Abstract

The study aims to determine the physical, chemical, and biological,properties of peat soil on several level of firein Kampar regency. The research was conducted from March to April 2017 in Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province and Soil Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. The research was conducted by survey in the field, determining the sample point using Purposive Sampling Method. The soil samples were taken from 3 locations ie. the land with heavy, medium and light fire level and control (non-burning / natural forest) and used as treatment and 3 replications to obtain 12 units of experiment. Soil samples were analyzed soil physical and chemical characteristics. The results showed the physical and chemical characteristics of the soil undergoing changes and categorized as broken.Keywords: fire, peat land damage, soil physical and chemical characteristics

Abstract

Peatlands in Indonesia is one of the natural resources that have the potential for development in the rubber plantation sector. Use of peatlands as a plantation must be managed well to keep it from damage, because peat has great benefits. One way to keep the peatland in order to avoid damage by growing a cover crop Mucuna bracteata.The purpose of this study was to knowing diversity of soil macrofauna and knowing the relationship between the girth of rubber plants that overgrown and not overgrown by Mucuna bracteata. This research has been conducted in areal life plant PT. RAPP Subdistricts Teluk Meranti, District Pelalawan, Riau and analysis soil macrofauna in Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. Research was conducted from January until March 2016. Sampling in this research is a purposive sampling of 5% of the 20.4 ha (1.02 ha). The data obtained from the research and calculations such as total individual, family, population density, relative density and diversity of soil macrofauna analyzed descriptively and the data measuring the girth of rubber plants were statistically analyzed. The results showed that life mucuna has a diversity index, total individual, the number of species, population density and relative density greater than without mucuna and died mucuna. Average girth of rubber plants in life mucuna greater than compared to without mucuna and died mucuna.Keywords :Mucuna bracteata, rubber plants, peatlandand soil macrofauna

Abstract

This study aimed to compare macrofauna of burnt and unburned peat soil and to know the effect of time increase after fire to macrofauna peat soil. This research was conducted by survey method, sampling for soil macrofauna data determined by purposive random sampling method that is by choosing the location in accordance with the purpose of research. The soil samples were taken on unburnt peatland, in peat a week after fires and in peat 4 months after fires with a capture area of 1 m x 1 m at a depth of up to 15 cm taken 6 samples so that there were 18 samples. The data obtained from the results of research and calculations are listed in table form. Then the data is analyzed statistically descriptive. The results of this study indicate the type and number of macrofauna individual soil on peat is not burned more than peat a week after the fire and, peat 4 months after the fire. Time-increasing effects on peat a week after a fire have increased the type and number of macrofauna because macrofauna proliferate in peat 4 months after the fire.Keywords:Macrofauna, Fire and Peat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the dosage of biogas waste liquid fertilizer that produces growth and yield of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L) best. The research was conducted in Experimental Field of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. The soil type used is Inceptisol. The study was conducted for three months starting from May to July 2016. The experiment was conducted experiments using Completely Randomized Design (RAL), which consisted of 6 treatments and 4 replications. The total experimental unit was 24 plots, with each plot contained 9 plants. Each plot was taken 3 randomly sampled plants. The observational data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Varian (ANOVA), and  Duncan Multiple Range Test at the 5 % level. The observed parameters consist of plant height, leaf number, fresh weight of plant, fresh weight of plant worth consumption and dry weight of the plant. The results showed that the treatment of biogas waste liquid fertilizer can increase the height of the plant, the number of leaves, the fresh weight of the plant / plot, the fresh weight of the plant is feasible consumption / plot and dry weight. The best treatment for lettuce production was the application of liquid biogas waste fertilizer with a dose of 3.5 liters / plot.  Keywords: waste biogas, liquid fertilizer, lettuce

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect using LCC Mucuna bracteata at various land slope of palm TBM-III on soil physical properties and plant root growth of palm oil. This research has been conducted in PTPN V Unit Lubuk Dalam, Siak and the analysis of soil physical properties at Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This study lasted from January to April 2016. The research was conducted by using split plot design. The level of land slope (K) as the main plot which are: K1 = land slope 0% - 3%, K2 = land slope >3% - 8%, K3 = land slope >8% - 15%. The using LCC Mucuna bracteata (M) as the subplot, which are: M0 = land planted with oil palm without LCC Mucuna bracteata, M1 = land planted with oil palm LCC Mucuna bracteata. Parameters observed are water content airy, soil temperature, bulk density, particle density, total of pore space, permeability, soil organic matter, root dry weight, root volume and root occupy. The results showed: (1) the interaction of land slope and the using LCC Mucuna bracteata does not affect all of the soil physical properties and the root growth of oil palm plantations, except for water content airy in the soil depth 20-30 cm; (2) the land slope only affects the water content airy in the soil depth 0-10 cm; and (3) the using LCC Mucuna bracteata effect on water content airy, bulk density, particle density, total pore space in the soil depth of 0-5 cm, permeability and soil organic matter. Keywords: Mucuna bracteata, land slope, soil physical properties

