Abstract

This research aims at scrutinizing apology response (AR) strategies performed by EFL learners in one of reputable universities in Indonesia. The research employed descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data to figure out categories of the AR strategies performed and also to describe the factors which influenced the realization of AR strategies. Samples were selected with purposive sampling technique from 20 students in the final semester of English Department who were ranked as the Top 10 GPA in two available programs, i.e. English education and English literature. The technique in collecting the data used oral discourse completion task (DCT) that contained participants’ responses on the given apology situations. In general, the results showed that the four main AR strategies were performed by all the twenty participants with, specifically; 27 out of 33 extended strategies were detected. In detailed, the possible reasons which influence the realization of utterances produced by participants were significant roles of power, relation, setting of situations, and the degree of mistakes which correlated the participants with the addressees.Keywords: Apology Response Strategies; Interlanguage Pragmatics; EFL Learners.

Abstract

Some protocols published by WHO during this outbreak are to keep safe distance with minimum 1 meter, wear face masks especially in public places. Other health protocols such as wash hands using soap or hand sanitizer or have shower after being at home from work or other places are also being campaigned by government. However, most information provided used difficult language and hard to understand by children. This study therefore attempts to combine all of those backgrounds by creating a digital game related to Covid-19 which hopefully will provide positive contribution during this hard time. Furthermore, this game attempts to cover the right for children to access online gaming while keep educating them and protecting them from negative influences. This research employed Doppler Interactive Game Design Life Cycle as proposed by Joshua McGracth which basically consists of 6 iterative phases (Ramadan & Widyani, 2013), but here stopped at the testing process. Software used to develop this game were Adobe Flash and Adobe Premiere. The development if this game is also assessed appropriate by parents and English teachers in terms of the layout, the language or terms appropriateness, and the effectiveness.

Abstract

This online learning era brings also challenges for both students and the lecturer side. This study aims to describe the learning activities conducted in an online learning speaking class based on Self-Regulated Learning strategy supported by online learning media. This is an ethnography study observing how the SRL is used in the classroom. The setting is a speaking class for 4th semester students at English Literature Department at Universitas Ngudi Waluyo. This study finds that describing learning objectives, giving models, recording a journal, sharing on a forum, and giving guidance for the next cycle of SRL are considered as some activities can be conducted to support the implementation of SRL in the classroom.

Abstract

The developments in telecommunications and technology rank first in order to bring about changes in the social conditions of the world. Business opportunities by utilizing the internet are also increasing, especially for promoting goods and services. CV Andromeda Multi Sarana or commonly known as AMS is a company engaged in Swallow consultancy. The company is engaged in trade and services. In supporting its trading activities, AMS requires a website. Currently, AMS only has one company profile website, while the processing and sales are still carried out using manual recording through Microsoft Excel application. This can also cause ineffectiveness and inefficiency of reports given by administrative staff to their superior. In this study, the researchers provide a solution to the problem by creating online store sales system and company profile using a website-based Codeigniter 3 framework. This study aims to provide solutions to existing problems and facilitate users in making transactions with company admins.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh cara belajar mengajar siswa yang masih belum memahami materi-materi engine tune-up yang masih menggunakan media pembelajaran berupa papan tulis dan buku modul yang masih belum sesuai dengan materi yang guru berikan. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dalam memahami materi engine tune-up berbasis Android agar siswa lebih mudah memahami. Dalam melakukan penelitian, metodologi yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, dokumen, analisis, desain, pengujian atau testing dan implementasi. Software yang digunakan adalah AdobeFlash dan CorelDraw. Perancangan berbasis multimedia ini menggunakan model pengembangan perangkat lunak Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) dengan tahap penelitian meliputi : concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, distribution. Hasil penelitian berupa media pembelajaran berbasis Android, sebuah media pembelajaran berisi materi yang sudah dipadukan dari beberapa sumber materi pelajaran, video, animasi yang berisi tentang materi engine tune-up untuk kelas XI. Jadi, dengan dibangunnya media pembelajaran ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dan memudahkan guru dalam memberikan materi engine tune-up teknik kendaraan ringan kelas XI SMK N Jumo Temanggung. Abstract

