Abstract

Coffee house ini diperkenalkan oleh seseorang yang bernama Stephen Soifort (2016) dengan tujuan mendesain kelas speaking dalam bentuk yang lebih natural. Ruangan kelas dan mahasiswa akan di set sedemikian rupa menyerupai model café atau resto. Mereka kemudian akan diminta duduk bersama, sebanyak 2 orang atau lebih yang sedang membicarakan topic-topik umum yang biasa diperbincangkan oleh orang-orang yang saling kenal satu sama lain. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah; (a) untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan teknik coffee house berbasis CTL dalam meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa di mata kuliah speaking, (b) untuk menganalisis tingkat efektifitas, manfaat, kelebihan dan kekurangan dari penggunaan teknik coffee house berbasis CTL dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa di mata kuliah speaking. Peneliti menggunakan pre-experimental design dimana sample hanya satu kelas dengan sekali pre-test dan sekali post-test tanpa adanya kelas control sebagai pembanding. Adapun desain yang ingin ditawarkan adalah salah satu pendekatan Pre-experimental yaitu pre-test and post-test group design mengadopsi model yang ditawarkan Borg and Gall (1983: 682). Penelitian akan dilakukan di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. Jumlah keseluruhan populasi di semester III Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris sebanyak 1 kelas total keseluruhan 17 orang. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teknik “coffee house” dalam meningkatkan kemampuan speaking mahasiswa bisa disimpulkan “efektif”. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil score pre-test maupun post-test mahasiswa yaitu, nilai t-test adalah 5.313, konsultasi pada t-table di 99 % menunjuk pada angka 2.60, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perbandingan t-test dan t-table adalah 5.313 ≥ 2.60 atau dengan kata lain hasil test mahasiswa melampaui standar capaian minimum.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pelatihan Pertolongan Pertama SAR Air Nasional KSR-PMI dan Relawan Perguruan Tinggi se-Indonesia berdampak baik bagi mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini guna meningkatkan skill  tanggap darurat bencana air/laut, wahana habituasi bidang kepalangmerahan, kreatifitas dan profesionalisme dalam upaya pelayanan kepada masyarakat, menyamakan persepsi KSR dan relawan perguruan tinggi se-Indonesia. Pelatihan ini urgen mengingat resiko kebencanaan di Indonesia makin tinggi, bencana dominan sepuluh tahun terakhir diantaranya banjir, tanah longsor, gelombang abrasi, puting beliung, kekeringan, kebakaran, tsunami, gempa bumi, dan letusan gunung api. Pelatihan merupakan salah satu solusi penanganan kebencanaan. Pelatihan ini berlangsung sepuluh hari tahapannya; teori dalam kelas, praktek lapangan, simulasi, aksi sosial, dan kunjungan wisata. Teori, praktik, dan simulasi didatangkan ahli-ahli bindang kepalangmerahan, penanggulangan bencana, dan akademisi. Ahli-alhi tersebut dari PMI Provinsi NTB dan Kota Mataram, BASARNAS Lombok Barat, dan Dosen. Materi yang dibahas manajemen kepemimpinan organisasi mahasiswa, manajemen pelatihan, radio komunikasi dan pengenalan BASARNAS, manajemen penanggulangan bencana, pertolongan pertama, pengantar SAR air, pedoman SAR air dan metode SAR air, deven and rilis, dan akses korban dalam air. Simulasi dilaksanakan di Pantai Gading dan kolam renang, bhakti sosial berlangsung di Gunung Jae. Keberhasilan pelatihan ini terlihat dari semangat, antusias, dan hasil simulasi. Peserta sudah memahami teknik dan motode pelaksanaan PP-SAR air dalam penanggulangan bencana.Abstract: First-aid training of national Water SAR (KSR) and Indonesian college volunteers have a good impact on students. This activity is to improve the emergency response skills of water/sea disasters, the field of Habitat habituation, creativity, and professionalism in the service effort to the community, equate the perception of KSR and college volunteers in Indonesia. This training urgent considering the risk of disaster in Indonesia is higher, the dominant disasters of the last ten years include floods, landslides, abrasion waves, nipples, droughts, fires, tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. Training is one of disaster management solutions. The training lasted ten days; Theory in class, field practice, simulation, social action, and tourist excursions. Theory, practice, and simulation come from the experts in the head, disaster management, and academics. The experts are from NTB provincial PMI and Mataram City, BASARNAS West Lombok, and lecturer. The materials covered by Student organization leadership Management, training management, radio communication and introduction of BASARNAS, disaster management, first aid, Introduction to water SAR, water SAR guidelines and water SAR methods, Deven and release, and access to victims in the water. Simulation is carried out in Ivory Coast and swimming pool, social bhakti takes place at Mount Jae. The success of this training was seen from passion, enthusiasm, and simulated results. Participants already understand the technique and methods of the implementation of PP-SAR water in disaster management.

