Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kemampuan mengidentifikasi isu ilmiah dengan kemampuan menggunakan bukti ilmiah dalam literasi sains. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 149 mahasiswa pendidikan kimia dari empat universitas di Aceh yang dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes yang disusun dari soal-soal literasi sains PISA. Data dianalisis dengan uji korelasi Spearman Rank pada SPSS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan diantara kemampuan mengidentifikasi isu ilmiah dengan kemampuan menggunakan bukti ilmiah dalam literasi sains.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of module-based online learning with an ethnochemical approach in improving students' scientific literacy skills. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The study population was students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Samudra University who were taking basic chemistry courses. The results showed an increase in science literacy skills based on the N-gain value in the experimental class of 0.54 in the medium category and 0.33 in the control class who were also in the medium category. Analysis with t test based on the posttest value obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0.030 or <0.05, which indicates a significant difference in the posttest scores of the two classes. Based on these two Kés, it can be concluded that module-based online learning with an ethnochemical approach is effective for improving students' scientific literacy skills. Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to train people to make simple tools that can detect the presence of formalin and borax in food so that people are helped in choosing safe food ingredients. The target partners of the training activities were mothers in Meurandeh Dayah Village. Based on preliminary search, partners have not yet realized the dangers of food containing prohibited additives such as formalin, borax and harmful dyes to health. Partners also do not know the simple way to detect the presence of formalin, borax, and forbidden dyes such as Rhodamine B in food. Therefore, the activities carried out include socialization about the dangers of prohibited additives in food and training to make simple tools to detect the presence of formalin and borax using turmeric and toothpicks. The activity continued with the practice of detecting the presence of prohibited additives in food using simple tools that have been made. This activity contributes to improving the level of public health through the skills to choose food that is safe for health.Keywords: training, borax, formalin, harmful dyes, additives.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has plagued almost all parts of the world. The virus is transmitted by droplets, droplets, or in medical terms known as droplets when someone coughs, sneezes, or talks. There are two ways of transmitting the corona virus through droplets, namely directly and indirectly. The use of masks in preventing direct transmission of the virus is an important thing to do. Making waterproof masks made from polyester fabrics that are waterproof, splash or droplet seepage is an alternative for people to get proper masks without having to spend a lot of money. The use of a waterproof mask made from polyester cloth is not only more economical, but also more environmentally friendly because it can be reused. The simple manufacturing process and easy and inexpensive materials allow this business to be accepted by the community. This waterproof mask making training can improve the readiness of the people of Langsa City, especially Lhokbanie Village, to face the Covid-19 pandemic. The mask products produced from this training can also be used repeatedly so that they can protect the environment.

Abstract

Birem Rayeuk Village, East Aceh Regency is an area that is overgrown with bamboo tree. Bamboo shoots have long been known to the public as food ingredients. Bamboo shoots are usually processed into vegetables or other foods. Besides the delicious taste, bamboo shoots are rich in fiber and nutrients. Bamboo shoots contain protein, carbohydrates, fats, and vitamins. Even so, there are many people don’t know and there are still few who consume it. Therefore, in this community service activity, the service team conducted trained in making bamboo shoots chips which became one of the economically valuable snack innovations. The training method starts from preparing the meeting place, the community receives direction, socializes community service activities implementation plan, and ended with training in making bamboo shoots chips. The results of this community service are products of bamboo shoots chips that have a savory and delicious taste. In addition, bamboo shoots chips can be used as one of the business prospects that can be done with small capital and large profits.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh profil literasi sains siswa khususnya pada kemampuan proses sains. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif menggunakan metode survei. Penyampelan menggunakan teknik stratified cluster random sampling. Survei dilakukan terhadap 230 orang siswa kelas X dari tiga SMA Negeri di kota Padang yang mewakili tiga klaster. Gambaran tentang kemampuan proses sains siswa menggunakan hasil tes PISA. Profil kompetensi proses sains dinyatakan dalam proportion correct dan dibandingkan terhadap benchmark nasional dan internasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan proses sains siswa masih rendah, ditunjukkan oleh proportion correct < 0,5. Pada semua proses sains, capaian siswa lebih rendah dibandingkan benchmark internasional. Namun, capaian siswa lebih tinggi dibandingkan benchmark nasional pada dua dari tiga proses sains yaitu menjelaskan fenomena secara ilmiah dan menggunakan bukti ilmiah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi sistem koloid dan mengetahui keterlaksanaan model pembelajaran discovery learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA di MAN 1 Langsa tahun pelajaran 2018/2019. