Abstract

This research aims at describing the language program based on bī'ah lughawiyah as an Arabic-language medium in improving the ability of Arabic speaking skills (mahārah kalām) undertaken by PUSDIKLAT UNIDA Gontor at the Pesantren Tahfizhul Qur'an SahabatQu, Deresan, Yogyakarta. The main research problem is related to the strategy undertaken by PUSDIKLAT UNIDA Gontor in developing the Arabic language environment. To answer this research question, the method used is descriptive qualitative. Research data sources are the Pesantren manager and students at the Pesantren Tahfizhul Qur'an SahabatQu, Deresan, Yogyakarta. The research used several data collection techniques, interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in qualitative research systematically track and organize field notes obtained from interviews, observations, and other materials so that researchers can report research results. The results showed that PUSDIKLAT UNIDA Gontor had done some strategies in developing the Arabic language environment. The activities of the bī’ah lughawiyah including ilqā' al mufradāts (giving Arabic vocabulary), musyāhadah (watching), language games, Arabic speech, taqdīm al qishah (Arabic drama), Arabic poetry, master of ceremony (MC) Arabic, and muhādatsah. These programs improved the speaking ability of most female students in the Pesantren Tahfizhul Qur'an SahabatQu, Deresan, Yogyakarta, precisely in utilizing Arabic as the daily communication medium and eliminating the rigidity of learners in expressing the contents of their minds.

Abstract

The quality of a nation can be seen from the quality of education applied to it. In an effort to create human resources with noble character, leadership education is needed to form a caliph on this earth. Leadership education has an important role in the life of society and the state because it is the leader who will manage everything in it so that there will be no chaos and disputes between one another. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. While the approach used is a case study approach to intensively study the role of OSMASA as a means of leadership education for male and female students at the Mawaridussalam Islamic Boarding School, this organization is under the guidance of supervisors from each section. The subjects of this study were all male and female students of grade 5 KMI who served as OSMASA administrators. Data collection was carried out through interviews, documentation, and field observations. The results of this study state that OSMASA can be used as a means to improve the leadership spirit of students at the Mawaridussalam Islamic Boarding School. This can be seen from the various 24-hour activities that are organized in such a way and carried out with full discipline and exemplary behavior. Thus, this study aims to determine the role of OSMASA in creating students who are independent, responsible, sensitive to the environment, and have noble character. So that students are expected to be able to become leaders in the future that are useful for the nation and religion.

Abstract

The application of the direct method has become the identity of Arabic learning at Modern Islamic Boarding School Darussalam Gontor. For non-Arabic speakers, learning Arabic using Arabic as the learning destination language and without translating it into the mother tongue. The difficulty and lack of knowledge about Arabic surround the feelings of new students in learning it. The purpose of this research is to assess the efficacy of direct method implementation in Arabic language learning at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 1. This research method uses quantitative experimental methods by holding a pre-test followed by direct method treatment to respondents and ending with a post-test trial. Population from the entire grade 1 study at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor 2023. The sampling technique uses random sampling with a total sample of 43 students. The results of this study aim to determine the effectiveness of the direct method in learning Arabic. Based on the result of the research conducted, there was an increase of 10,47% in post-test assessment after being given direct method treatment. There was an increase in the average pre-test from (6.95) to (8.42) in the post-test score. The results of the hypothesis test show that the significance value is 0.00 where if the value is below 0.05 then there is an effectiveness of the direct method in learning Arabic. On the other hand, Santriwati is very responsive and enthusiastic in learning Arabic using the direct method because some of them like (76.7%) to learn using the direct method than those who do not like (23.3%). From this, it can be concluded that the role of professional teachers armed with knowledge and practice greatly influences the success of the implementation of direct methods in teaching Arabic.

Abstract

The Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR), is a method and tool for measuring a person's language skills by using tests according to special procedures for classifying beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level abilities. Therefore, this measurement tool is one of the researchers' goals: to provide examples of various language tests of beginner's writing skills that are classified according to the CEFR measures at levels A1 and A2. This research will analyze examples of writing skill tests for beginners based on the CEFR method. This research was carried out using a desk study design with reading and writing data sources related to language testing forms based on the CEFR method and scoring techniques using desk research methods. The results of this research indicate that the CEFR method is effective for measuring students' abilities and that the writing skill test models can be classified for beginners.
