Abstract

The level of sensitivity and auditory responses observed due to the influence of sound waves can be used as bio-indicators of noise. The aims of this study are to determine the effect of the intensity level of ultrasonic waves to leukocytes and erythrocytes, and to observe the optimal intensity level that can affect the quantity of leukocytes and erythrocytes of mice. Ultrasonic waves with varying levels of intensity of 70 dB, 75 dB, 80 dB, 85 dB, and 90 dB were exposed to the mice for 2 hours, then the quantity of leukocytes and erythrocytes of the mice were observed. The average number of leukocytes in those variation of the intensity level respectively are (4,13±0,50) x103; (5,20±0,62) x103; (5,48±0,72) x103; (5,87±0,65) x103 dan (6,04±0,32) x103; while the average number of erythrocytes respectively are (7,29±0,14) x106; (7,10±0,22) x106; (6,18±0,24) x106;( 5,96±0,52) x106; dan (5,75±0,41) x106 . The average number of leukocytes increased, while erythrocytes decreased as the increasing of intensity level of ultrasonic waves. The optimal intensity level of ultrasonic waves affecting the quantity of leukocytes and erythrocytes of mice has not been known yet from this study.

Abstract

A research on Co-60 gamma radiation effect of induced mutation in physiological growth of tomato plant (Lycopersicon Esculentum L.) has been done. Tomato plant quality can be improved through induced mutation Co-60 gamma radiation. Genetic change could be caused by induced mutation from radioactive material as a human effort. IRPASENA plant with Co-60 gamma radiation source exposed with dosage treatment of 50 Gy, 100 Gy, 150 Gy, 200 Gy and 250 Gy in tomato seeds. The measurement carried out against the physiological growth of plant height, leaves width, amount and weight of tomato fruits at the first week until harvest time. Result shows that the correct radiation dosage for tomato breeding is 100 Gy. Radioactivity concentration in improved tomato fruits after radiation exposure is less than 1.00 Bq/kg. Vitamins content on improved tomato fruits after exposure, particularly on vitamin C is 130.000 mg/kg compared to control fruit that is 70.000 mg/kg, the vitamin B1 also shows increased value (0.63 mg/kg) compared with control fruit (0.496%).

Abstract

This research has been determined the value of a sun protection factor (SPF) of sunlight by using cotton, rayon, and polyester conducted at ten observation points along Kuta Beach, Bali. This research started by determination the intensity of the sunlight without fabric protector and the intensity of sunlight with a fabric protector such as cotton, rayon, and polyester with color blue, green, red, and yellow. Luxmeter is used to measure the intensity of sunlight in units of lux. The intensity was taken at the sunny weather in the range 10-11 o’clock to 16-17 o’clock. SPF value can be calculated by comparing the intensity of the sunlight without fabric protector (lux) with the intensity of sunlight with a fabric protector (lux). The intensity of sunlight in the range of 10-11 o’clock to 16-17 o’clock is approximately 59.760 lux to 138.660 lux. ANOVA analysis showed the intensity of sunlight at each point of observation did not differ significantly (. SPF value at each point varies and SPF values obtained for the maximum is the blue cotton fabric with SPF value is 30 and the minimum value is the yellow polyester fabric with SPF value is 3.

Abstract

Research has been conducted to study adaptive response of the quantity and components leucocyteafter Co-60 gamma radiation. This research used 20 male mice with an average weight of 20-30 gand aged 35-95 days. The male mice given adaptive dose 0,1 Gy followed by a continuous dose of 1Gy, 2 Gy and 3 Gy. Co-60 gamma radiation shows that the quantity of leucocytes decreased until the30th day is called lowest point. With 0,1 Gy adaptive dose shown to reduce leucocyte damage by13,95% compared with no adaptation dose. After passing through the lowest point, the quantity ofleucocytes increased until the 60th day. With an increase in the adaptive dose is faster to reach anincrease of 25,16%. On leucocyte component, which has increased similar with quantity leucocytes isthe neutrophil segment and lymphocytes.

Abstract

Onion (Allium ascalonicum L) Preservation With Gamma Ray Co-60.This experiment hasbeen done to find out approach optimum dose that able to resist the growing of onion bud. Theresponse that exceeded is morfology through the growing of onion bud. The onion that is used is fromThailand variety with 5 month and average weight is 4.15 gramsfor 650 pieces. 650 pieces of onionirradiated by using gamma ray Co-60 IRPASENA irradiator at PTKMR BATAN, Pasar Jumat Jakarta.Iradiation dose is varieted by 50 Gy, 100 Gy, 150 Gy, and 200 Gy. Bud onion growing exceeded anddocumented once a week, and room temperature and room humidity noted once a day. During 2months experiment have been found the result that irradiated onion with 150 Gy dose have the slowestgrowing compare to other variety dose compared by 50 Gy, 100 Gy, 150 Gy and 200 Gy.

