Prevalence of gingivitis and dental caries (91% and 93.8%, respectively) occurs in children with down syndrome aged 6 to 20 years. Oral and dental health problems are found in children with down syndrome because they have physical and motoric limitation in maintaining oral and dental hygiene, thus require parental care from mother. Perceived parenting style includes responsiveness and demandingness. Perceived parenting is crucial for mother whose children have Down syndrome in order to guide their health behavior, particularly to maintain oral and dental health. Composition of each item in questionnaire of perceived parenting style and mother’s behavior in maintaining dental health of children with Down syndrome was passed through validity and reliability test. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression correlation test. Result: This present study showed that perceived parenting style is significantly correlated with mother’s behavior in maintaining dental health of children with Down syndrome (R = 0.630, p = 0.000), with perceived parental responsiveness as a strong predictor. Mean score and standard deviation of perceived parental responsiveness and demandingness were 33.00±2.99 and 15.55±1.99, respectively. Conclusion: Perceived maternal parenting style in children with Down syndrome is closely related to mother’s behavior in maintaining dental health of children with Down syndrome.

Methods: The type of research used is analytic cross sectional with purposive sampling technique, the total population is 416 students and the sample obtained is 87 respondents using the cross-sectional formula. Data analysis using chi-square test and ordinal regression analysis. The result of the study there are two factors that influence dental anxiety on tooth extraction using chi-square test, namely gender (p=0.035) and parents education (p=0.001) and there is the most influential factor using logistic regression analysis test, namely parents education ( p=0.001) with an odds ratio value (9.31). In conclusion, most of the respondents experienced moderate anxiety and the influencing factors were gender and parent’s education. The benefit of this research is to provide input for health workers, especially dentists and dental nurses, in providing good dental and oral health care efforts by paying attention to the level of anxiety in pediatric patients who will have their teeth extracted.

Methods: Literature review, articles obtained through the Google Scholar database (2016-2021) using PICOS as a determinant of inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Results: The effective chemical disinfectants were 2% NaOCl, listerine, chlorhexidine gluconate, and povidone iodine, while the effective traditional disinfectants were vinegar with 5-8% glacial acetic acid, 1% vinegar, 38% white vinegar mixed with salt solution. 3.5%, 50% white vinegar solution, 38% white vinegar solution, garlic, lime juice, rosella flower decoction, neem, guava leaves, green tea leaves, papaya leaves, baking soda, salt, and black tea leaves. Conclusion: Chemical disinfectants that have been shown to reduce the number of bacteria on toothbrushes are NaOCl 2% and traditional disinfectants that have been shown to reduce the total number of microbes on toothbrushes are vinegar with 5-8% glacial acetic acid, and 1% vinegar and 38 white vinegar solution. % mixed with a 3.5% salt solution has been shown to reduce the total number of bacteria on the toothbrush.
