Abstract

An inventory control of raw material in an industry is important to minimize the total cost. The objective of this research was to control the  inventory of soybean as the main raw material in a tofu industry using the Fixed Order Quantity Method. The method was employed to determine the optimal quantity order, safety stock, reorder point, and to optimize the total inventory cost. The calculations were made based on the available records of the product demand of the previous year, and an estimation was performed for the following year. The results showed that the estimated cost associated with inventory for one year ahead were Rp. 114,767,466.50 of purchasing cost, Rp. 114,794.38 of ordering cost, Rp. 122,609.28 of holding cost and Rp. 186.05 of shortages cost. The respective optimal values of quantity order, reorder point, and safety stock  were 1,324.12 kg, 14.52 kg, and 43.92 kg, thus the total cost was Rp 115,005,056.20. The implementation of the method was able to reduce the inventory cost by Rp. 286,595.72 in a year. The sensitivity analysis, if the demand and price of soybean changes, showed that 10 % up or 10 % down of the parameters would not likely affect the optimal quantity and inventory total cost.   Key words: inventory control, Fixed Order Quantity, cost, tofu industry

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to measure the capability of frying and spinning, to calculate the sigma value in frying and spinning, and to analyze the factors causing the unsuitability of chips form to specification, and to recommend quality improvement at chips industry.  Descriptive research was used with six sigma approach. The quantity of samples was 100 units in 20 observations.   The stages of this research were defining (determining CTQ), measuring (measuring the process capability and calculating sigma value), and analyzing (analyzing the defect cause) stages.  In defining stage, the product defect in crushed chips after spinning was 32.5%.  In measuring stages, the process capability measurement obtained Cp (process potential index) of 0.64 and Ppk (process capability index) value of 0.49, and sigma value of 2.11.  In analyzing stage based on fishbone diagram, the causing factors of crushed chips were machine, man, and method. Recommendation to reduce defect was by periodically worker evaluation, SOP, and re-analysis the maintenance schedule.Keywords: apple chip, product defect, sigma value

Abstract

This research is addressed for designing an information system provides agro-industrial information of Pasuruan District. This research is conducted with descriptive method. The design’s steps use inception and elaboration steps of USDP and support of UWE at the elaboration. Models that yielded from the research are use case model, conceptual model, navigation space model, navigation structure model, presentation model, deployment diagram and component diagram. A descriptive type of research was conducted to design an agro industrial information system of Pasuruan Regency. The information covered general aspect of the regency, agricultural crops, processing of agricultural crops and their products, agriculture-based industries, and the relevant supporting industries, available reading materials and references, guest lists visiting the sites, and maps of profile of the districts in the regency. The design was carried out by the use of the Unified  Software Development Process (USDP) and Unified Modeling Language-based Web Engineering (UWE).The design of agro industrial information system developed was able to present use case model, conceptual model, navigation space model, navigation structure model, presentation model, deployment diagram and component diagram. However, it still needed further works to improve the features, especially to provide more details information such as other available agro industrial infrastructures, financial analysis for agro industries. Abstract

Artificial neural network (ANN) system, an information computing processor, is developed to resemble the natural biological neural network system. Like the biological one, the ANN system is able to learn, store, and process or to interpret the new data input based on the previous set of values. Therefore the ANN system may be used as a tool for forecasting. This research was run to forecast demand on the rubber commodity, RSS-1, produced by an Indonesian government-owned estate company. The ANN system was modeled as a multilayer feed forward network by means of a back propagation as a learning algorithm. A sigmoid function was used as the activating function, whereas the learning rate (lr), momentum (mc), and maximum epochs 100.000 were added to accelerate the learning process. The training results showed the developed ANN system worked very well. There network operated on the structure of 2-5-4-1 with the respective value of lr = 0.01 and mc = 0.9. This structure was able to recognize the causal design between the demand, the price and stocks of RSS-1 rubber at the company by rationality of network learning results, known as MSE, at a level of 0.69%.Keyword: Artificial neural network, demand forecasting, rubber