Abstract

Free weekly writing is designed for students to write in every week using free topic based on students’ passion. This action research investigated the effectiveness of implementing free weekly writing in improving students’ writing ability. The participants of this study were 35 students at the VI semester of English Department, FKIP UM-Mataram in academic year 2015-2016. The data were collected by four stages of action research; planning, action, observation, and reflection. The finding of the research proved that almost 83% passed the passing grade. Means that only about 17% students failed to reach the passing grade.  There are some factors affected the students’ ability in writing, they were; (a) a writer is forced to read a lot from many sources and having the knowledge, (b) a writer must have well understanding about content and focus of writing, (c) grammatical competence, (d) comprehending the rules of punctuation of in writing, (e) a professional writer must have own characteristic.

Abstract

This study aims at determining the effectiveness of using "Question Cards" in improving students speaking ability at class VII of SMP Muhammadiyah Mataram. This study is part of a pre-experimental study known as a pre-test and post-test group design, in which the sample is given a pre-test before treatment and a post-test after treatment. There was no control group in this investigation; instead, only one experimental group was used. This study takes a quantitative approach to its findings. The participants in this study were seventh-graders from Muhammadiyah Mataram Junior High School, who were divided into only one class of 16 pupils. Purposive sampling is the approach used. The use of the "Question Cards" strategy in increasing the speaking skills of SMP Muhammadiyah seventh grade students can be concluded as "successful" in this study. This is demonstrated by the students' pre-test and post-test scores, namely, the t-test score is 5.313, the consultation on the t- table at 99 percent points to 2.60, and it can be concluded that the comparison of t-test and t-table is 2.60 5.313, or in other words, the student's test results exceed the minimum standard of achievement.

Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the English components or sub-skill that must be taught to the students. The vocabulary has the role to develop the four language skills, they are listening, reading, writing and speaking. Many vocabularies that the students have, is the easier for them to develop it, especially in the pandemic era because of COVID-19, the teacher have to use a media like an English song to enrich the students at Mining Department of Engineering Faculty vocabularies. In order that, the purpose of this study was to investigate the use of song as a media whether it is effective or not in teaching vocabulary. The total population of this study involved 92 students but the sample of by using the purposive technique sampling got 20 students in A class as a control and 20 students at B for experimental class. The instrument of this study used multiple choice tests which consist of 20 items. The data was collected by using pre-test and post-test, then followed by analyzing the data based on Arikunto’s theory using descriptive design. As well as the manual computation the result also showed that the score of the t-test was 4.741. The researcher compare that t-table at the degrees of freedom (df) (Nx + Ny)-2 . df = 20 + 20 – 2 = 38. The degree of freedom of 38 is at the competence interval of 0.05 (95%) is 2.024 and 0.01 (99%) is 2.711. the comparison is done between t-test formulated with t-table in which results is 4.741 it is to found that the t-table of “t” indicated: t-test 4.741 > t-table. It means that the mean score of the experimental class was higher than control class. So, the researcher concluded that the use of song “I Love You 3000” is effective in teaching learning English at Mining Department in academic year 2018/2019 and it means that the use of song as an alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

