Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kulit pisang terhadap timbunan lemak pada organ reproduksi ayam. Materi yang digunakan adalah ayam pedaging dan kampung betina masing-masing 12 ekor. Ayam pedaging dan ayam kampung  dipelihara selama 8 minggu, kemudian dipotong.  Metode penelitian menggunakan  Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan dengan ulangan  4 kali. Penelitian ini menggunakan campuran kulit pisang TO (0%), T1 (30%),  dan T2 (47%).  Parameter yang diamati adalah bobot lemak ovarium, bobot lemak saluran telur dan bobot lemak vagina. Data hasil pengamatan dilakukan analisis ragam jika terdapat perbedaan nilai dari perlakuan maka di uji dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil analisis Duncan bobot lemak ovarium berbeda nyata sedangkan pada lemak saluran telur dan lemak vagina tidak berbeda nyata. Perbedaan perlemakan organ reproduksi terjadi di ovarium. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pakan dengan campuran kulit pisang 47% pada ayam pedaging dan ayam kampung dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk pemeliharaan ayam.Kata kunci: kulit pisang; ayam pedaging; ayam kampung; organ reproduksi. ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of a Musa acuminate balbisiana C  to the fat deposits on the reproductive organs of chicken. The research material used were 12 hens of native chicken. Broilers and native chicken were  maintained during  8 weeks and then slaughter off. Research method used  was completely randomized design with 3 treatment and four replications . A treatments used  were  a mixture of a Musa acuminate balbisiana C T0 (0%), TI (30%), and T3 (47%). Parameters measured were ovarian fat weight, oviduct fat weight and vagina fat weight. Duncan analysis results significantly different in ovarian used fat weight while in the oviduct fat and vagina’s fat not significantly different. Difference of reproductive organs fat happens  in the ovary. It can be concluded that feeding with a mixture of banana peel 47% in broilers and native chicken can be alternative to raising chickens.Keywords: broiler; Musa acuminate C; native chicken; reproductive organs

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas prefreezing terhadap gerakan individu dan persentase hidup spermatozoa pada sapi Jawa. Materi yang digunakan adalah semen sapi Jawa yang berasal dari 6 kali ejakulasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan (T0 tidak dilakukan prefreezing; T1 prefreezing 5 menit; T2 prefreezing 9 menit dan T3 prefreezing 13 menit) dengan enam kali ulangan. Parameter yang diamati gerakan individu dan persentase hidup spermatozoa. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukan bahwa efektivitas prefreezing tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap gerakan individu dan persentase hidup spermatozoa sapi Jawa. Disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pada parameter yang diamati. Disarankan agar dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut pada parameter yang lain, seperti pemeriksaan abnormalitas, evaluasi integritas membran plasma berupa keutuhan membran plasma ataupun keutuhan akrosom.Kata Kunci : sapi Jawa; prefreezing; gerakan individu; persentase hidupABSTRACT The objectives of this study were to determine the prefreezing effectiveness for motility and the percentage of live spermatozoa in cattle Java. The material used was semen of Java cattle originated from 6 times ejaculation. The Complete Randomized Design (CRD) was used with four treatments (T0 : control; T1 : prefreezing time of 5 minutes; T2 : prefreezing time of 9 minutes and T3 : prefreezing time of 13 minutes) and six replications at each treatment. Parameters observed were motility and percentage of live spermatozoa. The results showed that the difference in the length of time of prefreezing did not significant (P> 0.05) on sperm motility and percentage of live cattle Java. It was concluded that there was not significant different on parameters observed. It is recommended that further research should be done on other parameters, such as the semen abnormalities, evaluation of plasma membrane integrity both on plasma membrane and the acrosome integrities.Key words: Java cattle; prefreezing; motility; percentage of sperm live

