Abstract

Dayak onions (Eleutherine Palmifolia (L.) Merr.) bulb stem contains phtyochemical contents, which act as antidiabetic compounds, such as eleutherol, eleuthocide A, and eleutherinoside B, as well as antioxidant compounds, which include triterpenoid, poliphenol, and flavonoid. Dayak onions was able to be used as the antidiabetic, since it had the ability to lower the blood glucose level and prevent from the free radicals, thus supressing the oxidative stress condition. This research had purpose to analyze the effect of Dayak onions bulb-stem as antioxidant and anti diabetic drugs. The research used experimental method with the population in this research was 25 male white mice strain wistar. The concentration of Dayak onions bulb-stem extracts were 300mg.kgBW-1, 400mg.kgBW-1, and 500mg.kgBW-1. Data analysis used Tukey HSD Test with 95% of  significance degree and was continued using manova test (average group ratio test). The result showed that. the extract of Dayak onions bulb-stem had the antidiabetical and antioxidant activity, which could lower the blood glucose levels and malondialdehid on the male white mice strain Wistar with the optimum effective doze of 500 mg.kgBW-1.   Keywords: Dayak onions bulb-stem, Blood glucose level, Malondialdehid (MDA)

Abstract

Travelling has occurred since a long time ago. Travelling is not only done by men butalso by women. In relation to travelling, travelling done by women is examined, especially thelandlady’s environment, as there is a relationship between the host and the guest. The researchproblems are (1) how is reflection of tourism in the travelling women portrayed on the novels ofDaisy Miller, A Passage to India, and Pada Sebuah Kapal?. (2) How are motivating andattracting factors related to tourism as reflected in the travelling women articulated on the novelsof Daisy Miller, A Passage to India, and Pada Sebuah Kapal?. (3) How do cultural barriersoccur in tourism as reflected in the travelling women on Daisy Miller, a Passage to India, andPada Sebuah Kapal novel? In general, this research is to find out the comparison of travellingdone by women. Specifically, it is to discover the reflection of tourism, how the motivating andattracting factors and cultural barriers occur in tourism as reflected in the travelling done bywomen.This research is conducted on three novels, Daisy Miller written by Henry James, APassage To India by E.M. Forster, and Pada Sebuah Kapal by NH. Dini called comparativeliterature showing the continents of America, Europe and Asia. Discussing the three continents,this research is called global literature. Hermeneutic method was used to interpret the content ofthose three novels by employing deconstruction, postcolonial and feminism theories. The maindata were taken from those novels and the location of the research was both at private librariesand state libraries or institutions and websites. To support the main data, secondary data werealso needed, which in this case, were obtained by interviewing the women who have travelledabroad. Then the results were formally and informally presented.The findings show that the reflection of tourism in travelling done by women is representedby family companion, and that the means of transportation to their destinations are indigenousmeans of transportation and that the tourist objects visited are art metamorphosis, travel hyperreality,sacred places and natural and human recreational places. The factors motive ting thewomen to travel are inter personal, cultural, status and prestige. The things making theminterested in travelling are: the Castle of Chillon in Switzerland and the regions’s history, theevening party in Italy as a tradition to welcome new people, the architectures of Caesars’Palaces, the Coliseum and Chandrapore club as a tradition to welcome new people, the bridge party to know the language spoken and dress worn – traditional costumes of India, Koyasan asBuddhist religion and Paris as the centre of dress model. Cultural barriers refer to differentetiquettes, ideologies and moral values resulting in different ways of travelling and theirsolutions.Knowing the culture of the destination that is going to be visited is really needed, at least inorder not to know nothing at all about such a destination; furthermore, it reduces culturalbarriers. That is why cross cultural understanding is really necessarily given not only to thedoers of tourism but also to all institutions in order to reduce misunderstanding and increaseappreciation towards each other.

Oleh karena itu diperlukan pelatihan pemahaman liyan agar tidak menimbulkan kesalahpahaman karena sopan di suatu budaya belum tentu sopan di budaya yang lain. Ada beberapa kendala yang dihadapi oleh staf perpustakaan Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang seperti (1) Kenyataan yang ada di lapangan adalah bahwa saat ini masih belum banyak staf yang menguasai bahasa Inggris terutama mereka yang langsung berhadapan dengan pengunjung, (2) sebagian staf kurang berminat mempelajari dan membiasakan diri untuk menggunakan bahasa Inggris di lingkungan perpustakaan karena dianggap sulit dan memakan waktu. Alternatif yang ditawarkan dalam pengabdian ini adalah; (1) memberikan pelatihan kemampuan berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris bagi staf perpustakaan Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, (2) memberikan pelatihan pemahaman liyan. Luaran dari pengabdian ini berupa (1) kemampuan merespon ungkapan ? ungkapan sederhana yang terkait dengan kegiatan di perpustakaan dan (2) adanya inisiatif untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris.Kata kunci: Pelatihan, Komunikasi, Bahasa Inggris, Pemahaman Liyan