Abstrak: Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang sangat pesat selain memberikan kontribusi bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan dan kemajuan peradaban manusia juga menjadi arena efektif perbuatan melawan hukum. Seperti halnya berita hoax yang tersebar melalui media terutama media sosial di kalangan masyarakat termasuk mahasiswa. Hoax tentang pandemi Covid-19 belakangan menjadi pemberitaan hangat, beragam isu mencuat di tengah-tengah mahasiswa pada saat pembatasan sosial skala besar hingga membuat beragam sikap dan tindakan muncul sebagai respon. Mahasiswa di Kota Mataram merupakan bagian dari elemen masyarakat yang termakan pemberitaan hoax tentang pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis peran media edukasi dalam mencegah berita hoax pandemi Covid-19 di kalangan mahasiswa Kota Mataram. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed method dengan desain concurrent triangulation. Subjek dan informan penelitian utama adalah mahasiswa yang berdomisili di Kota Mataram. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, angket, dan observasi. Keabsahan data dilakukan melalui perpanjangan keikutsertaan, ketekunan, dan triangulasi. Guna mengukur data digunakan juga validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data menggunakan analisis campuran bersamaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa facebook merupakan indikator yang memiliki kategori yang paling tinggi dalam mengedukasi kesadaran pencegahan berita hoax pandemi covid-19 dikalangan mahasiswa dengan tingkat persentasi 30,70 %. Sedangkan whatsapp berada pada kategori sedang yakni 61,80%. Untuk media convensional (cetak dan online) Lombok Post, Suara NTB, dan Radar Lombok dengan total skor berada diantara 160-165 dengan tingkat persentasi 70,30%-68,10% dengan rata-rata berkategori tinggi.Abstract:  The rapid development of information technology in addition to contributing to the improvement of welfare and progress of human civilization is also an effective arena for unlawful acts. As well as hoax news spread through the media, especially social media among the community including students. Hoaxes about the Covid-19 pandemic later became hot news, various issues emerged among students at a time of large-scale social restrictions to make various attitudes and actions appear in the response. Students in Mataram City are part of the community element that is consumed by hoax news about the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to find out and analyze the role of educational media in preventing hoax news of the Covid-19 pandemic among students of Mataram City. This research uses a mixed-method with concurrent triangulation design. The main research subjects and informants are students of Mataram City. Data collection using interviews, scales, and observations. The validity of the data is done through the extension of participation, perseverance, and triangulation. To measure the data is also used validity and reliability. Data analysis using mixed analysis together. The results showed that Facebook is an indicator that has the highest category in educating awareness of hoax news prevention pandemic covid-19 among students with a percentage rate of 30.70 %. While WhatsApp is in the medium category of 61.80%. For conventional media (print and online) Lombok Post, Suara NTB, and Radar Lombok with a total score of between 160-165 with a percentage rate of 70.30%-68.10% with a high category average.

