Abstract

In the recent years it has been reported that there is a multimicrobe culture which is used for fermentation of feed ingredients and complete feeds. This multi microbial culture is introduced by the name of SBP® (Saus Burger Feed). This research study aims to understand the influence of fermented cocoa pod using multi microbe which is contained in the SBP to digest and biodegrade theobromine in the cocoo pod. Cocoa pod was fermented under anaerobic conditions at room temperature. Inoculums levels which were added consist of 0; 0,05, and 0,1% respectfully. During fermentation of the cocoa pod, its samples were taken on days of 0, 3, and 6, to understand the bacterial growth, pH changes, and changes in digestibility, and biodegradation of theobromine. Furthermore, it was followed by the isolation of bacteria, to understand the characteristics of obtained bacterial isolates, and fermented cocoa pod by way of isolates, and tested its ability in producing the cellulase enzyme (CMC-ase and β-glucosidase), and its ability to degrade the theobromine. The research results showed that during fermentation of cocoa pod there were increasing of lactic acid bacteria population, and total bacteria, decreasing in the pH, increasing in the fiber digestibility, and decreasing in content of theobromine in the cocoa pod. Changes in these parameters, more real case, and the cocoa pod is fermented with a moisture content of  40% and inoculated with a dose of 0,05% SBP® with a long fermentation of 6 days. Decreasing in the fermentation of theobromine in the cocoo pod with the largest reaching of 17,02%. Increasing in the fiber digestibility, and decreasing in the content of theobromine, during fermentation of cocoa pod by inoculants SBP, it is confirmed with characteristic of bacterial isolates which is obtained from the fermented cocoa pod. There were 8 isolates of bacteria, which can produce CMC-ase enzyme, and β-glucosidase with the different level of production. Several bacterial isolates were also able to reduce the content of theobromine, in liquid culture, up to 27,07%. ABSTRAKBeberapa tahun terakhir telah diberitakan adanya kultur multi mikrobia yang dipergunakan untuk fermentasi bahan pakan dan complete feed. Kultur multi mikrobia ini dikenalkan dengan nama Saus Burger Pakan® (SBP®). Penelitianini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh fermentasi pod kakao menggunakan multimikrobia yang terkandung dalam SBP terhadap nilai cerna serat dan biodegradasi theobromin. Pod kakao difermentasi dalam kondisi anaerob pada suhu ruang. Kadar inokulum yang ditambahkan adalah 0; 0,05; dan 0,1 %. Selama fermentasi dilakukan pengambilan sampel pada hari ke-0, 3, dan 6 untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan bakteri selama fermentasi pod kakao, perubahan pH, perubahan nilai cerna, dan degradasi theobromin selama fermentasi, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan isolasi bakteri untuk mengetahui karakteristik isolat bakteri dari pod kakao terfermentasi dengan cara isolat yang diperoleh diuji kemampuannya dalam menghasilkan enzim selulase (CMC-ase dan βglukoseidase) dan kemampuannya dalam mendegradasi theobromin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa selama fermentasi pod kakao terjadi kenaikan populasi bakteri asam laktat dan bakteri total, penurunan pH, kenaikan nilai cerna serat, dan penurunan kandungan theobromin dalam pod kakao. Perubahan parameter tersebut lebih nyata terjadi pada pod kakao yang difermentasi dengan kadar air 40% dan diinokulasi dengan SBP® dosis 0,05% dengan lama fermentasi 6 hari. Penurunan theobromin pada pod kakao fermentasi terbesar mencapai 17,02%. Kenaikan nilai cerna serat dan penurunan kandungan theobromin selama fermentasi pod kakao oleh inokulan SBP dikonfirmasi dengan karakteristik isolat-isolat bakteri yang diperoleh dari pod kakao yang terfermentasi. Ada 8 isolat bakteri yang mampu menghasilkan enzim CMC-ase dan β-glukosidase dengan tingkat produksi yang berbeda-beda. Beberapa isolat bakteri juga mampu menurunkan kandungan theobromin dalam kultur cair sampai sebesar 27,07%.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the application of S. cerevisiae as a probiotic for producing low cholesterol and antibiotic-free broiler meat. This study used 250 broilers (14 days old) which were divided into 5 treatment groups, those were T0 (rations without S. cerevisiae addition), T1, T2 and T3 (rations added with 0.5, 1, and 1.5 g/kg DM of S. cerevisiae respectively), and K group (commercial feed). Broilers were reared until 36 days old prior to slaughter. The carcass quality, abdominal fat, internal organs, cholesterol content of breast meat, the number of LAB and E. coli of intestinal tract were observed. The addition of S. cerevisiae tended to increase the number of LAB in intestinal tract, whereas the number of E. coli significantly decreased. The highest slaughter weight was found in group fed with commercial feed. There were no significant effects of S. cerevisiae addition on carcass, abdominal fat and weight of internal and immunity organs. The lowest cholesterol content was showed on broiler fed with rations added with 1 g/kg DM S. cerevisiae. Therefore it could be concluded that the addition of S. cerevisiae up to 1 g/kg DM rations showed health improvement and able to produce low cholesterol broiler meat.

