Abstract

Staphylococcus epidermidis is one of the bacteria that can cause infectious diseases. In general Staphylococcus epidermidis can cause diseases of swelling (abscess) such as skin infections or acne. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii [Ness.] BI) leaf extract has a substance which gives antimicrobial effects that can be used as an inhibitor of the Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria’s growth because it contains substances such as essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids. The aim of this research is to analyse the effect of the concentration of cinnamon leaf extract and to determine the concentration of extract which has the best influence to the inhibition zone diameter of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. This research was conducted in Biology Laboratory of University of Muhammadiyah Malang, on 17-18 May 2017. The results showed that there was an effect of giving various concentrations of cinnamon leaf extract to the inhibition zone diameter of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria’s growth. The concentration of cinnamon leaf extract which has the best influence to the inhibitory zone diameter of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria is 100% with the mean of inhibitory zone diameter 15.16 mm.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa melalui kegiatan lesson study  serta menemukan Best Practices pembelajaran melalui pelaksanaan lesson study. Metode penelitian ini adalah diskriptif dengan menerapkan  lesson study dengan langkah Plan-Do-See (4 Siklus). Lesson Study dilakukan oleh kelompok dosen Prodi Pendidikan Biologi UMM, pada matakuliah Mikrotehnik dan Embriologi dengan menerapkan pembelajaran proyek dan Two Stay Three Stray pada mahasiswa Semester VI Angkatan 2011. Subyek penelitian mahasiswa program studi pendidikan biologi sem  VI yang berjumlah 30 orang pada tahun ajaran 2013-2014 yang menempuh matakuliah mikroteknik dan embriologi. Parameter kemampuan berfikir kritis meliputi:kejelasan (clarity), tingkat akurasi (accuracy) presisi (precision), relevansi (relevance), logika berpikir yang digunakan (logic), keluasan sudut pandang (breadth) kedalaman berpikir (depth), kejujuran (honesty)tetap, kelengkapan informasi information) dan bagaimana implikasi dari solusi yang dikemukakan (implication).Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penerapan pembelajaran proyek pada matakuliah Mikroteknik dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berfikir kritis sebesar 18,5%. Sedangkan penerapan pembelajaran Two Stay Three Stray pada matakuliah Embriologi dapat meningkatkan berfikir kritis sebesar 15%. Best practices Kegiatan Lesson Study di Prodi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang adalah adanya kekompakan dan semangat kerja tim dosen dan mahasiswa dalam pemecahan masalah pada matakuliah Mikroteknik dan Embriologi, serta adanya perubahan paradigma pada diri dosen dari teaching menjadi learning. Kata kunci: Lesson study, Kemampuan berfikir kritis, Pembelajaran inovatif  (Pembelajaran Proyek, Two Stay-Two Stray)

Abstract

The main task of the teacher in the learning process is to lead participants to achieve their learning goals. Thus, teachers are required to always improve the quality of their learning, one of which is through the Lesson Study Learning Community (LS-LC). The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of the Lesson Study Learning Community in SD (Sekolah Dasar-Primary School) Junrejo I, in “the 24-hour clock” material. This qualitative research employed a single case study and explained it naturally. The respondents were one teacher and 28-second graders. There were three stages in the implementation of lesson study, namely: plan, do and see. The data collection technique were using documentation and unstructured interview. The data were analyzed in a quantitative and qualitative description. The findings in the planned activity were the collaboration of teachers and lecturers in innovating and creating chapter and lesson design of “the 24-hour clock” material, considering the characteristic of students. In the open class (do the activity), the students were conducting discussions and observations. During learning, the students were comparing digital and non-digital clocks while lecturers and teachers were observing the learning process. In the seen activity, the observation result from teachers and lecturers were revealed. The implementation of Lesson Study Learning Community in grade II SD Junrejo I, on the material "24 hour time" had been going well. But the results shown that students were able to understand the material as much as 60%, students were able to collaborate in groups 45%, student’s expression was happy, excited, motivating, and cheerful, as much as 90%. Abstract

