Abstract

A survey and exploratory study were conducted to analyze Lake Tempe as a resource for contextual learning (CTL). The first phase of the study included exploring the lake’s potential through interviews with the people who live in the lake’s coastal region. Quadrat transects were done to identify aquatic plants around the lake. A feasibility analysis was conducted to see the lake’s potential as a learning resource. Field data were collected and compared to the environmental biology (EB) curriculum, responses, and learning outcome. The data were analyzed descriptively and tested using a paired-sample t-test. The results showed differences in the three stations’ physicochemical parameters and decreased quality of the water. It was found that anthropogenic activity had a significant contribution to the lake’s pollution. Nine species of six aquatic plant families were found in the lake. The survey revealed that the lake was feasible as a learning resource with criteria easy to access, safety, time efficiency, costs, and the material's suitability for EB courses. The t-test showed a difference in the students’ scores between before and after exploration practices. These findings suggest that Lake Tempe can serve as a resource for CTL in EB courses.

Abstract

Estrogen-α (ER-α) is a major target in cancer therapy. Targeting the ER-α target protein is known to slow the proliferation of breast cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction of the complex compound Zn(II)Prolinedithiocarbamate against the Estrogen-α Receptor. The Zn(II)Prolinedithiocarbamate complex was predicted canonical SMILE by Cheminfo online application (O=C(O)C1CCCN1C2S[Zn]S2) and modeled with online corina to obtain a three-dimensional structure. The structure of the complex compound Zn(II)Prolinedithiocarbamate interacted with Estrogen receptor alpha protein to test its potential anticancer activity. Molecular docking results show the interaction of the Zn(II)Prolinedithiocarbamate complex with the Estrogen- receptor on the amino acid residues ARG394, LEU387, GLU353, LEU346, LEU349, and PHE404. The Zn(II)Prolinedithiocarbamate complex interacts directly with ER-α in the estrogen region which causes the failure of the interaction between estrogen and the estrogen receptor, so it can be predicted that the Zn complex has activity as an ER-α inhibitor and has the potential to be developed in the treatment of breast cancer.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the effect of planting media of coconut husk and teak sawdust on the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium (Pleurotus ostreatus) and its implementation on fungi class X SMA. The data analysis used was ANOVA and BNJ tests. This study used 4 treatments, namely P0 as much as 1000 grams of bran, P1 as much as 700 grams of teak wood powder + 300 grams of bran, P2 as much as 700 grams of coconut fiber + 300 grams of bran, P3 as much as 350 grams of coconut husk + 350 grams of teak wood powder + 300 grams bran. The results showed that the planting media of coconut husk and teak sawdust on the growth of the white oyster mushroom mycelium (Pleurotus ostreatus) did not significantly affect the initial time of growth with the fastest mycelium growth in Treatment P3 which is day 4 HSI, no significant effect on the length of the mycelium with an average of 19.5 cm in the P3 treatment and significantly affected the mycelium fulfillment time in the P1 treatment, which is day 49 HSI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media tanam sabut kelapa dan serbuk kayu jati terhadap pertumbuhan miselium jamur tiram putih (Pleurotus ostreatus) dan implementasinya pada materi fungi kelas X SMA. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji anova dan BNJ. Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 perlakuan yaitu P0 sebanyak 1000 gr dedak, P1 sebanyak 700 gr serbuk kayu jati + 300 gr dedak, P2 sebanyak 700 gr sabut kelapa + 300 gr dedak, P3 sebanyak 350 gr sabut kelapa + 350 gr serbuk kayu jati + 300 gr dedak. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Media tanam sabut kelapa dan serbuk kayu jati pada pertumbuhan miselium P. ostreatus) tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap waktu awal tumbuh dengan pertumbuhan miselium tercepat pada Perlakuan P3 yaitu hari ke-4 HSI, tidak berpengaruh signifikan pada panjang miselium dengan rata-rata 19,5 cm pada perlakuan P3 dan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap waktu pemenuhan miselium pada perlakuan P1 yaitu hari ke-49 HSI. Kata Kunci: bahan ajar, sabut kelapa, Pleurotus ostreatus, serbuk Kayu Jati DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v9i2.22784

