Abstract

The objective of the research is to investigate the rate of media-literacy of certified elementary school teachers in Bandar Lampung City. The method of the research is quantitative. The data were collected by means of questionnaire and test based on individual competence framework. The sample was 230 teachers selected by means of random sampling technique, that is, 10% out of 2300 teachers. The rate of media-literacy of certified elementary school teachers in Bandar Lampung City was found to be at the basic level because the score was under 70. The teachers’ ability to operate media was not high enough, their ability to analyze the content of the media was not high, and their ability to communicate by means of media was also very limited.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan pada kemampuan siswa dalam pemahaman membaca setelah belajar menggunakan strategi PQRST. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini adalah 23 siswa tingkat kedua SMKI Assyaroniyyah Mataram Baru, Lampung Timur. Tes membaca, observasi dan wawancara digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa setelah implementasi strategi PQRST. Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunakan strategi PQRST dapat membantu siswa untuk menemukan infromasi pada teks dengan mudah.The aims of this study was to find out whether there was an improvement of students reading comprehension ability after the students were taught through PQRST strategy. This research was quantitative. The subjects were 23 students of the second grade of SMKI Assyaroniyyah Mataram Baru, East Lampung. Reading tests, observation, and an interview were used as the research instruments. The result of the research showed that there was an increase of students reading comprehension ability after the implementation of PQRST strategy. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan pada kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks narrative setelah belajar menggunakan teknik CIRC. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini adalah 34 siswa tahun kedua di SMPN 7 Bandar Lampung. Tes membaca digunakan sebagai alat untuk mengambil data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pada kemampuan membaca siswa setelah implementasi teknik CIRC dengan tingkat signifikasi p0.05 (p=0.00). Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunakan teknik CIRC dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan mereka dalam membaca.The objectives of this study were to find out whether there was a statistically significant improvement of the students reading of narrative texts after the implementation of CIRC technique. This research was quantitative. The subjects of this research were 34 students of the second grade of SMPN 7 Bandar Lampung. The reading test was used as the research instrument to gain the data. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of students reading achievement of narrative texts after the implementation of CIRC technique with the significant level of p0.05 (p=0.00). This suggests that reading through CIRC facilitates the students to improve their reading ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti apakah ada peningkatan pada kemampuan siswa dalam kemampuan pemahaman membaca stelah belajar melalui stategi story mapping. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini sebanyak 32 siswa. Tes membaca, observasi dan wawancara digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Analisis data menggunakan paired sample test. Hasil menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan secara statistik pada pencapaian kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa dengan tingkat signifikan 0.000.05. Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunakan strategi story mapping dapat membuat siswa aktif dan kreatif dalam pembelajaran dan dapat membantu siswa menemukan informasi yang terdapat di dalam teks dengan mudah.The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a statistically significant improvement of the students reading comprehension ability after they were taught through story mapping strategy. Abstract

The objectives of this research was to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students’ reading comprehension ability of narrative texts after the students were taught through CSR strategy and  also to find out which aspect of reading comprehension improves the most after CSR was implemented in teaching reading at the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Terbanggi Besar . This research was a quantitative research and the method was one group pre-test and post-test design. In pre-test students mean score was 52.17 while in post-test it increase to 76.15; the gain obtained in pre-test to post-test  was 23.98. The subjects of the research were 26 students at the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Terbanggi Besar . The reading comprehension test was used as the research instrument. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-test. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference of students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari korelasi antara motivasi siswa dalam belajar dan prestasi mereka dalam berbicara. Peneliti menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan menggunakan metode yang lebih khusus yakni Pearson-product moment correlation coefficient. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa korelasi antara dua variabel yang disebutkan adalah 0,622. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa korelasi antara keduanya bernilai signifikan. Untuk nilai regresi, hasil dari pengolahan data menunjukkan angka 0,387. Hasil ini menjelaskan bahwa motivasi mempengaruhi prestasi siswa dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris sebanyak 38,7%. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa motivasi telah mempengaruhi tingkah laku siswa dalam belajar, mengubah pola belajar kognitif siswa dan membuat siswa fokus dalam mencapai tujuan mereka. Siswa yang termotivasi mengatasi rintangan yang datang kepada mereka dengan kekuatan yang kuat dari dalam diri mereka. Selain itu, siswa yang termotivasi sering mendapat hasil yang baik karena motivasi meningkatkan penampilan mereka dalam mencapai tujuan belajar mereka.This research was aimed at investigating the correlation between students motivation in learning English and their speaking ability. The researcher used quantitative method and more specifically the researcher used Pearson-product moment correlation coefficient. The result of this research showed that the correlation between both variables was 0.622. It means that the correlation between both variables was significantly correlated. For the contribution, the students motivation contribution toward their English speaking ability was 0.387. It means that the motivation contributed on the students English speaking ability for 38.7%. The researcher concluded that the motivation directed students behavior in learning, changing the cognitive processes in learning and making the students focus on reaching their goals. Motivated students overcome obstacles which come to them with strongly powerful from inside. Moreover, motivated students often got best result because motivation improved their performance to achieve their goals.Keywords: correlation, English speaking ability, motivation.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan adakah peningkatan pencapaian pemahaman membaca siswa setelah diajari penggunaan teknik Jigsaw. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena nilai siswa masih rendah pada tes pemahaman membaca. Data diperoleh dari nilai Pretest-postest dan kuestioner. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan T-test melalui SPSS versi 17.0. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest siswa di kelas eksperimen (68,47) lebih besar dari nilai rata-rata pretest siswa (57.41) dengan peningkatan nilai 11.06. Berdasarkan data analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan pencapaian dalam pemahaman membaca siswa setelah diajakan dengan menggunakan teknik Jigsaw.The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an increase of the students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught using Jigsaw technique. This study was done based on the consideration that students still got low scores in reading comprehension test. The data were collected by employing Pretest-posttest items and questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Repeated Measure T-Test with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 17.0. The result shows that the students’ mean score of posttest in experimental class (68.47) is higher than that in the pretest (57. 41) with the 11.06 gained score. It is concluded that there is an increase in students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught using Jigsaw technique.Keywords: jigsaw technique, reading comprehension, students’ achievement.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan yang signifikan dari kemampuan menulis teks prosedur siswa setelah diajar menggunakan video. Sasaran penelitian ini mencakup 33 siswa kelas XII-IPA 1 di SMAN 1 Ambarawa. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk mengumpukan data adalah tes menulis yang terdiri dari pretest dan posttest. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa di pretest adalah 69.73 dan di posttest adalah 80.36. Aspek yang paling meningkat adalah konten dari 20.23 menjadi 23.71. Diikiuti oleh organisasi yang meningkat dari 16.79 menjadi 19.18, struktur meningkat dari 14.18 menjadi 16.30, kosa-kata meningkat dari 14.98 menjadi 19.18, dan mekanik meningkat dari 3.55 menjadi 4.30. Hal ini dibuktikan melalui hasil dari Paired Sample T-test, yang menyatakan bahwa hasil tes tersebut adalah signifkan, karena p0.05. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa video dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks prosedur siswa. The aim of this research was to find out whether there was any significant improvement of students’ procedure text writing ability after the students were taught through video. The subjects of the research were 33 students of class XII Science 1 at SMAN 1 Ambarawa. The instrument was used to gather the data was writing test (pretest and posttest). The result of this research showed that the students’ mean score in the pretest was 69.73 and in the posttest was 80.36. The highest improvement was content from 20.23 up to 23.71. It was followed by organization from 16.79 up to 19.18, grammar from 14.18 up to 16.30, vocabulary from 14.98 up to 16.86 and mechanic from 3.55 up to 4.30. It was proven by the result of Paired Sample T-test, which showed those results were significant because p0.05. It could be concluded that video could be used to improve students’ writing procedure text ability. Keywords: Video, writing, procedure text, improvement.