Hasil belajar dan keaktifan kelompok siswa pada mata pelajaran Biologi masih tergolong rendah. Hal ini disebabkan pembelajaran belum terpusat pada siswa dan kurang memberikan ruang partisipasi aktif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mendeskripsikan penggunaan TSTS pada pembelajaran Biologi di Kelas XI-IPA, (2) mendeskripsikan keaktifan kelompok dan hasil belajar pada pembelajaran Biologi dengan menggunakan TSTS Biologi di Kelas XI-IPA. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kemmis dan McTaggart, terdiri dari 2 siklus dengan tahapan setiap siklus adalah perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi, materi system peredaran darah. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA-5 yang berjumlah 32 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan obeservasi, tes formatif dan data dianalisis analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengguna metode TSTS membuat siswa aktif dalam pembelajaran serta mampu memahami konsep tentang sistem peredaran darah. Peningkatan persentase ketuntasan kelas siklus 1 (71,87%) ke siklus 2 (96,87%) sebesar 25%, persentase rata-rata nilai siswa siklus 1 (78,75%) ke siklus 2 (96,87%) sebesar 18,12% dan persentase rata-rata nilai diskusi kelompok siklus 1 (75,00%) ke siklus 2 (85,93%) sebesar 10,93%. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Cooperative learning two stay two stray dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keaktifan siswa pada materi sistem sirkulasi darah. Kata kunci: hasil belajar, keaktifan, two stay two stray. ABSTRACT The learning outcomes and the activeness of student groups in Biology are considered as a low category. The case happened because learning has not been centered on students and does not provide the opportunity for student active participation. This research aimed: (1) to describe the use of TSTS in Biology learning in Class XI-IPA, (2) to describe group activity and learning outcomes in Biology learning using Biology TSTS in Class XI-IPA. This research employed a Classroom Action Research model of Kemmis and McTaggart, consisting of 2 cycles with the stages of each cycle being planning, implementing the action, observing and reflecting, and circulatory system material. The research used 32 students of class XI IPA-5 as the research subjects and employed data collection techniques by using observation, formative tests. The data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis in percentages. The results showed that the application of the TSTS method resulted in students active in learning and was able to understand the concept of the circulatory system. The increase in the percentage of class completeness in cycle 1 (71.87%) to cycle 2 (96.87%) was 25%, the average percentage of student scores from cycle 1 (78.75%) to cycle 2 (96.87%) was 18,12% and the average percentage value of the discussion groups from cycle 1 (75.00%) to cycle 2 (85.93%) was 10.93%. The conclusion of the research shows that the Two Stay Two Stray Cooperative Learning model can improve learning outcomes and student activity in the blood circulation system material. Abstract

Lesson study builds a learning community among teachers, students, academics, and education observers. Transcript Based Learning Analysis (TBLA) model is among the models used to analyze learning transcripts more thoroughly. This study aims to describe the patterns of lesson study in science learning through TBLA analysis. Descriptive qualitative approach was employed to describe these phenomena. The study site was SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Batu. The subjects were 8th graders studying about Plant Tissue; through plan, do, see cycle. The research instruments were video and audio recorders, and field notes. The data collection is carried out through documentation, observation and discussion. The collected data was in the forms of transcripts of Lesson Study. The data was analyzed through the TBLA analysis model. Results describe the conversations between teachers and students, in which 43 teacher-student conversations with linear patterned learning were categorized as Student Center Learning. It is implied that in learning about plant tissue, linear pattern communication helped students to achieve learning objectives as they underwent student-centered learning. Results of this study suggest a reference for reflection in teacher professional learning to carry out effective learning.

Abstract

Chitosan merupakan turunan kitin yang terbentuk dari proses deasetilasi yang bisa digunakan sebagai bahan pengawet alami yang efektif dan memiliki aktivitas antimikroba.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kandungan vitamin C, pH dan berat dalam buah jeruk, strowberi, dan pisang yang diawetkan dengan chitosan cangkang keong mas selama proses penyimpanan danuntuk mengetahui berapakah konsentrasi chitosan cangkang keong mas yang paling efektif sebagai bahan pengawet buah. Penelitian merupakan True Experimental Research yang dilaksanakan di Laboratorium KimiaUniversitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan pada jeruk, strowberi dan pisang yaitu konsentrasi chitosan 1,5%, 2%, 2,5%, 3% dan 3,5%. Analisis data menggunakan analisis Blok Acak dan uji beda jarak nyata Duncan pada taraf signifikansi 0,05.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh terhadap buah. Perubahan kandungan vitamin C dan berat paling kecil terjadi pada perlakuan 2,5% dan paling besar pada perlakuan kontrol. Pemberian konsentrasi chitosan cangkang keong mas2,5% yang paling efektif mempengaruhi kandungan vitamin C dan berat buah jeruk, strowberi dan pisang. Hasil penelitian diaplikasikan sebagai media audio visual dalam pembelajaran Bioteknologi