Abstract

Industrial jamu and traditional medicine are one of industrial that able to existing in the middle of Indonesian economic and political crisis. This is not released from some opportunities that faced such as: trend Indonesian community to using back the nature product (back to nature), abundant material, high price of chemical medicine, plenty of community chooses traditional medicine than modern and Indonesia has great population. But, their existing not released from some constrains that faced that are high competition both domestic and abroad especially from Chinese. The enlargement imitative jamu and mixed chemical material, and world medical attitude that not fully receiving the existing of industrial jamu and traditional medicine. Those constrains not minimize industrial jamu to develop its efforts, notify available big potency. In order to develop its effort then need to be made strategic planning to make industry operating effectively and efficiently to achieve the goal. SWOT analysis used to analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Likert scale was using to obtain the priority or weight for each element in internal and external factors with range scale 1 – 5. SWOT analysis result revels that the best strategy at this moment  is  stabilized strategic through beware strategic, reminding the high level of competition. The   alternative strategies using  SWOT matrix  are  depending  company’s image, depending and improving product quality, improving size and variation of product with diversification product, extended market area to the new market, developing distribution line, improving promotion, developing   human resources,  improving quality control, and using high technology.   Key words: Strategic planning, Industrial jamu and traditional medicine, competitiveness.

Abstract

Processed orange sweet potato has produced people who joined in Gapoktan Sukoanyar Village, District Pakis, Kab. Malang, among others stick, lunkhead, crackers. In the meantime, orange sweet potato processed products they produce only deposited in Food Production and Training Center (FPTC) owned THP FTP UB Department. However, manufacturers have complained that the production capacity and the number of products sold is still unbalanced. In other words, many products are not sold, while the product has been distributed to FPTC not all sold out. The purpose of this study to find out what the consumer desires, and obtain the design combination of attributes (stimuli) sweet potato processed products. The population in this study is a population of Malang. The size of the sample to be taken, calculated using the formula Slovin. By using a significance level of 5% was obtained sample size of 400. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling, the purposive sampling. So respondents will be used for the sample of respondents who like sweet potatoes. The questionnaire was given to a number of respondents. Questions in the questionnaire is an open question. From the results of the questionnaire, obtained 4 levels of attributes that taste, price, type and how to purchase. 4 levels of attributes and levels, gained as much as 16 combinations of attributes (stimuli), both designed using procedures and orthogonal syntax, whereas if only used 3-level attributes, ie taste, price and type of the obtained 8 stimuli if designed using a procedure syntax and 7 stimuli if designed using orthogonal procedure.Keywords: attributtes product, sweet potatoes, stimuli, syntax, orthogonal

Abstract

The purpose of balancing development protected the wide of gap, especially tempe industries as special produk of Malang City. The research purpose to know tempe industries map in Malang City were known the different of each cluster and how handled its. The local government of Malang City by the information was hoped could serious moved the specific development of otonomi daerah, on the target, and balanced in whole of Malang City area. Clustering in this research used Cluster Analysis by the helped of Statistical Program SPSS 11 version. The research was conducted started January 2004 in industries tempe centras which had chosen by Depperindag of Malang City. The variables which were used were the variables to classify the industry such as worker total, production value, row material total, investment value, and were added used tecnology, and product diversification for more informative. Data analysis were used Korelation Test, Dominant Komponen Searching, and Hierarchy Clustering Method. By the data analysis was known that all of tempe industries in Malang City were micro and small classified still which 17 industries (20%) were micro and 85 industries (80%) were small. If the result was three cluster, Tulusrejo, Merjosari, and Mulyurejo Centra were just made a cluster which had big chance become micro industry. Lesanpuro Centra made two cluster which four industries joined as Cluster One and two industries joined as Cluster Two and eventhough they had small industy classification but had big chance joined as Cluster One. Sanan Centra was centra which spreaded made three cluster such as 64 industries joined  as Cluster One, 14 industries joined as Cluster Two, and one industry joined as Cluster Three. Abstract

