + 30 g of jambu biji flour/ kg of fish meal). After 60 days, infection of  Aeromonas hydrophila through intraperitonial with concentration of 108 cell/ml and dose of 0,1ml/fish was conducted. Result of study show that catfish feed with fismeal containing sambiloto  and jambubiji could increase survival rates and growth rates (P˂0,05), but fishmeal containing sambiloto and jambu biji leaves was not effective to privent diseases coused by Aeromonas hydrophila on catfish (Mystus nemurus).   Keywords : Andrographis paniculata, Psidium guajava, Aeromonas hydrophila, catfish (Mystus nemurus)

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of study was to know the effect of combination of black soldier fly larva and pellet for growth and survival rate of Pangasius djambal and also to know the optimal food proportion combination of black soldier fly larva and pellet for growth and survival rate of P. djambal. The experiment was arranged has been done for 56 days in the Jambi Freshwater Aquaculture Development Center (JFADC). Fish that used were P. djambal with average weight of 10.17 g. They were placed in aquarium size 100x50x40 cm3 with the density 10 fish/aquarium. The experiment was arranged in a completly randomized design (CRD) with five treatments. Food combination tested were as follows : P1 (100% pellet), P2 (75% pellet and 25% black soldier fly larva), P3 (50% pellet and 50% black soldier fly larva), P4 (25% pellet and 75% black soldier fly larva), P5 (100% black soldier fly larva). The measured parameters were daily growth rate, food convertion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and survival rate of P. djambal. The result of this current experiment indicated that combination of black soldier fly and pellet influenced daily growth rate, food convertion ratio, protein efficiency ratio, but not influenced survival rate of P, djambal. The optimal food combination proportion wich gave the best daily growth rate, food convertion ratio, protein efficiency ratio was 97.0-82.5% pellet and 17.5-21.0% black soldier fly larva. Abstract

ABSTRACT The climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) is very difficult to spawn naturally in the cultivation environment. The aim of this research was to know the best dose of broiler pituitary extract for latency period, fecundity, fertilized egg percentage, hatching egg percentage, survival rate of climbing perch (D1-D3) larvae. This research had been conducted from April-May 2015 at Laboratory of Budidaya Perairan,  Aquaculture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya Unversity, Indralaya. This research method used completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. Females broodstock were induced by broiler pituitary extract with different doses that were, 400 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg, 600 mg/kg body weight and Induced by that synthetic gonadotrophin hormone (positif control) 0,5 ml/kg body weight. The parameters observed during the research were latency period, fecundity, fertilized egg percentage, hatching egg percentage, survival rate of climbing perch (D1-D3) larvae and water qualities. The result of this research showed that if considered from latency period and fecundity that synthetic gonadotrophin hormone more effective compared with broiler pituitary extract, but if in terms of the fertilized egg percentage, hatching egg percentage, and survival rate of climbing perch (D1-D3) larvae, that synthetic gonadotrophin hormone as effective as broiler pitutary extract. The range of water qualities were temperature 28-30 0C, pH 5.34-6.98, DO 3.13-5.97 ppm, and ammonia 0.009- 0.0018 ppm. Key words : Climbing perch, spawning, broiler pituitary extract

Abstract

ABSTRACTBiofloc technology needs carbon sources to biofloc forming. The objective of this research is the effect of pineapple,rice-washing liquid, and sugar mixture as carbon sources to the rearing media of catfish that will be  cultured with biofloc system. This reseach conducted for 30 days from April to May 2016 in the Perumahan Yusuf Halim Pondok Ijo, Jalan Lintas Timur KM 32 Indralaya, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Provinsi Sumatra Selatan. This Research is using completely randomized design which are contained by 4 treatments and 3 replication the treatments are carbon sources from molase with C/N 15 Ratio (P0), carbon sources from mixture of pineapple, rice-washing liquid and sugar with C/N 10 Ratio (P1), C/N 15 Ratio (P2), C/N 20 Ratio (P3). Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine survival rate and growth of snakehead juvenile (C. striata) at water elevation different levels of rearing media. The parameters observed during the study were survival, growth and water quality. This study used a complete randomized design with four treatments, namely maintaining the water level in rearing media of snakehead juvenile with the water level P1 (5 cm), P2 (10 cm), P3 (15 cm) and P4 (20 cm) with three replications. The results showed that the difference of culture media water levels significantly affect the survival rate, but not significantly effect on the growth of snakehead juvenile. The best survival rate obtained on media treatment P1 was to 96% and the lowest survival obtained at the media P3 was to 30,66%. Value for absolute length growth of snakehead juvenile highest in the treatment  P2 with value 2,55 cm and the lowest in  P4 treatment with a value of 2,14 cm. While the absolute weight growth of snakehead juvenile highest in treatment P3 with a value 0,81 g and the lowest weights in the treatment P4 with value 0,65 g. Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to analyze the business impact of aquaculture on water quality conditions and socio-economic communities in Cinta Manis Lama Village District of Banyuasin I Banyuasin district. This research was conducted in Cinta Manis Lama Village Subdistrict Banyuasin I Banyuasin district, in March to May 2012.The results show refers to the South Sumatra Governor Regulation 16 of 2005, the results of water quality analysis that is on standard quality parameters including temperature (280C-310C), COD (0.32 mg/l-3.87 mg/l) and ammonia (0.00198 mg/l-0.22280 mg/l). While under the quality standard parameters include pH at Station 4 (5.0 and 5.5), DO at Station 4 (4.88 mg/l and 5.02 mg/l), BOD5 at all observation stations (3.09 mg/l-4.82 mg/l) and total phosphate at all observation stations (0.03546 mg/l-0.19980 mg/l). The results also show that the aquaculture business is conducted in Cinta Manis Lama village can increase the percentage increase in income of at least 22.22% to 250% and also improve relations/social interaction.   Keywords: aquaculture, water quality, socio-economic

Abstract

ABSTRACT Silk worm is one of natural feed with high nutrien content. The supply of silk worm is still rely on nature, therefore needs to be cultured. The aim of this research was to know the growth of silk worm that cultured on combination media of quail manure and tofu waste fermented and tapioca flour. This research conducted since March until May 2015 in Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Aquaculture Program Study, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research method used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications : (Treatment A : 50% fermented quail manure, 35% fermented tofu waste and 15% tapioca flour, Treatment B : 50% fermented quail manure, 25% fermented tofu waste and 25% tapioca flour, Treatment C : 50% fermented quail manure, 15% fermented tofu waste and 35% tapioca flour). The fermented quail manure, fermented tofu waste and tapioca flour were entered to container base on composition treatment with water flow 525 mL/min. Silk worm were put on media for 42 days. The results showed that culture of silk worm used fermented quail manure, fermented tofu waste and tapioca flour gives significantly effect (P<0,05) on biomass production, population and nutrition content of silk worm. The treatment B reached the fastest time of population and the highest of population, biomass also nutrien contain. Based on the results, the culture of silk worm use quail manure and tofu waste fermented and tapioca flour could increase biomass, population and nutrition content of silk worm.   Keywords : tofu waste, fermentation, quail manure, growth of silk worm, tapioca flour
