Abstract

The dairy cow business has become a regeneration business as a family business. The dairy cow business in Indonesia is generally still a people's dairy cow business with a scale of ownership under 10 per farmer. The main problem that is still faced today is the inefficiency of farmers in the dairy business. Based on these problems, this study aims to determine the value of the technical efficiency of dairy cattle businesses, factors of production that can increase or decrease milk production, and determine the inefficiency factors in dairy cattle businesses. The study was conducted on the people's dairy cows in Tanjungsari District in August-September 2019 in the KSU area of Tandangsari. Data is collected by the survey method using a questionnaire. The analysis was performed using Frontier 4.1 software. The results of the analysis show the average value of the technical efficiency of the dairy cattle business in the study area is 0.643. The factors of production that can affect milk production are the number of lactation cows, foraging, concentrating, and labor. Factors that are thought to affect efficiency include age, experience, education, non-productive cattle, total population, main occupational dummy, and grass production, although not statistically significant. Based on the value of the technical efficiency indicates that the dairy cow business in Tanjungsari District has not been technically efficient (Et) <1 (0.643).

Abstract

Tujuan utama dalam pembuatan model kurva pertumbuhan adalah untuk deskripsi dan prediksi. Tujuan deskripsi merupakan upaya untuk bisa mempermudah interpretasi dari proses pertumbuhan ternak menjadi hanya beberapa parameter, sedangkan tujuan prediksi lebih fokus bagaimana metode untuk memprediksi dari beberapa parameter. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat model kurva pertumbuhan sapi perah Fries Hollands dari lahir sampai siap kawin yang sesuai dengan situasi dan kondisi skala industri peternakan sapi perah. Data bobot badan sapi betina yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan hasil penimbangan bobot badan dari sapi perah Fries Hollands yang dipelihara oleh PT Taurus Dairy Farm Sukabumi dari tahun 2001 sampai 2011, sejumlah 1221 ekor, individu yang mempunyai data lengkap dari lahir sampai umur kawin pertama sebanyak 373 ekor. Sedangkan untuk data BPPTU Baturraden 214 ekor data kelahiran sampai ternak siap untuk dikawinkan pertama kali dari 2010 sampai 2011. Data dianalisis menggunakan program SAS 9.2 dengan prosedur NLIN (Non Linear). Kurva yang dihasilkan dapat dipakai sebagai standar kurva pertumbuhan sapi perah Fries Hollands di Indonesia dari lahir hingga siap kawin. Model matematik Logistic dapat dipakai untuk menduga kurva pertumbuhan karena mempunyai tingkat akurasi yang tinggi dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R2) lebih dari 90%.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian Indigofera zollingeriana, Zinc, dan Selenium terhadap kadar kalsium darah dan susu sapi perah laktasi. Penelitian menggunakan 20 ekor sapi perah Friesian Holstein dengan usia kebuntingan 7-8 bulan dari BPPIB TSP Bunikasih. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Data dianalisis dengan Uji Sidik Ragam. Perlakuan terdiri dari empat perlakuan yaitu, P0 = 45% Rumput Gajah + 55% Konsentrat, P1 = 45% Rumput Gajah + 40% Konsentrat + 15% I. zollingeriana, P2 = 45% Rumput Gajah + 55% Konsentrat + 40 ppm Zn dan 0,3 ppm Se, P3 = 45% Rumput Gajah + 40% Konsentrat + 15% I. zollingeriana + 40 ppm Zn dan 0,3 ppm Se. Setiap perlakuan memiliki 5 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian I. zollingeriana, Zinc, dan Selenium tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kadar kalsium darah dan susu pada sapi perah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian bahwa pemberian I. zollingeriana, Zinc, dan Selenium tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap kadar kalsium darah dan susu pada sapi perah. Selanjutnya, tidak ditemukan korelasi antara kadar kalsium darah dan susu pada minggu pertama setelah beranak (P>0,05).

