Abstract

Lip balm is a cosmetic preparation with the main components such as wax, fat, and oil from natural or synthesized extracts with the aim of preventing dryness of the lips by increasing lip moisture and protecting the adverse effects of the environment on the lips. The use of purple sweet potato as a dye is because purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lamk.) has an attractive color, the color of purple sweet potato is due to the presence of anthocyanin pigments which are derivatives of flavonoid compounds which are generally soluble in polar solvents. This study aims to formulate and evaluate lip balm preparations using purple sweet potato extract at concentrations of 3%, 6%, 9%, and without using purple sweet potato extract. This research is experimental research. Lip balm preparations were made by adding purple sweet potato extract with various concentrations (F1) 3%, (F2) 6%, (F3) 9%, and blank formula (F0) as the basis for lip balm preparations without purple sweet potato extract. Evaluation of the preparation includes homogeneity test, stability test, smear test, adhesion test, spreadability test, and pH test. The test results showed that purple sweet potato extract can be formulated in lip balm preparations that have a homogeneous composition, have good smearing power, good adhesion F0 (1 minute), F1 (1 minute 3 seconds), F2 (1 minute 8 seconds). seconds), F3 (1 minute 11 seconds), spreadability (5-5.7cm), pH test on all preparations showed a pH that was in accordance with the pH of the skin. And obtained formula 3 is the best formula.

Abstract

Until now, the utilization of clamshell waste has been limited to handicraft materials, whereas shellfish waste has a high calcium carbonate composition of about 98% which can be used as a source of calcium in the synthesis of compounds containing calcium metal. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of calcium contained in the shells of mussels and to determine the levels of calcium in the preparation of talcum powder which was added with powdered shells of feathers as an abrasive. Complexometric titration is also used to determine calcium levels in powder preparations formulated with feather shells powder. The results showed that the shells of feather shells contained calcium levels of 19.49% while the loose powder preparations contained calcium levels of 1.475%. The test results of the research on the formulation of loose powder preparations met the physical evaluation requirements. The pH test on loose powder, namely pH 7, meets the requirements of SNI 16-4399-1996, the pH value of cream cosmetic products is required to range from 4.5 to 8.0. The fine degree test is qualified because the loose powder can pass the sieving using a 100 mesh.

Abstract

In Indonesia with a tropical climate, rosella can thrive. Roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is well known for its petals which can be used as a health drink that can cure various diseases. Roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) contains nutritious substances such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, which have antibacterial properties. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial hand sanitizer ethanol extract of Rosella flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) had good quality and stability against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research was experimental, including rosella flower sample collection, simplicia drying, extract making using a rotary evaporator, phytochemical screening, characteristics of the antibacterial activity test preparation of hand sanitizer with agar diffusion method using paper discs. Roselle flower ethanol extract can be made as Hand sanitizer in spray preparations and has antibacterial activity. The difference in the concentration of the ethanol extract is 2.5%, the inhibition zone is 6.8 mm, 5% is the inhibition zone is 7.27 mm, 7.5% is the inhibition zone is 7.72 mm and 10% is 12.35 mm. The ethanolic extract of the Roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) can be used as a hand sanitizer preparation. It has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and is the most effective at a concentration of 10% of 12.35 mm.

Abstract

Cosmetics are used on the external parts of the human body (epidermis, hair, nails, lips, and external genital organs) or on the teeth and oral mucosa mainly to clean, perfume, change appearance and/or improve body odor or protect and maintain the body in good condition. There are many types of fake cosmetics on the market today, there are cosmetics that are circulating in the market illegally (not having a BPOM permit) which are dangerous for users. This study aims to determine the level of preference for the use of several facial cleansing gel cosmetic products and to determine the effect of different active ingredients on the level of preference of several facial cleansing gel products. The sample used in this study were 30 female adolescents aged 15-23 years. The research method used in this research is descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires and observations. The results showed that all facial cleansing gel cosmetic products used in this study had passed the BPOM notification and did not experience irritation on the respondent's skin when the irritation test was carried out for 2 x 24 hours. At the level of preference for cosmetic products seen from the overall product parameters, the respondents most preferred were Brand A Products, which were 362, then Brand B Products were 356, then Brand C Products were 320.
