Abstract

This study aimed to increase students' problem-solving skills through problem-solving learning with a booklet on the concept of reduction and oxidation reactions. This research used the pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-postest design which was conducted in SMAN 5 Pontianak. Participants consist of 37 students of tenth-grade (Class IPA 4). The research instrument was used containing two valid and reliable essay questions. Data analyst was done descriptively and statistically, including n-gain and Wilcoxon test. Students' problem-solving skills were measured before and after being given treatment. The research results showed that the N-Gain (0,62) value with medium category of students problem-solving skills. These results were supported with the Wilcoxon test obtaining a significance value of 0,00 (<0,05). It indicated that H0 was rejected dan H1 was accepted. These results indicated the problem-solving learning model with a booklet could improve students' problem-solving skills on reduction and oxidation reaction material.

Abstract

Ubi jalar ungu berpotensi sebagai antioksidan alami berdasarkan tingginya kadar antosianin yang terkandung didalamnya. Antosianin adalah senyawa polar yang lebih mudah diekstrak dalam suasana asam. Antosianin memiliki manfaat sebagai antioksidan dan penangkal radikal bebas, sehingga berperan dalam mencegah terjadinya penuaan, kanker, dan penyakit degeneratif dan lain-lain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pelarut dan pH yang tepat untuk mengekstrak antosianin ubi jalar ungu dengen metode pH diferensial spektrofotometri. Sampel ditambahkan etanol 96% dan aquades yang telah diasamkan dengan HCl 1% sehingga pH pelarut menjadi 1, 1,5, 2, dan 2,5. Ekstrak yang didapat diencerkan dengan pelarut pH 1 dan pH 4,5 dan kemudian ditentukan kadar antosianinnya berdasarkan metode pH diferensial spektrofotometri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelarut dan pH berpengaruh terhadap kadar total antosianin. Pelarut etanol dan pH 1,5 memberikan kadar total antosianin dan absorbansi ubi jalar ungu tertinggi yaitu sebesar 5,9558 mg/L.

Abstract

The large number of high school graduates who do not continue to college and their skills are not trained results they not being absorbed in the world of work. This problem can be solved by honing a skill, one of which is the ability to combine knowledge about chemistry with the manufacture of colloidal products. This study aims to produce a product in the form of chemical practicum guides for making chemoentrepreneurship-oriented colloids. This research used the R&D design with 3D Models (Define, Design, and Develop). The research begins with a needs analysis (Define), then design prototype through selecting the media, determining the format, and content of the product to be produced (Design), and the product validation stages through criticism or suggestions from the validators (Develop). The subjects of this study were students of class XI MAN 4 Pandeglang, who were selected by purposive sampling. Data validation results were analyzed using the Aiken'V method, and student response questionnaires to the product were measured using a Likert scale. The validation results of the product for each aspect of the practicum guides have a value of 0.78 (Aiken'V minimum table 0.76) and are declared valid. The product's limited trial results through a student response questionnaire obtained an average score of 93.8 with very good criteria. Data analysis results on the assessment of colloidal products in the form of student ability to make ice cream and simple water purifiers in groups 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 84.95; 79.57; 84,45; and 85.15. These results indicate that the research product in the form of a chemical colloid guideline can trigger students' creative and innovative skills.

Abstract

The problem in this research is that students are more familiar with the application of metallic bonding than its concept. This is because the characteristics of the concept are abstract concepts with real context. It makes students more interested in studying the phenomenon but lack to explain the concept and some students show misconception. Therefore this research aims to design learning sequences of metallic bonding topics using the framework model of educational reconstruction (MER). This sequence considers the students’ and scientists’ conception. Considering the initial conception of students in designing learning sequences provides benefits for students. Through MER, learning sequences begin by analyzing student conceptions through semi-structured interviews and concept maps designed by students. Scientific conception analysis is done through concept analysis of several text books that are often used in learning. There are three criteria of students’ conception they are prefer to scientist conception, misconception, and incompetence. Based on the three criteria, learning sequences are produced with the aim to bringing students' conceptions toward scientific conceptions.

Abstract

This research is a research and development (R&D) research that aims to find out the development procedures while producing products and the quality of the Selvo E-module application as a learning medium on the topic of voltaic cells. Research and development is carried out by adapting and modifying the Borg & Gall development model trough preliminary study and development stages with limited trials involving the validation of five media experts. Analysis of the data used during development is descriptive analysis and percentage techniques. The sample in this research were students of class XI MIPA Academic Year 2018/2019. The results showed that the development of chemistry e-module has “very good” qualifications for the material aspect with a percentage of 92% and media with a percentage of 97% according to experts. Based on the responses given by students as an assessment sample, the quality of the Selvo E-module application is included in the excellent category with a percentage of 85.24%.