Abstract

This aims of this study was to estimate the bodyweight of FH dairy cows from birth to first child by knowing growth patterns and creating a standard curve for dairy cattle growth at BBPTU-HPT Baturraden dairy cow in Baturraden district, Banyumas Regency, Purwokerto, Central Java. Data obtained in the form of secondary data from births in 2005-2016 were 1437 tails and primary data were 353 tails. Data were analyzed using SAS 9.4 program with NLIN procedures (Non-Linear) using Gompertz models. The results show that the Gompertz models is easy in the calculation process with the data deviations that are close to the field of data and the models have a high degree of accuracy with the coefficient of determination (R2 ) 99.83%. The conclusion of this study is that the resulting curve of the Gompertz model can be used as a standard growth curve of Friesian Holstein dairy cattle in Indonesia from birth to first calf.

Abstract

The growth curve is a reflection of the ability of an individual or population to actualize themselves aswell as the size will be the development of the parts of the body until it reaches the maximum size (adult)on the existing environmental conditions. The main goal of this study is to determine the growth curvemodel of Friesian Holstein cattle from birth until ready to mate based on birth rates with Logistic model,Gompertz, and von Bertalanffy. The data was used in this study is the result of the weighing of dairy cowsbody weight of female Friesian Holstein as many as 335 head number collected by PT Taurus Dairy FarmSukabumi from 2001to 2011, which have complete data from birth until first mating with a birth rate thatis different from the birth of the one to five. The data used in the analysis of growth curves using three nonlineargrowth curve model i.e. Logistic models, Gompertz, and Von Bertalanffy. The results obtainedindicate that the growth curve model shave different levels of accuracy, depending on the environment andage or duration of observation, the longer observed to mature weight (A), the age of puberty, and pubertygreater weight. The Conclusion of this study is a model of Logistic close to field conditions. Morover thehigher the birth rate will be heavier birth weight and adult weight. These three non-linear mathematicalmodel used in this study has a high degree of accuracy.

Abstract

Altitude contributes and plays an important role in the development dairy cows in Indonesia. Altitude is directly related to temperature and humidity, both of which affect cardiovascular function and energy metabolism in dairy cattle. The 120 samples, consisted of 4th-5th lactation Friesian Holstein dairy cows were used in this study. The 40 samples of cattle each spread in three maintenance sites with different altitudes, namely 300 to 500 m above sea level (a.s.l.); 600-900 m a.s.l. and >1,000 m a.s.l. All the study sites located in West Java, Indonesia, to study the effect of altitude on the cardiovascular biomarker and lipid regulation in the dairy cow. Based on the result in this experiment showed that the CRP high sensitivity, H-FABP, homocysteine, and γ-Glutamyl Transpeptidase in Frisian Holstein dairy cows expressed higher levels (P <0.05) at low altitude site (300-500 m a.s.l.) than dairy cows at altitude sites higher (600-900 and >1,000 m a.s.l.), These results indicated, these compounds can be biomarkers for cardiovascular function. This study also showed, the lipid regulation also showed higher levels (P <0.05) at low altitude sites than altitude sites higher.

Abstract

The Tunas Mekar Farmer Group (TMFG) is a group of farmers belong to dairy farming cooperation (KSU) Tandangsari with the commodity of Friesian Holstein (FH) dairy cattle whose business objectives are to produce cow's milk and breeding of dairy cows. One of the problems that may have caused the low milk production was the result of the low quality and availability of the forage provided by the KPTM members. It is necessary to look for forage alternatives that have advantages in biomass and protein and fiber content, in the hope that it can help meet the nutritional needs of livestock. One of the forages that has advantages in protein and fiber content is mulato grass (Brachiaria hybrid cv. Mulato) which is reported to have the ability to live in a good dry season, easy to breed through tillers, and quite high palatability by ruminants. This community service is carried out to introduce and disseminate the potential benefits of mulato grass as a potential forage source for dairy cows. Community service activities are carried out with the exploratory stage, then the extension stage, and followed by the mentoring stage using an online platform (Whatsapp group). Community service activities regarding the potential of mulato grass as a forage for dairy cows were successfully implemented. With the enthusiasm of extension participants, extension activities can increase the insight of farmers participating in the extension, reflected in the success of farmers in planting and cultivating mulato grass.

