Abstract

Sampah merupakan barang tidak berguna yang harus dihabiskan/dikurangi karena menganggu kehidupan lingkungan. Menurut sifatnya ada dua jenis sampah yaitu dapat terbakar dan tidak dapat terbakar, kalau dibakar menghasilkan abu yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk tanaman, sedangkan yang tidak terbakar perlu daur ulang. Budaya masyarakat kebanyakan belum memperhatikan kesehatan lingkungan sehingga membuang sampah sembarangan, terutama sampah organik dan platik, terlihat di sepanjang jalan banyak sampah berserakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang, membuat dan menguji kereta pembakar sampah yang dapat didorong di jalanan. Kereta pembakar sampah diharapkan dapat memisahkan abu sisa pembakaran (tempat pembakar dibuat tirus bercelah), bertemperatur tinggi, panasnya terpusat (ditutup dengan pelat besi, serta cerobong asap diatasnya) dan dapat menelusuri jalanan (memakai roda). Untuk dapat mempertahankan temperatur yang tinggi (dimasukkan kayu yang menyisakan bara apabila dibakar). Sisa pembakaran pun tidak memerlukan lahan pengumpul dimana sampah plastik memerlukan waktu lama untuk lapuk menjadi tanah (50-100 tahun). Hasil pengujian memperlihatkan bahwa 15 kg sampah dapat terbakar dalam jangka waktu 1 jam, dengan temperatur berkisar antara 500-620 oC, abu sisa pembakaran 1,1 kg dengan kondisi yang cukup bersih dari sisa pembakaran. Radiasi sebaran panas tidak terlalu mengganggu dimana tanaman berjarak satu meter tidak menjadi layu, sedangkan asap dapat mengalir pada ketinggian dua meter lebih.

Abstract

Tumbuhan eceng gondok yang menyebar hampir ke seluruh embung atau perairan Kayu Tanduak mengakibatkan para petani di masyarakat sepenulisr kekurangan atau kehilangan air, sehingga eceng gondok menghambat aliran irigasi sawah dan ladang. Masalah pertumbuhan eceng gondok yang pesat ini memberikan dampak langsung kepada pendapatan hasil panen baik ladang atau sawah yang berkurang. Program Pengabdian bagi Masyarakat ini mempunyai tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat sasaran tentang pengolahan eceng gondok menjadi biogas. Masyarakat yang menjadi sasaran pada kegiatan ini adalah Ibu-Ibu PKK Jorong Kayu Tanduak pada khususnya dan masyarakat sepenulisr Jorong Kayu Tanduak. Metode yang digunakan dalam melakukan pengabdian ini adalah (1) sosialisasi tentang pengolahan eceng gondok menjadi biogas, (2) pelatihan pembuatan alat biogas dari eceng gondok, (3) melakukan penyebaran kuisioner sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan tentang pengetahuan tentang pembuatan alat biogas dari eceng gondok. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif kepada Ibu-Ibu PKK ini antara lain : (1) Peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang pengolahan eceng gondok menjadi biogas yang diketahui dari hasil penyebaran angket sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan, (2) tersebarnya informasi tentang pemanfaatan eceng gondok menjadi biogas dari jorong Kayu Tanduak Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Kata kunci: Eceng Gondok, Biogas, Jorong Kayu Tanduak ABSTRACT The plant of water hyacinth which spread throughout reservoir or water pool in Kayu Tanduk has made the farmers surrounding become lack or loss of water. Water hyacinth has also affected the flow of irrigation for rice fields and fields. The rapid growth problem of water hyacinth gives direct impact to the farmers harvest income in the rice fileds and fields. This community service program (PKM) is purposed to increase the knowledge and craftsmanship for villagers and society about how to process water hyacinth into biogas.The main target community in this program is the mothers of empowering family welfare group (PKK) at Kayu Tanduak and the society of its surrounding. The methods used in this program are 1) socialization to society how to process it,2) giving training to society how to make biogas tools,3) distributing the questionnaires to society in order to see how far their undesrstanding about the water hyacinth process into biogas before training and after training.This activity give positive impacts to the mothers of empowering family welfare (PKK), they are: 1) there is an increasing of their knowledge and craftsmanship about how to process water hyacinth into biogas. It can be seen from the result of the questionnaires before and after training. 2) The spread information to society about the utilizing water hyacinth process into biogas is increased especially in the village of Kayu Tanduk Tanah Datar. Abstract