Abstract

This study aims to identify weeds in the village of Conko as a learning module development material. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that there were 8 families that could be found in this study, namely Sonchus Arvensis (Tempuyung), Amaranthus Spinosus (Bayam Duri), Peperomia Pellucida (Suruhan), Aregatum Conyzoides (Bandotan), E.Hirta (Patikan Kebo), Mimosa Pudica (Putri Malu), Phyllanthus Urinaria (Meniran), dan Cyperus Rotundus (Rumput Teki) all of these 8 plants have the potential as medicine that can be used as a contribution to learning materials at school, namely in the form of modules that can be used by students as learning media on biodiversity learning materials in schools class X SMA / MA.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tumbuhan gulma yang ada di desa Congko sebagai bahan pengembangan modul pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa  Terdapat 8 famili yang dapat ditemukan pada penelitian ini yaitu Sonchus Arvensis (Tempuyung), Amaranthus Spinosus (Bayam Duri), Peperomia Pellucida (Suruhan), Aregatum Conyzoides (Bandotan), E.Hirta (Patikan Kebo), Mimosa Pudica (Putri Malu), Phyllanthus Urinaria (Meniran), dan Cyperus Rotundus (Rumput Teki) yang ke 8 tanaman tersebut semuanya berpotensi sebagai obat yang dapat dijadikan sumbangsih untuk materi pembelajaran di sekolah yaitu berupa modul yang dapat digunakan siswa sebagai media pembelajaran pada materi pembelajaran keanekaragaman hayati di kelas X SMA/MA. Kata kunci: Gulma, Keanekaragaman Hayati, Modul, Obat DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v10i1.24041

Abstract

Abstract: This study attempted to develop and know the effectiveness of PBL module for biotechnology concepts intended for high school students. Brog and Gall model was referred as the framework to develop the product. It comprises some stages, namely, analyzing potential and problems, collecting information, developing the module’s initial design, validating the design, revising the design, and trying out the product. The appointed experts in product development and learning as well as high school biology teachers in Biology Teachers’ Association (MGMP) validated the product. The validation showed that the product is practical and valid to be used. The module is also effective for learning, as evidenced by the PBL activities reaching “high” category and by the improvement of the students’ cognitive domain represented in the improvement of the initial average score.Key Words:  problem-based learning module, cognitive learning outcomes, biotechnology conceptsAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengetahui efektivitas modul pembelajaran berbasis masalah untuk SMA pada konsep Bioteknologi. Model pengembangan merujuk dari Brog dan Gall. Tahapan pengembangan terdiri atas analisis potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan informasi, penyusunan desain awal modul, validasi desain, revisi desain, dan ujicoba produk. Validasi produk dilakukan oleh Pakar Pengembangan, Pembelajaran dan guru Biologi SMA melalui kegiatan Musyarawah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Biologi. Hasil penilaian pakar menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan valid dan praktis untuk digunakan. Modul ini juga efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran, aktivitas PBL mencapai kategori “tinggi”, serta meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik.Kata kunci:  modul pembelajaran berbasis masalah, hasil belajar kognitif, konsep bioteknologi

Abstract

The diversity of low-level plants has been known for a long time and until now studies on lower-level plants are still being studied and increasingly being developed. Therefore, this study aims to identify the diversity of low-level plants in Labae village which can be used as a source of material for developing contextual-based modules in the village of Labae. plantae material in class X Senior High School (SHC). This study uses a survey method with exploratory techniques, namely research conducted by exploring areas where lower plants can be found by setting more thoroughly or thoroughly in a study. From the results of the study, it was found that there were 6 Thallophyta species from the fungal division, 3 Bryophyta species, and 8 Pteridophyta species. These low-level plant species will later be used in the development of contextual-based teaching materials in the form of modules for Plantae material in class X SHC. Keywords: Exploration, Module, Low Level Plants

