Abstract

The 2013 curriculum which has been implemented for more than six years in Indonesia has many problems in its application. Therefore, we need to conduct empirical research to determine the causes of the ineffective implementation of the 2013 curriculum in schools. This study involved 13 high schools and vocational high schools in the provinces of DKI Jakarta and West Java with a total of 420 students, 26 teachers, and principals as respondents. The research employed mixed parallel method and data analysis using combined analysis of qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research found that there are still schools that use two different curricula, 2013 curriculum and school-based curriculum. In implementing the 2013 curriculum, teachers are required to use various learning with a scientific approach that refers to student-centered concepts. There is a need for the training program to improve teachers’ professional competence, especially in the terms of various learning methods mastery.

Abstract

Kualitas lembaga pendidikan dapat dilihat dari physical evidence seperti tampilan dan bau di toilet sekolah. Toilet sekolah yang berbau dan kotor seperti terjadi di sebagian besar sekolah juga terjadi di sekolah mitra. Karena itu tim pengabdian masyarakat  membuat program bernama Sosialisasi Toilet Ramah Anak dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas physical evidence sekolah negeri melalui sosialisasi konsep toilet siswa yang ideal. Program  ini dilakukan melalui tiga langkah; pertama, sosialisasi kepada guru dan penjaga sekolah; kedua pembersihan dan rehabilitasi toilet; dan ketiga sosialisasi kepada para siswa. Langkah sosialisasi siswa dilakukan dengan presentasi tentang pentingnya menjaga kebersihan toilet, menonton video, lomba mewarnai dan mendemonstrasikan cara membersihkan toilet bersama siswa. Kegiatan ini berjalan dengan baik dan mampu memberikan perubahan positif bagi sekolah, seperti meningkatkan kualitas fasilitas toilet siswa yang lebih ramah (selain bersih, edukatif, lingkungan hijau serta terdapat CCTV), sehingga siswa akan memiliki sikap yang lebih positif dalam menjaga kebersihan toilet, meningkatkan karakter siswa yang peduli, mendisiplinkan dan melatih siswa. Oleh karena itu program ini membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan nilai karakter yang kuat untuk hidup sehat serta membantu sekolah menginternalisasi nilai-nilai positif bagi siswa. Semakin tinggi kualitas physical evidence diharapkan akan mendorong kualitas total manajemen sekolah.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze morphological and syntactical errors in a procedure text that made by the students in private vocational school in Bogor. The research method that used to analyze morphological and syntactical error in the procedure text that made by the students is descriptive qualitative method that based only on a few procedure texts. After the researcher analyze the procedure text, the researcher found that the students still make the morphological and syntactical errors in their writings.

Abstract

Di era globalisasi ini guru dituntut agar dapat berprestasi baik di forum regional, nasional maupun di internasional. Agar dapat berprestasi dengan baik di forum internasional maka para guru harus mengetahui sampai sejauh mana kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka. Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kemampuan bahasa Inggris para guru, mereka dapat mengikuti tes bahasa Inggris. Tetapi banyak sekali jenis tes bahasa Inggris yang diselenggarakan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi kepada para guru mengenai tes bahasa Inggris yang dapat diambil sehingga dapat sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka. Hasil yang didapatkan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman para guru mengenai tes bahasa Inggris sehingga nantinya mereka bisa menentukan tes mana yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah menyebabkan dunia menjadi seperti tanpa batas. Beredarnya berbagai informasi dari internet dan media sosial tanpa adanya sebuah filter membuat hoax (berita palsu) mudah sekali menyebar. Hal ini menjadi keresahan yang besar bagi masyarakat, terlebih lagi hoax tidak hanya menghinggapi orang dewasa tapi juga para pelajar yang notabene nya masih remaja. Remaja adalah generasi muda yang dekat sekali dengan media sosial. Mereka menganggap media sosial tidak hanya sebagai hiburan semata, melainkan pusat informasi. Oleh karena itu sangatlah penting bagi remaja mengetahui dan bisa membedakan hoax sejak dini, agar mereka selalu bisa bersikap dan berpikir kritis dengan informasi yang mereka terima. Remaja perlu dilatih untuk mencerna informasi yang benar agar semakin hari hoax bisa diminimalisir. Remaja tidak hanya harus mengetahui siapa yang membuat berita atau informasi yang mereka baca tapi juga harus mengetahui pemahaman mengenai pesan apa saja yang terkandung dalam berita tersebut. Karena saat ini banyak sekali berita yang menyesatkan yang pada akhirnya berujung merugikan perkembangan berpikir remaja. Penting bagi remaja untuk mengenali situs-situs berita yang sah daan benar. Remaja juga harus lebih cermat mengenali konten-konten yang berkualitas rendah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa kegiatan pelatihan mengenal, mengidentifikasi, dan membedakan hoax (berita palsu). Adapun target luaran yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini berupa pengetahuan tentang pengenalan, identifikasi, dan perbedaan hoax (berita palsu)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the implementation of batik skills training program as a recommendation for program improvement. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach using Context, Input, Process, and Product evaluation model. Samples were taken from the Institute of Skills and Training in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, and Tangerang. The results of the evaluation components that meet the evaluation criteria are all aspects of the context component, discipline and learning process, while the components of batik teachers' education qualifications, the use of educational facilities and infrastructure standards, curriculum components, program financing, evaluation of learning outcomes, mastery of theoretical competencies, practices, and impacts to program participants have not been met. The batik skills training program needs to be continued with some improvement. It is recommended for the product components, especially on the impact aspects felt by graduates, to be improved.

