Abstract

This study aimed at determining the characteristics of learning media "zebra bridge" to improve learning outcomes of mathematics on measurement unit material, to examine the feasibility and effectiveness of learning media "zebra bridge" to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics on measurement unit material. Research development was performed in several levels in order to produce the valid and beneficial product. According to Borg & Gall, the technique of collecting data was practiced by test, questionnaire and interview method. The analysis of data used qualitative descriptive statistic. Then the results of the quantitative analysis were described qualitatively. Based on the results of the validator assessment it showed that the quality of learning media "zebra bridge" had good quality, so it was worth to be used in learning. The practicality of learning media "zebra bridge" according to its implementation in learning, had been successfully implemented by researchers, both at meeting 1, meeting 2, and meeting 3 on every learning activities and problems in learning had been given the alternative solution to support the improvement of learning activities. The effectiveness of cognitive learning test results after using learning media "zebra bridge" in learning has 100% classical completeness.

Abstract

This study aimed at finding and describing the implementation of character education based on Pancasila values-foundation and philosophy of the Indonesian state. The qualitative approach was used to allow the hidden phenomenon comprehensively. In terms of data collection techniques, both in-depth interviews and documentation were employed. This in-depth interview was conducted to all students of PPKn-civics-program in 2017 within 30 respondents and 2 lecturers of the subject holder. Furthermore, the technique of this research was the interpretation of the data qualitatively. The significant findings to emerge from this study were that the implementation of character education in learners ranging from planning to implementation has not been optimal as expected. The lack of the optimization was caused by some various obstacles, namely the lack of awareness in the students themselves and supervision of the lecturer when the students apply the value of Pancasila in the learning process. Obstacles occurred in the implementation of character education rooted from the low awareness and support of learners in applying the values ​​in the daily life. These barriers were not very significant because the lecturers could still handle them to apply the Pancasila values in the student lives. Finally, these all required the support and encouragement of the various authorities in the institution.

Abstract

This article aimed at uncovering the skeletal construction of Islam Nusantara or Islam Archipelago in the digital era. More than that, it was trying to offer the concept of Virtual Islam archipelago as part of the cultural broker as well as the social change agents of the kiai-Islamic expert, respected for a noble character-in cyberspace. The various acts of anarchy, in the name of religion (Islam) in the recent world, become the basic focus. The well-mannered face of Islam-guarded, cared for, and grown by salafussholih Wali Songo (the nine revered saints of Islam), ulama, kiai, santri (a student of Islamic boarding school), moderate community-were tarnished by a small part of radical Islam. The design of Islam-which was rahmatan lil'alamin or borrowing the Azzumardi Azra language that Islam with a smiling face-on the contrary, suddenly became grim, cruel, and frightening. In fact, what was displayed by radical Islam was not a real portrait of Islam Archipelago (Indonesia) itself. The radical Islamic arenas exposed in such a way, whether through newspapers, television, social media, and cyberspace-websites, bloggers, twitter, facebook, WhatsApp-were essentially the key to their group's existence. The obvious findings to emerge from this research were three things namely: (1) The skeletal construction of Islam archipelago as a big house of Islam (Indonesia) was practiced through acculturation of local culture and Islam. Among them, through the tradition of pilgrimage of the grave, tahlilan-repeated recitation, wiridan, kenduri-ritual meal (slametan), barzanji-recounting Prophet Muhammad’s life, the Memorial Day of Islam, and silaturrahmi; (2) the new Islamic faces of the Islam archipelago in the virtual world can be formatted through four models, namely: (a) virtual Islam archipelago without identity, (b) Innate energy-based virtual Islam archipelago, (c) virtual community-based Islam archipelago, and (d) NU (Nahdlatul Ulama)-based virtual Islam archipelago ; (3) the repositioning of contemporary ulama as the driving force of Islam archipelago, one of them, was marked by the expost facto of the good activities from kiai (beneficial to the people) in the cyberspace.

