Abstract

Abstract:Various mathematical abilities require a high level of struggle to be achieved, one of which is the ability to solve mathematical proof problems. Several factors are also associated with this ability, including adversity quotient and resilience. This research aimed to look at the effect of adversity quotient and resilience on the mathematical proof problem-solving ability. This research used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample in this study were 31 students randomly selected from all students of the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Sulawesi Barat who programmed Abstract Algebra course in the academic year of 2019/2020, amounting to 71 students. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regressions. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that adversity quotient and resilience affect the mathematical proof problem-solving ability positively both individually and simultaneously.Abstrak:Berbagai kemampuan matematis memerlukan daya juang tinggi untuk berhasil dicapai, salah satunya kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis. Beberapa faktor pun dikaitkan dengan kemampuan tersebut, antara lain adversity quotient dan resiliensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh adversity quotient dan resiliensi terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 31 mahasiswa yang dipilih secara acak dari seluruh mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Sulawesi Barat yang memprogramkan mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar tahun akademik 2019/2020 yang berjumlah 71 mahasiswa. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa adversity quotient dan resiliensi berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun secara simultan.

Abstract

TThis research aimed to describe students’ thinking process in solving mathematical proof problem. The subjects in this research were Mathematics Education Study Program students in Universitas Sulawesi Barat who were taking Abstract Algebra course on academic year of 2019/2020 and were grouped into 3 proving ability categories, high, medium, and low. For each category, two subjects were chosen to be interviewed in order to obtain a description of students' thinking processes. From the results of tests and interviews, it was found that in the entry phase, high and medium category subjects were able to find the right initial verification procedure, whereas low category subjects were not yet able. In the attack phase, high category subjects were able to complete the process of proof to the final stage very systematically, medium category subjects were able to use the properties and theorems but still have difficulty achieving the right end result, while low category subjects try to use the properties and theorems but are not related to the verification process. In the review phase, high category subjects were able to explain the procedure outline again, category subjects were trying to supplement the shortcomings of the procedure, and low category subjects realized the importance of the initial proof process.

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to describe the efforts and obstacles of teachers in carrying out mathematics learning assessments during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research data were obtained from unstructured interviews with 10 middle school mathematics teachers spread across 4 districts in West Sulawesi Province. The results showed some of the efforts made by the teacher in conducting assessments, namely (1) for the cognitive domain, the teachers used several types of platforms, asked students to come to school by implementing health protocols, and used essay test form, (2) for the psychomotor domain, the teachers paid attention to students’ opinions/ comments during online learning and used performance task, and (3) for the affective domain it was done by observing students’ discipline both in collecting assignments and taking part in online learning. The obstacles faced include not all students submitting assignments and exams due to internet network problems and the emergence of teacher doubts about the originality of student work results. For psychomotor and affective assessments, teachers were very constrained because the majority of teachers only use non-video-based applications, while for psychomotor and affective assessments are usually carried out by observation.

Abstract

Salah satu masalah matematika yang sering dihadapi mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran adalah masalah pembuktian matematis. Pembuktian matematis hadir di banyak mata kuliah, salah satunya pada topik Teori Grup yang ada pada mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar. Pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis memerlukan daya juang dalam penyelesaiannya mengingat prosesnya yang memerlukan pemikiran tingkat tinggi. Salah satu faktor yang diduga terkait adalah adversity quotient. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat pengaruh adversity quotient terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis topik Teori Grup. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Sulawesi Barat yang sedang memprogramkan mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar pada tahun akademik 2019/2020, sedangkan sampelnya adalah 30 orang mahasiswa yang dipilih secara acak dari populasi tersebut. Data yang diperoleh dari Adversity Response Profile (ARP) Quick Take™ dan Tes Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Pembuktian Matematis Topik Teori Grup dianalisis dengan teknik regresi linear sederhana berbantuan perangkat lunak dengan uji prasyarat berupa uji normalitas dan uji linearitas. Pengujian yang digunakan adalah uji dua pihak dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa adversity quotient berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis topik Teori Grup. Dari hasil analisis lanjutan juga diperoleh bahwa pengaruh tersebut merupakan pengaruh positif namun berada pada kategori lemah.

Abstract

Dokumentasi awal menemukan bahwa mayoritas peserta didik di SMA N 3 Majene sudah terbiasa dengan fasilitas smartphone. Namun, terkadang kesempatan ini menjadi bermasalah ketika siswa menggunakannya untuk tujuan yang kurang bermanfaat. Padahal, guru dapat melibatkan media ini sebagai alat bantu mengajar sehingga suasana kelas yang dilaksanakan dapat lebih menggairahkan. Sayangnya, sebagian besar guru di SMA Negeri 3 Majene masih belum memiliki kompetensi dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran Android ini. Untuk mengalamatkan masalah ini, kami telah melaksanakan workshop pengembangan media pembelajaran Android kepada guru-guru di SMA Negeri 3 Majene. Workshop dilakukan dengan metode memberikan materi dan coaching kepada guru dalam membuat aplikasi Android sebagai bahan ajar setiap materi pelajaran. Angket yang diberikan guru telah menyimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar guru sepakat jika mereka telah meningkatkan kemampuannya dalam mengembangkan media berbasis Android setelah mengikuti pelatihan ini.

