Abstract

This study aims to get an overview of the features of spelling errors in the preparation of official letters and to find out the factors that cause written language errors in official letters at one of the universities in Medan City. The procedure of this study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis procedure. The data collection method in this study is in the form of a documentary method. The information analysis method uses language error analysis procedures, namely information identification, information classification, and determining the frequency of errors. The source of information for this research is in the form of official letters written at one of the universities in Medan City. Research information in the form of written language that contains spelling errors. The research results show that there are errors in the use of spelling, and these errors are listed in interlanguage errors, such as language transfer and transfer of training. The low ability of the Indonesian language writer of the letter is the cause of language errors. The results of this research can help other agencies to pay more attention to the use of the Indonesian language, and it is considered important to hold official letter-writing training by authorized institutions.

Abstract

Hypnotherapy can be used as an effective therapy to overcome certain symptoms and conditions by entering the subconscious mind and giving positive suggestions to clients. When a therapist provides hypnosis, there is a distinctive linguistic structure. This structure can be analyzed using genre analysis. This study will focus on genre analysis in hypnotherapy induction by looking at the rhetorical moves structure of each hypnotherapy technique performed. In this research, the descriptive qualitative method is used, which aims to describe the rhetorical moves contained in the hypnotherapy induction script. The data used in this study were obtained from the Indonesian Board of Hypnotherapy training module in as many as five induction scripts. The technique used to analyze the data was immediate constituent analysis of each utterance in the hypnotherapy induction script. This research produces 20 rhetorical moves that have been classified from 203 utterances contained in the hypnotherapy induction script. Based on the speech acts, rhetorical moves in hypnotherapy are characterized by performative verbs commanding, declaring, informing, and praising, such as the use of the verbs pay attention, relax, imagine, and feel. The results show similarities and differences in the structure of rhetorical moves that can change and are not fixed.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for learning in discourse studies courses. The purpose of this study was to design a learning model that supports the process of obtaining course learning outcomes that are oriented to the needs of students in the field, as well as to describe the results of model validation and Student Worksheets (SW). The research method used is development research with a 4-D design. Data collection techniques were carried out through document studies, observation, focus group discussions and distributing questionnaires. The model design product was validated by three validators from the fields of learning, IT, and lecturers of discourse studies. SW products are validated by three lecturers and four users from students. Data analysis techniques were carried out using descriptive qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results obtained, the OBS Studio-assisted project model in discourse studies courses orientated on Pancasila student profiles is suitable for use in learning with the model validation results being in the "very valid" criteria with a value of 92%, the SW validation results are in the "valid" criteria with a value of 72 %, and practicality results according to users are in the "high" criteria with a value of 71%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students lack of interest in reading, this affects the level of reading comprehension of students who do not understand the content/information obtained in the reading text. This study aims to (1) determine students reading ability using convensional strategies; (2) test the ability to read and understand electronic news text using the KWL model; and (3) know the effect of the KWL model on students ability in reading comprehension of electronic news text. This study uses experimental research methods, this method requires a special treatment which aims to find the effect of one variable on another variable. The design used is in the form of Nonequivalent control group design. The results of this study, both in the pretest and posttest there was an increase in the average score obtained by students 85,33. Thus value has exceeded the standard passing grade in Indonesian subjects, which is 75. The results of data processing using SPSS obtained is an effect of using the KWL model on the ability to read comprehension of electronic news text in class XII-IPS 2 MAN Indramayu.

