Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discuss the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on writing skills of exposition text for middle school students. The method used is an experiment inquiry to find the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. The research procedure which is natural setting and descriptive pay more attention to data processing and analysis, tend to be inductive, and search for suitable meaning. The data collection instrument was a performance test in the form of writing skills on exposition text. The results showed that the application of the PBL model increased the scores of the students' exposition text writing results with an average score of 58%. In addition, the application of the PBL model also deepens students' understanding of the structure, language rules, diction, language style, and speeling contained in the exposition text.

Abstract

There are three objectives of this research. First, it describes reading comprehension skills before using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategies in learning to read and understand explanatory texts for class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Second, it describes reading comprehension skills after using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategies on the reading comprehension skills of class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Third, analyzing the effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy on the reading comprehension skills of explanatory texts of class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The research design is a one group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang for the academic year 2022/2023, totaling 307 students. Data were analyzed using percentage formula, arithmetic average formula, and t-test. The research instrument was an objective test, namely a test of reading comprehension skills before and after using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR).

Abstract

The emergence of literary works is not solely written to provide entertainment to readers, but this is also a means of instilling cultural values ​​in the lives of readers. The presence of cultural values ​​in a literary work aims to provide positive values ​​in people's lives which will become a human guide in behaving. In addition, this cultural value will be a driving factor for a good way of thinking in society. This study aims to analyze cultural values ​​in one of Bernard Batubara's novels because the novel contains many life values, especially cultural values. This research is a type of library research. The data in this study is in the form of a novel entitled "Batu Manikam". The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study can be concluded that the novel "Batu Manikam" contains cultural values, namely the relationship between man and God, between man and himself, and between man and man, and between man and the environment. In this novel, the cultural values ​​that are more commonly found are cultural values ​​related to human relations with humans, including (1) ridiculing, (2) killing, (3) not having sympathy, (4) lying, (5) betrayal, (6) not holding grudges, (7) conveying the truth, and others. In addition, this study also found its implications for learning Indonesian in high school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect before using DRTA on the reading comprehension skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Matur students and after using the DRTA strategy in reading comprehension skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Matur students. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a research design that uses the One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population in this study were students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Matur. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The data of this research is the value of reading comprehension skills of tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Matur before and after using the DRTA strategy. Data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect before and after using the DRTA strategy in reading comprehension skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Matur, namely tcount > ttable (3,52>1,71). The average reading comprehension ability of tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Matur after using the DRTA strategy was higher than before (94,87>47,37). Thus it can be concluded that the DRTA strategy has a significant effect on the reading comprehension skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Matur.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to explain the value of character education in the novel Bumi by Tere Liye and how its implication in learning. This research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The data source is the novel Bumi by Tere Liye. The value of character education contained in the novel, including: (1) honesty, (2) discipline, (3) curiosity, (4) national spirit, (5) friendly and communicative, (6) fond of reading, (7) social care, and (8) responsibility. Abstract