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah pada saat proses pembelajaran peserta didik dalam menerima dan menyerap pembelajaran biologi lebih banyak diam dan enggan untuk berbicara apabila menemukan kesulitan dan kurang mengerti dengan penjelasan guru, apabila guru memberikan pertanyaan peserta didik ragu dalam menjawab pertanyaan, dan terkadang dalam proses pembelajaran peserta didik merasa malas, cepat bosan, cepat lelah dan kurang adanya perhatian sehingga menyebabkan rendahnya hasil belajar peserta didik. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk peningkatan hasil dan minat belajar biologi dengan penerapan model pembelajaran take and give pada peserta didik kelas X MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 7 Soppeng. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 7 Soppeng tahun ajaran 2020/2021 yang berjumlah 14 orang siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus. Setiap siklus dilaksanakan dua kali pertemuan. Proses pembelajaran setiap pertemuan dirancang dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran take and give. Pada akhir siklus I yaitu pertemuan ke tiga dan akhir siklus II pertemuan ke enam dilakukan pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan tes hasil belajar di ambil hasil evaluasi setiap siklus. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis kuantitatif. Instrumen yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi minat peserta didik dan soal tes hasil belajar dalam bentuk soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran take and give dapat meningkatkan hasil dan minat belajar biologi peserta didik pada kelas X MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 7 Soppeng.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan lembar kerja mata kuliah Biologi Laut dan untuk mengetahui peningkatan sikap ilmiah mahasiswa STKIP Puangrimaggalatung Sengkang melalui pengembangan lembar kerja mata kuliah Biologi Laut. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar kerja mata kuliah Biologi Laut sedangkan responden penelitian adalah 30 mahasiswa dan 2 dosen mata kuliah Biologi Laut (observer dan validator). Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan penilaian sikap ilmiah dan tiga kali tes untuk hasil belajar mahasiswa yaitu pretest sebelum pembelajaran, posttest I setelah pembelajaran tanpa lembar kerja dan posttest II setelah pembelajaran dengan lembar kerja. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa angket validasi materi dan desain, angket persepsi mahasiswa, lembar observasi penilaian sikap ilmiah dan tes uraian tertulis.Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data validasi materi dan desain diperoleh dari penilaian dosen mata kuliah Biologi Laut, data persepsi mahasiswa diperoleh dari tanggapan mahasiswa, data sikap ilmiah diperoleh dari hasil pengamatan observer I dan observer II saat pembelajaran berlangsung dan data hasil belajar diperoleh dari tes uraian tertulis mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Lembar kerja Biologi Laut yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi sebanyak 87,87% dengan kategori sangat layak, ahli media sebanyak 82,14% dengan kategori sangat layak dan tanggapan setuju mahasiswa sebanyak 90%. (2) Pengembangan lembar kerja mata kuliah Biologi Laut mampu meningkatkan sikap ilmiah mahasiswa STKIP Puangrimaggalatung Sengkang. Hal ini terbukti dari rata-rata persentase hasil penelitian sikap ilmiah sebelum penggunaan lembar kerja sebanyak 56% dan setelah penggunaan lembar kerja sebanyak 83,04%.Kata Kunci: Pengembangan bahan ajar, Lembar Kerja (Worksheet), Biologi Laut,  Sikap Ilmiah.

Abstract

Metacognitive skills are one of the abilities required in the twenty-first century, to achieve independent learning. However, these skills still need to review whether these skills have been empowered by educators, particularly in universities. This research was aimed at determining the metacognitive skill profile of Biology Education students at the Institute of Teachers’ Education in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This research used a descriptive quantitative method. The population of this research was all the students of the Biology Education Study Program at the non-state Institute of Teachers’ Education in South Sulawesi. The samples of this research were 356 Biology Education students in the second semester who programmed the Environmental Science course in the 2020/2021 academic year. The instrument used in this research was an essay test to measure students’ metacognitive skills in the Environmental Science course. The results of the data analysis indicate that the students’ metacognitive skills are in the category of undeveloped as much as 89.27%. Therefore, some efforts to improve students’ metacognitive skills are required by those institutes through the implementation of a learning model which can empower the metacognitive skills of the prospective Biology teacher students.