Abstract

Anggrek genus Dendrobium merupakan salah satu genus dari divisi spermatophyta yang merupakan kelompok tumbuhan yang berkembang dengan menggunakan biji. Tumbuhan berbiji tentu memiliki bunga sebagai alat perkembangan generatifnya. Perkembangan generatif pada bunga artinya pertemuan antara sel gamet jantan dan sel gamet betina. Sel gamet betina pada tumbuhan dihasilkan oleh putik, sedangkan sel gamet jantan disebut serbuk sari atau pollen. Genus Dendrobium merupakan salah satu kekayaan alam Indonesia, jumlahnya diperkirakan mencapai 275 spesies. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana ultrastruktur pollen anggrek genus Dendrobium dari sepuluh spesies yang diamati menggunakan SEM. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan unit pollen untuk semua spesies yaitu kategori pollinia, sedangkan untuk polaritas pollen adalah apolar. Jenis aperture kesepuluh spesies yang diamati mempunyai aperture dengan pola yang tidak beraturan dan lebih dari enam yang disebut colpate. Bentuk pollen dari semua spesies yang diteliti bentuknya adalah subprolate hingga prolate dan ukuran pollen termasuk dalam kategori minuta hingga media. Ornamentasi pollen atau skluptur pollen tidak teridentifikasi dikarenakan ukuran pollen yang terlalu kecil, permukaan pollen terlihat kurang jelas. Sumber belajar yang digunakan adalah atlas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the level of economy, effectiveness, and efficiency of local tax financial performance in Ponorogo Regency. The object of this research is Ponorogo Regency. This research uses a descriptive method. Data collection techniques through documentation which can be done by re-recording, photographing, photocopying or buying. The type of data used is in the form of government published financial reports, namely local tax revenue reports and Ponorogo Regency regional income budget data. The results showed that the financial performance of local taxes measured using economic ratios was in the economic category, the efficiency ratio was in the very efficient category. The results of the effectiveness ratio show that the financial performance of local taxes is very effective.

Abstract

The article aims to implement collaborative learning through innovative sharing and jumping tasks. This qualitative descriptive research was conducted at Junior High School 8 of Muhammadiyah Batu from July to December 2019. The research was conducted in grade VII involving nine observers. Learning activities were carried out in two open classes with a cycle of planning, implementing, and evaluating. Collecting data used observation sheets, questionnaires, and learning implementation sheets. Data analysis was performed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that teacher learning assistance in collaborative learning design with sharing task innovation and jumping task facilitates students' critical thinking and communication skills. It can be observed in two open classes and strengthened by the end of each stage's evaluation results. This study recommends teachers in designing collaborative learning with innovative designs of sharing tasks and jumping tasks. Keywords: Collaborative Learning, Jumping Task, Sharing Task

Abstract

Abstract - Plants section slides are a method of making mikroteknik slides intended for objects that are big and bold on the plant, so that the tissue can be seen under a microscope. Observations on the tissue of plants section slides big red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) will be more easily if use a dye to staining the tissue. The aim of this staining is to clarify the various tissues of plants, so that it can be distinguished and being reviewed with a microscope. Exploration of exploiting alternative coloring matter of being cheaper and has a high affinity towards cell components is very important, so the use of extracts of rosella petals flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) as alternative natural dyes are expected to produce natural staining alternative to replace staining is usually used. The aims of this research to know the effect of granting the concentration extract of rosella petals flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) as a natural dye to the quality of plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. and to know and compare quality of the picture of the plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. results of extract of rosella petals flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) natural staining with results of safranin synthetic staining.The type of this research is experimental research. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Biology of University of Muhammadiyah Malang which took place on March 11-March 15, 2014. This research used the concentration of extract of rosella petals flower is 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% with 3 times repeats. Data collected by direct observation and documentation directly from the camera by using a microscope. Data were analyzed with descriptive qualitative analyses and descriptive quantitative from observations results and documentation of the results directly from the microscope. The results showed there is the staining effect of various concentrations of the extract of rosella petals flower to the quality of plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. Quality of plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. results of natural staining from extract of rosella petals flower has a good quality picture of slides. Comparison of the quality of the plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. results of extract of rosella natural staining petals flower did not vary much with results safranin synthetic staining. Keywords: Extract, Hibiscus sabdariffa L., Natural staining, Section slides, Capsicum annuum L.