Abstract

Permasalahan utama di Kelompok ternak ‘Limusin Jagir” adalah membutuhkan pendapatan tambahan secara kontinyu dari usaha peternakan sapi dan kambing. Pembuatan pupuk organik yang bermutu merupakan alternatif solusi yang baik. Hal ini dikarenakan:1)Bahan baku pembuatan pupuk organik berupa kotoran ternak, ketersediaannya selalu ada; 2)Daya terima konsumen dan pemasaran pupuk organik cukup baik. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: 1)Memberikan bekal pengetahuan  dan ketrampilan mengenai penggunaan starter mikrobia akan dihasilkan pupuk organik yang lebih cepat (hanya 21 hari sampai 28 hari dari umumnya lebih dari 5 bulan) dan berkualitas, yaitu bentuknya remah dan sudah dingin siap pakai untuk digunakan sebagai sumber makro mineral dan mikro mineral yang lengkap bagi tanaman. Jenis mikrobia yang dapat mengurai bahan organik antara lain Bacillus sp., Aeromonas sp., dan Aspergilus nigger. Mikrobia ini dapat dibuat sendiri dalam bentuk mikrobia lokal atau MOL, maupun yang tersedia di toko yaitu EM4; 2)Memberikan wawasan dan ketrampilan cara pengemasan yang kuat dan menarik, dapat meningkatkan nilai jual produk dan memberikan produk khas Desa Kemuning. Metode pelaksanaan seliputi: a)persiapan kegiatan, kemudian dilakukan b)penyuluhan, c)pelatihan dan bantuan peralatan pendukung, serta d)evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1)Kegiatan pengabdian mendapat respon positip dari kelompok peternak; 2)Pemberian bantuan berupa mesin jahit karung, peralatan pembuatan pupuk seperti sekop, terpal, dan sak kemasan dengan ukuran 5 kg dan 15 kg,  bahan untuk pembuat pupuk organik, seperti starter, tetes, sekam dan kapur. Pemberian alat bahan dimaksudkan sebagai contoh macam-macan alat dan bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan pupuk organik; dan 3)Respon para peternak sangat antusias dengan aktif mengikuti kegiatan saat pengabdian, dan langsung mengaplikasikan pada tanaman sayurnya.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to determine the effect of fermented rough rice bran on thin tailed sheep on sheep production performance which included feed consumption of dry ingredients feed, weight gain, and feed conversion. This study consisted of two treatments namely, (P0) rough rice brain as a control and fermented rough rice bran  (P1). The method used in this research was T-test. The results showed that the rough bran fermentation was not significantly different (P>0.05) in dry matter consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The highest average gain weight was on P1 (142.58 grams/head/day).

