Abstract

This thesis is study about the types and the meaning of each slang words in Star Wars Jedi Academy: The Force Oversleep. The theory supported this analysis is Eric Partridge theory (2004) which explain about types of slang words. This thesis is designed as library research, in which the methodology used in this thesis is qualitative description method. The data contained in this thesis is taken from the words which contained in slang words in Star Wars Jedi Academy: The Force Oversleep storybook, the data is taken from whole pages, start from page 6 until page 172. The result of this analysis found 2 types of slang words, (1) Public School and University, and (2) Society Slang. The researcher explained the meaning of each slang words based on context. Keywords: Sociolinguistics, Slang, Types of Slang, Eric Partridge, Storybook.

Abstract

This research is based on the view that the characters in the novel have characters, roles and powers. The power of the figures shifts according to their respective roles and contexts. The research objective of the novel Bidadari Bermata bening (BBB) is to reveal the forms of character hegemony. This research enters the realm of sociology of literature with the Gramsci hegemony approach. The research method of the novel BBB is descriptive qualitative. The primary data of this research are in the form of words, sentences, paragraphs contained in the novel BBB. . The primary data of this research are in the form of words, sentences, paragraphs contained in the novel BBB. Secondary data or sources are in the form of a set of knowledge to explain the forms of hegemony. The research data were analyzed and interpreted based on the hegemony approach. The results showed, the form of hegemony in BBB, namely, kiai's son and servant strong. Kia;s son played Gus Afif and Ayna as servant strong. Gus Afif as kiai’s son handsome, and kind-hearted capable captivate Ayna. Likewise Ayna, as servant strong, capable melting heart Gus Afif. The hegemony of the two figures went well and peacefully, not coercion. The two characters are married and happy.

Abstract

Penulisan novel dapat menyertakan berbagai hal di dunia nyata. Seperti halnya dalam karya sastra novel The Ultrasmart Holiday, pengarang menyertakan detail latar cerita atau disebut sebagai latar tipikal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan latar tipikal yang terdapat dalam novel The Ultrasmart Holiday karya Shely Kaydula. Latar tipikal yang dianalisis berfokus pada tempat yang memiliki nilai sejarah dan budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi strukturalisme objektif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan membaca dan menandai kutipan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat dua kota besar di Indonesia yang memiliki nilai sejarah dan budaya yang ditulis untuk menumbuhkan rasa nasionalis pada pembaca khususnya remaja di Indonesia. sejarah dan budaya yang dijelaskan oleh pengarang menunjukkan perjuangan masyarakat mempertahakankan negara dan kepercayaan masyarakat yang menjadikannya tetap berbudi luhur. Penyertaan latar tipikal dalam novel The Ultrasmart Holiday dapat menunjukkan tujuan utama pengarang, yaitu nasionalisme.

Abstract

Art has opened the eyes of the world throught literary works that record the history of a writing. Also the subject of women’s affairs is subject to an author’s reference to the problem of a sense of injustice. Such views have been discussed to voice gender equality and to seek efforts to overcome those problems. Nadia’s asthma is one of the authors who attempt to awaken women to the patriarchate system that has been going on. His works consistently incorporate such universal values as equality in various fields, human freedom, and tolerance so that his readers can adopt the value of life. In addition, she was actively involved in social media as a means of channeling her mind. The twitter feed says some of the people were repressed. Seeing the account encourage him to make a book and then be poured into a storybook of several different stories and in which one of the women’s true account t with the tittle of a jealous heart note. The study used qualitative descriptive methods with the theory of feminist literary criticism.

Abstract

This research contains an intertextual study of poem “Di Jembatan Mirabeau” by Agus R. Sarjono and Le Pont Mirabeau by Guillaume Apollinaire. Both of these poems describe the same object, Mirabeau bridge. The purpose of this research is to determine the intertextuality between these two poems. The method and approach that used in this reserch are library method and intertextuality approach. The writer found several things that show the similarities and differences of these two poems. The similarities are found through the setting, structure of sentences, and point of view. While the differences are found through the language, time, final rhymes, and typography. The result showed that these poems have same meanings and expansion, conversion, modification, and exclution.