Abstract

Hampir seluruh jenis masakan di Indonesia menggunakan tomat (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) sebagai bahan dasar pembuatannya. Nilai gizi yang terkandung dalam tomat juga cukup tinggi, karena terdapat sejumlah kandungan vitamin yang diperlukan oleh tubuh manusia. Selain itu, tomat menjadi tanaman unggulan nasional komoditas hortikultura dan prioritas utama pada sejumlah provinsi di Indonesia. Demikian banyak manfaat dari tomat mengindikasikan bahwa produktivitas tomat harus segera ditingkatkan. Salah satu peningkatan dari segi kualitas dapat dilakukan dengan cara induksi mutasi dengan radiasi gamma Co-60. Induksi mutasi adalah perubahan genetik yang disebabkan oleh usaha manusia, salah satu caranya yaitu dengan bahan radioaktif. Radiasi gamma Co-60 dari pesawat IRPASENA dipaparkan pada biji tomat dengan perlakuan dosis 50, 100, 150, 200 dan 250 Gy. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengukuran terhadap pertumbuhan fisiologis meliputi lebar daun, tinggi tanaman, jumlah buah dan berat basah buah tomat dari minggu-1 hingga panen. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kurva pertumbuhan fisiologi tanaman tomat sesuai dengan kurva sigmoidal pertumbuhan tanaman. Pertumbuhan fisiologis tanaman tomat optimal pada dosis radiasi gama Co-60 100 Gy. Pada dosis optimal tersebut pertumbuhan fisiologis tanaman tomat diketahui yang terbaik (unggul) dibandingkan pada dosis di bawah dan di atas 100 Gy maupun kontrol. Almost all types of cuisine in Indonesia are using tomatoes as the base material of manufacture. The nutritional value contained in tomatoes is also quite high, because there is a number of vitamin content required by the human body. In addition, the tomatoes in plants featured national horticultural commodity and priority on a number of provinces in Indonesia. So many benefits of tomatoes indicates that the productivity of tomatoes should be improved. One improvement in terms of quality can be done by means of mutation induction with gamma radiation of Co-60. Induction of mutations are genetic changes caused by human effort, one of them is by using radioactive materials. Gamma rays of Co-60 from the IRPASENA facility was exposed to tomato seeds at doses of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 Gy. And then measurements were conducted on the physiological growth of leaf width, plant height, number of fruit and wet weight of tomatoes from week 1 until harvest. The results showed a growth curve of tomato is in accordance with sigmoidal plant physiological growth curve. Optimal physiological growth of tomato plants was obtained at dose of gamma radiation of 100 Gy. At this optimal dose physiological growth of tomato plants is the best (superior) than in doses below and above 100 Gy and control.

Abstract

Harga cabai yang turun saat panen melimpah tentu sangat merugikan petani. Hal tersebut perlu segera ditangani dengan cara memperlama masa simpan cabai menggunakan tekonologi tepat guna melalui program pengabdian kepada mayarakat. Tujuan program tersebut adalah memperkenalkan teknik pengeringan cabai menggunakan alat pengering cabai. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian menggunakan metode ceramah interaksif dan praktek tentang teknologi pengolahan produk cabai mentah hingga menjadi cabai kering menggunakan alat pengering cabai. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah terciptanya alat pengering cabai sederhana berbahan bakar gas. Alat tersebut dibangun menggunakan kombinasi bahan logam (90%) dan kayu (10%) berukuran 80 x 50 x 120 cm3, dengan daya tampung hingga ± 7 kg cabai rawit mentah. Cabai rawit merah dan cabai rawit hijau mengalami penyusutan berat masing-masing sekitar 80% dan 90% dengan warna produk sangat kontas. Proses pengeringan dengan alat pengering lebih cepat (6 jam) dibandingkan dengan cara konvensional (7-10 hari). Berdasarkan hasil kuisioner, tingkat keberhasilan pelaksanaan program pengabdian tersebut di atas 90%.

