Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive multimedia to support thematic learning in elementary schools. The main results of the study are interactive multimedia products that are expected to be learning media to support the improvement of students' cognitive skills. This study was a Research and Development (R & D) study. The subject of this study was elementary school students. The data collection included: interviews, observations, tests of cognitive skills (pre-test and post-test), student responses, and documentation. The results of the study can be concluded that: students' responses to the development of interactive multimedia at the field testing stage are 80.24% and are included in the good and feasibility category; student learning outcomes in the testing phase of the main fields before and after the use of interactive multimedia increase. Moreover, based on the t-test the results are 101,333. So that it can be concluded that multimedia learning developed meets the requirements for teaching and learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the standard process for preparing the 2013 curriculum lesson plans, the teacher's ability in preparing the 2013 curriculum lesson plans, and the guidelines used in the preparation of the 2013 curriculum RPP. Data collection techniques by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses inductive qualitative data analysis. Data analysis was carried out using data analysis techniques proposed by Miles and Huberman which included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the RPP preparation process must follow the standards the drafting process, and the existing rules or guidelines published by the government, then the teacher's ability to compile the 2013 curriculum lesson plan can be said to be "very good" referring to the Permendikbud. This study concludes that in the preparation of the lesson plan always refers to the standard of the preparation process and the ability of teachers in preparing the 2013 curriculum lesson plans is very good with reference to the Permendikbud.The implementation of the 2013 curriculum on teacher pedagogic competence in the preparation of learning tools can run well with the support of meeting national education standards and teachers who have good motivation, creativity, and performance.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the design, tools, methods, media, teaching materials, and assessments of reading non-literary text distance learning at junior high school level. The design of this study is qualitative descriptive. The sources of data in this study are Indonesian language teachers, junior high school students, and learning documents. The data in this study are documents of distance learning planning and implementation. The data collection techniques used were observations, interviews, and documentations. Some of the results of this study are: reading non-literary text distance learning was designed in combination and offline form; teacher have made a complete reading non-literary text distance learning lesson plan; the distance learning method used consists of lectures, discussions, and recitations. Permanent teaching materials used in this study were the Indonesian language textbooks for grade VII and VIII published by the Ministry of Education and Culture; the assessment used in reading non-literary text distance learning was a test conducted by using the Google Forms media. Based on the results of the study, PJJ is implemented in a varied way both in terms of planning, implementation and evaluation. All elements of PJJ implementation must improve the quality of PJJ itself. In addition, the use of online and offline learning designs by teachers must be balanced. This interactive, interesting, and innovative learning can successfully happen if all parties work together optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in student critical thinking from the Blended Socratic Method of Teaching (BSMT) model that is applied to visual programming courses, and determine the level of student satisfaction with the BMST model. This study uses the experimental method of choosing 1 class in the Informatics Engineering Education study program to be given a pretest, then applying the BMST model and finally to the posttest. Descriptive method is also used to determine the level of satisfaction with the BMST model. The instrument uses critical thinking skills and questionnaire tests to determine the level of student satisfaction. Collected data was analyzed with descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed a significant increase in students' critical thinking between pretest and posttest significantly. The results of the overall aspects of satisfaction with the BMST model applied showed a very satisfied category. It was concluded that the BMST model could increase student critical thinking and the level of satisfaction with the BMST model was very satisfied in the visual programming course. The renewal of the BMST model compared to other blended learning models is the existence of syntax to conduct case studies and percentage of case analysis, online and offline discussions with the concept of growing student critical thinking, the existence of monitoring discussions and the teacher's reaction to student responses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difference of students’ study result between the joyful learning strategics using the experimental and project method seen from the creativity and self-discipline. The research method used in this study was the experimental method. The research design used in the study was a quasi-experimental research design. The sample was obtained by using the Cluster Sampling technique which consisted of two classes through scientific-based learning observations using project and experimental methods in different classes. The data collection on the learning outcomes of the knowledge aspect used to test techniques, the attitude aspect used the questionnaire technique, and the skill aspect used the observation sheet. The results of this study shows that project method influencing students’ study and skill result better than the experimental method. The learning outcomes of students’ knowledge and skills with creativity were better than those of students with low creativity. The learning outcomes of students with high self-discipline were better than those of students with low self-discipline.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of web-based mathematics teaching materials using Moodle from the Learning Management System (LMS) with a Contextual Approach to Geometry in the eighth grade of junior high school. This research is development research by adapting the Borg and Gall development model, consisting of expert validation, small group trials, and large group trials. It uses the t-test to measure product effectiveness. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and written tests. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively using descriptive and inferential statistics. The effectiveness test results show that the t-table value is 2,988, with a significant level of 0.012 smaller than 0.025 (0.012 <0.025). Based on these results, Ho is rejected, so there is an average difference between the experimental class and the control class. Based on these results, it can be stated that the product developed in the form of an E-mathematical module with a contextual approach effectively improves student learning outcomes in geometry material.