Abstract

The transmission of COVID-19 is one of the global problems that has caused many deaths. This pandemic was caused by SARS-CoV-2, which has several non-structural proteins (nsp1-nsp16). The non-structural proteins in SARS-CoV-2 have different amino acid compositions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the amino acid composition of SARS-CoV-2. This study used computational methods in silico analysis to analyze the amino acid composition of the target protein. The target protein sequence database was obtained from the NCBI website with the identity number NC_045512.2. Non-structural protein with the shortest amino acid length is owned by nsp7 (83 aa) with a molecular weight of 9239.34 Daltons, nsp9 (113 aa) with a molecular weight of 12377.54, and nsp1 (180 aa) with a molecular weight of 19774.35, while non-structural proteins with amino acid composition the longest is found in nsp3 (1945 aa) with a molecular weight of 217241.50 Daltons, nsp12 (932 aa) with a molecular weight of 106654.88 Daltons and nsp2 (638 aa) with a molecular weight of 70507.81 Daltons. The amino acid composition of each target protein varies in length, weight, and frequency. Information obtained from this reasearch result can be used as the basis for studying the characteristics of the non-structural protein in SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 pandemic based on the composition of the constituent amino acids.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tingkat bioakumulasi logam berat pada kerang yang berada di perairan barat pulau batam. Batam merupakan daerah yang memiliki potensi besar terhadap pencemaran logam berat, karena tingginya aktifitas yang ada di perairan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di lima lokasi sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kerang dengan spesies Anadara sp., Perna viridis dan Crassostrea gigas. Logam berat yang diteliti yaitu logam kadmium (Cd), timbal (Pb) dan tembaga (Cu). Analisa logam berat dilakukan menggunakan Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan diperoleh faktor biokonsentrasi (BCF) logam berat pada spesies Anadara sp., Perna viridis dan Crassostrea gigas.  Biokonsentrasi logam dalam medium air secara berturut-turut teramati bahwa Pb > Cu > Cd, dengan kategori BCF Pb dan Cu tergolong tinggi, serta Cd tidak terdeteksi.  Sedangkan untuk spesies Anadara sp. dalam medium sedimen diperoleh biokonsentrasi logam berat Cu > Cd > Pb dengan kategori BCF rendah untuk semua logam. Selanjutnya, untuk spesies Perna Viridis dan Crassostrea gigas diperoleh biokonsentrasi logam Cd > Pb > Cu, dengan kategori BCF-nya juga tergolong rendah.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa sangat diperlukan dalam pembelajaran kimia, karena beberapa ilmu kimia bersifat kontekstual. Keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa di indonesia cenderung masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa pada konsep koloid dengan menerapkan model PBL. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre eksperiment dengan pretest-posttest one group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa di salah satu kelas XI IPA yang diambil dengan metode purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal tes dengan 10 soal essay yang valid dan reliabel. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan lembar observasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan statistik meliputi n-gain dan one sample t test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan nilai n-gain dengan kategori sedang pada 5 indikator keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa yaitu, indikator kelancaran (0,45), keluwesan (0,50), keaslian (0,47), penguraian (0,50), perumusan kembali (0,58). Hasil tersebut didukung dengan uji one sample t test diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,00 < 0,05 yang menunjukkan bahwa H­1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dari hasil penelitian ini terlihat bahwa penerapan model PBL dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa pada konsep koloid. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya suatu modul pembelajaran berbasis PBL yang mampu menstimulus keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa.

Abstract

Antioxidants can be obtained from plants or animals. One of the plants that can be used as a source of antioxidants is katuk leaf (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.) and honey. The content of compounds in both materials that function as antioxidants are phenolic, flavonoids, and vitamin C. This study aims to analyze the levels of total phenolic, flavonoids, vitamin C, antioxidant activity, the effect of different compositions on combination treatments, and analyze the relationship between phenolic levels and vitamin C with antioxidant activity from the test sample. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design. Antioxidant activity was tested using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed phenolic levels of all test samples ranged from 0.509-23.205 mg GAE/g samples; flavonoids amounted to 0.027-17.329 mg QE/g samples, vitamin C amounted to 15,917-101,705 mg AA/g samples and IC50 of 114.213-20727.500 mg/l. The combination treatment with more katuk leaf composition can increase the levels of compounds and antioxidant activity. Phenolic levels and vitamin C have a moderate relationship with antioxidant activity with the correlation coefficient values of -0.480 and -0.500.