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling sehingga didapatkan 2 kelas sampel yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yaitu tes berbentuk uraian pada materi sistem koloid. Keefektifan model pembelajaran discovery learning dilihat dari n-Gain, uji perbedaan rata-rata, dan uji ukuran pengaruh. Nilai n-Gain yang diperoleh pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,77 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,66, yang artinya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol tergolong dalam kriteria sedang. Hasil uji perbedaan rata-rata menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung (2,89) ≥ ttabel (1,68), sehingga H0 ditolak, yang artinya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi secara signifikan dibandingkan siswa pada kelas kontrol. Hasil analisis ukuran pengaruh menunjukkan bahwa nilai μ yang diperoleh sebesar 0,96 yang artinya efek model discovery learning terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa tergolong kategori besar. Berdasarkan nilai n-Gain, uji perbedaan rata-rata, dan uji ukuran pengaruh, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi sistem koloid dibandingkan pembelajaran yang tidak menggunakan model discovery learning. Keterlaksanaan model pembelajaran discovery learning pada materi sistem koloid di kelas XI IPA MAN 1 Langsa terlaksana dengan baik, dengan tingkat ketercapaian guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran pada setiap pertemuannya berturut-turut sebesar 73,80%, 79,10%, dan 85,70%. Sedangkan pada aktivitas siswa pada saat pembelajaran tiap pertemuannya berturut-turut sebesar 100%, 91,70%, dan 94,43%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan hubungan pemahaman konsep dasar kimia dengan kemampuan literasi sains. Penelitian merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Teknik pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Sampel merupakan 149 mahasiswa pendidikan kimia dari beberapa kelas dan angkatan. Instrumen pengumpul data terdiri atas tes pemahaman konsep dasar kimia dan tes literasi sains. Analisis data dengan uji korelasi Spearman Rank pada program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,534 atau lebih besar dibandingkan dengan rs tabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% yaitu 0,197. Sementara itu, signifikansi atau nilai probabilitasnya sebesar 0,000 atau lebih kecil dari 0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pemahaman konsep dasar kimia dengan kemampuan literasi sains. Jadi semakin tinggi pemahaman konsep dasar kimia mahasiswa maka juga semakin tinggi kemampuan literasi sainsnya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the increase in students' scientific literacy by implementation of case method learning. This is a quasi-experimental research using a one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample is the first semester students of the Chemistry Education Department at Universitas Samudra in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. This research consists of four stages, namely material analysis, development of tools and instruments, implementation, and data analysis. The scientific literacy test instrument was used to measure students' scientific literacy. Students' scientific literacy skills are presented according to content, science process, and context aspects. The increase in students' scientific literacy skills was analyzed based on the N-gain and paired sample t test. The results of the study found that students' scientific literacy skills in all content, science process, and contexts, were higher in the posttest than the pretest except for content energy that accompanies changes in material and context of natural resources. The average scientific literacy ability of students at the posttest (74.33) was higher than at the pretest (57.08). The N-gain value of 0.40 indicates an increase in students' scientific literacy skills with implementation of case method learning in the medium category. Analysis with paired sample t test indicates a significant difference in the pretest and posttest scores. Thus, it can be concluded that case method learning can improve students' scientific literacy skills in the three domains of scientific literacy.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive quantitative that aims to determine the understanding of science teachers and students' knowledge in solving creative thinking-oriented scientific literacy questions. The instruments used in this research were a teacher interview questionnaire and creative thinking-oriented scientific literacy essay questions. Teacher interview data were analyzed using a descriptive percentage, and student test results were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating the average percentage score for creative thinking-oriented scientific literacy skills based on scientific literacy indicators and creative thinking indicators. The results of the analysis show that 83.33% of teachers still rarely and almost never use scientific literacy and creative thinking assessments in science learning. Meanwhile, in the results of the analysis of the students' test data, the average percentage for the scientific literacy indicator was 22.86% and the creative thinking indicator was 23.23% with the predicate of very poor and in the low category. Thus, it can be concluded that the understanding of junior high school science teachers in Langsa City in developing creative thinking-oriented scientific literacy assessments is still low. This has an impact on the students' abilities, which show that the creative thinking-oriented scientific literacy skills are classified as very poor in the low category
