Abstract

The state of Indonesia is an agrarian country, most of its livelihoods are farming. In Indonesia, corn is one of the food ingredients that the government recommends because it sees the huge need of rice. The government made efforts to realize the self-sufficiency of corn production in North Sumatra Province. For that Prediction of corn production development is needed to know the expected target is achieved. Corn production prediction is done using linear trend line formula and data taken in the form of corn production data from 2005 until 2015. North corn maize production until 2015 continues to experience enhancement. Total corn production is 12,369,482 tons, and total corn consumption until 2015 is 690.363 tons. There was a surplus of 10,679,119 tons. Based on the prediction result until 2020 maize production is 8,382,273 tons and corn consumption is 344,990 tons, so the surplus is 8,037,283 tons. This surplus occurs because the corn demand for the industry has not been taken into account.Keyword : Prediction, Maize Production, Linear Trend Line

Abstract

This research is to know the level of population of tanag worms with some ways of land preparation and weed management in Deli Serdang, Karo, Simalungun Regency. This research was conducted in three places, namely Deli Serdang, Karo and Simalungun District of North Sumatera Province, from July to September 2013. The observation of earthworms was done by quadratic and Hand Sortir method, plot plots were made with frame measuring 30 x 30 cm, soil sampling as deep as 20 cm in each frame then put into container. Sampling starts from 7:00 to 10:00 pm then land is sorted to get earthworms. Earthworms that can be collected and cleaned are then counted and then put into a bottle sample container and preserved with 70% alcohol then the underground worm sample below to the Systematic Laboratory of FMIPA USU to be identified and counted the number of individuals of each species found (Sumi, 1997). The soil worms that have been preserved by using 70% alcohol are first grouped according to their species then determined and identified by morphology using a microscope. Data analysis The type of earthworm and the number of individuals of each type obtained were calculated Population density, Relative density of each type of Attendance and Composition Frequency. The results of the research and identification done on land preparation and weed management on the land in Simalungun, Deli Serdang and Karo regencies are found in the Simalungun Regency there are 2 families: Glossoscoleadae (species Pontoscolex and Megascolex) and Megascolecidae (Megascolex species). In Kabupaten Deli Serdang there is one family Megascolecidae (species Megascolex) and Karo there is 1 family Megascolecidae (species Peryonix)

Abstract

The research was conducted in Pematang Cengal Barat Village, Tanjung Pura Sub-district, Langkat Regency, to identify and know the availability of production input, business management system, the amount of business income and the contribution of the broiler duck business income to the overall income which also works as rice farmer. The research area is determined purposively considering the typical characteristics of this business. The population of 30 people used as a sample of research. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. From the result of the research, it is found that proportional availability of input or production factor for this business is quite good. While the business management system of broiler duck is still done simply and traditionally but showed better results. Revenue earned by broiler ducks is quite high per season and even the contribution of this broiler duck to total income than farmers is bigger than their main business from rice farming. The results recommend that farmers make livestock business as the main business which maintenance can be done extensively and intensively so as to produce good productivity. Keywords: economic analysis, broiler duck

In general there are two types of coffee grown on Indonesian coffee plantations namely Robusta and Arabica Coffee. Robusta coffee is a coffee that has a higher production when compared with arabica coffee. Until now, the total area, production and productivity of coffee plantations in Indonesia, both from Robusta coffee and arabica coffee are still dominated by public plantation (PR) with 95.37% of coffee area. The area of coffee production in Indonesia is estimated to be about 1.3 million hectares, spread across North Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi. Robusta coffee is commonly planted by farmers in South Sumatra, Lampung and East Java, whereas arabica coffee is commonly planted by farmers in Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, Bali and Flores.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the application of SRI (System of Rice Intensification) method in Pematang Setrak Village, to analyze farmer attitude toward SRI (System of Rice Intensification) method and to know the influence of socio-economic characteristics of farmers (age, education,  number of dependents  and  land area) on farmers attitude in the application of SRI (System of Rice Intensification) method. The method used is descriptive method and multiple linear analysis. From the research results obtained: 37.50% and 35%, the attitude of farmers strongly agree and agree with the implementation of this method of SRI means that rice farmers in the village of Pematang Setrak Teluk Mengkudu Sub district Serdang Berdagai district accept and give a positive attitude towards the application of SRI Method (System of Rice Intensification). From the multiple regression analysis obtained R-Square value of 0.816, it identifies that simultaneously the attitude of farmers affected by age, education, duration of farming, the number of dependents, and the land area of 81.6%, and the remaining 18.4% influenced by other factors outside variables studied. While partially tested the variables that affect the attitude of farmers are age variables, the number of dependents, and land area whereas education and duration of farming does not affect the attitude of farmers in the application of SRI method.Keyword :  Rice, SRI Method, attitude of farmer

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze how socio-economic characteristics affect the income of corn farmers in the research area. Determination of location is done purposively (purposive), that is Sidamanik District of Simalungun Regency with number of sample counted 30 farmer by using method of analysis of multiple linear regression model. The result of hypothesis test shows that simultaneously independent variable Age (X1), Land Area (X2), Experience of Berusahatani (X3), Total Dependent (X4), and Status of Land (X5) influence 98,70% to dependent variable Revenue (Y ). Partially significant variable influence income is age with regression coefficient value equal to - 279921,767 (tsig, 0,003), land area with regression coefficient value and + 1,615E7 (tsig 0,000)) and land status with regression coefficient value - 2,671E6 ( tsig 0,040), while the experience experience variable and the number of dependents have no significant effect. The most dominant independent variable affecting income is variable land area (X2) with value of Standardized Coefficients Beta equal to 1,127Keywords: Characteristics, Socio-economic, Income and Corn
