Abstract

Corn is one of the main agricultural plant commodities in Gunung Kidul regency especially Saptosari village because this area has high result potential and production of corn. That high potential is in line with its high waste produced such as its leaves, stalks, cobs, and husks. To date, the leaves and stalks are corn wastes that have been used as fresh cattle feed, while the cobs are only thrown away or burnt. In fact, all corn wastes can be used as dry cattle feed that can be stored. The potential to process corn waste is important by noting the number of cattle in Saptosari village and Gunung Kidul regency in general to meet the high demand of cattle feed. This type of cattle feed is very needed in dry season due to the shortage of fresh cattle feed. As a result, there is a need to have a society empowerment activity in Saptosari village especially in Tukuk hamlet aimed at developing the society’s skills to process corn waste into cattle feed. The method of empowerment activity was done in stages that include socialization, training, and waste processing practicum. The success of society empowerment activity that was implemented is shown by the increasing knowledge and skills of the society in processing the corn waste into cattle feed. The most significant finding is that the society is very enthusiastic in processing the corn waste into cattle feed shown by self-procurement of corn waste crusher machine.

Abstract

The Regency of Kulon Progo has tourism and agriculture potentials. The same condition also applies to Jatimulyo village which is one of the villages in Kulon Progo. Jatimulyo has a good agriculture potential, such as aren (sugar palm). Jatimulyo has recently been developing after the access from the village to the city center had become better. As such, the society of the area needs to be encouraged to better improve. The society’s potential that can be developed is business with the basis of processed agricultural products. To realize the goal, various society’s empowerment programs are held to promote the society’s awareness on distribution method so that their agricultural products can be competitive and can gain optimum profit. The programs are held through the methods of counseling, recitation, and a provision of stimulating fund. The results from the counseling given to mosque basis partners are transfer of knowledge on the urgency of processed agricultural products, farming group at Gunung Kelir, and variations of processed agricultural products.

Abstract

People with diabetes mellitus in Gunungkidul are increasing in number. This is caused by excessive consumption of flour-based foods. Communities need to be introduced to alternative food substitutes for flour such as cassava. Besides being able to reduce flour consumption in the community, training and education about non-flour snacks can also increase the income of less productive housewives. The purpose of this activity is to provide education about the dangers of consuming foods containing excessive flour and to train in making flour and food from non-wheat alternative ingredients to ladies of Aisyiyah members in ladies Gunungkidul area. The series of service activities was carry out in the form of counseling on food security and healthy food. The second activity was in the form of training in making flour substitute flour and non-flour processed foods. The evaluation phase was in the form of filling out questionnaires by participants. The results of this activisay are processed foods made from non-modified flour and improved knowledge and skills of the participants

Abstract

Lack of knowledge of the elderly in maintaining health in facing old age causes many health problems in the elderly. The goal to be achieved in mentoring is that the elderly in the Posyandu Lansia (Integrated Healthcare Center for the Elderly) of the Kauman village of Yogyakarta can improve their health knowledge of the elderly as an effort to live healthily, so as to increase the life expectancy of the healthy and productive elderly people. The end of the mentoring is expected that all elderly participants can find out what is happening to the health of the elderly as an effort to live a healthy life. The material presented in this activity includes knowledge about healthy elderly people, diseases and risk factors that occur in the elderly, as well as nutrition and healthy food for the elderly by using case study methods, consultation for healthy living, and the practice of maintaining physical health. Other activities carried out in increasing knowledge in realizing healthy elderly people are by increasing awareness of the elderly to carry out health checks including blood pressure, blood sugar levels, uric acid, and cholesterol and elderly exercise. The results obtained are knowledge and skills for healthy and productive living procedures for the elderly.

Abstract

The doers of micro small medium enterprises (UMKM) of Subdistrict Branch Office of Aisyiyah (PCA) in North Purwokerto have limited understanding and skills in the evaluation of management performance and financial management. These activities aim to improve the competence of the doers of micro small medium enterprises (UMKM) of PCA in North Purwokerto on the business development based on business feasibility study. The participants joining the accompaniment of the evaluation of management performance and financial management competence were 24 people. The methods used in the accompaniment were theory exposure and case study, business consultation, and the practice of the formulation of business feasibility study-based enterprises in groups. The results of the accompaniment show that the knowledge of the doers of micro small medium enterprises (UMKM) on the aspect of management and finance based on the business feasibility study improves.