Abstract

Abstrak: Koalisi dalam sistem pemerintahan presidensial menjadi penting ketika lembaga eksekutif dan lembaga legislatif memiliki ruang intervensi terhadap kerja pemerintahan seperti di Indonesia. Pemerintah merasa perlu membangun koalisi yang mampu menstabilkan dan memuluskan kebijakan dan kerja pemerintahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis eksistensi koalisi partai politik dalam sistem pemerintahan presidensial Indonesia. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan mengkaji bagaimana mewujudkan sistem pemerintahan presidensial yang ideal pada sistem multipartai di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan yuridis normatif, pendekatan yuridis normatif digunakan untuk mengkaji atau menganalisis data sekunder yang berupa bahan-bahan hukum, terutama bahan-bahan hukum primer dan sekunder. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dalam bentuk deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa eksistensi koalisi partai politik dalam praktek penyelenggaraan pemerintahan terjadi perluasan arti, koalisi partai politik secara konstitusi dilakukan dalam rangka pemilihan umum. Koalisi sulit dihindari dalam sistem multipartai di Indonesia. Sistem pemerintahan presidensial dengan sistem multipartai tidak cocok jika dikombinasikan karena dapat menghancurkan demokrasi, bangsa harus menentukan pilihannya antara mempertahankan sistem pemerintahan presidensial murni sesuai konstitusi. Sistem kepartaian harus dimodifikasi menjadi sistem multipartai terbatas. Selanjutnya ada 3 hal yang harus dilakukan untuk mewujudkan sistem pemerintahan presidensial yang ideal bagi demokrasi Indonesia; a] Menyederhanakan partai politik, b] Mengatur koalisi tetap, dan c] Mengatur lembaga oposisi.Abstract:  The presidential government system coalition becomes important when the executive and legislative have an intervention to government work as well as Indonesia. The government needs to build coalitions which are able to stabilize and smooth government policies and work. This study aims to analyze the existence of a coalition of political parties in Indonesia's presidential government system, also to realize an ideal presidential government system in a multiparty system in Indonesia. This study uses a normative juridical approach, used to study or analyze secondary data in the form of legal materials, especially primary and secondary data. Data collection method was done through literature study in descriptive form. The results showed that the existence of a coalition of political parties in the government expanded the meaning, a coalition of political parties constitutionally carried out in the context of general elections. Coalition cannot be avoided in a multiparty system in Indonesia. A presidential government system with a multiparty system is not suitable if it combined, because it can destroy democracy, the nation must make its choice in maintaining a purely presidential government system in accordance with constitution. The party system must be modified to a limited multiparty system. Furthermore, there are 3 things that must be done to realize an ideal presidential government system for Indonesian democracy; a] Simplifying political parties, b] Arranging permanent coalitions, and c] Organizing opposition institutions.

