Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi hubungan antara kebiasaan siswa dalam menonton film berbahasa Inggris dengan penguasaan kosa kata. Subyek penelitian ini sebanyak 30 siswa pada kelas Frontrunner di English First (EF) Bandar Lampung. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner dan vocabulary size test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai korelasi antara kedua variabel adalah 0.3 dan nilai pengaruhnya adalah 0.554. Lebih jauh, ditemukan data bahwa faktor frekuensi dan tingkah laku mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan siswa yang mendapat skor tinggi dan sedang pada tes kosa kata, sementara itu pengulangan adalah faktor yang digunakan oleh sebagian besar siswa yang mendapat skor kosa kata rendah. Berdasarkan pada hasil, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan antara kebiasaan siswa dalam menonton film berbahasa Inggris dan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris.The objective of this research was to investigate the correlation between students' habit in watching English movie and their vocabulary size. The subjects were 30 students in Frontrunner class of English First (EF) Bandar Lampung. The data collecting techniques used were questionnaire and vocabulary size test. The results showed that the correlation between the two variables was 0.3 and the value of X toward Y was 0.554. Furthermore, it was found that the frequency factor had a significant correlation with the students who got high and moderate score on vocabulary size test, while the repetition was the strategy used by the majority of students who got low score on vocabulary size test. Based on the result, it could be concluded that there was significant correlation between students' watching English movie habit and their vocabulary size.Keywords: correlation, habit, vocabulary size, english movie.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan apakah ada perbedaan pada kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah diajarkan menggunakan teknik fishbowl. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 38 siswa pada kelas delapan SMP N 2 Jati Agung, Lampung Selatan. Test berbicara digunakan untuk pengambilan data. Hasil menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada pencapaian kemampuan berbicara siswa sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan teknik fishbowl dengan tingkat signifikansi p0.05 (p=.000). Hal ini menandakan bahwa teknik fishbowl dapat membantu siswa untuk lebih percaya diri dalam berbicara bahasa inggris.The aim of this study was to find out whether there was significant difference on students speaking ability after the students were taught through fishbowl technique. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 38 students of the second grade in SMP N 2 Jati Agung, South Lampung. The speaking test was used to collect the data. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference of the students speaking ability before and after the implementation of fishbowl technique with the significant level p0.05 (p=.000). This suggests that teaching speaking through fishbowl technique facilitates the students to speak English in the class and to be more confident.Keywords: fishbowl technique, speaking ability, teaching speaking.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah i) untuk melihat peningkatan dari aspek berbicara siswa dan ii) hubungan yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri siswa dan prestasi mereka di dalam berbicara . Peneliti menggunakan desain t-test dan kuesioner didalam mengu mpulkan data siswa. Hasil dari penelitian in i menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan didalam prestasi siswa setelah diajar menggunakan teknik self-d irected dialogue dan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri siswa dan prestasi mereka didalam berb icara. Penelit ian in i menunju kkan bahwa teknik self-directed dialogue membantu dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.The purpose of this study was to investigate i) the improvement of students achievement of speaking and ii) the relationship between s elf-confidence and the students achievement in speaking. Speaking tests and questionnaire were used to collect the data in this study. Abstract

Penelitian ini di lakukan berdasarkan permasalahan yaitu kurangnya kemampuan berbicara siswa terkhusus berbagi gagasan satu sama yang lain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk menemukan apakah adanya pengaruh kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah mengajar lagu bahasa Inggris. (2) untuk menemukan adakah permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh siswa. (3) untuk menemukan aspek berbicara yang mana yang meningkat. Metode yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah time siries disain. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu,  post test 1 nilai tengah nya adalah 53.65 di mana posttest 2 meningkat menjadi 66.67 dengan nilai tengah 12.52 dan di post test 3 meningkat menjadi 81.40, dengan nilai tengah 15.2. Berdasarkan hasil dalam setiap post test dapat di katakan bahwa penggunakan lagu bahasa inggris dalam pembelaaran bahasa Inggris memiliki pengaruh yang baik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. This research was conducted based on the problem faced by the students that is the students have the low speaking to share their ideas in English speaking communicatively.The objectives of the research are (1) to find out wheter there is effect of students speaking achievement after being taught by using English song in pair work activity (2) to find out there is problem encountered by students in implementing this media (3) to find out which aspects of speaking are increase the students speaking achievement. The method used in this research was time series design. The result of this research, in post test 1students mean score is 53.65 while in posttest 2 it increse to 66.17; the gain is 12.52 and in the posttest 3 it increase to 81.40 ; the gain is 15.23. Based on the result of the every post test, it can be concluded that song in a pair work activity has a good effect to increase the students’ speaking achievement.Keywords: effect, English song, pair work, speaking achievement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan dalam kemampuan pemahaman membaca setelah belajar dengan menggunakan teknik think pair share. Penelitian ini adalah desain kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini sebanyak 30 siswa. Tes membaca digunaan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Hasil menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.000.05. Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunaan teknik think pair share dapat membantu siswa untuk menemukan informasi pada teks dengan mudah.The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a statistically significant improvement of students reading comprehension ability after they were taught through think pair share technique. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 30 students. The reading test was administrated as the instrument of this research. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of the students reading comprehension ability at the significant level 0.000.05. This suggests that reading through think pair share technique facilitates the students to find information of the text easily.Keywords: think-pair-share technique, reading comprehension, narrative text.