Abstract

Abstract: The study aims to describe 1) the method of planting character values in Early Childhood in RA Al-MasithohTegalgondo, and 2) the inhibiting factors in the process of instilling character values in Early Childhood in RA Al-MasithohTegalgondo and efforts to overcome it. The method used in this research is qualitative. With descriptive approaches. This research was conducted at RA Al-MasithohTegalgondoKarangploso Malang. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, conclusion making, and verification. Testing the validity of the data using the method triangulation technique. The results showed that 1) methods that are often used in the cultivation of character values in early childhood in RA AL Masithoh include habituation methods, exemplary methods, story methods, play methods, demonstration methods, and travel tour methods, and 2) factors that become an obstacle in the cultivation of character values in early childhood in RA AL Masithoh, including inadequate learning facilities and infrastructure, a social environment that is not supportive as a place of social interaction, parents who pay less attention and do not teach character values who are good in their family environment, students come from different family backgrounds, and parents who cannot bear to leave their children at school and wait for them outside the room. Efforts to overcome these obstacles include socializing to students' parents about the importance of character education in the family environment, designing learning that is comfortable and enjoyable, doing activities that are loved by children, holding parenting activities intended for parents of students by bringing in resource persons competent in their fields, inviting the community to create a safe, peaceful, orderly, disciplined and free social environment from deviant acts as a place for children's association, and building cooperation with all parties concerned with character education between schools, parents of students and the local community.Keywords: Early Childhood, Character, Planting values Abstrak: Tujuan dari pada penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan 1) metode penanaman nilai-nilai karakter pada Anak Usia Dini di RA Al-MasithohTegalgondo, dan 2) faktor penghambat dalam proses penanaman nila-nilai karakter pada Anak Usia Dini di RA Al-MasithohTegalgondo serta upaya untuk mengatasinya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Dengan pendekatakan deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di RA Al-MasithohTegalgondoKarangploso Malang. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data meliputipengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, pengambilan kesimpulan, dan verifikasi. Pengujian keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) metode yang sering digunakan dalam penanaman nilai-nilai karakter pada anak usia dini di RA AL Masithoh meliputimetode pembiasaan, metode peneladanan, metode cerita, metode bermain, metode demonstrasi, dan metode karya wisata, dan 2) faktor yang menjadi penghambat dalam penanaman nilai-nilai karakter pada anak usia dini di RA AL Masithoh, meliputisarana dan prasarana pendukung pembelajaran yang masih kurang memadai, lingkungan sosial yang tidak mendukung sebagai tempat pergaulan anak, orang tua yang kurang memperhatikan dan tidak mengajarkan nilai-nilai karakter yang baik dilingkungan keluarganya, peserta didik berasal dari latar belakanng keluarga yang berbeda-beda, dan orang tua yang tidak tega meninggalkan anaknya di sekolah dan menunggunya diluar ruangan. Upaya untuk mengatasi hambatan tersebut antara lainmelakukan sosialisasi pada orang tua siswa tentang pentingnya pendidikan karakter dilingkungan keluarga, mendesain pembelajaran yang nyaman dan menyenangkan, melakukan  kegiatan yang disenangi oleh anak-anak, mengadakan kegiatan parenting yang diperuntukkan bagi orang tua siswa dengan mendatangkan narasumber yang berkompeten dibidangnya, mengajak masyarakat untuk menciptakan lingkungan sosial yang aman, damai, tertib, disiplin serta bebas dari perbuatan yang menyimpang sebagai tempat pergaulan anak, dan membangun kerja sama dengan semua pihak yang berkepentingan terhadap pendidikan karakter antara sekolah, orang tua siswa dan masyarakat setempat.Kata kunci: Anak Usia Dini, Karakter, Penanaman nilai-nilai