Abstract

This research aims are to identify the birth weight and weight of heifers aged 11 months from each bull that had mate the mother at PT. Ultra Peternakan Bandung Selatan (UPBS). This research used descriptive analysis and one way analysis variance, using SPSS. The data were collected deliberately and in accordance with the completeness of the data, such as pedigree records, livestock identity, names of bulls used, birth weight of heifers, weight of 571 heifers aged 11 months and 22 bulls. The result showed that the average birth weight of heifers (FH) from each bull ranged from 37.78 ± 1.49 kilogram. The average weight of FH aged 11 months from each bull ranged from 302.49 ± 31.73 kilogram. The bull that showed best performance with the highest weight is Coyne PlanetET

Abstract

Pencatatan kesehatan ternak memiliki peran yang vital dalam kegiatan pemeliharaan sapi perah dan produksi susu. Kelompok Peternak Tunas Mekar (KPTM) merupakan salah satu kelompok peternak yang memiliki kegiatan utama produksi susu dan perbibitan ternak sapi perah yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Tanjung Sari, Kabupaten Sumedang. Berdasarkan survei yang telah dilakukan, ditemukan rendahnya kesadaran peternak akan pencatatan pertumbuhan, kesehatan, dan produksi ternak, yang menjadi penyumbang nyata dalam rendahnya tingkat kesehatan ternak dan pada akhirnya berujung pada rendahnya produktivitas. Oleh karenanya, dilakukan penyuluhan dan pendampingan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran pencatatan pertumbuhan, kesehatan, dan produksi ternak. Sebagai pendukung peningkatan kesadaran peternak akan pencatatan, telah dibuat sebuah alat, yaitu kartu menuju sapi sehat (KMSS), yang berguna untuk memudahkan peternak dalam melakukan pencatatan. KMSS terdiri atas tabel pertumbuhan ternak ideal dari waktu ke waktu, sejak dilahirkan hingga kawin pertama. KMSS dirancang untuk dilengkapi secara berkala, kemudian dievaluasi agar peternak bisa membandingkan status pertumbuhan ternaknya dengan status pertumbuhan yang ideal. Usaha untuk meningkatkan kesadaran peternak akan pencatatan ini dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan pendampingan di KPTM. Berdasarkan evaluasi yang dilakukan setelah proses penyuluhan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa para peternak KPTM memiliki peningkatan kesadaran akan pentingnya pencatatan status pertumbuhan, kesehatan, dan produksi ternak. Proses pendampingan dirasa perlu untuk dilanjutkan, sehingga kesadaran akan pencatatan menjadi sebuah budaya yang dapat ditularkan baik kepada peternak lain maupun generasi peternak selanjutnya di dalam KPTM.Kata Kunci: Sapi perah, pertumbuhan, pencatatan, Kartu Menuju Sapi Sehat (KMSS), penyuluhan.

Abstract

Serangkaian kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat telah dilakukan pada bulan Juli sampai dengan November 2019 di Desa Haurngombong Kecamatan Tanjungsari Kabupaten Sumedang. Tujuan dari PPM yang dilaksanakan adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat mengenai manajemen pemeliharaan dan formulasi ransum untuk pedet sapi perah. Sasaran pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah peternak sapi perah anggota kelompok peternak Harapan Jaya di Desa Haurngombong Kecamatan Tanjungsari, Kabupaten Sumedang.  Metode penyuluhan yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan pelatihan. Peserta yang hadir pada kegiatan penyuluhan sebanyak 24 orang terdiri atas peternak dan mahasiswa peserta KKN di desa Haurngombong. Hasil kegiatan disimpulkan bahwa secara umum peternak anggota kelompok Harapan Jaya di desa Haurngombong sangat antusias dalam mengikuti penyuluhan dan limpah keterampilan formulasi ransum pedet dan penerapannya untuk mempercepat pertumbuhan pedet betina kearah bobot badan 325kg.
