Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of road infrastructure on exports for the case of the Indonesian economy. Using time-series data during the 1987-2013 period sourced from the Indonesian Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the econometric model employed pertain to Johanson co-integration test, vector autoregressive, and Granger causality test. The finding of the study points out that there is no long-term relationship between the two variables. The rising in exports positively and significantly was affected by road infrastructure three years earlier. Furthermore, export has a positive and significant effect on road infrastructure at a lag of 1. The increase in export commodities leads to the government to improve road infrastructure at the one-year horizon. The result of the Granger causality test indicates that there is a bidirectional causality relationship between exports and road infrastructure. The increase in road infrastructure led to an increase in exports, and the increase in exports also led to an increase in road infrastructure

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of women's income on poverty reduction. Using a panel dataset of 32 provinces in Indonesia with time series data for the period of 2010-2018, the analysis model used is the fixed-effect method of the panel regression and the Panel Granger causality test. The study points out that women's income has a significant effect on poverty reduction. The greater women's income, the lower the poverty rates. Panel Granger causality test indicates that there is a bidirectional between women's income and poverty rate. The poverty causes women's income, and women's income also causes poverty rates. Therefore, local governments in Indonesia should formulate regional development policies that oriented towards increasing women's involvement in productive economic activities. The policy is not only able to improve the welfare of women, but also contribute positively to reducing poverty rates

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on unemployment, poverty, and income inequality in Indonesia. Using panel data from 34 provinces in Indonesia for the period of 2018.S1-2020.S2, the econometric analysis model applied is panel regression with dummy variables. The study discovered that the Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacts increasing urban poverty and unemployment rates, but not significantly on rural poverty. Using time-series data during the period, it turns out that this pandemic has improved the distribution of income in the community, both in urban and rural areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the deposit insurance interest rate on the yield rates of mudharabah deposits at Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. Bank liquidity was positioned as a moderating variable. Using monthly time-series data over January 2015 -March 2021, sourced from finance statistical reports published by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). The analytical model applied comprises simple linear regression and moderated regression analysis (MRA) which is then estimated using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) approach. The study pointed out that the deposit insurance interest rate has a positive and significant effect on the yield rates of mudharabah deposits. Sharia commercial banks responded to the increase in deposit insurance interest rates by increasing the deposit yield rates. Bank liquidity does not significantly affect yield rates, except for time deposits over 12 months, but this variable moderates the effect of the deposit insurance interest rate on yield rates for time deposits of 1 month, 6 months, and > 12 months. The moderating effect is negative, such as reducing the positive impact of deposit insurance interest rate on the yield rates of the three category of time deposits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of zakah revenues and job creation on poverty rates. Using a panel data set of 23 districts in Aceh for the period of 2011-2017, a fixed-effect method of the panel regression model and the Granger causality test was utilized to analyze the functional relationships between the three variables. The study found out that the zakah revenue and job creation have a negative and significant effect on poverty rates. However, the negative effect of job creation on poverty rates is greater than the negative effect of zakah revenues. The Granger causality test indicates that there is bidirectional causality between poverty rates and zakah revenues and between employment creation and poverty rates. Conversely, there is no causality between zakah revenues and job creations.

Abstract

Corruption behavior intention in a city can be shown by corruption perception index of the city. Higher coruption perception index lower corruption behavior intention. Conversly, the city which lower corruption perception index indicates to is relatively higher corruption behavior intention. Cities in Indonesia are different in corruption perception index. It’s mean corruption behavior intention for the city respectively also different. On the other side, the consumer price index and the capital spending of local government also different each other. This study aims to eximine the effect of consumer price index and the capital spending of local government on corruption perception index (CPI). Data using in the study is panel data from sixteen cities for the period of 2006, 2008 and 2010. Data analyzed by pooled least square method. The study found that consumer price index and government expenditure have negative and significant effect on corruption perception index (CPI). It’s mean that consumer price index and the capital spending of local government have a positive and significant effect on corruption behavior intention. Higher consumer price index and the capital spending of local government, higher the corruption behavior intention

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of gender empowerment on women's income and poverty reduction and examine the role of women's income as a mediating variable between gender empowerment and poverty reduction. This study uses panel data of 8 provinces from western Indonesia during the period 2010-2018. Hierarchical linear panel regression (HLPR) is employed to investigate the effect of gender empowerment on women's income and poverty reduction. Sobel test examines the role of women's income in mediating the effect of women's income on poverty reduction. Granger causality test is used to analyze the direction of causality between the three variables. The study points out that gender empowerment has a positive and significant effect on women's income but did not affect poverty reduction. Women's income has a negative and significant impact on the poverty rate. The existence of women's income mediates the effect of gender empowerment toward poverty reduction. The role of women's income mediates the relationship between the two variables is full mediation. Granger causality tests indicate that there is unidirectional causality from gender empowerment to women's income, and from poverty rate to gender empowerment.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of Islamic bank investment financing on the production growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Using panel data from 8 provinces in western Indonesia from 2014.Q3 to 2019.Q3, the analytical model used is the cointegration test, vector error correction model, and Granger causality test. The study found a long-term and short-term relationship between the two variables. In the long term, investment financing will positively and significantly increase SMEs' production growth. Furthermore, in the short run, the relationship between the two variables is negative. Granger causality test results indicate a two-way causality between investment financing and production index growth. Production responses to changes in investment financing and vice versa, the investment financing is also a response to changes in SMEs' production growth.