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the role of the MIN 1 and MIN 2 principals of East Flores as managers, success supporting factors, the obstacles faced and the principal's efforts to overcome obstacles. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of research is descriptive. This research uses a multi-site study. Data obtained through interviews, observation, and study documentation. The results of this study indicate that the roles of the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 as managers are 1) Involving teachers and staff in managing school programs; 2) Conduct curriculum management; 3) Creating a conducive learning and achievement climate; 4) Include teachers in training to improve their competence; 5) Facilitating facilities and infrastructure supporting school activities; 6) Planning a budget; 7) Conduct student management activities; 8) Specifically assigning teachers to oversee the program, and 9) Conduct supervision. Internal factors that support the success of the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 East Flores as managers are the togetherness of the teachers to optimize their potential and the willingness to sincerely carry out the school programs that have been planned together. The external factor is the strong support of student guardians in the programs that have been run by schools. The internal obstacle faced by the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 East Flores as managers are the limited time for teachers to carry out or run the program to the maximum extent possible. The external obstacle is the student's guardian awareness of the school program. Efforts made by the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 East Flores as managers in improving the quality of schools to overcome internal and external problems are communicating to teachers to be more active in carrying out or carrying out planned programs.Keywords: Principal, Manager, Multisitus Study Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kepala sekolah MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer, faktor pendukung keberhasilan, kendala yang dihadapi dan upaya kepala sekolah mengatasi kendala. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi multisitus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa peran kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 sebagai manajer yaitu 1) Melibatkan guru dan pegawai dalam pengelolaan program sekolah; 2) Melakukan pengelolaan kurikulum; 3) Mewujudkan iklim belajar dan berprestasi yang kondusif; 4) Mengikutkan guru-guru dalam pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kompetensinya; 5) Memfasilitasi sarana dan prasarana pendukung kegiatan sekolah; 6) Merencanakan penganggaran; 7) Melakukan kegiatan pengelolaan kesiswaan; 8) Menugaskan secara khusus guru-guru untuk mengawal program, dan 9) Melakukan pengawasan. Faktor internal yang menjadi pendukung keberhasilan kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer adalah kebersamaan guru-guru untuk mengoptimalkan potensi yang dimiliki dan keinginnan yang ikhlas untuk mejalankan program sekolah yang telah direncankan bersama-sama. Faktor eksternalnya adalah dukungan wali murid yang kuat pada program yang telah dijalankan oleh sekolah. Kendala internal yang dihadapi kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer adalah keterbatasan waktu dari guru-guru untuk melakukan atau menjalankan program dengan semaksimal mungkin. Kendala eksternalnya adalah kesadaran wali murid akan program sekolah tersebut. Upaya yang dilakukan kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer dalam meningkatkan mutu sekolah untuk mengatasi masalah internal dan eksternal adalah mengkomunikasikan kepada guru-guru untuk lebih aktif melakukan atau menjalankan program yang telah direncanakan.Kata kunci: Kepala Sekolah, Manajer, Studi Multisitus

Abstract

Abstract: The aims this study is 1) to describe the strategy of implementing character education through school culture at SDN Bandungrejosari 1 Malang; 2) describe the factors that become problems in the implementation of character education through school culture at SDN Bandungrejosari 1 Malang, and 3) describe the school's strategy in overcoming the problem factors in implementing character education through school culture at SDN Bandungrejosari 1 Malang. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted at SDN Bandungrejosari 1, Jl. S. Supriyadi 179, Ex. Bandungrejosari, Kec. Breadfruit, Malang. Data collection techniques are used through observation, interviews, and documentation to the vice-principal, curriculum and teacher classes. Data analysis techniques with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion making. Testing the validity of the data through a credibility test carried out by extending observations or observations, conducting interviews, and documenting the same informant. The results showed that 1) the implementation of character education through school culture has been implemented well through routine and programmed activities, spontaneous activities, modeling or exemplary activities, and extracurricular activities by developing five values namely religious, nationalist, integrity, independent, cooperation; 2) the existing problems, namely from the students themselves, parents who misinterpreted the teacher's explanation, the situation and condition of the student's character at home and school, and 3) the strategy undertaken was to coordinate with parents and make special notes to improve student character.Keywords: School Culture, Implementation, Character BulidingAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu 1) mendeskripsikan strategi implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui budaya sekolah di SDN Bandungrejosari 1 Malang; 2) mendeskripsikan faktor yang menjadi permasalahan dalam implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui budaya sekolah di SDN Bandungrejosari 1 Malang; dan 3) mendeskripsikan strategi sekolah dalam mengatasi faktor permasalahan dalam implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui budaya sekolah di SDN Bandungrejosari 1 Malang. Teknik analisis data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Pengujian keabsahan data melalui uji kredibilitas yang dilakukan dengan perpanjangan pengamatan atau observasi, melakukan wawancara, dan dokumentasi kepada informan yang sama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui budaya sekolah telah dilaksanakan dengan baik melalui kegiatan rutin dan terprogram, kegiatan spontan, kegiatan pemodelan atau keteladanan, dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dengan mengembangkan lima nilai yaitu nilai religius, nasionalis, integritas, mandiri, gotong royong;2) permasalahan yang ada yaitu dari siswa sendiri, orang tua yang salah tafsir terhadap penjelasan guru, situasi dan kondisi karakter siswa di rumah dan sekolah, dan 3) strategi yang dilakukanyaitu melakukan kordinasi dengan orang tua dan membuat catatan khusus perbaikan karakter siswa.Kata kunci: Budaya Sekolah, Implementasi, Pendidikan Karakte