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penampilan berahi sapi Jawa yang meliputi lama berahi, perubahan vulva, keberadaan lendir yang serviks, dan tingkah laku yang ditunjukkan sapi Jawa yang mempunyai umur berbeda. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 18 Juli 2011 sampai tanggal 11 Agustus 2011 di KTT Cikoneng Sejahtera Kecamatan Banjarharjo, Kabupaten Brebes, Jawa Tengah. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 11 ekor sapi Jawa yang telah poel 1 (1½ - 2 tahun) 4 ekor, poel 2 (diatas 2 – 3 tahun) 3 ekor, dan poel 3 (diatas 3 - 3½ tahun) 4 ekor. Parameter yang diamati adalah penampilan vulva, kelimpahan lendir serviks, tingkah laku, dan lama berahi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor penampilan vulva untuk sapi Jawa betina poel 1, poel 2, dan poel 3 secara berturut-turut adalah 1; 1; 1,5. Kelimpahan lendir serviks untuk sapi Jawa poel 1, poel 2, dan poel 3 secara berturut-turut adalah 1; 1; 2,5. Skor tingkah laku untuk poel 1, poel 2, dan poel 3 secara berturut-turut adalah 1; 1; 1,5. Lama berahi sapi Jawa betina poel 1, 2, dan 3 secara berurutan adalah 10 jam, 12 jam, dan 13,5 jam. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah sapi Jawa betina poel 3 menunjukkan penampilan berahi yang relatif lebih jelas dan lebih lama daripada sapi Jawa betina poel 1 dan poel 2.Kata kunci: sapi Jawa betina; Poel; penampilan berahi.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to determine the performance of Java cattle estrus that includes length of estrous, changes in the vulva, the presence of cervical mucus, and the behavior on different ages Java cattle. The study was conducted on July 18, 2011 until August 11, 2011 in KTT Cikoneng Sejahtera, Sub Banjarharjo, Brebes regency, Central Java. Materials used in this study were 11 cows Java has Poel 1 (1 ½ - 2 years) 4 heads, Poel 2 (over 2-3 years) 3 heads, and Poel 3 (above 3-3 ½ years) 4 heads. The parameters measured were the appearance of the vulva, cervix mucus abundance, behavior, and estrous length. The results showed that vulva performance scores of Java cattle Poel 1, Poel 2, and Poel 3 respectively are 1; 1; 1.5. The cervical mucus of Java cattle Poel 1, Poel 2, and Poel 3 respectively are 1; 1; and 2,5. Behavior score for Poel 1, Poel 2, and Poel 3 respectively are 1, 1; 1.5. Estrous length of Java cattle poel 1, 2, and 3 respectively is 10 hours, 12 hours, and 13.5 hours. The conclusion of this research is a female cow Java Poel 3 shows the appearance of a relatively more obvious passion and longer than females Java cows Poel Poel 1 and 2.Keywords: Java female cattle; Poel; the estrous performance.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh umur terhadap kualitas semen pada sapi Jawa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli sampai Agustus 2011 dan dilanjutkan pada bulan Juni 2012, di Kelompok Tani Ternak Cikoneng, Desa Malahayu, Kecamatan Banjarharjo, Kabupaten Brebes, Jawa Tengah. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 8 ekor sapi jantan Jawa. Masing-masing berumur <2 tahun sebanyak 2 ekor, umur 2-3 tahun sebanyak 3 ekor, dan umur >3 tahun sebanyak 3 ekor yang berada di KTT (Kelompok Tani Ternak) dengan cara pemeliharaan yang sama. Jumlah sapi pada masing-masing kelompok umur dianggap sebagai ulangan. Rancangan statistik yang digunakan adalah One Way Classification (RAL) dengan ulangan tidak sama. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam, dilanjutkan uji Duncan jika ada pengaruh umur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa umur sapi jantan Jawa berpengaruh terhadap volume, tetapi tidak mempengaruhi parameter yang lain seperti warna, pH, konsistensi, konsentrasi, motilitas, mortalitas dan abnormalitasnya.Kata Kunci : Sapi Jawa; umur; kualitas semen.ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of age on semen quality in Java bull. This research was conducted from July to August 2011, and continued in June 2012, located at farmer group of Cikoneng Sejahtera, Banjarharjo, Brebes, Central Java. The materials used were 8 heads of Java bulls, those were 2 heads of <2 years old, 3 heads of 2-3 years old, and 3 heads of >3 years old. All of materials were raised at farmer group in the same management. A number of bulls at each age group were assumed as the replication. Statistical design used was One Way Classification with unbalanced data. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, then followed by Duncan test if there is effect of the bull age. The results showed that age affects semen volume, but did not affect other parameters such as color, pH, consistency, concentration, motility, mortality and normality.Key words : Java bulls; age; semen quality.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk  mengetahui pengaruh umur terhadap ukuran epididimis, abnormalitas sperma dan volume semen pada sapi Simmental di BIB Ungaran. Materi yang digunakan 15 ekor pejantan Simmental dengan pembagian kelompok berdasarkan umur T1=<36 bulan sebanyak 4 ekor, T2=36-<72 bulan sebanyak 7 ekor dan T3=72-<108 bulan sebanyak 4 ekor. Parameter penelitian adalah ukuran epididimis (panjang caput, corpus dan cauda), abnormalitas sperma dan volume semen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa umur tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang caput, panjang corpus, panjang cauda dan volume semen antar kelompok. Umur berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap abnormalitas sperma antara T2 dengan T3. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa umur pejantan tidak berpengaruh terhadap ukuran epididimis dan volume semen tetapi berpengaruh nyata terhadap abnormalitas spermatozoa. Pejantan dengan umur 36 - <72 bulan mempunyai kualitas sperma paling baik.Kata kunci: umur; epididimis; abnormalitas sperma; volume semen. ABSTRACT            The purpose of this research was to know the effect of Simmental bull ages on epididymis size, sperm abnormality and semen volume at Ungaran Artificial Insemination Centre. Materials used were 15 Simmental bulls categorized by bull ages, namely 4 bulls of T1=<36 months, 7 bulls of T2=36-<72 months and 4 bulls of T3=72-<108 months. Parameters observed were epididymis size (the length of caput, corpus and cauda),  sperm abnormality and semen volume. The result showed there was no significant difference between bull ages on epididymis size (the length of caput, corpus and cauda) and semen volume. Bull ages showed significant difference (P<0.05) on sperm abnormality between T2 and T3. The conclusion showed that there was no significant difference between bull ages on epididymis size and semen volume but showed significant difference on sperm abnormality. Simmental bull with 36 - <72 months ages had the best sperm’s quality.Keyword: bull ages; epididymis; sperm abnormality; semen volume.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan  mengetahui pengaruh jarak dan waktu tempuh dari pos IB ke akseptor IB terhadap evaluasi post thawing motility (PTM), abnormalitas dan spermatozoa hidup pada semen beku. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 36 straw semen beku berasal dari pejantan Simental. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan RAL pola faktorial2 x 2 terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu faktor A = jarak (1 = 0-3 kilometer dan 2 = >3-6 kilometer) dan faktor B = waktu (1 = 1-5 menit dan 2 = >5-10 menit). Data diolah dengan uji F dan dilanjutkan uji jarak berganda Duncan apabila terdapa tperbedaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase PTM pada perlakuan A1B1 (60%); A1B2 (57,78%) dan A2B1 (55,6%) berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap A2B2 (50%). Persentase abnormalitas spermatozoa pada perlakuan A1B1 (16,4%) tidak berpengaruh terhadap A1B2 (16,5%) namun berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap A2B1 (19,01%) dan A2B2 (21,07%). Persentase spermatozoa hidup pada perlakuan A1B1 (67,92%) A1B2 (65,5%) A2B1 (63,92%) berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap A2B2 (62,28%). Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan A1B1 memberikan informasi hasil yang paling baik. Kata Kunci : Jarak Tempuh; Waktu Tempuh; PTM; Abnormalitas; Semen ABSTRACT This research was conducted  to evaluate the effect of distance and time from the postal of Artificial Insemination (AI) to the acceptor of AI on frozen semen to observed the Post Thawing Motility (PTM), sperm abnormality and life sperm. A total of  36 frozen semen from cattle Simental bull were used in this research. A Factorial completely randomized design was used in the experiment with the first factor A was distance (1 = 0-3 kilometer and 2 = >3-6 kilometer)and thefactor B was time (1 = 1-5 minute dan 2 = >5-10 minute). Statistical data were then analyzed with F test and Duncan’s multiple range test. Results of this research showed that percentage of PTM on A1B1 (60%); A1B2 (57.78%) and A2B1 (55.6%) were significantly different (P<0,05) to A2B2 (50%). Percentage of  sperm abnormality A1B1 (16.4%) has no different with A1B2 (16.5%) but highly significantly different (P<0.01) to A2B1 (19.01%) and A2B2 (21.07%). Percentage of life spermatozoa on A1B1 (67.92%);  A1B2 (65.5%) and  A2B1 (63.92%) were significantly different (P<0.05) to A2B2 (62.28%). Abstract

ABSTRACTThis experiment was conducted to investigate effect of different water jacket release time on frozen semen quality with two step methods. The semen was collected from four heads Java cattle, extended with skim-egg yolk extender. The extended semen packed with water jacket then release with different time (treatments) T0 (35 minutes), T1 (10 minutes) and T2 (60 minutes) until all equilibration process was finish. Data analysis preparing with normality and homogenity testing, when the data was normal and homogeneous will be followed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result showed average of semen quality before freezing T0; T1 and T2 for pH 6,27; 6,27 and 6,43; motility (%) 40,83; 36,67 and 32,50; live sperm percentage (%) 29,68; 33,97 and 22,20; sperm abnormality (%) 20,82; 13,26 and 14,16 respectively. Average of post thawing T0; T1 and T2 for pH 6,27; 6,27 and 6,27; motility (%) 5; 2,92 and 0,42; live sperm percentage (%) 11,21; 12,90 and 19,24; sperm abnormality (%) 22,11; 19,26 and 22,82 respectively. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analysis of variance ANOVA. Hasil pemeriksaan before freezing perlakuan T0, T1 dan T2 untuk pH sebesar 6,27; 6,27 dan 6,43; motilitas (%) sebesar 40,83; 36,67 dan 32,50; persentase hidup (%) yaitu 29,68; 33,97 dan 22,20; persentase abnormalitas (%) yaitu 20,82; 13,26 dan 14,16. Rata – rata hasil pemeriksaan pada post thawing T0, T1 dan T2 terhadap pH sebesar 6,27; 6,27 dan 6,27 motilitas (%) sebesar 5; 2,92 dan 0,42; persentase hidup (%) yaitu 11,21; 12,90 dan 19,24; persentase abnormalitas (%) yaitu 22,11; 19,26 dan 22,82. Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of SOYXYL as one of the dietary protected protein supplement product in the rations on the reproduction performance of Simmental bulls. Twelve 5 years-old Simmental bulls were allotted to 4 treatment groups with 3 replications in each, i.e.: T0= control ration (elephant grass + 5 kg/head/day commercial concentrate), T1= control ration + 150 g protected protein supplement SOYXYL (3% of concentrate), T2 = control ration + 300 g SOYXYL (6% of concentrate) and T3= control ration + 450 g SOYXYL (9% of concentrate). The experiment lasted for 90 days. At the end of the experiment, semen and blood were collected and body weight gain was measured. The variables measured included sperm motility, sperm concentration, blood protein, blood urea and the concentration of testosterone. Results showed that SOYXYL supplementation, particularly at the levels of 3 and 6%, increased the total plasma protein of bulls. SOYXYL supplementation at 3% from concentrate resulted in increased plasma urea concentration. Feeding SOYXYL, particularly at the levels of 6 and 9%, increased the average daily gain of bulls as compared to control. Feeding 3% SOYXYL increased, but at the levels of 6 and 9% decreased the concentration of sperm of bulls. The concentration of testosterone was higher in the bulls received 3 and 6% SOYXYL in the rations. Dietary supplementation of SOYXYL increased the sperm motility of Simmental bulls. In conclusion, dietary supplementation of SOYXYL at the level of 3% increased plasma protein, testosterone, and sperm concentrations as well as sperm motility. However, supplementation of SOYXYL at 6 and 9% from rations decreased the concentrations of sperm and testosterone.