Abstract

The research aimed to describe the form, function, and meaning of bebasan as a cultural orality spoken by the Samin in Bojonegoro. The Samin community was a community group residing in Bojonegoro, East Java. Aside from their distinguished language, the Samin was also well-known for its unique orality called bebasan, representing its culture and society. It was deemed significant to document this national tradition as a form of expression spoken based on the habits and behaviours of the Samin community. In a society that upheld the culture of oral traditions, the Samin community had placed bebasan as one of the rules of life that they subconsciously needed to obey. The research employed folklore theory in order to explore and observe the meaning of bebasan as a part of traditional folklore. Folkore was inseparable from the conditions of society and the culture that encompassed it, so it was necessary to comprehend and give meaning to the folklore. A descriptive qualitative method was applied in the research. Data was obtained by recording and documenting the orality spoken within the Samin community. The results reveal that there are six forms of Bebasan which include directives and teachings on how to conduct oneself well in life. It is also observed that bebasan functions as a medium for advice, reminders, and teachings of life, all ingrained in the Samin community.

This study aims to reveal the ways how lexical choices in articles constructed positive-self [henceforth (+)] and negative-other [henceforth (-)] representation. Van Dijk’s Critical Dis-course Analysis was used specifically on the lexical choice to analyze discourse. The socialism and liberal-ism theories were examined to analyze cognition and the history of Chinese Indonesians in Indonesia was explored to analyze society. Finding shows the article uses biased lexical choices. The articles represent Chinese Indonesian as a victim; Indonesian Government, Police, Military, Press, Moslem as a provocateur; and Native Indonesians as a prosecutor. Also, the articles present social and liberal ideology. Hence, the readers must be aware of the representation since it can shape their belief.

Abstract

Culture in BIPA learning as a tool of cultural diplomacy has become an interesting theme for researchers. The cultural aspect of BIPA is also related to the cultural closeness of BIPA students to the place where they study (the area/city where BIPA is studied in Indonesia). This study aimed to identify and describe the use of the Sodoran Tengger tradition in BIPA learning of B2 level activities to increase Indonesian knowledge competence. This research is a qualitative type with a descriptive method. The use of descriptive analysis methods is carried out to describe the facts, which are then studied with the relevant theory. The results of this study are the use of the Tengger Sodoran dance as BIPA teaching material and the use of traditional sodoran fairy tales as BIPA teaching materials. Utilizing Sodoran Tengger's local tradition material on aspects of the meaning of dance moves and fairy tales is an innovative and interesting choice for BIPA class teachers. The existing aspects can be explored and collaborated into various fun learning activities. Besides improving linguistic competence, it is also a means of introducing local Tengger culture (Javanese culture) to BIPA students.

The researcher divided the nasal allomorph into 2 parts, /m/, /ñ/, and/ŋ/ which have 2 roles of affixes which is derivational and inflectional. Second, the nasal allomorphs /ŋǝ/, /n/, and /ṇ/ have 1 affix role. Both classifications apply the terms and conditions of the initial phoneme of a verb.Key words : Derivasional, Inflectional, Verb, Nasal, Javanese.
