Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) melihat proses aplikasi task yang didisain berdasarkan skimata terhadap kemampuan berbicara; (2) melihat apakah ada perberdaan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan berbicara dan motivasi; dan (3) aspek apa saja kah dari kemampuan berbicara yang meningkat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan kepada mahasiswa. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan kuisioner, tes dan observasi. Kemudian data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1)setiap task memiliki tahapan aktivasi skimata yang berbeda; (2) semua task memberi pengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi dan kemampuan berbicara siswa; and (3) aktifasi skemata dengan menggunakan daftar kata paling meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Sesuai dengan temuan tersebut, disarankan agar pengajaran bahasa Inggris mempertimbangkan aktivasi schemata siswa dan kepada peneliti selanjutnya agar membahas lebih lanjut tentang setiap aspek kemampuan berbicara berbasis skemata.This study was aimed at (1) drawing the process of schemata based speaking task implementation in enhancing students speaking performance effectively;(2) seeing the tasks effect on students speaking performance and motivation; (3) determining which of the task effect the students speaking performance most. This research was conducted to tertiary level students. To collect the data, questionnaire, speaking test and observation were administered. The data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The result showed that (1)each task has different stages of schemata activation; (2) all of the tasks give significant effect on the students speaking performance and motivation; and (3) among the three tasks, schemata activation by providing word list enhances students speaking performance most. Based on the findings, it is suggested that English lecture should consider the students schemata activation since it may help the students to communicate by using English better. Further discussion on this issue migh focus on each aspect of speaking performance by providing sufficient data.Keywords: Motivation, schemata, speaking

Abstract

Abstrak. Berbicara merupakan aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh manusia untukberkomunikasi dan berinteraksi dengan orang lain. Siswa-siswi diharapkan agar mampu untuk mengekspresikan, berkomunikasi, dan memberikan informasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan yang signifikan yang statistic dalam kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah penerapan dari teknik retelling story menggunakan rangkaian gambar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa tingkat pertama SMAN 3 Bandar Lampung. Pre-tes dan pos-tes berbicara telah dilakukan untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya peningkatan yang signifikan secara statistik dalam kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah penerapan teknik retelling story menggunakan rangkaian gambar dangan tingkat signifikan 0.05. Ini menunjukan bahwa teknik retelling story menggunakan rangkaian gambar dapat membantu siswa menigkatkan kemampuan berbicara mereka. Abstract Speaking is an activity conducted by people to communicate and interact with other people in appropriate and correct situations. The students are expected to be able to express, communicate, and give information. This study, therefore, was aimed at finding out whether there was a statistically significant improvement of students speaking skill after the implementation of retelling story technique by using picture series. This research was a quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 30 students of the first year of SMAN 3 Bandar Lampung. Speaking tests in the forms of the pre-test and the post-test were done to collect the data. The results showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of the students speaking skill after the implementation of retelling story technique by using picture series with the significant level 0.05. This indicates that retelling story technique by using picture series helps students improve their speaking skill.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out whether there is a significant improvement in students' writing achievement of descriptive text because of using FRESH (Fact, Reason, Elaboration, and Shift) and to determine which aspect of writing improves the most. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMPN 32 Bekasi in the academic year 2021/2022. The sample of this research was class VII I which consisted of 29 students. This research was quantitative research by using One Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. The writing test was used as the instrument for pre-test and post-test. The data were taken from the test and they were analyzed by using Paired Sample T-test. The result of this research showed there is a significant improvement of students’ writing achievement of descriptive text after the implementation of FRESH since the value of the significant level was 0.00 that lower than 0.05. On the other hand, all aspects of writing improved regarding the results, but the organization was improved the most. Briefly, it could be concluded that FRESH enabled to improve the students’ writing achievement.Keywords: writing, descriptive text, FRESH technique

Abstract

The objectives of this research are 1) to find out the types of grammatical errors that XII MA Al-Fatah students encountered in their writing and 2) to find out the effect of teacher’s indirect corrective feedback on the students’ capability of grammar. The approach of this research was qualitative. There were 20 students of the third-grade chosen randomly. Writing test was used to collect the data. The result showed that the students made error in grammar mostly in misformation error as 38%. In addition, based on the result of the test analysis in the table Repeated Measure T-test, hypothesis is not accepted because the Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.874 0.05. It means that there was no effect in teacher’s indirect corrective feedback on the students’ capability of grammar, especially for the students of MA Al-Fatah Lampung. Keywords: writing, grammatical error, indirect corrective feedback, error analysis.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate whether there is any significant correlation between the students’ perception of suggestopedia principles and students’ vocabulary mastery. The population of this research was the first- and second-year students of SMP N 7 Metro in the academic year of 2021/2022. There are 60 students who were selected as research samples by using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire and vocabulary mastery test. This research applied the correlation study of ex facto design in which the results were analyzed by using SPSS. The result showed that there is any significant correlation between the students’ perception of suggestopedia principles and students’ vocabulary mastery since the coefficient correlation is 0.618 at the significant level of 0.01 and the coefficient correlation was higher than the critical value of r table (0.6180.325). It means that the null hypothesis was rejected and the research hypothesis was accepted. It could be concluded that the principles of suggestopedia in teaching vocabulary can accelerate students’ memorization ability, make students enjoy and relax in teaching based on suggestopedia principles.Keywords: Suggestopedia, Perception, Vocabulary

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not there was a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and students’ motivation. It was quantitative research. The researcher employed 30 students of SMPN 22 Bandar Lampung as the sample. The instruments of this research were motivation questionnaire and vocabulary test. The collected data were analysed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation in SPSS 24.0. The result showed that there is correlation between students’ motivation and students’ vocabulary mastery, with the score of the r table .640 this referring to medium correlation.
