INOVISH JOURNAL: Journal of Language and Innovation and English Language Teaching is committed to exploring the broad areas of language, creativity and innovation using language as a medium of information and highlighting issues in ELT. The journal is published twice a year (June and December) presenting articles containing creativity and innovations using language in producing products , analyses, studies, application of theories, research report, material development, teaching and learning languages and reviews. Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the efficiency of teaching Indonesian to foreign students via an online platform. 10 university students from Madagascar University participated in the 1-month Indonesian language course that took place from September 12th to October 8th, 2022. Despite the limitations of the online learning setting, the students were eager to learn and took part in the program. The researchers utilized a combination of Zoom, a puzzle game, and a quizzing tool to support the learning process. A mixed method approach was employed to analyze the data collected. The aim of the study was to gauge the students' perceptions and attitudes towards the online Indonesian language learning process. The results indicate that the online Indonesian language learning approach that involved Zoom, the puzzle game, and the quizzing tool was effective in promoting satisfaction, comfort, and improvement in language skills among the majority of the students.

Abstract

the Covid-19 pandemic insists face-to-face learning on campus be switched to online or e-learning. However, radical changes are challenging for both educators and students.. This study aims at finding students’ preferences toward online English Language Learning and teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic. The participants of the study were 54 Language Department students at the State Polytechnic of Bengkalis. The research was conducted in a descriptive method. Data and information were gathered through a 5-point Likert scale Google form survey adapted from Coman, et.al (2020). The questionnaire covered students’ technical condition, students’ technical skills / learning styles, lecturers’ technical skills / teaching styles, student’s ability to assimilate and learn while learning online. The data were analyzed using Statistical analysis application; The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to provide descriptive statistics. The study discovered that video conference platforms were the most preferable in online learning, and live video conference and discussion on chat/forums were the most favorable ones. It was also found that the satisfaction level toward online learning was low; face-to-face learning is still the most favorable. In addition, improvement on students’ technical condition, students’ technical skills / learning styles, lecturers’ technical skills / teaching styles were still needed. Therefore, appropriate utilization of video conference and forum discussion was a necessity. Finally, it is recommended to provide both lecturers’ and students’ training programs to promote better online learning and teaching.Keywords:Online learning; teaching ; pandemic

Abstract

This study was carried out to implement bilingual flashcards method in Fiqh learning, especially during a pandemic to the first grade students at SDNU Sleman Yogyakarta. This research method is classroom action research (CAR). The data was collected using pretest and post test which were then processed using the SPSS v.22 application. The results of these data indicate that the average change of both, before using flashcard media is 49.44 while after using flashcards media is 86.66. The increase in the average indicates a very good result. While the result of significance (tailed2) is 0.00 less than 0.05 so that it shows a significant difference between the two variables and shows a significant effect on the difference in treatment between the two variables.

Abstract

The aim of this research is making subtitling of Dedap Durhaka Legendary Video. The method used in this study was descriptive. In subtitling the video, the techniques of translation used in subtitling were word for word, literal and adaptation. The duration of the video was 24 minutes 53 second. There were several processes in making the English subtitle. They are collecting the materials, writing the script of video, translating the video and the last process was inserting the subtitle to video. The result of this study was about subtitling of Dedap Durhaka Lgendary Video. Based on the evaluation result, this subtitle can help to get students interest in learning English and make foreigners know the contents of video by reading the English subtitle.