Abstract

A study has been conducted on comparative analysis of cervical cancer radiation to the bladder organ with 10 MV energy LINAC (Linear Accelerator) radiotherapy using the 3DCRT (Three Dimension Conformal Radiotherapy) technique and the IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) technique at Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar. The 3DCRT and IMRT techniques were compared by analyzing the values ??of the HI (Homogeneity Index), CI (Conformity Index) and radiation dose distribution in the OAR (Organ At Risk), namely the bladder. The data used are 30 cervical cancer patient data with 10 MV photon beam radiotherapy planning and a total radiation dose of 5000 cGy. In calculating the HI and CI values, the data used were radiation dose of 98%, 50%, 2% of target volume and 95% volume on PTV and the average dose on Bladder organs. The data was obtained from the DVH (Dose Volume Histogram) statistics contained in the TPS (Treatment Planning System). The results of the HI value of 0.0818 for the 3DCRT technique and 0.0899 for the IMRT technique with statistical test results obtained the Asimp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.056> 0.05 which means it is not significant, while for the results of the CI value of 0.9500 for the 3DCRT technique and 0.9499 for the IMRT technique with statistical test results obtained the Asimp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.970> 0.05 which means it is not significant, meanwhile the percentage of the average dose in the bladder organ obtained an average result from the 3DCRT and IMRT irradiation techniques, 96% and 88%, respectively, with statistical test results, the Asimp.Sig (2-tailed) value was 0.000 <0.05, which was significant. Cervical cancer radiation using the IMRT technique is better than the 3DCRT technique because the IMRT technique minimizes the absorbed dose in OAR, it can be seen from the percentage of the average dose in the bladder organ with the IMRT technique getting a smaller dose percentage.

Abstract

A study has been conducted to determine the effect of patient table on the absorbed dose on the Co-60 NPIC-GWXJ80 machine at the Radiotherapy Installation Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar. Measurement of radiation dose is one part of the Quality Control (QC) radiotherapy machine. Measurements were carried out according to the TRS 398 IAEA protocol, using a phantom slab with a thickness 10 cm, dose 200 cGy, Source to Surface Distance (SSD) 80 cm with irradiation angles of 00 (anteroposterior position/AP) and 1800 (posteroanterior position/PA). The calculation of the absorbed radiation dose was carried out using Microsoft Excel worksheet TRS 398. The measurement results showed that the absorbed dose with the installation of the patient table was smaller than without the installation of the patient table. The deviation of the absorbed dose in the measurement of AP, PA without a table and PA with a table, respectively, is 1.24%, 1.48% and 5.04%. The deviation of the absorbed dose in the PA measurement with the table exceeds the tolerance limit set by the IAEA, which is ±5%, so it is necessary to calculate the correction factor for the patient table. The value of the patient table correction factor was 0.97 with the corrected irradiation time is1.56 minutes. The deviation of the absorbed dose based on the results of measurements and calculations using a corrected irradiation time is 2.35%, so that the output of the Co-60 machine is in accordance with the IAEA TRS 398 standard and is suitable for use.

Abstract

Radioterapi kanker serviks pada pesawat Linac menggunakan berkas photon energi 6 MV dengan teknik 3 Dimension Conformal Radiotherapy (3DCRT) dan Intensity Modulation Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Perencanaan radioterapi pada tehnik 3DCRT dan IMRT  kemudian dibandingkan dengan menganalisis distribusi dosis atau planning target volume (PTV) coverage melalui Conformity Index (CI) dan Homogeneity Index (HI) serta Organ At Risk (OAR) dimana organ beresiko yang diperhatikan adalah rektum. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan 30 data pasien kanker servik di Instalasi Radioterapi RSUP Sanglah Denpasar dengan perencanaan menggunakan box system  pada teknik 3DCRT dan teknik IMRT dengan sudut rotasi 00, 900, 1800, dan 2700 dan dosis radiasi 5000 cGy. Perbandingan kedua teknik ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis kurva Dose Volume Histogram (DVH) pada PTV coverage yang terdapat pada komputer Treatment Planning System (TPS). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan nilai rata-rata CI pada tehnik 3DCRT adalah 1,017542 sedangkan pada tehnik IMRT sebesar 1,019668, dengan uji mann whitney (Asymp.Sig =0,492). Demikian juga dengan nilai HI, dimana pada tehnik 3DCRT rata-ratanya adalah 0,089494 sedangkan pada tehnik IMRT sebesar 0,093126 denga uji mann whitney (Asymp.Sig = 0,487), kedua nilai CI dan HI tidak signifikan. Sedangkan persentase dosis rata-rata organ rektum pada kedua teknik penyinaran 3DCRT dan IMRT berturut-turut yaitu 96% dan 87% dengan hasil uji statistik diperoleh nilai Asimp.Sig = 0.000 yang berarti signifikan. Radioterapi kanker serviks dengan menggunakan teknik IMRT dapat meminimalisir dosis serap pada OAR (rektum).