ABSTRACT This purpose of this study is three. First, describing the discution of writing text for students of class IX in Junior High School Muhammadiya 1 Padang using the Think Pair Share cooperative model learning, describing the discution of writing text for students of class IX in Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Padang using the conventional model. Third, analyzing the effect of the use of  Think Pair Share cooperative model learning on the skills of writing discution text for students of class IX in Junior High School  Muhammadiyah 1 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with randomized two group design posttest only design experimental methods. There are three results of this study. First, the discution of writing text in IX  of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Padang using the Think Pair Share cooperative model learning is of good qualification (B) with an average value of 83,37 (above of minimal completeness criteria). Second, the discution of writing text in the IX  of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Padang using the conventional model with almost enough qualification (HC) with an average grade of 49,11 (under of minimal completeness criteria). Third, based on the t-test, H1 is accepted at the 95% confidence level and dk= (n1 as a numerator and n2 as denominator) because tcount>ttable (1.70 < 43.4679). Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Padang sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan teknik Collaborative Strategic Reading serta menganalisis pengaruh teknik Collaborative Strategic Reading terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah one group pretest-posttest design. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA 9 yang berjumlah 36 siswa melalui teknik penarikan data secara purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data ini sebagai berikut. Pertama, melakukan pretest keterampilan membaca. Kedua, lembaran hasil kerja diberikan skor. Ketiga, melakukan proses pembelajaran menggunakan teknik Collaborative Strategic Reading. Keempat, siswa mengerjakan posttest keterampilan membaca. Kelima, lembaran hasil posttest diberikan skor. Berdasarkan analisis data dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan tiga hal berikut. Pertama, keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi siswa XI MAN 2 Padang sebelum menggunakam teknik CSR berada pada kualifikasi Lebih dari Cukup (LdC). Kedua, keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi siswa XI MAN 2 Padang sesudah menggunakam teknik CSR berada pada kualifikasi Baik. Ketiga, terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada penggunaan teknik CSR terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi siswa. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai keterampilan membaca pemahaman sesudah menggunakan teknik CSR terhadap siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Padang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai keterampilan membaca pemahaman sebelum menggunakan teknik CSR terhadap siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Padang. Berdasarkan uji-t disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima dengan taraf signifikansi 95% dan dk=(n-1) karena thitung > ttabel (3,48 > 1,70).

Abstract

This activity aims to provide an understanding of the application of digital media in the manufacture and documentation of official letters carried out at SMPN Padang Pariaman Regency. Based on observations, it is known that the structure and language used in official letters are still not in accordance with the rules of the Indonesian language. In addition, it was also found that the preparation and storage of archives in schools was still inadequate. School archives or documents are arranged in a cabinet, so it takes a long time to find them and is not well maintained due to improper arrangement and storage. Therefore, an activity is needed to correct errors in writing official letters and documenting existing school archives. Based on this explanation, it is necessary to conduct training activities regarding the creation and documentation of digital-based official letters using the Arterial application at SMP Negeri Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra.

Abstract

This article was written to explain the influence of the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) cooperative learning model on the reading comprehension skills of persuasive texts for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Pariaman. The research data is the score of the objective test results before using this type of cooperative learning model with the score after getting treatment using this learning model. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that there are three results that become findings, namely as follows. First, the reading comprehension skills of persuasive texts before using the cooperative learning model type CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Pariaman are in the "Enough" qualification (C) with an average of 66.19. Second, the reading comprehension skills of persuasive texts after using the cooperative learning model type CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Pariaman are in the "Good" qualification (B) with an average of 80.58. Third, there is a significant influence on the use of the CIRC type cooperative learning model on the reading comprehension skills of persuasive texts for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Pariaman.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability to read comprehension in Indonesian language learning for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Students' reading comprehension ability is described through the average score at the level of understanding. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method by describing the object under study through data, samples, or population. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII.1 SMP Negeri 25 Padang. The sample in this study were all students of class VIII.1 SMP Negeri 25 Padang, amounting to 32 people. Data collection techniques used in this study are through objective tests, the results of these tests are then processed and analyzed. The results of this study indicate that the reading ability of students of class VIII at SMP Negeri 25 Padang is categorized very well, with an average of 92.38, because the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) at SMP Negeri 25 is only 75.00.IntisariPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dideskripsikan melalui skor rata-rata pada tingkatan pemahaman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan mendeskripsikan objek yang diteliti melalui data, sampel, atau populasi. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII.1SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII.1 SMP Negeri 25 Padang yang berjumlah32 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu melalui tes objektif, hasil dari tes tersebut kemudian diolah dan dianalisis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 25 Padang dikategorikan sangat baik, dengan rata-rata 92.38, karena Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) SMP Negeri 25 hanya 75.00.Kata Kunci : kemampuan membaca, membaca pemahaman, pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, tes objektif, kemampuan membaca pemahaman.