Abstract

Abstrak: Proses Penerapan Nilai-nilai Nasionalisme oleh mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran maupun pada aktifitas keseharian di Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram seringkali terkesan dikesampingkan. Mengingat kurangnya kesadaran mahasiswa terhadap nilai moral dan nasionalisme, seperti tidak mentaati peraturan kampus, tidak menghargai teman yang berbeda suku serta menggunakan bahasa daerah di dalam kelas disaat proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Pendidikan memegang peranan yang sangat penting dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran kebangsaan atau nasionalisme pada bangsa Indonesia. Peneliti menawarkan gagasan baru dengan memberikan project kepada mahasiswa, harapannya project tersebut akan terus bisa memotivasi mahasiswa untuk menumbuhkan sikap dan perilaku nasionalisme dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Menggunakan interview, dan recording sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan internalisasi nilai-nilai nasionalisme mahasiswa melalui pilot project pada mata kuliah pendidikan kewaganegaraan cukup efektif, karena penanaman nilai-nilai ini secara serius dan intens akan berdampak pada perubahan pola fikir yang nantinya akan merubah pola perilaku secara perlahan dan berkesinambungan. Ada beberapa hal yang masih harus dikuatkan oleh lembaga pendidikan, terutama dosen dan guru berkaitan dengan penghargaan terhadap penggunaan bahasa nasional dalam lembaga formal maupun pertemuan formal. Supaya isu suku dan primordialisme bisa diminimalisir serta tujuan dari penggunaan Bahasa Nasional sebagai bahasa perekat anak bangsa yang berbeda suku dan bahasa bisa terwujud.Abstract:  The process of applying the values of nationalism by students in the learning process and daily activities at the University of Muhammadiyah Mataram often seems sidelined. Given the lack of awareness of students to moral values and nationalism, such as not obeying campus rules, not respecting friends of different tribes, and using regional languages in the classroom during the learning process. Education plays a very important role in fostering national awareness or nationalism in the Indonesian nation. Researchers offer new ideas by providing projects to students, the hope is that the project will continue to motivate students to foster nationalism attitudes and behaviors in everyday life. This research was conducted with a descriptive qualitative approach. Use interviews, and recording as data collection tools. The results showed that the internalization of the values of student nationalism through pilot projects in state education courses is quite effective, because the cultivation of these values seriously and intensely will have an impact on changes in mindset that will change behavior patterns slowly and continuously. Several things must still be strengthened by educational institutions, especially lecturers and teachers related to the appreciation of the use of national languages in formal institutions and formal meetings. So that the issue of ethnicity and primordialism can be minimized and the purpose of the use of the National Language as the adhesive language of children of different tribes and languages can be realized.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis tradisi dan adat-istiadat masyarakat asli Kore di tengah masyarakat Suku Mbojo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan dan desain entografi dalam metode penelitian kualitatif. Fenomena khas yang akan diteliti hanya ada di Suku Kore. Teknik Pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi. Data akan dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi dan adat-istiadat masyarakat asli Kore masih dipertahankan sampai sekarang, terdapat unsur budaya benda dan unsur budaya tak benda. Unsur budaya benda diantaranya peninggal berupa Uma Raja (rumah kerajaan) yang menjadi kediaman keturunan asli Kore, benteng, makam kono, makan kerajaan, bendera kerjaan Sanggar, dan tempat-tempat pemujaan yang dianggap sakral. Unsur budaya tak benda berupa bahasa Kore, Legenda La Hami Kore, Hikayat Dae La Minga, atraksi berupa Mpa'a Kapodo, Mpa'a Sampari, Mpa'a Gantao, Buja kadanda, music berupa Hadrah Rebana, biola gambo. Lagu: Inde ndua, Waro, Wala-wala, Manu Vinem Taloko, rangko, Janga Ile, cake, gele, tarian berupa Tari Inde Ndua, Tari Cake-cake, Tari Toja, dan Tari Wura Bongi Monca. Tradisi sosial yang ada pada Suku Kore adalah Ngaha Dana, Salunga oha, Pacoa Jara, Nggalo, dan Ngguda. Upacara Ritual berupa upacara ufi untuk pengobatan sakit tertentu, tolak bala, dan ndewa (tarian tradisional) untuk minta hujan, cari orang hilang, dal lain-lain.Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the traditions and customs of the indigenous Kore people in the Mbojo Tribe community. This research uses an ethnography approach and design in qualitative research methods. The typical phenomenon to be studied exists only in the Kore Tribe. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data using triangulation. The data will be analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results showed that the traditions and customs of the indigenous Kore people are still maintained today, there are elements of material culture and elements of intangible culture. Cultural elements of objects include the death of the Uma Raja (royal house) which is the residence of the original descendants of Kore, fortifications, kono tombs, royal meals, sanggar work flags, and places of worship that are considered sacred. Intangible cultural elements in the form of Kore language, Legend of La Hami Kore, Hikayat Dae La Minga, attractions in the form of Mpa'a Kapodo, Mpa'a Sampari, Mpa'a Gantao, Buja kadanda, music in the form of Hadrah Tambourine, violin gambo. Songs: Inde ndua, Waro, Wala-wala, Manu Vinem Taloko, rangko, Janga Ile, cake, gele, dance in the form of Inde Ndua Dance, Cake-cake Dance, Toja Dance, and Wura Bongi Monca Dance. The social traditions that exist in the Kore Tribe are Ngaha Dana, Salunga oha, Pacoa Jara, Nggalo, and Ngguda. Ritual Ceremonies in the form of ufi ceremonies for the treatment of certain illnesses, tolak bala, and ndewa (traditional dances) to ask for rain, search for missing persons, dal others.

Abstract

Essentially, language professionals have offered a plenty of fascinating and enjoyable language education approaches and ideas. Media realia is one of the alternative strategies presented in this study. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of using realia media to teach English to young children. The study was conducted at the Sang Surya Muhammadiyah Boarding School Kindergarten in Mataram with 11 children as the sample. The pre-experimental approach, namely pre-test and post-test group design was applied in this research. The instruments to gather the data were observation, a vocabulary test and recording, while the data collection procedure was done through pre-test, treatment and post test. Finally, the data were analyzed using a pre-experimental formula in the form of statistical computation. The result shows that the comparison of the t-test and t-table is 3.21 ≥ 2.60, or the test results exceed the minimal accomplishment levels. It revealed that the use of the "realia" technique has a significant impact on the development of children's vocabulary learning.  In another words, the use of "Realia" technique in teaching English to young children at MBS Batu Ringgit is "effective" when used in the teaching and learning process.