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of the addition of prebiotic oligofructose and phytase enzymes in feed containing wheat pollard on the performance of broiler. Oligofructose was added in feed 2 g/kg and phytase enzyme dose 500 U/kg. Parameters measured were broiler performance. One hundred broiler on 14 through 28 days were divided into 5 treatments: feed added P from dicalcium phosphate (P1), control feed (P2), feed added oligofructose (P3), feed added 2 g/kg phytase enzyme from Aspergillus niger (P4), and feed added a combination of oligofructose 2 g/kg and phytase enzyme dose of 500 U/g (P5). The data was analyzed to use Completely Randomized Design (CRD), if there was differences in further tests to be followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed the feed containing high P, oligofructose addition, phytase enzyme, combination between oligofructose and phytase enzyme showed improvement of broiler performance on 14 to 28 days.

Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the accuracy of estimating the nutrient content in rice bran as a feed ingredient by using Near Infrared (NIR) technology compared to proximate analysis method.Methods: Rice bran was used as feed sample to compare the results of data analysis using these two methods. In this study the Fourier Transform Near-infrared used infrared with wavelength of 12500-4000 cm-1. The OPUS 7.8 software was integrated with NIRS. The model was made by using Partial Least Square regression analysis to correlate the result of the spectrum and the result of proximate analysis method.Results: In this study, the nutrient content in rice bran available in markets, which commonly are Crude Protein (CP), ether extract (EE), and Crude Fiber (CF), are quite varied and wide in range, so that The curve prediction/true showed up wider and did not cover the entire surface of the line. In consequence two outliers were removed so that the accuracy value could be increased in measuring the quality of animal feed as indicated by the improvement of the coefficient of determination or R2, Root Mean Square Error for Cross Validation (RMSECV), and Standard Error (SE).Conclusions. NIR is a useful tool to estimate nutrient composition of rice bran available in the market especially for CP, EE, and CF by removing two outliers. The Prediction / True curve does not widen after removing two outliers, and can improve R2, RMSECV, and SE values.

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) yaitu (1) memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan PT Rima Kinanti Lestari selaku mitra dan kelompok ternak binaannya dalam mengolah pakan sehingga ketersediaannya dapat terjaga. (2) Mengetahui manfaat penambahan crude tanin kulit kopi pada silase untuk mendukung pertumbuhan ternak potong. Pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-November 2023 dan berlokasi pada kediaman mitra di Bagorejo, Gumukmas, Jember. Kegiatan ini melibatkan mitra dan 25 kelompok ternak binaan. Tahapan pengabdian diantaranya yaitu Focus Group Discoussion (FGD), penyuluhan, pelatihan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi oleh tim pengabdian. Hasil kegiatan PKM  yaitu seluruh target pada setiap tahapan telah terpenuhi. Pendekatan edukatif pengabdian memiliki dampak positif diantaranya meningkatnya pengetahuan mitra dan kelompok ternak binaan terkait teknologi pengawetan hijauan yaitu silase dengan penambahan crude tanin kulit kopi dan manfaat yang ditimbulkan setelah diberikan langsung untuk ternak potong. Setelah kegiatan ini terlaksana diharapkan mitra dapat secara mandiri mengembangkan teknologi silase crude tanin kulit kopi dengan tetap didampingi oleh tim pengabdian. Kata kunci: crude tanin; kulit kopi; silase; ternak potong Abstract The aim of community service activies is to provide knowledge and skills PT Rima Kinanti Lestari as a partner and all livestock group to processing feed so that its availability can be maintained. Furthermore, the benefits of adding crude tannin husk coffee to silage support the growth of livestock. Community service held in August-November 2023 and location at Bagorejo, Gumukmas, Jember. This activity involves partners and 25 livestock group built PT Rima Kinanti Lestari. The stages of service includ Focus Group Discussion (FGD), counseling, training, and monitoring evaluation. The conclusion has been achieved of all activity targets at each stage. The educational approach to service has a positive impact, include to increasing the knowledge of partners and assited livestock group regrading forage preservation technology namely silage with the addition of crude tannin coffe husk and the benefits thaht arise after be given directly to livestock. After this activity is carried out, it is hoped that partners can indpendently develop silage technology crude tannin coffe husk  while still being accompanied by the service team. Keywords: crude tannin; coffee husk; silage; livestock