Research was aimed to develop the cane-scale queuing system at PG Pandjie, Situbondo, and to find good solution to fix the waiting line problem.  Based on this research the queuing model that used in cane scale is (M/M/1):( FIFO/∞/∞) with arrival rate (λ) 84 truck/hour, service rate (µ) 39 truck/hour, and average waiting time in the system is 7 hours and 3 minutes. To improve this system performance, there are 3 alternative, first alternative is to decrease the service time.  Therefore, the service rate will increase to 45 trucks per hour. This alternative will decrease average waiting time in the system to 5 hours 45 minutes. Second alternative is to add a service facility. This alternative will decrease average waiting time to 47 minutes. Third alternative is combining the first alternative and second alternative. Average waiting time in the system decreases until 11 minutes if this alternative is implemented. Based on utility factor and probability, costumer must wait.  The best alternative to solve the waiting line problem in cane scale station is third alternative.  This is due to this alternative has utility factor that equal than 1 and the probability for costumer to wait is smaller than the other alternative.Keywords: cane-scale station queuing system, modelling, utility factor

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui atribut yang masih kurang dari rata-rata nilai Servqual yang kemudian diberi rekomendasi perbaikan dengan metode TRIZ. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Servqual untuk mengetahui tingkat kepentingan, tingkat kinerja, dan gap dan metode TRIZ untuk memberikan rekomendasi perbaikan. Hasil penelitian menggunakan metode Servqual, atribut yang masih perlu ditingkatkan kualitas pelayanannya yaitu kecepatan penyajian makanan, konsistensi rasa makanan, kebersihan restoran, kelengkapan peralatan makan, kecepatan penanganan keluhan konsumen, desain interior, dan kecepatan pelayanan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen. Rekomendasi yang diberikan dengan metode TRIZ diprioritaskan pada angka inventive principles yang keluar lebih dari dua kali ABSTRACTThe research aims to find attribute that posseses less service values, thus giving improvement recommendation with TRIZ method. The research uses Servqual to know the importance level, performance level and gap, and the TRIZ method is to recommend the improvements. The results of the research showed that the attributes are still requiring improvement service quality comprises food serving promptness, taste consistency, restaurant cleanness, cutlery availability, promptness of handling customers complaints, interior design as well as promptness of service in satisfying customers’ needs. Abstract

ABSTRAKPerkembangan bisnis cafe yang semakin pesat, menuntut cafe agar selalu membuat inovasi dan konsep baru yang mampu menarik lebih banyak konsumen. Kunci utama dalam menarik konsumen selain inovasi dan konsep baru adalah kemampuan cafe untuk memberikan kepuasan kepada konsumen. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan atribut yang menjadi prioritas utama dan menentukan respon teknis yang menjadi target utama dalam usulan perbaikan pada cafe Right Time untuk meningkatkan kepuasan konsumen. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode fuzzy-servqual dan quality function deployment (QFD). Pengintegrasian logika fuzzy dan servqual bertujuan untuk mengurangi ambigu dari subjektivitas hasil metode servqual. Usulan perbaikan pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode QFD. Berdasarkan pengolahan data dengan metode fuzzy-servqual, atribut yang menjadi prioritas utama yaitu penyajian makanan dan minuman yang cepat serta tepat sesuai pesanan, kejelasan dan kewajaran harga yang ditawarkan, dan porsi penyajian makanan dan minuman yang konsisten. Pengolahan data menggunakan metode QFD menunjukkan respon teknis yang menjadi target utama dalam usulan perbaikan adalah membuat standar operasional prosedur pelayanan terhadap konsumen, mengadakan pelatihan komunikasi dan etika karyawan secara rutin, dan memperbaiki sarana dan prasarana ABSTRACTThe boost expansion of cafe business has currently required the innovation and provided a new concept which could attract and retain consumers. The purpose of this research is to determine the attributes that are main priorities and determine the technical responses of purposing improvements of customer satisfaction for cafe “Right Time”. The method used in this research are fuzzy-servqual and Quality Function Deployment (QFD). Integration of fuzzy logic and servqual aim to reduce the ambiguous results of subjectivity servqual method. While the QFD was used to propose the café improvement. Based on fuzzy-servqual data processing, the attributes that are main priorities are presentation of the food and drinks were prompt and appropriate to order (-0.96), clarity and reasonability of the price offered and portion of the food and drink are consistent. Data processing using QFD showed technical response resulted that the creation of standard operating procedure of customer services, communication training, ethics for employee, improvement of facilities and infrastructure are the main target of development cafe business