Abstract

Dictionary has an important role in the language learning process where the dictionary is used as a learning tool. As a learning tool, dictionary can be used independently because there a lot of features in it such as meaning, pronunciation, types of words, word order and structure. At present, dictionaries available in two versions, they are printed and digital versions which can be in the form of websites or applications. The aim of this research is to find out the use of English digital dictionaries by undergraduate students, especially majoring in non-English language program. Based on the results of interviews with informants and a questionnaire administered to 67 students, this study used a qualitative descriptive method with data analysis. The results of the study found that digital dictionaries are used for language learning, translation and to improve English knowledge. It is strongly suggested to government to give access to the internet since those dictionaries sometimes use network. The developer of the application is also encouraged to make it accessible offline. The research team also suggest for future researcher to find out about the effect of using a digital dictionary on English learning.

Abstract

English as the most widely used language in the world is learned by undergraduate students, both who are majoring in English and those who are not majoring in English. English speaking skill is an important skill because it is needed in order to have a conversation to communicate but mastering English speaking skills is not easy. The purpose of this research was to determine undergraduate students' perceptions of difficulties in speaking English, especially undergraduate students majoring in non-English languages.This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data analysis techniques based on the results of interviews with informants and through a questionnaire conducted to 67 undergraduate students. The results of the study indicate that there are psychological, social, lecturer, and linguistic factors that cause students to have difficulty speaking in English. If the undergraduate students have a perception of what difficulties they face to be able to master English speaking skills then they will be able to find solutions to overcome these difficulties. This will help them in improving their English speaking abilities

Abstract

Higher education management must change its management model because the student's current needs in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era are very diverse and the demand from the industrial world is more specific. This situation required a new approach in learning that can meet the students learning needs, therefore, can generate higher education graduates that have the capability, not competencies. This article is compiled based on the results of thoughts supported by a literature review using content analysis based on the results obtained from 58 articles that were published between 1999 and 2020. The universities can implement heutagogy in the curriculum which is supported by the cyber-physical system in learning. This is causing the students to be able to choose scientific competence they want independently with learning across disciplines for occupying certain ability. The cyber system development in higher education is used to assist the online learning process and as an administrator in supporting learning activities. The cyber-physical system refers to the physical things and the campus atmosphere felt by the students.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the anger in Paul Haggis's film Crash. The author of this study identifies the sources and manifestations of anger in the film Crash. The author employs a descriptive qualitative approach. In order to evaluate the data, and explain anger, and the reasons and styles of anger, the writer uses a number of theories that have been put forth by the experts as a foundation. According to the writer, "insult," "out of control," "social triggers," "physical threat," "stress," "being a recipient of another person's anger," and "disappointment" are the main causes of anger in the movie Crash. As the author looks into the causes of anger, he discovers that the "aggressive style," "passive style," and "assertive style" of anger are all present in the film Crash. The analysis's findings show that: (1) Most of the characters in the film Crash become angry when those around them do something intentionally wrong; and (2) The characters utilize "aggressive style," "passive style," and "assertive style" to vent their anger.
