Abstract

Abstract

Good quality children are closely related to optimal growth and development, especially in the three first years of life (toddler). The Covid-19 pandemic condition affects the level of parental visits to health facilities, thereby reducing the frequency of monitoring of child development by health workers. This condition increases the risk of delaying the discovery of a child's developmental disorder. Or community service activity is carried out to increase parental participation in screening and stimulating child development independently. The activity was carried out at the Delima Posyandu (Pos Pelayanan Terpadu) in the Puskesmas Gribig, area of Malang City in October 2021. The children involved in this activity were 12-36 months old, accompanied by parents or primary caregivers, and in healthy condition. Children suffering from acute illnesses such as fever, cough, diarrhea were not included in this activity. The activities consist of screening children's development with the Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) instrument and providing education with booklet media to parents on how to screen and stimulate development independently. Education was conducted on 24 parents individually and the results of developmental examinations showed that the majority of children had normal development or appropriate with their age, but more than a third of children had a doubt and delayed development. These results need to be a concern for health workers and “kader” to monitor the development of children in the area, especially those who have been detected had a doubt and delayed development

Abstract

The high number of COVID-19 cases was not balanced by the number of nurses assigned to the Covid isolation room with limited PPE availability. This causes many of the duties of nurses, especially health education, could not be performed completely. Thus, it is necessary to renew the Discharge Planning procedure for Covid 19 patients according to the characteristics of Covid-19 transmission. The purpose of this community service is to increase the effectiveness of the discharge planning for the COVID-19 patients to improve self-care and prevent infection transmission at home. This community service activity consists of 4 (four) stages, namely: 1) Preparation stage for coordination with the hospital; 2) Application development phase, consisting of application design, collection of educational media; 3) Implementation, launching and socialization of applications in the hospital environment; 4) Evaluation and monitoring stage. The results of the evaluation showed that as many as 58.7% of patients had used the CNA. About 62.7% patients experience an increase of their knowledge after accessing the CNA. There were 61.6% patients stated that the CNA had increased their knowledge on home care procedure post-Covid treatment. There are 62.3% of patients feel that the CNA supports patient care at home. The benefits of the CNA were expressed by 82 patients (87.2%) with increased self-care and as many as 76 patients (80.9%) stated that the CNA educational media was more attractive and easy to understand. The conclusion of this activity is that the CNA application can be implemented as a medium of health education for patients and families to improve their ability to take care of themselves.

Abstract

Self-care management is an important component in the management of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DMT2). Knowledge, self-efficacy, and compliance in self-care are the main factors to improving quality of life and preventing complications. Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) in support groups was used in community nursing interventions to improve diabetes self-care management. This study used a one-group pre-post design with t-test analysis to determine the ability of self-management levels and blood sugar values of the group with diabetes before and after the intervention. The instrument used was the Diabetes Self Care Management Questionnaire (DSMQ). Diabetes Mellitus patients received DSME intervention for two months. The number of samplings in this study was 49 people with diabetes. The findings show that in intervention groups, self-care improves, and blood sugar levels fall. There were significant changes in the diabetics' group (n = 48) before and after the intervention on self-care and blood glucose levels (p = 0.000 and p = 0.011). We suggest that the DSME might be given to the diabetes group by nurses as one of the strategies for implementing health education in the public health care program (PERKESMAS).

Abstract

Dietary compliance in diabetes patients is vital to developing good outcomes for better health. One of the biggest problems in managing diet for patients is feeling bored and pressured with the menu that has been provided. The impact is that they show unwillingness and inability to follow a diet program. Adherence to this diet emphasizes the role and self-efficacy that requires awareness and intention from people who manage diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and dietary compliance in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 at the Gumawang Primary Health Center, East OKU district. This study used a cross-sectional approach with 53 respondents. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data collection using research instruments in two questionnaires, namely the Diabetes Management Self Efficacy Scale (DMSES) and Dietary Compliance by Haryono modified by Permatasari (2014). The results of the univariate analysis showed that self-efficacy was in the reasonably good category and diet compliance was in the good category. Based on bivariate analysis, it is known that the p-value is 0.000 <0.005 with a correlation coefficient of 0.773, which means that there is a solid significant correlation between the self-efficacy variable and dietary compliance. It is recommended to create a program to improve patient self-efficacy, one of which is to create a Self-Help Group program for patients with Diabetes Mellitus.