Abstract

Teori Grup merupakan materi dasar dari mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar yang sarat dengan definisi dan teorema. Oleh karena itu, mempelajari Teori Grup membutuhkan kemampuan penyelesaian pembuktian yang baik. Namun, kemampuan mahasiswa membuktikan masih sangat rendah. Kurangnya pembiasaan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah pembuktian diduga menjadi penyebab lemahnya kemampuan mahasiswa dalam membuktikan. Dibutuhkan sebuah perangkat yang dapat digunakan untuk mampu melatih mahasiswa mengerjakan soal-soal pembuktian. Pada penelitian ini peneliti mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) dengan berpandu teori pemahaman Pirie-Kieren. Teori Pirie-Kieren merupakan teori pemahaman yang terdiri dari delapan lapisan pemahaman, yakni primitive knowing, image making, image having, property noticing, formalising, observing, structuring, dan inventising. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Subjek uji coba penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Sulawesi Barat yang mengambil mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar masa registrasi semester genap tahun akademik 2019 – 2020. Analisis data yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa LKM yang dikembangkan valid, efektif, dan praktis sehingga dapat digunakan untuk uji coba yang lebih luas. Selain itu diperoleh hasil bahwa kemampuan pembuktian matematis topik Teori Grup mahasiswa meningkat dan berada pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis ditinjau dari kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa Kelas XI MIA 2 MAN 1 Majene. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 6 siswa kelas XI MIA 2 MAN 1 Majene yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling, masing-masing tingkat kemampuan disposisi matematis diwakili oleh 2 orang siswa. Teknik keabsahan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah triangulasi teknik dan triangulasi sumber. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari tes, angket, dan wawancara. Skor hasil angket digunakan untuk mengelompokkan kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa. Skor hasil tes dan hasil wawancara kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dianalisis berdasarkan kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa kemudian ditarik kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa kelas XI MIA 2 MAN 1 Majene terbagi menjadi tiga, yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan disposisi matematis tinggi mampu memenuhi indikator 1, 2, 3 dan 4 pemecahan masalah menurut Polya. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan disposisi matematis sedang mampu memenuhi indikator 1, 2, dan 3. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan disposisi matematis rendah tidak mampu memenuhi satu pun indikator pemecahan masalah menurut Polya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning creativity and interest in learning mathematics on mathematics learning outcomes for students of class XI IPA MAN 1 Polewali Mandar. This research is an ex-post facto causal research with a research sample of 72 students, namely 20 students of class XI IPA 1, 20 students of class XI IPA 2, and 20 students of class IPA 3, 12 students of class XI IPA 4 MAN 1 Polewali Mandar selected by using proportionate stratified simple random sampling. Data collection techniques used the following instruments: (1) mathematics learning interest questionnaire, (2) interest in learning mathematics questionnaire, (3) mathematics learning outcomes test. Data analysis using descriptive analysis and  inferential analysis. The result of the descriptive analysis of the data showed that: (1) learning creativity was in the high category, (2) interest in learning was in the medium category, and (3) students’ mathematics learning outcomes were in the medium category. The results of hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis and multiple linear regression, namely: (1) learning creativity has a positive and significant effect on students mathematics learning outcomes, (2) interest in learning has a positive and significant learning outcomes, (3) learning creativity and interest in learning has a positive and significant effect on students mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties of junior high school students in solving problems of operating algebraic forms. This research is included in the type of descriptive research with a qualitative approach, with the research design used is a case study. The subjects of this study were 20 students of class VII SMP Negeri 5 Sendana and 4 students were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the analysis show that students' difficulties in solving algebraic operational problems consist of 4 (four) difficulty criteria, namely; 1) Able to solve problems properly and correctly; 2) Be able to understand the problem and be able to identify information on the problem, be able to plan a solution to the problem but make a mistake in implementing the problem-solving plan and re-examine the answers that have been written; 3) Difficulty understanding the problem, difficulty planning problem solving, difficulty implementing problem solving plans and difficulty re-checking answers; 4) Able to understand the problem and identify the information contained in the problem, experience difficulties in problem-solving plans, difficulties in implementing problem-solving plans and re-checking answers. In conclusion, this study resulted in an analysis of the difficulties of class VII students in solving mathematical problems material for algebraic operations in three ability categories, namely; 1) Subjects with high ability category (ST); 2) Subjects with medium ability category (SS) and 3) Subjects with low ability category (SR) Keywords: Difficulty analysis, Problem solving, Operations of Algebraic Forms

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the process of developing teaching e-modules, the feasibility of teaching e-modules, and the results of evaluating student responses to the development of teaching e-modules for Basic Concepts of Elementary Mathematics based on Realistic Mathematics Education combined with Problem-Based Learning using Flipbook. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) research with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). This research was tested on 55 3rd-semester students in 2022/2023 PGSD Department of Gorontalo State University academic year. The instruments used during the research were material expert validation questionnaires, media expert validation questionnaires, and student response evaluation questionnaires. The material expert validation questionnaire, media expert validation questionnaire, and student response evaluation questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively using a Likert scale. The results of material expert validation obtained an average percentage of component feasibility of 96% with very strong interpretation criteria, the results of media expert validation obtained an average percentage of component feasibility of 97.88% with very strong interpretation criteria and the results of evaluating student responses to teaching e-modules obtained an average percentage of 86.86% with very strong interpretation criteria. So that the results of the study indicate that the teaching e-module for Basic Concepts of Elementary Mathematics based on Realistic Mathematics Education combined with Problem-Based Learning using Flipbook is said to be feasible and qualified to be used as teaching material in the learning process of the Basic Concepts of Elementary Mathematics course.
