Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of the PQRST method in learning the skills of reading descriptive texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Sungai Lilin. The type of research used in this research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method using a one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were 105 class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Sungai Kunci for the academic year 2022/2023, with a sample size of 26 students who were determined using a purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the posttest and hypothesis testing, it was found that the average value of skills in reading descriptive texts after using the PQRST method was higher than the average value of skills in reading descriptive texts before using the PQRST method. learning the skills of reading descriptive text after using the PQRST method is in the Very Good (BS) classification with an average value of 96.15. When compared with the learning value of reading skill description text for class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Sungai Lilin before using the PQRST method it is lower and is in the Less Enough (KC) classification with an average value of 15.38. Based on the t-test it was concluded that the hypothesis (H1) was accepted at a significant level of 95% and dk = (n-1) because tcount > ttable (20.26>1.70). Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of the PQRST method on the skills of reading descriptive texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Sungai Lilin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan campur kode yang terdapat dalam sebuah film dengan judul Sweet 20 karya Ody C Harahap. Penelitian ini berusaha mendeskripsikan data secara sistematis, tererinci, dan mendalam serta hasil analisis data yang diperoleh peneliti berupa kalimat yang membentuk paragraf. Kehadiran peneliti memegang peranan penting, karena peneliti sekaligus sebagai alat penelitian dan pengumpul data. Objek penelitian dalam penelitian ini yaitu dialog dalam film Sweet 20 karya Ody C Harahap yang dipilih sebagai sumber data dalam peneltian ini. Prosedur pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi teknik menyimak dan mencatat. Pengecekan keabsahan temuan penelitian ini menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber yaitu dengan mencari informasi data menggunakan lebih dari satu sumber informasi. Berdasarkan analisis data, ditemukan adanya bentuk campur kode dalam film Sweet 20 karya Ody C Harahap. Bentuk campur kode ditemukan sebanyak data Kata Kunci: Campur kode dan film Sweet 20

Abstract

The lack of use of e-books in teaching expository texts at high school level is the background of this research which aims to analyze the demand for e-books based on local wisdom. The method used is descriptive and qualitative with the subject of research being high school principals and teachers in Padang City. The data collection tools used are interview guidelines and documentation. Data analysis uses Miles & Huberman data analysis with data reduction, data presentation, and data validation. The results of the research show that e-books in schools do not meet the requirements for implementation in learning. Therefore, schools need e-books that are suitable for the curriculum and based on local wisdom and HOTS. This research is expected to be a reference in the creation or development of e-books as media for teaching expository texts at high school level. Keywords: e-book, interactive, local wisdom, expository text.

Abstract

The aims of this research are as to describe the social values and to describe the most dominant social values in the novel Laluir by Haji Abdul Karim Amrullah (HAMKA). This is qualitative research with descriptive method. The data of this research are event units in the form of words, phrases, clauses, or sentences that identify social values in the form of a narrator's narration about characters, actions of characters, and speeches of characters in the background of the novel. The source of the research data is the novel Laluir by HAMKA published by Gema Insani in 2016. The data collection was conducted by reading and understanding the novel, identifying the characters, identifying the event units, and identifying data related to social values in the novel. Overall, 31 data on social values were found in the novel Laluir by Haji Abdul Makil Karim Amrullah. Each of these social values are 10 values of love, 6 values of social responsibility, 5 social values of caring, 6 social values of empathy, and 4 social values of helping. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that social values in the novel Laluir by Haji Abdul Makil Karim Amrullah arise because of the speech of the characters and the narrator and the action of taking h in learning the novel text of high school students of class XII.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas kajian sosilinguistik, tepatnya analisis penggunaan campur kode pada laman Twitter Collegemenfess. Laman Twitter ini merupakan salah satu auto base dengan pengikut terbanyak di Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Setelah dilakukan penelitian, ditemukan penggunaan campur kode pada cuitan di Collegemenfess. Data yang ditemukan berupa sepuluh campur kode ke luar dan lima campur kode ke dalam. Penggunaan campur kode yang ditemukan berupa kata dasar, frasa, istilah dan kalimat. Penggunaan campur kode ke luar yang ditemukan yakni pada bahasa Inggris, lalu penggunaan campur kode ke dalam ditemukan pada bahasa Jawa, Sunda, dan Medan. Dapat disimpulkan, pengguna auto base Collegemenfess dalam berinteraksi di Twitter sering kali menggunakan campur kode untuk menyampaikan maksudnya.

Abstract

The implementation of learning short story writing skills is still oriented towards completing tasks designed by the teacher. Also, it seems conventional, so developing students' short story writing skills takes time and effort. Through this research, the authors review the effect of the project-based learning model on learning outcomes for students with high and low achievement motivation; and the interaction between the project-based learning model and achievement motivation. This research belongs to the quantitative research that applies the experimental method, involving two sample classes: class X hospitality 2 as the experimental class and class X clothing 4 as the control class. The results of the data analysis provide conclusions. First, the project-based learning model influences student learning outcomes. Second, the project-based learning model influences students' learning outcomes with high achievement motivation. Third, project-based learning model influences the learning outcomes of students with low achievement motivation. The project-based learning learning model can be used as an effective alternative learning model in improving students' short story writing skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam keterampilan membaca teks berita pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh keterampilan membaca teks berita menggunakan media dibandingkan tidak menggunakan media. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode eksperimen. Dalam penelitian ini, metode eksperimen digunakan untuk melihat pengaruh media teks berjalan terhadap keterampilan membaca teks berita siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Media yang digunakan seharusnya sesuai dengan karakteristik materi pelajaran dan diarahkan pada proses pembelajaran yang dipusatkan pada siswa sehingga prestasi siswa dapat meningkat. Salah satu media pembelajaran yang menunjang di dalam pembelajaran membacakan berita adalah dengan menggunakan media teks berjalan. Hasil yang didapat dalam penelitian ini yaitu adanya pengaruh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media teks berjalan dalam keterampilan membaca teks berita siswa di kelas VIII-H SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan nilai siswa pada waktu pretest total nilai 1.595 dan nilai rata-rata adalah 69,35. Setelah menggunakan media teks berjalan dalam proses belajar di kelas ini, didapat peningkatan hasil pembelajaran siswa pada waktu postest dengan total nilai 1.865 dan nilai rata-rata 81,01.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in the 10th grade of SMA Negeri 1 Lareh Sago Halaban in an effort to achieve educational goals with character. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The research data was obtained through interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations, and analysis of curriculum-related documents. The research subjects consist of teachers and 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Lareh Sago Halaban. The researcher collected data through interviews with teachers involved in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, classroom observations to observe the learning process, and analysis of documents related to the curriculum implementation. The results of the research show that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in the 10th grade at SMA Negeri 1 Lareh Sago Halaban has provided a positive contribution in achieving character education goals. Teachers actively involve students in the learning process, give students the freedom to explore their potential, and promote the desired character values. Furthermore, students also benefit from the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. They feel more motivated and engaged in learning, have space for exploration and the development of creativity, and experience improvement in personal character formation. However, the research also identifies several challenges in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Factors such as limited resources and uneven understanding among teachers can affect the optimal implementation of this curriculum. To improve the effectiveness of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, this research recommends training and mentoring for teachers to strengthen their understanding of this curriculum. Additionally, attention should be given to the development of resources that support the comprehensive implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.