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan adakah peningkatan pencapaian pemahaman membaca siswa setelah diajari penggunaan teknik Jigsaw. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena nilai siswa masih rendah pada tes pemahaman membaca. Data diperoleh dari nilai Pretest-postest dan kuestioner. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan T-test melalui SPSS versi 17.0. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest siswa di kelas eksperimen (68,47) lebih besar dari nilai rata-rata pretest siswa (57.41) dengan peningkatan nilai 11.06. Berdasarkan data analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan pencapaian dalam pemahaman membaca siswa setelah diajakan dengan menggunakan teknik Jigsaw.The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an increase of the students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught using Jigsaw technique. This study was done based on the consideration that students still got low scores in reading comprehension test. The data were collected by employing Pretest-posttest items and questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Repeated Measure T-Test with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 17.0. The result shows that the students’ mean score of posttest in experimental class (68.47) is higher than that in the pretest (57. 41) with the 11.06 gained score. It is concluded that there is an increase in students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught using Jigsaw technique.Keywords: jigsaw technique, reading comprehension, students’ achievement.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada efek dari penerapan teknik self-directed dialogue pada i) peningkatan aspek berbicara siswa dan ii) hubungan yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dan pencapaian berbicara siswa pada siswa tingkat kedua di SMP Negeri 1 Kalirejo Lampung Tengah. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa tingkat kedua SMP Negeri 1 Kalirejo Lampung Tengah. Peneliti menggunakan desain t-test dan kuesioner untuk mengumpulkan data siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan didalam prestasi siswa setelah diajar menggunakan teknik self-directed dialogue dan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri siswa dan prestasi mereka didalam berbicara. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan kosa kata siswa setelah mereka diajarkan menggunakan film. One group pretest dan posttest design adalah design yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Ada peningkatan yang signifikan dalam penguasaan kosakata siswa setelah diajarkan dengan menggunakan film siswa kelas satu di SMAN 1 Way Jepara Lampung Timur0.05. Ini menunjukkan bahwa film memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata mereka. Hasil selanjutnya menunjukkan bahwa noun adalah tipe yang paling meningkat setelah mengimplementasikan film.This research is used to find out wheather there is any improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement after they are taught using movie. A one group pretest and posttest design was used in this research. The data were collected from a pre-test and a post-test.  The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Way Jepara Lampung Timur with the subjects of the first grade students. The result showed that there is a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after that students should had been taught by using movie, since ρ0.05. The second finding reveals thatnoun was the type which improved the most after the students had been taught through movie. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan pada penguasaan siswa dalam kosakata setelah penerapan flashcard sebagai media dalam pembelajaran kosakata. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ekperimen. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa kelas VIII A di SMPN 31 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Tes kosakata dalam bentuk pilihan ganda dengan 40 soal dilakukan sebagai alat dalam pengumpulan data. Tes tersebut diberikan untuk melihat sejauh mana peningkatan siswa dalam pencapaian kosakata setelah diadakan perlakuan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan paired sample t-test dengan tingkat p0.05 menggunakan SPSS versi 16.0. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada pencapaian kosakata siswa. Hal ini menandakan bahwa pembelajaran kosakata menggunakan flashcard dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan pencapaian kosakata siswa. The aim of this study was to find out whether there is an improvement of the students’ vocabulary achievement after the implementation of flashcard as a media in teaching vocabulary. This research was an experimental study. The subjects of this research were 32 students of class VIII A at SMPN 31 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2018/2019. The vocabulary test in form of multiple choice with 40 items was administered in collecting the data. The test was given to see how far the improvement of the students vocabulary achievement after the treatment. The data was analyzed by using paired sample t-test with the significant level p0.05 through SPSS version 16.0. The result reveals that there is an improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement. This suggests that teaching vocabulary using flashcard facilitates the students to improve their vocabulary achievement. Keywords: teaching vocabulary, flashcard, vocabulary achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknik outlining dalam kegiatan menulis teks recount dapat meningkatkan pencapaian menulis siswa dan untuk mengetahui aspek apa dalam writing yang paling meningkat setelah pengajaran menggunakan teknik outlining. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah 25 siswa kelas 2 SMP N 1 Katibung, Lampung Selatan tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini menggunakan metode one-group pretest and posttest dan dianalasis menggunakan formula Repeated Measure Test di software SPSS versi 16.0. Dari lima aspek dalam menulis, aspek yang paling meningkat adalah aspek konten, dengan nilai rata-rata 16.88 menjadi 24.68 yang mana meningkat sebesar 7.8. Terakhir, berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik outlining strategy meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa dalam menulis teks recount dan rumusan masalah di penelitian ini telah terjawab. This research was done to find out whether the use of outlining strategy in writing recount text can improve students’ writing achievement and to investigate what aspect of writing improve the most after being taught by outlining strategy. The subjects of this research were 25 students of the second grade students of SMPN 1 Katibung in academic year 2018/2019. Furthermore, this research employed one group pretest and posttest design as the research method and were analysed using Repeated Measure Test in SPSS version 16.0. From each aspects of writing, the aspect that improve the most was content from 16.88 to 24.68 which means the score improved about 7.8. At last, according to the research that have held, it can be concluded that outlining strategy improve students’ writing achievement and the research questions of this research were being answer clearly.
