Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan pada kemampuan siswa dalam pemahaman membaca setelah belajar menggunakan strategi PQRST. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini adalah 23 siswa tingkat kedua SMKI Assyaroniyyah Mataram Baru, Lampung Timur. Tes membaca, observasi dan wawancara digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa setelah implementasi strategi PQRST. Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunakan strategi PQRST dapat membantu siswa untuk menemukan infromasi pada teks dengan mudah.The aims of this study was to find out whether there was an improvement of students reading comprehension ability after the students were taught through PQRST strategy. This research was quantitative. The subjects were 23 students of the second grade of SMKI Assyaroniyyah Mataram Baru, East Lampung. Reading tests, observation, and an interview were used as the research instruments. The result of the research showed that there was an increase of students reading comprehension ability after the implementation of PQRST strategy. Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a statistically significant increase of students writing ability in recount texts after they were taught through clustering technique. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 31 students. The writing test was administrated as the instrument of the research. The data were analyzed by using t-test value with the significant level p0.05 through SPSS version 17.0. The result showed that there was a statistically significant increase of students writing ability. This suggests that teaching writing using clustering technique facilitates the students to develop the ideas easily.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti apakah ada peningkatan pada kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount setelah belajar melalui tehnik clustering. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 31 siswa. Tes menulis digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan t-test dengan tingkat signifikan level p0.05 menggunakan SPPS versi 17.0. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan secara statistik pada pencapaian menulis siswa. Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran menulis menggunakan tehnik clustering dapat membuat siswa terlibat kreatif dalam pembelajaran dan dapat membantu mengembangkan ide dengan mudah.Kata kunci: tehnik clustering, teks recount, menulis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara harga diri pelajar dengan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris mereka. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain Ex-post facto. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 28 murid kelas XI IPS 4 SMAN 1 Pringsewu. Kuisioner harga diri, dan tes menulis digunakan untuk mendapatkan data dalam penelitian ini. Kedua data tersebut dianalisa dengan menggunakan Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Hasil dari data analisis menunjukan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan secara statistic antara harga diri murid dengan kemampuan menulis mereka pada tingkat signifikansi 0.01. Ini menunjukan bahwa harga diri mempengaruhi proses dan hasil belajar murid yang mempelajari Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing.This study aimed at investigating the correlation between students self-esteem and their writing ability. The design was ex-post facto design. The subject of this research were 28 students of class XI IPS 4 of SMAN 1 Pringsewu. Self-esteem questionnaire and writing test were used to collect the data. The scores of the two tests were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The result showed that there was a statistically significant correlation between students self-esteem and their writing ability with the significant level 0.01. It indicates that students self-esteem influences EFL students learning process and outcomes.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui aspek apakah yang paling meningkat setelah diajar dengan menggunakan materi autentik dan (2) untuk melihat masalah apa yang dihadapi siswa di dalam penerapan materi autentik dalam pelajaran membaca. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di SMKN 1 Metro. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswa kelas XI AP2 dari SMKN 1 Metro terdiri dari 25 siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan menggunakan desain one group pre test post test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa referensi adalah aspek membaca yang paling meningkat dan masalah yang dihadapi siswa adalah sulit untuk memahami arti kata dan sebagian siswa mempunyai masalah di dalam pengucapan. Hal ini dapat dilihat hasil rata-rata pre test ke post test adalah 20.4 di pre test dan meningkat ke 24.24 di post test. The objectives of this research are (1) to find out which aspect of reading is mostly improved after being taught using authentic material and (2) to see what problem that are faced by students in the implementation of teaching reading using authentic material. This research was conducted at SMKN 1 Metro. The subject of this research was the students of class XI AP2 of SMKN 1 Metro consisting of 25 students. This research was quantitative and qualitative research which used one group pre test post test design. The result of the research showed that reference were the reading aspect that mostly improved and the problems the students faced difficult to understand the meaning of the words and some of students have problem in pronunciation. It could be seen from the result of mean score from the pre test to post test which was 20.4 in the pre test and increased to 24.24 in the post test. Keywords: authentic material, reading

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa setelah diajarkan melalui information gap technique. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain one group pretest dan posttest. Tes membaca digunakan untuk pengambilan data. Data ini di analisis menggunakan repeated measured T-test. Subyek penelitian ini 30 siswa dari kelas dua pada SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan antara pretest dan posttest. Dengan level signifikan adalah p0.05 (p=0.000). Dari hasil yang didapat, disimpulkan bahwa information gap technique memberi kesempatan kepada siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca mereka.The aims of the research were to find out the improvement of students’ reading comprehension  after they were through by information gap technique. The research used one group pretest and posttest design. The reading test was used to collect the data. The datas were analyzed by using repeated measured T-test. The subjects of this study were 30 students from second grade students of SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of the students’ mean score between the pretest and the posttest with significant level p0.05 (p=0.000). This suggests that information gap technique facilities the student to improve their reading comprehension achievement.Keywords: improve, information gap technique, reading comprehension

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan pada kemampuan kosa kata siswa setelah penerapan teknik pictionary game. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 17 siswa tingkat pertama SMPN 1 Way Tuba. Test kosa kata digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya peningkatan kemampuan kosa kata siswa setelah penerapan teknik pictionary game. Dengan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik pictionary game dapat membantu siswa mengingat kosa kata dengan lebih mudah dengan cara menebak kata melalui gambar.This study was aimed at finding out whether there was an improvement of students vocabulary achievement after the implementation of pictionary game technique. This research was quantitative. The subjects of this research were 17 students at the first year of SMPN 1 Way Tuba. A vocabulary test was administered as the instrument of this research. The result showed that there was an improvement of students vocabulary achievement after the implementation of pictionary game technique. This suggests that pictionary game technique facilitates the students to acquire the vocabulary more easily.Keywords: game, pictionary, vocabulary.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui i) keinginan siswa untuk berkomunikasi dan ii) hubungan antara kepercayaan akan kompetensi diri, kekhawatiran dalam berkomunikasi, motivasi, dan keinginan untuk berkomunikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu 224 siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung. Kuesioner self-report digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data mengenai komunikasi dan motivasi para siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki tingkat keinginan untuk berkomunikasi yang tidak terlalu rendah atau tinggi. Selain itu, terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara variabel kepercayaan akan kompetensi diri, kekhawatiran dalam berkomunikasi, dan keinginan untuk berkomunikasi, kecuali motivasi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi para siswa percaya terhadap kompetensi dirinya, semakin rendah kekhawatiran yang mereka alami.The aims of this study were to explore i) the students willingness to communicate and ii) the correlation among self-perceived communication competence, communication apprehension, motivation, and willingness to communicate. The research used quantitative method. The subjects were 224 second year science class students of SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung. Self-report questionnaires were employed to collect the data of the students communication and motivational orientations. The results showed that the students had moderate willingness to communicate in English. Moreover, there was a statistically significant correlation between self-perceived communication competence, communication apprehension, and willingness to communicate, but motivation.
