Abstract

Dental and oral health is an integral part of overall body health. The value of dental and oral hygiene and health is important for every individual to know. Parental knowledge about dental health will greatly determine the health status of their children later. The problem in this study is the high number of dental caries in grade 1 students of SDN Kebonagung 1 kec. Sukodono district.Sidoarjo.This study aims to determine the knowledge of parents about dental caries in grade 1 students at SDN Kebonagung 1 kec. Sukodono district.Sidoarjo.The method of collecting data is by filling out questionnaires. The results showed that parental knowledge about dental caries was in the poor category (49.7%), parental knowledge about the cause of dental caries was in the moderate category (72.2%), parental knowledge about the impact of dental caries was in the less category (53, 7%), parental knowledge about dental caries prevention is lacking (46.1%). It can be concluded that parents' knowledge about dental caries in students is included in the less category.

Abstract

Abstract: An effective preventive measure for dental and oral diseases is brushing teeth, but toothbrushes can be a means of transmitting pathogenic microorganisms that cause systemic diseases and oral diseases. It is recommended to replace a toothbrush every 3 months so that bacteria does not accumulate, but the average Indonesian people replace it at least once every 10 months. Objective: To determine the use of chemical disinfectants and traditional disinfectants to reduce the number of microbes on toothbrushes. Methods: Literature review, articles obtained through the Google Scholar database (2016-2021) using PICOS as a determinant of inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Results: The effective chemical disinfectants were 2% NaOCl, listerine, chlorhexidine gluconate, and povidone iodine, while the effective traditional disinfectants were vinegar with 5-8% glacial acetic acid, 1% vinegar, 38% white vinegar mixed with salt solution. 3.5%, 50% white vinegar solution, 38% white vinegar solution, garlic, lime juice, rosella flower decoction, neem, guava leaves, green tea leaves, papaya leaves, baking soda, salt, and black tea leaves. Conclusion: Chemical disinfectants that have been shown to reduce the number of bacteria on toothbrushes are NaOCl 2% and traditional disinfectants that have been shown to reduce the total number of microbes on toothbrushes are vinegar with 5-8% glacial acetic acid, and 1% vinegar and 38 white vinegar solution. % mixed with a 3.5% salt solution has been shown to reduce the total number of bacteria on the toothbrush. Abstract

Abstract: Brushing teeth properly and correctly is an important factor for maintaining oral health. The success of maintaining oral and dental health is also influenced by the pattern of brushing teeth. The pattern of brushing teeth includes the technique of brushing teeth, the time and frequency of brushing teeth. The problem in this study is poor oral and dental hygiene in elementary school children (46.4%). Dental and oral hygiene is an important factor for dental and oral health to be free from disease, therefore dental and oral hygiene must be maintained and maintained in order to create optimal health. Objective: Knowing the relationship of brushing patterns with dental and oral hygiene in elementary school children. Method:. Collecting data on brushing patterns by filling out a checklist on the observation sheet and interview sheet. Collecting dental and oral hygiene data using an examination sheet. Respondents in this study amounted to 110 students, who were taken by simple random sampling. The data analysis technique used was the Chi-square test. Results: The pattern of brushing teeth in the poor category is 89 respondents (80.9%), dental and oral hygiene is in the bad category, namely 51 respondents (46.4%). The results of the Chi-square test are P value 0.002.Conclusion: That there is a relationship between the pattern of brushing teeth with dental and oral hygiene in elementary school children.Keyword : Toothbrushing, Dental and Oral Hygiene, Elementary School Children