Abstract

This paper was prepared with the aim of knowing the function of the personification style in the lyrics of the song Finding Love and Menemaniku, which was created by the Band Noah. The method used in this research includes two methods, namely methods in linguistics and stylistics. The results obtained in this study are that the personified language style is a language style that can give strength to something as if it can carry out activities / actions such as activities / actions carried out by living things (animals, humans,). The personified language style has a function to describe the atmosphere as if it were real and alive, and can also bring out the atmosphere, impressions / images of certain senses; at the same time it can create beauty (aesthetics) that is in the song lyrics.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi bunyi ujaran penutur mengunakan parameter akustik, seperti frekuensi fundamental (F0), durasi, intensitas, tekanan dan pola kontur. Pengukuran bunyi ujaran ekperimental ini menggunakan sinyal yang diekstrak menggunakan anlisis spektrum dengan bantuan komputer. Hasil rekaman suara disimpan dalam file WAV dan software Praat versi 6.0.14 (Boersma & Weenink, 2016) digunakan untuk menganalisis fitur-fitur suprasegmental tersebut. Praat adalah program komputer untuk menganalisis, sintesis, dan manipulasi bunyi ujaran. Metode penelitian adalah metode eksperimental. Eksperimen terkait dengan identifikasi dan verifikasi bunyi ujaran penutur menggunakan parameter akustik melalui analisis spektograf. Kajian fonetik akustik ini dapat digunakan untuk membedakan antara bunyi asli atau bunyi tiruan oleh penutur. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa parameter akustik seperti frekuensi fundamental (F0), durasi, intensitas, tekanan dan pola kontur dapat digunakan untuk membedakan bunyi ujaran asli dan bunyi ujaran tiruan penutur.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the politeness maxim of what is obeyed and the maxim of what is violated in the Whatsapp group of PKK RT 04 RW XXIII Kelurahan Meteseh, Kecamatan Tembalang, Semarang. This research data is a piece of discourse taken from the group Whatsapp messages by choosing the topic of commemorating the 74th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Once the data is collected, it is then analyzed by using linguistic politeness theory. Based on the results of the study, communication via Whatsapp of the PKK group complied with six maxims. Obedience to these six maxims causes a more harmonious relationship between group members. In addition to obeying the sixth maxim, this Whatsapp group also violates the maxim of wisdom and the maxim of sympathy that was aimed at humor.

Abstract

Abstract Public Service Advertisements are non-commercial advertisements that aim to sell ideas for the benefit of public service. The message of Public Service Advertisements contains suggestions and persuation  to the public to take an action that changes their "bad" behavior for the better behavior . This paper attempts to describe the meaning of social messages in the text of public service advertisements “Stereotype Z”. Data analysts use  Riffaterre’s semiotic approach. Through heuristic and hermenetic reading, analysis of the indirect expressions, matrix, model, variant, and hypogra, results show that the text of public service advertisements "Stereotype Z” contains  a social  message that persuade the young generation (generation Z) to be more critical about the problems in their suroundings.

Abstract

This study aims to categorize the toponymy based on its manifestation aspects, explain the meaning of village names, and identify the cultural values contained in the naming of villages in Ponorogo Regency. This research uses anthropolinguistic theory, toponymy, meaning, and cultural values. This research uses in-depth interview techniques and literature study to collect the data. The analysis method used is the descriptive ethnographic method. The results showed that 83 village names in Ponorogo Regency contained toponymy aspects based on the naming. The village toponymy category in Ponorogo Regency includes three naming aspects. The manifestation aspect is contained in 34 village names, social aspects in 39 village names, and cultural aspects in 11 village names. In terms of meaning, 32 village names contain advice, rules, patterns of thought related to Javanese customs culture in the local community. Besides, it also contains the cultural values of peace and prosperity.