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of fermented shrimp waste meal on the characteristics of reproductive organs such as live weight, oviduct weight and length, ovarian weight, total yellow follicles, total white follicles, oviduct percentage and reproductive organ percentage. This experiment was conducted on Faculty of Animal Science and Agriculture, Diponegoro University. A total of 250, 6-week-old Japanese quail (consist of 250 females) were randomly assigned to one of 5 dietary treatments. 1st group (T0) was fed by diet without shrimp waste (control), 2nd group (T1) was fed by diet with 7,5% non-fermented shrimp waste, 3rd group (T3) was fed by diet with 5% fermented shrimp waste (FSW), 4th group (T3) was fed by diet with 7,5% FSW and 5th group was fed by diet with 10% FSW. 2 quails from each replicates were taken as samples. The members of a given sample were killed by severing the neck then separated the reproductive organs from the body. Measured the live weight, oviduct weight and length, ovarian weight, total yellow follicles, total white follicles, oviduct percentage and reproductive organ percentage. All data were examined using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the effect of fermented shrimp waste meal on reproductive organs characteristics such as live weight, oviduct weight and length, ovarian weight, total yellow follicles, total white follicles, oviduct percentage and reproductive organ percentage were not significant. The use of fermented shrimp waste up to 10% didn’t obstruct the growth and development of quail reproductive organs.

Abstract

SOYXYL supplementation as a source of high-quality protected protein in rumen (Rumen Protected Protein) has proven to improve reproduction performance of bulls. The SOYXYL is an extrusion product of soybean (Glycine max) as a source of rumen protected protein. The potential of the protein supplementation is maximally expressed when it is supported by sufficient of metabolic rate. In this case the choline chloride supplementation increases the metabolic rate. The aim of the research was to analyze the effect of choline chloride supplementation on reproduction performance and hematologic status related to reproduction performance of bulls fed protected protein in the ration. The materials used were 12 bulls aged 5 years having weight of 700 ± 2.75 kg that were divided into 4 treatment groups, each of which consisted of 3 heads. The treatments applied were T0 (control): ration (grass + commercial concentrate) + protected protein supplement “SOYXYL”; T1: control + choline chloride 0.145% dry matter (DM) concentrate/head/day; T2: control + choline chloride 0.290% DM concentrate/head/day; T3: control + choline chloride 0.435% DM concentrate/head/day. Variables measured were nutrient consumption, blood lipid status, blood protein status, and reproduction performance. Data were analyzed using ANOVA in a completely randomized design and statistically processed using SAS program. The result showed that choline chloride supplementation by 0.435% from DM concentrate increased (p<0.05) the concentration of blood plasma protein, blood testosterone hormone, sperm concentration, and sperm motility from 6.44 g/dL, 4.66 ng/mL, 1006.74 million/mL, and 36.00%, respectively, in T0 to be 8.57 g/dL, 9.07 ng/ml, 1270.41 million/mL, and 70.00% in T3, respectively. The choline chloride supplementation up to 0.435% from DM concentrate to bulls supplemented with protected protein containing in the ration increased reproduction performance.
