Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of project-based learning models to improve students' conceptual understanding of elasticity and Hooke's law at SMA Negeri 1 Syamtalira Bayu. This research is a research quasi-experimental design. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The samples in this study were students of class XI IPA 4 as the control class with 27 students and class XI IPA 3 as the experimental class with 27 students. The results of the research data analysis showed that the N-Gain normalized obtained an average value of increasing understanding of the concepts of practical class students, namely 0.46 in the medium category, while the control class was 0.30 in the low sort. The test analysis results of the independent sample test for the experimental class and control class are 0.03 0.05. It can conclude that using learning models, project-based learning can improve students' understanding of concepts on elasticity and Hooke's law at SMA Negeri 1 Syamtalira Bayu.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the REACT-based contextual learning model on the mastery of physics concepts in high school students. This study used a Quasi Experimental research model with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was all students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri Samadua, South Aceh Regency which consisted of two classes. Both classes were used as research samples by forming an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group is a class that uses a REACT-based contextual learning model in physics learning, while the control group is a class that uses a conventional learning model through the lecture method. The instruments used were RPP, LKPD and test questions. The pretest and posttest in this study were used to measure the students' initial and final abilities in physics. The data analysis technique used is the t-test with a significance level of 5%. The results of hypothesis testing obtained tcount (2.13) ttable (1.68), meaning that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results interpreted that there was a significant influence on the REACT-based contextual learning model on the mastery of physics concepts for students of class XI MIA SMA Samadua, South Aceh Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of the Physics Problem Solving Exercise by using the "Minnesota Strategy" Problem Solving Model to improve Student Learning Outcomes and Critical Thinking Abilities in SMA 3 Seunagan. The approach used is a quantitative approach in the form of experimental research. Then the data is analyzed using N-gain and t-test. Hypothesis testing used by one-party test that is the right hand side, with criteria accepted by H1 if tcount ttable and H1 is rejected if tcount ≤ ttable. Hypothesis test results obtained for student learning outcomes data tcount = 4.18 and ttable = 1.68 and for critical thinking data tcount = 5.09 and ttable = 1.68 then it can be concluded tcount ttable, in other words H1 accepted. The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence on the use of Physics Problem Solving Exercises by using the "Minnesota Strategy" Problem Solving Model to improve Student Learning Outcomes and Critical Thinking Ability. Keywords: Minnesota Strategy, Learning Outcomes, critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted aiming to determine the critical thinking skills of Teacher Training and Education Department Syiah Kuala University physics students based on critical thinking indicators in solving optical geometry problems. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive research methods. The population of this research is the 2016 Physics Education students as many as 57 students with 40 students as a sample of respondents. Data collection was performed using a test consisting of 5 essay questions that have been validated for use as an instrument for critical thinking tests. The data obtained is then averaged per indicator and then presented and then categorized using the criteria table for critical thinking skills. The results show the average percentage of values obtained by students in solving optical geometry problems for each critical thinking ability is 43% in the ability to provide an explanation simple, 33% in the ability to build basic skills, 25% in the ability to conclude, 33% in the ability to provide further explanation, and 13% in the ability to formulate strategies and tactics. Based on these results it can be concluded that the critical thinking ability of students based on each indicator in the physics education student at Teacher Training and Education Department Syiah Kuala University is still low.

Abstract

Ultraviolet light is an electromagnetic radiation that has range of wavelengths between 100nm to 400nm. This wavelength can be identified by the ultraviolet index, where at this wavelenght ultraviolet light has an impact to human health. Ultraviolet light with ultraviolet index green to yellow is benefical for human health. Meanwhile, ultraviolet rays with red to purple ultraviolet index are harmful to human health. Ultraviolet rays that are harmful to humans can pass the surface of the earth caused by many factors, one of which is global warming. Therefore, this research was conducted to create an ultraviolet light detection system using Raspberry Pi as a sensor data reader and aims to learn about how much light reflected on the surface of the earth. The data obtained will be processed using the phyton programming language and presented using an LCD touchscreen. From this research, the values of the ultraviolet index from zero to six were obtained based on the ultraviolet index value from the BMKG indicate the categories of ultraviolet light associated with light reflection on the surface of the earth are known. So it can be concluded that the less ultraviolet light on the surface of the earth will be reflected easily by the earth, and the more ultraviolet light on the surface of the earth will be difficult to reflect.

Abstract

This study aims to produce products namely guided inquiry-based LKPD on straight-motion material, knowing that LKPD is feasible to be used as a tool to help students learn, and knowing teacher and student responses to guided inquiry-based LKPD. This research uses the Research and Development (R D) method with the ADDIE model. The research subjects were 2 expert lecturers to validate guided inquiry-based LKPD, 17 SMP Negeri 3 Lhoknga students, and 2 Physics teachers. Data collection techniques were obtained from teacher interviews, LKP validation sheets, through student questionnaires, and teacher questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative. The results of data analysis showed that guided inquiry-based LKPD validation on straight-motion material "was feasible" in the systematic preparation. LKPD can be used by students as student learning aids. Student responses to guided inquiry-based LKPD obtained a percentage of 85% of students giving agreed responses to LKPD. And the teacher's response to this LKPD was 88%. Based on the results of the research conducted, guided inquiry-based LKPD can already be used in the learning process in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and differentiate the level of understanding of the electrical concepts of students' Grade XII Senior High Schools in Central Aceh. The population of this study was all students of Science students Grade XII Senior High Schools in Central Aceh which consisted of 19 senior high schools. The sample in this study were 115 students from six senior high schools in Central Aceh. The determination of the sample is done by purposive sampling. The approach which used is a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research. Data collection techniques in this study used the test method. The form of the test instrument used is in the form of a three-tier test with a total of 12 items. The technique of data analysis was used in this study is percentage analysis. The percentage of the results shows there were 7.72% of students understood the concept, 51.52% of students lacked understanding of the concept, and 40.72% of misconceptions students. Thus, it can be concluded that the level of understanding of the electrical concepts of students senior high school in Central Aceh is at level 5 means very poor. As further recommendation for similar research it is best to not only identify the understanding of concepts, but also to overcome the lack of understanding of concepts and misconceptions in students so that students' understanding of concepts increases, especially in electrical concepts.