Abstract

The aim of this current research was at revealing whether or not there was a positive influence of Guided Discovery Learning method through the case examples of students' understanding in statistical hypothesis test analysis. It was considered that quantitative research method, with the experimental design using control group design (The Posttest-Only Design with nonequivalent Group), would usefully decide and justify the results. This research was carried out at IAIN Mataram at the students of Islamic Religious Education Department from May to October 2017. In addition, the instrument used to measure students' understanding was the essay problem. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used a correlated pairs test (t-test) through the one-tail test using independent sample t-test. The t-test analysis revealed that 63% of the total students, in the control class, had a low understanding of statistical hypothesis test. Then, 66% of the total students, in the experimental class, were classified as having a high understanding of statistical hypothesis test analysis. The additional justification also rooted from the result of hypothesis testing. Because to (3,255) was higher than tt ((0,05: 72)=1,990). Then, H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected at the significant level α=0,05. It could be inferred that the discovery lesson learning strategy, through case example, had a positive influence on students' understanding in analyzing statistical hypothesis test.

Abstract

This research aimed at (1) finding out the way teachers in internalizing the value of heroism in social studies learning; (2) compilation of IPS learning plan (RPP) for the internalization of heroic values. The population of this research was all school teachers located in Teuku Umar Cluster, Kalijambe Subdistrict, Sragen Regency spread in 7 Elementary Schools. The sampling of this research was census method. The data were collected through a questionnaire in the form of interview, observation and documentation study. Meanwhile, the data was analyzed qualitatively. The findings of the research showed that internalizing the heroic values were conducted by carrying out daily activities that can expose the values of heroism, the preparation of lesson plan (RPP) of IPS for such goals-the heroic values exposure were adapted to the existing curriculum. Moreover, the heroic values ​​were to be internalized through; (1) historical or social studies; (2) Extra-curricular activities like the scouts, 3) the flag ceremony every Monday, (4) Ceremony of the Independence Day, 5) Heroes Commemoration Ceremony, 6) Holding activities to the struggling museum, (7) study to historic place, 8) Providing history books or social studies, (9) hanging the images of the national heroes, (10) students’ discipline habituation; and (11) the list of the students’ violations.

Abstract

This research was aimed at: (1) Identifying prehistoric sites in Pacitan District, (2) Utilizing prehistoric sites in Pacitan District as learning resources, and (3) uncovering learning strategies to improve students' understanding and character through learning resource utilization. It was kind of qualitative research using case study approach. In addition, the data was collected from the literature study, interview, and observation as well as content analysis. The trustworthiness of the research, in terms of validity, was by means of data triangulation. Song Terus and Song Keplek was a prehistoric site located in Pacitan which was the human shelter cave at the time. The traces of the legacy found in Song Terus and Song Keplek were fossils of fauna, flora, and artifacts in the form of tools of prehistoric human life; here is able to be used as a source of historical learning, especially the pre-history courses. The learning strategies, used to enhance students' understanding and characters such as historical awareness, nationalism, and academic skills, could be done through receptive teaching methods, discussions, inquiry, and field trips.

Abstract

The problem-solving ability is closely related to the obtainment of the learning end, where problem-solving ability becomes an important basis for measuring the extent to which students absorb theories on the theories being studied. Problem-solving is the application of the theory to find a way out of the faced mathematical problems. Therefore, this research aimed at determining the problem-solving profile owned by the students in linear algebra courses. This classroom action research was carried out from May to July 2017, on the second semester consisting of 30 students in mathematics education program STKIP PGRI Pacitan academic year 2016/2017. The Assessment of the results of problem-solving was tests in each cycle I (first).

Abstract

The Parental involvement in every child development has a big role. Parents play a big role in shaping the attitude and character of children, especially in learning. A positive attitude helps the child achieve learning success, and this success can be achieved with active parent involvement in accompanying learners throughout the learning process. This study aimed at viewing how the parental involvement shaped a positive attitude of students’ learning. To uncover the data, the qualitative approach was employed by using three instruments involving questionnaire, semi-open interview, and passive observation. The findings of this research showed that there were the involvements of parents in encouraging the positive development of students, the spirit, and the quality of student learning. The further findings were the positive attitude of student learning in the form of being: 1) diligent to study in the class, (2) diligent in doing homework, (3) disciplined learning, (4) active in participating the class, (5) self-confident for the learning results, 6) concentrated in learning, (7) independent, and (8) responsible.
