Abstract

The limitations of inquiry-based learning tools have an impact on the low critical thinking skills of elementary students in science learning. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of inquiry-based learning tools to improve critical thinking skills. The study design is a quasi nonequivalent control group experiment. The experimental class was treated with inquiry-based learning devices, the control class was implemented with STAD-based learning devices. The population and sample in this study were students in grades IVA and IVB at SDN Kepanjen 2 and SDN Panggungrejo 4. This study was conducted for one month from August to September 2022. The instrument used was a critical thinking skills test. The validity test is calculated based on the Aiken index. Data were analyzed based on the pair t-test. The results of this study indicate a very significant difference in students' critical thinking skills. The average score of students' critical thinking before the use of inquiry learning tools in the experimental class was 53.59 and after being used was 82.44. Control group students have an average critical thinking ability of 42.35 and thereafter 59.88. There are factors that affect the effectiveness of inquiry-based learning tools including the validity of the device, the difference in the average score of critical thinking skills which is very significant for students in the experimental and control groups, the responses of students and teachers, and the implementation of learning. In conclusion, instructional inquiry tools are effective for improving critical thinking skills. This study recommends the development of inquiry-based learning tools to improve students' critical thinking skills.

The instrument used is the academic stress scale developed by the researcher and has gone through the stages of validity and reliability. The lowest validity score is 0.363 and the highest validity value is 0.560 and the reliability score is 0.769. The data obtained show that the level of academic stress experienced by elementary school students in Malang Raya is in the low category of 98 students or 41.53%, then 126 students or 53.39% experience moderate stress, the rest are in the high category. experienced by 12 students or 5.09% of students only. Abstract

The research aims to analyze the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on creative thinking skills and learning outcomes and to describe the implementation of mathematics learning using the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach for class VI students at SDN 2 Ketapang Banyuwangi on the material Circumference and Area of a Circle. A mixed method was used in this research. The population in this research were all of the sixth-grade students for the 2021/2022 academic year, with a total of 54 students. The samples in this research were 23 students in the control class and 23 students in the experimental class, respectively, where the sampling technique used the Yamane formula. Statistical analysis used comparative analysis (t-test) and the N-gain test. The results showed: 1) the post-test t-test results between the control and experimental classes with a t-value of 4.791 (p-value = 0.000) and the t-test results differed between the post-test and pre-test scores between the control and experimental classes with the t-count value of 5.368 (p-value = 0.000). Both p-values are less than α (0.05), which means that the CTL approach influences students' creative thinking skills. 2) the post-test t-test results between the control and experimental classes with a t-count value of 2.136 (p-value = 0.038), the t-test results are the difference between the post-test and pre-test values between the control and experimental classes with a t-count value of 3.038 (p-value = 0.004). Both p-values are less than α (0.05), which means that the CTL approach has an effect on students Mathematics learning outcomes. Thus, the CTL approach has an effect on creative thinking skills and the mathematics learning outcomes of grade VI students on the circumference and area of a circle.