Compost has some advantages, improving soil physical properties, chemical properties, and biological properties. It happens because its characteristics contain nutrients in varying types and amounts depending on the original material, provide nutrients slowly (slow release) and in limited quantities, and have the main function of improving soil fertility and health. The pile of organic waste from the Koto Baru market directly impacts the environment to their community. This Community Service Program aims to increase the knowledge and skills of target communities about processing vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market into the solid and liquid-friendly environment of organic fertilizers. The target people of this activity were PKK Jorong Subarang Nagari Koto Baru women in particular and people who wrote Jorong Subarang Nagari Koto Baru. The methods used in this service were socialization of the processing of vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market into the solid and liquid-solid and liquid friendly environment of organic fertilizers, distribution of practical manuals for assembling tools for making solid and liquid organic fertilizer from vegetable waste, distributing initial questionnaires to online socialization. This activity had positive impacts on these PKK women, including providing knowledge of PKK women about the use of organic vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market to become a POP friendly environment and POC, the dissemination of information on the use of vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market became a solid and liquid friendly environmental of organic fertilizer in Jorong Subarang Nagari Koto Baru, Tanah Datar Regency.

Abstract

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake and Tsunami issue that hit Padang City in 2009 caused Bung Hatta University to move its Campus to the Aie Pacah area, which is the green belt for the Tsunami. Results in the loss of income of people who have boarding rooms. Especially the RT 002RW 005 Housekeeping Group Wisma Wisma Warta Ulak Karang Padang, which located near the entrance of the campus. Because many boarding rooms left by students who moved to move near the new university. The purpose of this service is to increase community income by utilizing vacant rooms as a place/land for the cultivation of ear mushroom cultivation (Auricularia auricula). The method of carrying out this activity is training at the backlog maintenance stage, without preparing to make backlogs, the backlog is purchased from backlog artisans to accelerate the return of capital, bookkeeping training, business management training such as packaging, brands and business licenses. This community service program, in the third week, has been able to make money and increase the income of this group, replacing the boarding house/boarding house—fresh ear mushrooms sold per kg of Rp. 100,000 The group's ear mushroom brand is "S'ARICULA" (Fresh and Processed Ear Mushroom). This Community Service Program can solve problems with this group.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini menguji kualitas air pada sumber air tanah yang ditinjau daribeberapa parameter kimia yaitu suhu, pH dan kandungan Besi (Fe) dimana air tersebutdigunakan untuk keperluan sehari-hari pada asrama dan perkantoran kampus UnivesitasMuhammadiyah Sumatera Barat Padang. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan carasampling purposif dimana titik yang diambil sebanyak 5 titik dengan jarak satu sama lainsekitar lebih kurang 150 m. Pengujian kandungan logam besi sesuai dengan SNI:06-6989.4-2009. Hasil analisa dari kualitas air tanah di kampus Universitas Muhammadiyah SumateraBarat yaitu : 1) Analisa parameter suhu berkisar antara 26-28 oC dan masih berada dibawahstandar baku mutu Depkes. 2) Analisa parameter pH untuk semua titik 7. 3) Analisa parameterkadar besi secara umum masih berada dibawah ambang batas yaitu 0,099-0,474 mg/L. Datayang didapatkan diharapkan dapat menjadi informasi yang berharga bagi penduduk yangberada di lokasi penelitian.Kata kunci : parameter kimia, kandungan logam, kualitas air

Abstract

Since two decades ago, the innovations of many gifted analysts have brought us to a new era phase in chromatography, i.e., monolithic materials, both silica- or polymer-based. These materials have high permeability, no need to frits preparation and fast mass transfer. In this research, polymer monolithic columns were used for separation of inorganic cations by using contactless conductivity detector. Glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate (PEGDMA) were used as monomer and crosslinker. Methanol and decanol were used as binary porogenic solvents. The monolith columns were prepared by two-step procedures: polymerization and sulfonation of GMA. This polymer monolitic column could separate lithium, sodium and rubidium with the5mMMSA in 50% methanol as eluent.     Keywords: polymer monolithic column, contacless conductivity detector,separation of inorganic cations