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui budaya sekolah telah dilaksanakan dengan baik melalui kegiatan rutin dan terprogram, kegiatan spontan, kegiatan pemodelan atau keteladanan, dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dengan mengembangkan lima nilai yaitu nilai religius, nasionalis, integritas, mandiri, gotong royong;2) permasalahan yang ada yaitu dari siswa sendiri, orang tua yang salah tafsir terhadap penjelasan guru, situasi dan kondisi karakter siswa di rumah dan sekolah, dan 3) strategi yang dilakukanyaitu melakukan kordinasi dengan orang tua dan membuat catatan khusus perbaikan karakter siswa.Kata kunci: Budaya Sekolah, Implementasi, Pendidikan Karakte

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the role of the MIN 1 and MIN 2 principals of East Flores as managers, success supporting factors, the obstacles faced and the principal's efforts to overcome obstacles. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of research is descriptive. This research uses a multi-site study. Data obtained through interviews, observation, and study documentation. The results of this study indicate that the roles of the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 as managers are 1) Involving teachers and staff in managing school programs; 2) Conduct curriculum management; 3) Creating a conducive learning and achievement climate; 4) Include teachers in training to improve their competence; 5) Facilitating facilities and infrastructure supporting school activities; 6) Planning a budget; 7) Conduct student management activities; 8) Specifically assigning teachers to oversee the program, and 9) Conduct supervision. Internal factors that support the success of the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 East Flores as managers are the togetherness of the teachers to optimize their potential and the willingness to sincerely carry out the school programs that have been planned together. The external factor is the strong support of student guardians in the programs that have been run by schools. The internal obstacle faced by the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 East Flores as managers are the limited time for teachers to carry out or run the program to the maximum extent possible. The external obstacle is the student's guardian awareness of the school program. Efforts made by the heads of MIN 1 and MIN 2 East Flores as managers in improving the quality of schools to overcome internal and external problems are communicating to teachers to be more active in carrying out or carrying out planned programs.Keywords: Principal, Manager, Multisitus Study Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kepala sekolah MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer, faktor pendukung keberhasilan, kendala yang dihadapi dan upaya kepala sekolah mengatasi kendala. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi multisitus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa peran kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 sebagai manajer yaitu 1) Melibatkan guru dan pegawai dalam pengelolaan program sekolah; 2) Melakukan pengelolaan kurikulum; 3) Mewujudkan iklim belajar dan berprestasi yang kondusif; 4) Mengikutkan guru-guru dalam pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kompetensinya; 5) Memfasilitasi sarana dan prasarana pendukung kegiatan sekolah; 6) Merencanakan penganggaran; 7) Melakukan kegiatan pengelolaan kesiswaan; 8) Menugaskan secara khusus guru-guru untuk mengawal program, dan 9) Melakukan pengawasan. Faktor internal yang menjadi pendukung keberhasilan kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer adalah kebersamaan guru-guru untuk mengoptimalkan potensi yang dimiliki dan keinginnan yang ikhlas untuk mejalankan program sekolah yang telah direncankan bersama-sama. Faktor eksternalnya adalah dukungan wali murid yang kuat pada program yang telah dijalankan oleh sekolah. Kendala internal yang dihadapi kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer adalah keterbatasan waktu dari guru-guru untuk melakukan atau menjalankan program dengan semaksimal mungkin. Kendala eksternalnya adalah kesadaran wali murid akan program sekolah tersebut. Upaya yang dilakukan kepala MIN 1 dan MIN 2 Flores Timur sebagai manajer dalam meningkatkan mutu sekolah untuk mengatasi masalah internal dan eksternal adalah mengkomunikasikan kepada guru-guru untuk lebih aktif melakukan atau menjalankan program yang telah direncanakan.Kata kunci: Kepala Sekolah, Manajer, Studi Multisitus