Abstract

One of the scientific clusters that students must master is the learning science cluster. One of the subjects in the learning science cluster is Evaluation of Indonesian Language Learning. The aim of this course is to equip students with the skills to analyze and design evaluation instruments. The problem found by students is that they still have difficulties in analyzing and designing evaluation instruments based on HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill). The purpose of this study was to find out the syntax of wordwall-assisted Neuroscience-based learning strategies and the responses of IKIP Siliwangi students in analyzing and designing HOTS evaluation instruments in Indonesian Language Learning. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with identification, formulating problems, literature study, determining instruments for data collection in the form of questionnaires, and analyzing data then drawing conclusions. As for the research results based on the results of the questionnaire data, it was obtained an average of 89.4% positive answers chosen by students. This means that wordwall-assisted Neuroscience-based learning strategies can help students analyze and compile HOTS questions by searching, describing, exploring, presenting, processing, comparing, evaluating, and concluding HOTS questions that are compiled.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate investigated syntactic acquisition in a child with autism aged 9 years. The method used is using descriptive qualitative method. The main data source for this research is the topic of investigation and data collected directly without using intermediaries. Meanwhile, secondary data sources in this study include books, journals, and articles on children's language acquisition. The results of the study found that there were 29 data which were divided into several parts including; 15 declarative sentences with 68 morphemes (51.72%), 3 interrogative sentences with 16 morphemes (10.34%), 5 imperative sentences with 13 morphemes (17.24%), and 6 interrogative sentences with 27 morphemes (20.70 %). Based on the results of the study, the most dominant was the acquisition of declarative sentences, namely 51.72%, and based on the MLU (Mean Length of Utterance) measurement, the student's speech was 4.27 words that were spoken or were in stage X. It means that the language acquisition of a child with autism is appropriate for their age. The findings of this study can help educators and parents better understand the stage of language development in autistic children and plan suitable stimulation strategies.

Abstract

The globalization era has had an impact on the existence of the Indonesian language. Responding to this issue, Indonesian language is important to learn through the education level in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the content, implementation, and challenges of the compulsory curriculum course Indonesian language learning policy in tertiary institutions. This research method used a literature review sourced by policy documents and scientific journal articles. The results showed that the Indonesian language learning policy was released by the government of the Republic of Indonesia in various regulations contained in Law Number 12 of 2012, Government Regulation Number 57 of 2021, and Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 84/E/KPT /2020. The existence of this policy provides an overview of the standard of learning Indonesian language in higher education. Generally, policies regarding learning Indonesian language in higher education have been implemented, although there are still various obstacles. The challenges of the implementation include advances in technological development, student language mastery, and digital-based learning components. The involvement of various parties is needed in order to achieve the expected policy objectives.

Abstract

Language can perpetuate gender bias. The formulation of language in media coverage also strengthens, soothes, even injustices against women in society, including actresses. The purpose of this research is to find and describe the variety of gender bias language in the reporting of post-divorce actresses. This research includes a qualitative descriptive study. The data source for this research is media coverage which is limited to news about post-divorce actresses. The data taken is in the form of gender biased news titles and contents. In collecting data using the read-read method, supported by orthographic techniques. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using constructivism analysis in sociolinguistics. The results of this study indicate that there are still media that place divorced actresses as news objects that are sexy and gender biased. The variety of language gender bias appears in the form of diction, phrases and sentences. These various forms of language can position women as sexual objects, such as various metaphors that refer to women's bodies, diction and sentences that point to the meaning that women are the cause of household breakdown, as well as various languages ​​in the form of labeling women or stigmatization.

Abstract

The existence of social media such as TikTok opens up opportunities for people to express themselves freely. This freedom demands creativity in expression, among others by using a sarcastic language style. This study aims to examine the use of satire language style used by Tiktoker Rian Fahardhi in his video using Keraf's Language Style theory. This research uses descriptive research to describe the sarcastic language style used by Rian Fahardhi in TikTok videos. The data collection technique used is the listening method with note taking technique. The data analysis technique used in this research is content analysis technique. The results showed that Rian Fahardhi used 19 satire language styles consisting of 4 irony language styles, 6 cynicism language styles, and 9 sarcasm language styles. Satire is not only used to convey criticism and aspirations, but it can also be implemented for readers and listeners of language in various types of literary works and outside literature. By using satire, readers or listeners can pay attention to the words used more carefully in writing or speech. So that it can increase understanding and appreciation of the beauty of language and can strengthen the message to be conveyed.

Abstract

Lack of understanding of the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI) has an impact on many linguistic errors. For example, in the context of scientific writing written by students, teachers, lecturers or official letters written by an agency both government and private. Based on these problems, this research aims to review existing language applications and develop a user-friendly and effective language checker application called Cekata. The research and development (R&D) method was used in this research. It starts with literature study and data collection to find out the dominance of language errors from various linguistic levels. Then continued with development and testing. Application development is done through prototyping applications such as Adobe XD and development through Android Studio. This research produces an application that is feasible to use for checking errors in writing as well as the initial response of potential users of this application. The response results are as follows: 1) Appearance 87% 2) Main Features 90% 3) User Efficiency 90%.