Abstract

This study aims to determine the abundance (type and amount) soil mesofauna and rubber tree growth (Havea brasiliensis Muell. Arg) in peat soil with different conditions of Mucuna bracteata. This research has been conducted in peat soil at social plantation area of PT. RAPP Teluk Meranti from January to March 2016. Analysis soil mesofauna and analysis soil carried out in the laboratory of soil science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research used purposive random sampling namely in rubber contained Mucuna bracteata life, Mucuna bracteata dead and without Mucuna bracteata. Determining the plant sample was randomly with diagonal method in order to get 5 rubber trees that are Mucuna bracteata life, 5 Mucuna bracteata dead and 5 without Mucuna bracteata. Data obtained from the calculation and interpretation of the data be stated in tables and analyzed statistically descriptive. The research show that in stands of rubber trees in the peat soil contained Mucuna bracteata life shows number of individual, family and population density (Kp) soil mesofauna is highest compared with Mucuna bracteata dead and without Mucuna bracteata. Abundance of soil mesofauna highest in rubber tree stands on peat soil which are Mucuna bracteata life dominated by the family Macrohelidae, Mucuna bracteata dead dominated by the family Macrohelidae and without Mucuna bracteata dominated by the family Hirudisomatidae. The rubber tree that is Mucuna bracteata life having the average circle stems is larger compared with Mucuna bracteta dead and without Mucuna bracteata. Abstract

The parameters measured were the number of family, total individual, population density (K), relative density (KR), diversity index (H ') of soil mesofauna, root dry weight, root volume and root occupy. The results showed: (1) land planted with oil palm with LCC Mucuna bracteata has a number of families, total individuals and diversity soil mesofauna higher in than those without LCC Mucuna bracteata both at the level of land slope 0% - 3% >3% - 8% , and >8% - 15%; (2) The higher the slope (%), the total individual and population density (K) soil mesofauna lower; and (3) root dry weight, root volume and root occupy a tendency to increase the area planted with Mucuna bracteata LCC compared to land without LCC Mucuna bracteata. Keywords: Mucuna bracteata, land slope and mesofauna

Abstract

This research aims to determine the best interaction of high peat groundwater level and giving oil palm empty bunches ash to the growth and production of soybean plants, this research has been conducted in the green house of Agriculture Experimrntal Station Faculty of Agriculture University Riau, from November 2017 untill February 2018. this research was conducted experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) which is consist 2 factors. First factor is the groundwater level (T), 30 cm below the foil surface, 40 cm below the foil surface. Second factor is oil palm empty bunches ash (A) 2,5 ton.Ha-1, 5 ton.Ha-1. The data obtained were analyzed  statistically using analysis of  variance with Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The result showed the interaction of giving oil palm empty bunches ash and groundwater level, significantly affected pH, plant height, effective percentage of root nodules, harvest age, number of planting pods, dry seed weight, weight of 100 seeds, percentage of pods, and root length. And had no significant effect to other parameters. The combination of giving oil palm empty bunches ash 5 ton.Ha-1 and 30 cm below the foil surface  gave the best results on parameters of plant height (92,96 cm), number of pods per plant (79,16 pods), dry seed weight of crop (12,07 g), percentage of pods (71,33%) and weight of 100 seeds (9, 44 g).Keywords: Groundwater level, oil palm empty bunches (ATKKS), peat soil, soybean (Glycine max L.)

Abstract

The objectives of this research was to know the physical properties of peat soil and growth of rubber plant on several ground cover condition by Mucuna bracteata at social plantation area of  PT. RAPP, Teluk Meranti Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. Soil analysis was carried out the laboratory of soil science Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research was carried out from January to March 2016 and the determination of the area of sampling arranged using purposive sampling methods thats are sampling of rubber plant contained living mucuna, passed of mucuna, and without mucuna. Variables observed in this research include of the soil physical properties and observation of rubber plant. Observation of the soil physical properties were soil colour, soil temperature, soil moisture, bulk density, soil particle density, total pore space, soil permeability, and water holding capacity. Parameter observed of rubber plant is circular stem. The result showed that peat soil covered by living mucuna have soil physical properties (soil moisture, soil temperature, and water holding capacity) higher than passed of mucuna and without mucuna. At the rubber plant covered by living mucuna also showed circular stem higher than rubber plant on the passed of mucuna but on the passed of mucuna have circular stem higher than without mucuna. Keywords : Soil physical properties, peat soil, Mucuna bracteata, rubber plant

Abstract

ABSTRACT               Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Is one type of plantation that occupies the most important position in the agricultural sector, this is because oil palm is able to produce the largest economic value per hectare compared to other oil-producing or fat plants. Indonesia has a great opportunity to develop oil palm plantations, one of the provinces that is the center of oil palm development in Indonesia is Riau province. The positive impact of oil palm expansion besides being able to increase people's income, also expanding employment, while the negative impact caused damage to the properties of the land. This study aims to obtain the right dosage of OPEFB to breed worms and improve infiltration in inceptisol soil. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and four replications to obtain 16 experimental units. The factor used was 4 doses of OPEFB compost. The treatment of 430 g per 900 cm² was the best treatment for the development of earthworms as indicated by the highest number of tillers, number of cocoons, total earthworm weight and rate of soil infiltration Keywords: Palm oil plants, oil palm empty bunches, earthworms