Abstract

The high number of elderly people in Dagen Hamlets, Pendowoharjo, Bantul requires special highlight, especially regarding the health care. This urgency is due to the fact that elderly people generally have accessibility limitations in addition to the remote location of health facilities. Therefore, health service which is practical and easy-to-reach/access by the elderly people needs to be managed to take place. The society empowerment effort, especially towards elderly people, was conducted step-by-step, involving socializations, trainings, practices, and local health service facility establishment. The success indicator achieved in this empowerment activities is shown by the improvement of people’s awareness, especially the elderly ones, towards the significance of health, health service post visitation intensity, and the development of the non-governmental health service facility.

Abstract

Mi Lethek  (Lethek Noodle) is made from Bantul original cassava. Its selling creation and packaging are potentially developed. The objective to develop Mi Lethek noodle is to increase the added value and selling value of Bantul’s superior culinary product. The method used was providing training and coaching on the selling tips and creative packaging, monitoring and evaluation towards the producers and the management. The results obtained are the producer label establishment of Mi Lethek Asli Bendo with Garuda brand, the noodle product with new packaging, and online marketing media.

Abstract

The elderly people’s lifetime requires attentions, especially those related to the health in order that healthy and joyful lifestyle could be achieved. Healthy and joyful life quality for elderly people is expected to bring improvement towards life expectancy. Therefore, effort in improving the life quality of elderly people needs to be taken into account. The implementation of community service program, particularly the one addressed to the elderly people aims to: 1) perform the selection of cognitive function and elderly people’s mood situation; and 2) follow up the selection results. The implementation method was conducted step-by-step, which was through the selection of cognitive function and elderly people’s mood situation using Abbreviated Mental Test (AMT), whereas Workshop Husnul Khatimah Care (Hukho Care) was implemented for the selection results follow-up. AMT was used to measure the psychological condition and memory disorders; it was implemented through interview given to each of the elderly people. The Workshop Hukho Care was conducted through education as well as small and big group discussion. The result shows that 9% of the elderly people suffer from depression, 19% unstable, and 27% suffer from moderate memory disorder. Those who suffer from depression, psychologically unstable, and moderate memory disorders are entirely female. Female elderly people who are depressed, psychologically unstable and having moderate memory disorder shall require supports and attention from family, Puskesmas (Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat/Public Health Center), and local health department.

Abstract

SS. M.J Local Black Honey home production. In Pijoan Jaluko Village, Muaro Jambi Municipality is one of the black honey producers that is potentially developed to be more comparative and competitive. The development of prospective processed honey product is as health product in the form of ointment that is highly needed by people, considering that such product is not in the market yet. The development of processed honey product into health ointment by SS. M.J Local Black Honey home production has several limitations namely lacking knowledge and skill on processing, business capital, and marketing. Thus, efforts for empowerment are needed with step by step methods namely socialization, training, practice, and market meet. The success of this empowering activity is shown from the capability of SS. MJ. Local Black Honey home production to produce processed product in the form of Forest Honey Ointment, the knowledge of business capital development method, and the ability to market the product after getting license from BPOM.

Abstract

This community service activity aims at developing skills for elementary school (SD) teachers of Muhammadiyah Sirojuddin in using information technology media, namely Microsoft Excel to process the data of the assessment result to the report in accordance with curriculum 2013. The method used was through information technology training divided into three stages, namely: (1) description making of each grade on the fields of affective, cognitive, and psychomotor; (2) submitting grade of affective, cognitive, and psychomotor fields; (3) converting grade from number to descriptive form. The community service was carried out in six times of meetings with 17 teachers of SD Muhammadiyah Sirojuddin. The result of the service community are 15 teachers are helped in understanding curriculum 2013 and grade conversion process based on Microsoft Excel program. The result of the descriptive grade is the one that will be benefitted by the teachers as data input in the report in accordance with curriculum 2013.