Kurangnya informasi tentang penyakit pada kelinci baik cara pencegahan dan penangananya merupakan salah satu kendala yang dialami oleh para penghobi maupun peternak kelinci. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah dapat merancang dan membangun sistem pakar diagnosa penyakit kelinci hias berbasis web. Metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan adalah Expert System Development Life Cycle (ESDLC), metode ini memiliki 6 (enam) tahapan yaitu : Assessment (Penilaian), Knowledge Acquisition (Akuisisi Pengetahuan), Design (Perancangan), Testing (Pengujian), Documentation (Dokumentasi), dan Maintenance (Pemeliharaan). Perancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Unified modeling Language (UML). Metode yang digunakan adalah Forward Chaining dan menggunakan algoritma Naive Bayes. Software yang digunakan adalah Sublime Text 3, XAMPP dan database MySQL. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sistem pakar yang dapat membantu para penghobi dan peternak kelinci untuk mendiagnosa gejala awal dari penyakit kelinci dan treatment yang tepat berdasarkan rujukan dari dokter hewan.Kata kunci : Sistem pakar, ESDLC, UML, Kelinci, Forward Chaining, Naive Bayes

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan memotret kemampuan mahasiswa jurusan Sistem Informasi STMIK Bina Patria dalam menulis descriptive text berbahasa inggris. Teks yang telah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dari sisi pemenuhan kriteria generic structure, lexicogrammatical feature secara umum dan linguistic feature secara lebih rinci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya sepertiga dari total jumlah teks yang memenuhi kriteria generic structure, sedangkan untuk lexicogrammatical feature umum dapat dipenuhi oleh seluruh mahasiswa. Dari sisi linguistic feature, lapses ditemukan disemua kategori dengan lapses tertinggi pada conjunction dan mechanic atau teknik penulisan, diikuti oleh grammatical dan kemudian vocabulary atau penguasaan kosakata. Beberapa faktor yang memengaruhi diantaranya kebiasaan dan minat memperdalam penguasaan bahasa inggris yang masih perlu ditingkatkan. Namun pencapaian para mahasiswa partisipan dalam bidang Bahasa Inggris sampai sejauh ini patut mendapatkan apresiasi dan dorongan. Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Jepang pada siswa kelas 10 SMK Negeri 3 Magelang sudah baik, namun media yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Jepang masih kurang bervariasi dan kurang menarik perhatian siswa dalam belajar yang membuat siswa merasa jenuh saat proses pelajaran berlangsung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang dan membangun Media Pembelajaran Bahasa Jepang Berbasis Multimedia Pada SMK Negeri 3 Magelang yang berguna untuk mempermudah guru dan siswa selama kegiatan belajar mengajar mata pembelajaran Bahasa Jepang.Metodologi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengembangan Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) yang dilakukan dengan enam tahap yaitu, konsep, perancangan, penggumpulan bahan, pembuatan, pengujian dan distribusi. Perancangan dan pembuatan aplikasi Media Pembelajaran Bahasa Jepang Berbasis Multimedia Pada SMK Negeri 3 Magelang menggunakan Adobe Flash CS6, dan software pendukung berupa Corel Draw X7 Adobe Photoshop CC. Hasil perancanagan dan pembuatan aplikasi Media Pembelajaran Bahasa Jepang Berbasis Multimedia Pada SMK Negeri 3 Magelang berupa materi Salam Sapaan (Aisatsu) untuk Kelas 10 Prodi Akomodasi Perhotelan. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah sistem informasi pelatihan  yang mampu memberikan kemudahan dalam proses pendaftaran pelatihan, memberikan informasi mengenai kejuruan yang sedang dibuka, mengetahui berapa kuota peserta pelatihan yang masih ada serta memberikan informasi pengumuman peserta pelatihan yang telah diterima, software yang digunakan menggunakan PHP. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan penulis yaitu dengan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi ataustudi pustaka. Kemudian data dari permasalahan tersebut dianalisis menggunakan analisis PIECES. Pendekatan pengembangan sistem menggunakan model Rekaya Perangkat Lunak (RPL) Waterfall, bahasa pemrogaman yang digunakan PHP dan database MySQL. Hasil penelitian ini adalah untuk membantu proses pendaftaran dan pengolahan data peserta pelatihan di Balai Latihan Kerja Kabupaten Magelang. Abstract

This paper attempts to reveal the illocutionary act and politeness strategy among the Javanese speech community behind the word “sampun” or “already”. Four different conversations in two different situations were noted based on the writer’s observations. Two conversations between a Basa Jawa teacher and his students were noted in two different classrooms in a junior high school. While, the other two conversations were observed in a house with a Javanese host who was visited by two different Javanese guests in two different occasions. The findings revealed that the word “sampun” in the school which was uttered by the students to respond the teacher’s question was insincere and contained positive politeness and indirect illocutionary act. However, the finding was different in the host and guest conversation where the first guest was sincere when uttering ”sampun” while the other was not so sincere due to the local wisdom of the politeness strategy admitted by the Javanese speech community.   Keywords: “Sampun”, Illocutionary Act, Politeness Strategy, Speech Community