Abstract

This study was conducted to characterize school leaders at Hindang District, Leyte Division, Philippines. By complete enumeration, the study considered all active elementary teachers at Hindang District. Primary data was collected through a developed structured questionnaire in regards to the various characteristics of a school leader which serves as an independent variable of the study. On the other hand, secondary data was collected at Department of Education regarding the elementary school classifications at Hindang District as follows: good, better and outstanding. With the aid of ordered logit models, the study highlighted some influencing factors of school classification governed by school leaders. Results showed that on the average, elementary schools in Hindang District are considered to be “better” based on the DepEd classification. This implies that these schools have a room for improvement with the help of an effective school leaders. Based on the constructed ordered logit models, it is shown that a personal attribute of a school leader has an inverse effect in outstanding school classification. In addition, it is revealed that result-focus, teamwork and people development were significant factors in achieving an outstanding performance in school. Hence, a leader must be a results driven that has the ability to create momentum based on their ultimate goal. Furthermore, school leaders must set clear directions, establish expectations since they are in a position to shape the goals, direction and structure of schools.

Abstract

This study aims to apply adaptive and engaging e-learning media for students who take e-learning courses, and see how the results of learning styles and learning activities while using these media in the learning process. The research method used was an experiment. The instrument uses a learning style questionnaire and an observation sheet of e-learning activities. The findings in the experimental class students have varied learning styles such as visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles, from these results the kinesthetic learning styles are classified as higher, and the results of learning activities with a percentage of 73.75% are good categories. The results of the learning activities of the control class students with a percentage of 63.28% both categories. In conclusion, students use adaptive media egangging e-learning where the kinesthetic learning style is more domainic, and the results of student learning activities are higher than the results of activities using conventional e-learning media. The renewal of these findings contributes differently to previous online learning, because through adaptive and engaging e-learning media students are able to learn online according to their learning styles such as visual, kinesthetic and auditory learning styles on the website and accompanied by online learning activities.

Abstract

Distance learning or online learning is one of the impacts caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Many problems occur during online learning, including special education teachers. The purpose of this study was to see the perceptions of special education teachers towards distance learning or online learning carried out for children with special needs. This research uses descriptive analysis with case study method. The data were collected using questionnaire questions and the data were analyzed using inductive and thematic analytics. The results of the survey conducted showed that there are still many teachers with special needs who have difficulty with distance learning for children with special needs so that there is a need for the development of creativity from teachers in learning during the pandemic.

Abstract

This article presents theoretical and empirical reviews on the nature, rationale and the implementation of teaching model developing students’ 4C skills in the classroom. It also shares the research result conducted in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Course of English Education Study Program. This descriptive research was conducted in the form of Research and Development Model by Gall, Gall, and Borg which resulted in the development of 4C-based learning model integrated in task-based learning framework. The expert judgement on the quality of the model proved that the developed model gained the mean score of 4.85 (from 5 Likert Scale) which means that the model was considered very good. The 4C-based learning model is a solutive learning model to be used in the 21st century in delivering TEFL course. Thus, it is expected that the lecturers of TEFL Course implement the model regularly to enable student teachers to obtain the required skills later both in their real teaching practicum and in their future career.