Abstract

The Batang Agam Hydroelectric Power Plant is a run of river type plant that has water purification stages before being used to turn a turbine generator. One of them is a sand pool that functions to deposit sand, mud and impurities carried by river water, where the drainage condition is currently experiencing some damage so it needs to be developed in the hoisting system of the fixed valve drain using a hydraulic lifting system and this requires initial analysis in the form of fixed valve loading at optimum conditions which then becomes the basis for determining the hydraulic cylinder.The research methodology in this writing includes field observations accompanied by a literature review. With the data obtained, we then analyze the optimum load on the Batang Agam hydropower fixed valve drain to be a reference in planning hydraulic cylinders as a hoisting system for the Sand pool fixed valve drain.From this final project, it can be concluded that the optimum load of the Batang Agam fixed valve drain at an elevation of 684.5 meters above sea level of 10472.95 kg equivalent to 10 tons is a conditional situation in the rainy season, and a medium load at an elevation of 683.7 meters above sea level of 9039.04 kg equivalent to 9 tons, Based on the calculation of hydraulic cylinder power at the optimum load obtained Ø cylindrical tube 360 mm, medium load obtained Ø cylindrical tube 320 mm.

Abstract

The water problem occurs in RT 001/RW 013 Pasie Nan Tigo Padang because they still use water ground source to fulfill their daily needs. From 30 families in RT 001/RW 013 Pasie Nan Tigo 70% of the society still have well water containing turbid, sands, and unpleasant odors. They don’t consume well water for drinking but for washing only. To fulfill their daily drinks, they must buy gallon water. Based on this problem, we offer the solution to help them to improve water sources by applying PKM (service for society) to make the procurement of clean water. Therefore, we gave them soft skill training by giving knowledge about the materials of natural and artificial purifying and hard skill training by giving the practical training about how to make the water purifying equipments. The activity focuses on the society of RT 001/RW 013 who have turbid water in their house by distributing the questionnaires before and after activity was done. The questionnaires are mostly about the society’s knowledge of water purification. There is an increasing to the society’s knowledge and skills on how to make simply water purification. The quality was increased since no turbid, no sands, and no unpleasant odors anymore after purification.

Abstract

Women from Sikucur Barat are economically unproductive because they generally can’t support their family income. Sikucur Barat produces many coconuts and is supposed to become a chance for the women to have side income and women who belong to PKK’s group. In fact the family can’t rely on their life from coconut since the price is getting low only Rp.1.000. It makes the people let the coconut fall down on the ground without collecting them. This condition happens because they are unable to cover the transportation fee if sold to other cities such as Padang or Pekanbaru. Besides, the people don’t have knowledge on how to process the coconut becomes the highest quality product such as Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). Based on this problem, we try to do PKM (Service for Society) by giving training how to make right VCO, branding it, and Depkes (Health Department) permit for PKK’s women in Sikucur Barat village. Thus, we hope it can become a new entrepreneur to support their income and increase the knowledge and the skills of the society of PKK’s group in Sikucur Barat village. We spread the questionnaires and got the result that about 89,4% of the society’s income increased

Abstract

Air tanah merupakan sumber air yang digunakan oleh Panti Asuhan Aisyiyah Cabang Koto Tangah Kota Padang untuk keperluan sehari-hari seperti: wudhu, cuci, mandi dan kakus. Sayangnya, masalah air sumur di panti asuhan ini adalah air kualitas rendah dengan ciri-ciri fisik tampak keruh dan berbau, serta menimbulkan bercak kuning kemerahan pada dinding dan lantai kamar mandi yang diprediksi akibat kadar besi (Fe) dan mangan (Mn) yang berlebih pada air tersebut. Dari permasalahan diatas, maka diperlukan solusi untuk membantu pengelolaan air di Panti Asuhan tersebut, berupa usaha pemberdayaan mitra melalui peningkatan pengetahuan tentang jenis-jenis penjernihan air dan foto-foto pemasangan filter air akan mengolah air di panti asuhan ini. Kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah sosialisasi tentang metode penjernihan secara alami dan buatan, video pembuatan alat pengolahan air kurang layak menjadi air bersih, dan melakukan penyebaran kuisioner awal dan akhir sosialisasi, dimana terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan mitra tentang pengolahan air bersih dari 22% menjadi 64,62%
